Hello to you listening in Madrid, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga. It's that time of year when it feels like the hurrier we go the behinder we get. I have a solution for you. For just a moment let's breathe and practice keeping still with Pablo Neruda. KEEPING QUIET  Now we will count to twelveand we will all keep stillfor once on the face of the earth, let's not speak in any language;let's stop for a second, and not move our arms so much. It would be an exotic momentwithout rush, without engines;we would all be togetherin a sudden strangeness. Fishermen in the cold seawould not harm whalesand the man gathering saltwould look at his hurt hands. Those who prepare green wars, wars with gas, wars with fire, victories with no survivors, would put on clean clothesand walk about with their brothersin the shade, doing nothing. What I want should not be confusedwith total inactivity.Life is what it is about;I want no truck with death. If we were not so single-mindedabout keeping our lives moving, and for once could do nothing, perhaps a huge silencemight interrupt this sadnessof never understanding ourselvesand of threatening ourselves with death. Perhaps the earth can teach usas when everything seems deadand later proves to be alive. Now I'll count up to twelveand you keep quiet and I will go." [by Pablo Neruda]Translation of this poem by Pablo Neruda is by Alistair Reed60 Seconds is your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that. Hello to you listening in Vigo, Galicia, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Society does not approve of laziness. Imagine what society would say about establishing a Lazy Monday! My teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, encouraged us to take a Lazy Monday. What's the point? “A lazy day is a chance to train ourselves not to be afraid of doing nothing. You might think that not doing anything is a waste of time. But that's not true. Your time is first of all for you to be - to be alive, to be at peace. The world needs joyous and loving people who are capable of just being. People sometimes say ‘Don't just sit there, do something'. But we have to reverse that statement to say ‘Don't do something, just sit there' in order to be in such a way that peace, understanding, and compassion are possible.”Question: You absolutely can afford a Lazy Monday!  What's it worth to you to give it a go?Click here to learn more about Lazy Monday:You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ Arrange your free no-sales Discovery Chat to learn more: ,✓ Opt In to my NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. In this episode, Peter McKenzie discusses the key steps landlords should take to prepare for the upcoming year. He emphasizes the risk of doing nothing and falling behind on rent, laws, and property updates. The top eight things to do at the end of the year are: reviewing fair market value, property maintenance and updates, evaluating rental strategy, improving rental income, reducing expenses, showing appreciation to tenants, staying updated on legal changes, and managing taxes. Takeaways Regularly review the fair market value of your rental property to ensure you are not leaving money on the table. Stay on top of property maintenance and updates to avoid costly repairs and keep your property in good condition. Evaluate your rental strategy to determine if there are better options available, such as short-term rentals or house hacking. Look for opportunities to increase rental income by making improvements to the property or adding desirable features. Reduce expenses by getting rid of expensive or hard-to-maintain items, such as large lawns. Consider showing appreciation to tenants with a gift or gesture to foster positive relationships and tenant retention. Stay updated on legal changes that may impact your rental business to ensure compliance and avoid penalties. Keep clean records and work with a tax professional to take advantage of tax benefits associated with owning rental real estate. Episode 104. Embracing The Power of Doing Nothing. Welcome back to the Motivation Made Easy podcast! I'm thrilled to have Taylor joining me once again on today's episode where we take a moment to address the reason behind our podcast's short pause. (See you very soon on November 27th!). This pause feels sort of like the end of a very long "season 2", as we've taken a break last summer in conclusion of "season 1"; however, we will talk about the difference between these two breaks. Also, we'll delve into why breaks are important for wellness, the physical sensations, growing from the downtime, using IFS to tap into exploring our overworking parts, what you as listeners can do in the meantime, and much more! The Importance of Rest for Wellness As professionals, and frankly as humans, play a significant role in influencing and guiding others. The culture of productivity and constant doing can lead us to become caught up in a cycle of continuous work, neglecting our own well-being. This can ultimately compromise our ability to effectively serve and support others. So, by taking breaks and embracing rest, we feel more creative, less "output" focused, and more able to make mindful decisions that lead to sustainable change. "Whispers" of the Body We talk in this episode about the concept of "body whispers," the subtle physical sensations that tell us to what our body wants to do, including rest. These whispers provide insights that often get drowned out by the noise of daily life. I share my personal experience with tuning into these whispers and how it's something I'm continually working on. IFS: Unveiling Overworking Parts We explore the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model as a tool to understand and navigate our overworking parts. IFS can also aid in exploring our own individual limits for dedicating time to work and life. Maximizing the Pause: What Listeners Can Do During this podcast break, we invite our listeners to embark on their own journeys of exploring what rest means for you. Shawn offers actionable steps, from revisiting favorite episodes to finding joy in your individualistic activities. Embrace those activities that spark joy, whether it's engaging in mindful practices or stepping out of your comfort zone. Take a moment to emphasize that doing nothing isn't necessarily passive, we recognize that rest can manifest in diverse forms. What's Next: Behind the Scenes During our pause, we're strategically planning for the future. While we catch up on scheduled episodes, we're working towards an efficient schedule. look out for our upcoming exciting episodes featuring Dr. Dina Goldstein Silverman, Dr. Allyn Richards, Dr. Cortney Warren, and more! Thank you for joining us on this episode and staying with us on their journey. Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for our return in November! Dorothy encourages online entrepreneurs to focus on high value instead of high volume and to create high ticket offers that focus on delivering outstanding value rather than delivering a lower-cost offer that requires a lot of volume to create a return on investment. So much of the stories we tell of who we are have been told by men who have a certain view of the inevitability of patriarchy as the only system that we know throughout the world, ascribing an inevitability about it that is inaccurate and untrue. There have been multiple theories on how the patriarchy emerged in society and ultimately, we'll never completely know as it predates written records. However, a Lithuanian archaeologist by the name of Marija Gimbutas theorized that in the Paleolithic period when the Judeo-Christian patriarchy emerged, a group of Kurgans who are warring men came down from the steps of Russia. At a time of ecological and environmental movement, these primarily warring men came and enslaved people, women, children, marking the start of patriarchy. Marija was destroyed by this theory but was proven to be correct years later. For Elise, she sees that there's a standard of perfection, especially for people like Marija. Men and women are constantly in debates about nature and culture, conflating the two and creating these ideas about what it truly means to be a man or a woman. With anthropologists, they can be either right or wrong about history but for Elise, we cannot move forward without having these conversations.
