As always I love my conversations with listener favorite and returning guest, Meagan Rose Wilson of Whole Family Rhythms. In this episode we're discussing all things "Waldorf Early Childhood". What happens in a Waldorf early childhood, pre-school, or childcare setting? What does a typical day look like? How can we bring these ideas into our home life with young children? What about potty training? Is there a "Waldorf approach", and many more topics are explored in this episode.Additional show notes and resources for this episode can be found at:waldorfy.com/earlychildhoodTheme music for this episode was composed and performed by Book Kennison

Our first ever guest on Healthy Happy Home is Deepa Devlukia, conscious parenting coach and advocator of slow and conscious living. What does that actually mean? We know, it can seem a bit ambiguous with so much talk about “conscious parenting” all over social media, so we talk about what conscious or intentional parenting actually means, and how we can all – regardless of our stance on parenting and which methods we choose to follow – implement some form of conscious parenting to enhance our parenting journey and the relationships we have with our children. For those who don’t have children, we talk a lot about what it means to simply live consciously and intentionally, in order to connect on an energetic level to help us be happy, so this episode could be elevating for anyone who feels drawn to listen. Join the Joyful Courage Tribe in our community Facebook group - Live and Love with Joyful Courage.  Raising our children while growing ourselves... ::::   My guest today is Meagan Wilson. Meagan is the founder of Whole Family Rhythms and living out her mission of helping other mothers, caregivers, and educators to create more clarity and balance within the home. Meagan’s website and seasonal Guides provide support, information, and resources on conscious parenting inspired by the earth, the seasons, and each family’s own unique values. Together, a community of over 25 thousand like-minded Mothers and educators gather each day on her Instagram feed to discuss parenting with love, connection and rhythm.   "Connecting with your family values is this parenting partner exercise.” “Visual cues, no matter what, they are always very helpful.”   What you’ll hear in this episode: What living with the rhythms of the earth and the seasons means What it means to align your life with your values How to document your family values in a meaningful way Discussing your values as co-parents with extended family and caregivers Routine vs rhythm, in-breath vs out-breath times and what it all means Using visuals to create daily habits What it means to be a loving authority Being the author of the boundaries that you're holding Natural consequences - what they are Connecting to something higher than yourself - not necessarily religion   What does Joyful Courage mean to you? I cheated a little bit. I looked up the word joy because I told you I really like looking at words. It led me to rejoice, which really made sense to me because when I first read it and thought what's joyful courage?  I thought, you know, it's courage to live in that moment. You know, really ground yourself in the present moment. And even if there is suffering around, even if your child is upset and you're holding a space for that, you know, you're really in the moment. And I think that the word rejoice kind of fits in there because it's this sense of gratitude. It's gratitude for the present moment no matter what it's bringing us. So it might not always be this like very happy joy, but it's this sense of gratitude for the present moment and having the courage to try and connect with that as often as we can during the day.   Resources: Simplicity Parenting   Where to find: Whole Family Rhythms website - Joyful Courage landing page Instagram Facebook Pinterest :::::   Joyful Courage: Calming the drama and taking control of your parenting journey   This book is all about how to show up as a Joyful Courage parent so that you have better access to the tools you need in hot parenting moments – tools that are helpful and maintain connection with your child.   Presale is April 10th – as many of you as possible buying presale would be FABULOUS. In this special episode, we chat with several guests who share insights about how they create family traditions that are in alignment with their beliefs and personal values and how they navigate through the trappings of cultural norms at this time of year.  We wanted to get their perspectives on how they focus on simplicity and intention instead of materialism  A common thread of all three of our conversations is that making the holidays your own is not just a one-time conversation with your kids or your partner. It is about sowing seeds and knowing every year is going to look a little different and every year is going to grow and change and develop, much like a family does.  That's a beautiful thing! Rachel Jonat is an expert of minimal living and slowing down to take time for herself, her husband, and three children. She sets small goals for herself during the holidays and carefully considers the intention behind each gift given. Rachel is the author of three books. Her current book, The Joy of Doing Nothing, includes tips for people with busy lives on how to reset and restart their brains to find peace. Megan Wilson is the mother of four. She and her husband create an intentional model for their children based on their core values. On her blog, Megan shares resources to draw upon to create a nature-based, Waldorf education in the home. Her seasonal guides include recipes, activities, and inspirations for parents and caregivers. Phaedra Taylor and her husband purposefully add historical references to their holiday practices to give their two children a sense of belonging at a cultural and global level. Phaedra shares adventures and stories in her creative art series based on being human. We adored these conversations and know that they will give you inspiration and confidence to branch out and create your own traditions, regardless of what you’ve done in the past!   In This Episode: ● Tips for keeping gift giving simple ● How to approach the subject of simple gift giving with friends and family members ● How to talk with your children about making gifts intentional ● How to make the holidays more about connection than gifts ● How to add spiritual practices to the season ● How to cultivate curiosity in kids ● Adding historical references to current cultural practices ● Incorporating the natural world by making handmade gifts ● Celebrating the joy of simply being together   Show Notes: The Minimalist Mom The Joy of Doing Nothing: A Real-Life Guide to Stepping Back, Slowing Down, and Creating a Simpler, Joy-Filled Life, by Rachel Jonat Whole Family Rhythms Whole Family Rhythms Seasonal Guides Phaedra Jean Art Machine
