Minnesota loss exposes offensive slide The Detroit Lions walked into Minnesota and left with a gut punch. A divisional loss. A game that slipped because the offense never found its level. The Detroit Lions Podcast broke down why. Detroit punted five times, turned it over once, and handed back a takeaway after Terrion Arnold's first career interception. Amon-Ra St. Brown said the room has moved on. It still stings. The Vikings scored 27, but the focus stayed on Detroit's offense. Outside of the Kansas City game, the defense has mostly held up its end. This was about execution, rhythm, and answers that never came. Protection math and third down failure Minnesota dictated terms. Blitzes. Stunts. Pressure from depth and width. Detroit's protection rules could not keep up, and the Vikings kept forcing Jameer Gibbs into pass protection. He lost too often. He could not anchor against those looks, and the Lions repeated the exposure. On film, the structure often broke the same way. Left tackle Taylor Decker and left guard Christian Mahogany passing off to one defender. Right tackle Penei Sewell and right guard Tate Ratledge fanning wide. The edge looks widened. The interior squeeze vanished. The free rusher met Gibbs. Jared Goff saw bodies in his lap. That distortion bled into third down. Detroit is converting about 37 percent, 37 of 102, tied with Tampa Bay. Last season, the Lions lived near 47 percent. Ben Johnson is gone. John Morton is calling it now. The sequencing and solutions are not landing on money downs. Play calls asked backs to protect instead of punish. Hot answers were late. The pocket location felt static. That is how an NFL offense with St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery punts five times in a winnable game. Defense held up; special teams did not The defense was not perfect. The Vikings ran the ball with success, and JJ McCarthy's touchdown to Justin Jefferson was a perfect throw and a better catch. Yet individual efforts flashed. Jack Campbell played fast and urgent. Derek Barnes filled downhill. Arnold competed well. Amik held Jefferson under 50 yards despite the score. The bigger leak came on special teams. Kick returns flipped field position. Punt returns stung. A missed kick and coverage busts stacked stress on a struggling offense. That is a tough parlay to overcome on the road. Week 10 vs. Commanders: fixes on deck Washington is next in Week 10. The mandate is clear. Protect Goff with different answers. Keep Gibbs out of solo pass pro against overloads. Use chips and condensed splits to alter edges. Build more quick game on early downs to avoid third-and-long. Lean on tempo to blunt pressure tells. Let Montgomery set tone without the ball on the ground after his fumble. If the Detroit Lions clean the protection math and regain third down timing, the offense will look like itself again. If not, the same issues will follow them into another Sunday. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A professional racer in the 90s, Castillo is the son of Jim Castillo, founder of Innovation Sports, the brand that practically invented knee bracing. After curtailing his full-time racing efforts, Dave teamed up with his dad to create Asterisk, the most successful off-the-shelf knee brace company in our sport. Concurrently, Dave began a career in Hollywood as a stuntman. Early on, Castillo specialized in two-wheeled stunts, but eventually grew into other aspects of the industry, including stunt coordinating. Currently, Dave is still busy in Hollywood and remains connected with his motocross roots by racing the annual Day in the Dirt Motocross Grand Prix that started out as a Hollywood stunt event, but also with his family company Intake Breathing, which produces the breathing kit that utilizes two small stick-on steel discs and a magnetic nose clip that expands your nasal passages.

TALK TO ME, TEXT ITA damp pink flyer that reportedly tests positive for fentanyl. A single guy holding a sign over the 101 to find a date. A backstage birthday cake launched like a prop. Three wildly different stories, one thread: how fear, spectacle, and attention shape what we believe and how we behave. We start with the Texas flyer report and pull apart the timing, the symptoms, and the gap between public fear and practical risk. The question isn't only whether paper can make you sick; it's how our minds link cause and effect when panic, headlines, and real safety concerns collide. We challenge assumptions, weigh plausibility, and talk about the line between caution and hype. Then we pivot to the overpass love stunt. Is it bold or just reckless branding? We get candid about dating fatigue, why apps feel stale to many, and how performance culture nudges people toward stunts instead of showing up in real life. The point isn't to shame anyone hunting for connection—it's to ask whether we've forgotten the slower, braver ways people actually meet. Finally, we break down the celebrity cake clip: the optics of waste, respect for crews, and why small gestures blow up when trust is thin. It's not just a dessert on the floor; it's a symbol that taps nerves about entitlement and labor. And to bring it back to something we all share, we close with a simple question that sparks community: what's your favorite cake?If this show made you think, tap follow, share it with a friend, and tell us your take—fear gone too far, dating gone weird, or celebrity gone careless? The 49ers came into Week 8 knowing the Texans' defense was elite, but it was Houston's struggling offense that took over Sunday at NRG Stadium. Heavily scrutinized QB C.J. Stroud executed a sound game plan for the Texans, while 49ers teammates George Kittle and Jake Tonges each caught a touchdown on on national Tight Ends Day to keep San Francisco's comeback hopes alive. San Francisco's offense lacked much rhythm beyond that, and the disjointed display effectively ended in a 26-15 loss, their third of the season. Sweet, Sweet Revenge With ASHLEE EVANS-SMITH From THE WORKOUT

HEAVY Music Interviews

It's nothing new to see a fighter make the transition from the ring to the cinema, with people as far back as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris pioneering the way before a procession of fighters followed. From Van Damme to Ronda Rousey to Michael Jai White to Gina Carano, the list goes on, but while some of the attempts at acting have not been quite as impressive as the actual fighting career itself, there is always one thing in common. The fight scenes in their movies are always much more realistic and believable.Naturally, someone who has fought professionally would have a better idea of the practicalities of fighting, and, let's face it, there are numerous movies out there that depict fighting with no degree of accuracy whatsoever. But just the mere presence of a trained fighter in an action movie should instil more confidence in the final product. At least, it does for me.Which is why the upcoming action extravaganza The Workout - which premieres on Amazon on October 28 - was ahead of the game before the cameras even started rolling, when Ashlee Evans-Smith was cast in the role of Tank. Evans-Smith has previously fought in the UFC's bantamweight and flyweight divisions, giving her added advantage and knowledge when it comes to effectively knowing how to injure an opponent. The Workout is an intense found-footage action thriller about an army ranger whose plans to launch a workout video empire are shattered when a mob attack leaves his pregnant wife dead. The film stars Peter Jae (Darkness of Man), Josh Kelly (S.W.A.T.), UFC fighter Ashlee Evans-Smith, and Augie Duke (Yellowjackets), with co-writer David Lawrence bringing a sharp narrative edge. Director James Cullen Bressack has directed over twenty feature films known for bold storytelling and explosive action, including collaborations with Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, and Steven Seagal, all of which sounds like a damn good start!HEAVY recently sat down with Ashlee Evans-Smith to talk through the worlds of filmmaking and martial arts. We start by asking Ashlee about her role in the movie."Oh, I love the storyline," she replied. "It's basically two army rangers - former army rangers - and they have a gym together. Unfortunately, somebody gets caught up in some bad stuff, and the pregnant wife gets killed. Then you basically go on a revenge journey with these badass former Army Rangers who are now doing crazy stunts. I'm also a former Army Ranger, so I'm basically who I am in real life - a big old tomboy without the military training - and I come in and want to help these guys seek revenge, and we spend the whole movie kicking butt and taking names."We ask Ashlee if making the transition from the UFC cage to acting is a difficult process."You think it's either going to transfer really easily or be scary for a stunt partner, but a fun fact is it's both," she laughed. "There are times where it feels seamless and effortless, and then there are times where… to pull a punch is so taboo in my sport. You step all the way into the punch; you don't pull it. And to train something like that for years and years, it's now a natural reaction to go full on. So that was a little scary, because I want to be safe and professional first and foremost. I don't want to hurt anyone, and I don't want to hurt myself, obviously."In the full interview, Ashlee discussed her transition from UFC fighter to actress in The Workout in greater detail. She described her character, Tank, a former Army Ranger seeking revenge after a tragic event, and expressed excitement about the project despite her nerves regarding audience reactions and mixed reviews. Ashlee reflected on the challenges of adapting her fighting techniques for film stunts, sharing a humorous incident where she accidentally landed real punches during a fight scene. She also emphasised the importance of collaboration with the stunt coordinator, who helps balance choreography with the actors' input, and noted the difference between real martial arts and cinematic portrayals.Ashlee described The Workout as a blend of action and patriotism, drawing comparisons to John Wick, and highlighted the authenticity of the fight scenes due to her martial arts background. Additionally, Ashlee shared her feelings on this, her debut major acting role, the differences with filming a 'found footage' movie, the importance of not paying too much attention to reviews and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Mr. Beast Biography Flash a weekly Biography.Over the past few days, Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has again proven he's impossible to ignore—either for his booming empire or his headline-making antics. According to Disney Dining and Inside the Magic, Beast Industries is gearing up for an ambitious new chapter, with MrBeast himself reportedly eyeing the launch of a Disney-rivaling theme park as part of his ongoing quest to build the world's next major entertainment conglomerate. After renting out Disneyland for a day last year—a move that generated one of his biggest viral hits—he's now flirting with the idea of building his own park from scratch, turning Beast Industries into what Bloomberg and company CEO Jeff Housenbold compare to the modern Disney, with MrBeast himself as its Mickey Mouse. The company is moving beyond YouTube stardom, expanding into food brands like Feastables and MrBeast Burger, and doubling down on scripted content and branded experiences—all while maintaining those eye-popping philanthropic giveaways, like planting 20 million trees and removing 30 million pounds of trash, that originally turned him into a global sensation. But this week, the bigger story is a firestorm—both literal and digital. On the evening of September 27, MrBeast dropped a video titled "Would You Risk Dying For $500,000?", where a professional stuntman, according to Tyla and The Economic Times, was subjected to a series of "death traps" including escaping a burning building, being fired out of a cannon into fire, and surviving explosions for the massive cash prize. The video immediately triggered backlash on social media, with critics drawing comparisons to "Squid Game" and "The Hunger Games" for its extreme, almost dystopian premise. Several X users and commentators, notably including a firefighter, called out the stunt for reckless endangerment. In response, MrBeast clarified that the entire setup was rigorously tested by professionals, the participant was a trained stuntman, and the crew had numerous safety measures, including fire suppression, ventilation, and a full emergency response team on standby. The video, nonetheless, racked up over 50 million views in days, cementing MrBeast's reputation for blending shock with spectacle—all while fueling debate about the ethics of influencer stunts. While this drama played out online, MrBeast's business machine kept rolling. His Amazon Prime series, Beast Games, was recently renewed for two more seasons, and according to Disney Dining, he's still pursuing a broader "cinematic universe" for his brand. There's even talk of future animation projects and video game platforms, as detailed in recent Bloomberg coverage. The only potential cloud on the horizon is legal: The Economic Times reminds us that MrBeast and Amazon are still facing lawsuits from contestants alleging unpaid wages, poor conditions, and even harassment during the filming of Beast Games—a lawsuit first filed in September 2024 that has yet to fully resolve.Looking back, the past 48 hours have shown MrBeast at both his most ambitious and controversial: a business visionary racing toward theme parks and empire-building, and a viral provocateur pushing the boundaries—sometimes dangerously—of what's acceptable for clicks.Thank you for tuning in to "Mr. Beast Biography Flash." Mr. Beast Biography Flash a weekly Biography. In the past few days, Mr. Beast—aka Jimmy Donaldson—has dominated headlines and social media with what is easily one of his most controversial stunts yet. On September 28, 2025, Mr. Beast released a new YouTube video titled Would you risk dying for $500,000, immediately igniting fierce debate. The video, which racked up over 43 million views in just a day, features Donaldson overseeing a series of extreme challenges, including one where a man—later confirmed by Donaldson to be a professional stuntman—was tied up and left to escape from a burning building. Wearing a firefighter's coat, Mr. Beast plays host to what many described as 'fire traps,' including being shot out of a cannon and surviving explosions. The internet, particularly X users, erupted. Some compared Mr. Beast to the fictional killer Jigsaw, labeling the video sadistic and accusing him of pushing boundaries for views with what they called 'reckless engagement.' Critics questioned the safety and ethicality of making people perform dangerous stunts for cash prizes, with one user bluntly calling the act 'super villain sh*t.' Mr. Beast's massive young audience—he currently boasts around 441 million subscribers, many under 25—added fuel to the discussion, with concerns voiced by the public about the potential for impressionable fans to imitate these dangerous stunts without proper safety precautions.Mr. Beast responded directly to criticism on social media and in statements to TMZ, emphasizing that participant safety was paramount. He asserted that every challenge was thoroughly tested, carried out exclusively by seasoned stunt professionals, and supervised by a full rescue team, including firefighters, EMTs, and a dedicated pyro team able to 'essentially turn off the fire if there was ever an issue.' He reiterated on X that ventilation and both smoke and flame 'kill switches' were in place, and every contingency was covered. While the backlash remains heated, plenty of others on social media dismissed the outrage as overblown, pointing out the obvious professionalism and control behind the stunts. Nonetheless, the ongoing firestorm highlights how Donaldson continues to push the limits of participatory entertainment and the conversation around safety, ethics, and influence in YouTube content creation. No significant new business launches have been reported over the past 24 hours, nor has Mr. Beast made any public appearances outside this viral episode, but it is clear his every move is under the microscope as the internet debates the boundaries of spectacle. Thanks for tuning in to Mr. Beast Biography Flash. Cameron Talbott is getting his first pro skate this week. What's crazy is that Cam is 37 years old, and while he was a sponsored am for a long time, he didn't achieve pro status until he was 25. While that's impressive, what's even more impressive are the hammers and creativity that define his skating. Not too bad for a kid who came up with nothing in Missoula, Montana. On the podcast, we talk about growing up with less, his badass mom, finding community in skating, SF, Valo, and so much more. It's a good one, with a double dose of Inappropriate Questions featuring Erick Garcia and Tom Hyser.
