ABOUT THE EPISODE:Dr. Wes Robins sent me a text a few weeks ago, and I stopped what I was doing and read it twice. It was a piece he had written at his kitchen table while his daughters worked on an art project beside him, and it was one of the most honest and beautiful things I have read in all the years I have been doing this work. It started with four words: you are not broken. And it kept going from there.Wes has been a guest on this show before, and I have always admired how he shows up. No pretense, no pedestal. Just a real human being who has done his own hard work and now walks alongside young people and families who are doing theirs. Since we last spoke, he made the gut-wrenching decision to close the treatment center he poured five and a half years into, and what he learned on the other side of that loss is something I think every parent who has ever watched someone they love struggle needs to hear.He is back in private practice now, seeing clients out of a cool 60's ranch house in Alpharetta, GA. He works with young people, with parents, and with families who are trying to figure out how to stay present through things that feel impossible to witness. He's a Ph.D, but has officially taken on the designation of Soul Nurse, and once he explains it, you'll understand exactly what that means. This conversation goes places I did not expect. We talk about the piece Wes wrote for parents, and he reads it aloud, and I am not going to pretend I held it together. We get into the difference between empathy and presence, why watching your child suffer might be asking something of you that has nothing to do with them, and what it actually means to be the flight attendant when your kid is in turbulence. If you have ever felt like you were failing simply by not being able to fix this, this one is for you.YOU'LL LEARN:The wise words Dr. Wes wrote at his kitchen table that stopped me coldHow to think about psychedelics and plant medicines when your child is asking (or using them)The difference between empathy and presence, and why it mattersWhy your child's struggle may be your greatest spiritual teacherWhat being the flight attendant actually looks like when you are terrified yourselfEPISODE RESOURCES:WebsiteDr. Wes Robins Youtube ChannelDr. Wes LinkedIn ProfileEmail address: drwes@eternalstrength.comPsychology Today"When The Map Burns" This podcast is part of a nonprofit called Hopestream CommunityLearn about The Stream, our private online community for momsFind us on Instagram hereWatch the podcast on YouTube hereDownload a free e-book, Worried Sick: A Compassionate Guide For Parents When Your Teen or Young Adult Child Misuses Drugs and AlcoholHopestream Community is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and an Amazon Associate. In today's episode, we're diving into higher conscious parenting and the deeper understanding of how we shape our children's lives through our energy, actions, and the way we move through the world. Our children are constantly observing us. They learn far more from what we do than from what we say. They feel our energy, mirror our patterns, and often reflect back the things happening beneath the surface within us.In this episode, we talk about: How children reflect our energy and emotional state  The importance of awareness in parenting  When children begin developing their creator field and sense of self  Why children observe and model behaviour more than they listen to words  How unconscious patterns can be passed down  Creating safety, connection, and awareness within the parent-child relationship This episode is about bringing more consciousness, compassion, and understanding into parenting—so we can begin raising children from awareness instead of unconscious programming

What happens when everyday parenting meets metaphysical awareness? In this engaging and refreshing episode, Rob McConnell interviews Michelle Payton, known as the Mainstream Metaphysical Mom, about blending spirituality, intuition, and real-life family dynamics. Drawing from her personal journey, Michelle shares how she integrates metaphysical perspectives into the realities of raising a family—balancing intuition, mindfulness, and practical parenting. She explores how spiritual awareness doesn't have to be separate from everyday life, but can instead enhance communication, understanding, and connection within the home. This episode invites listeners to rethink how spirituality fits into modern living. How can parents introduce mindfulness and awareness to their children in a grounded way? What role does intuition play in decision-making as a parent? And how can metaphysical concepts be applied without losing touch with real-world responsibilities? Have you ever found yourself trying so hard to be a “perfect parent”… only to feel like it's not quite working the way you expected? In this episode of It's a Mindset, I'm joined by Lisa Taylor - family therapist, relationships consultant, speaker and founder of Strengthening Families Australia. With over 25 years of experience supporting families, schools and organisations, Lisa brings a deeply heart-centred approach to helping us understand the patterns that shape how we connect. Together, we explore what Lisa calls the “Perfect Parent Trap” - the pressure to get it right, to say the right thing, to respond perfectly - and how that can actually move us further away from the connection we're really seeking. Instead, Lisa invites us to shift from control to connection, and to become more aware of the emotional imprints from our own upbringing - what she calls our heartprints - and how they influence the way we show up as parents today. This conversation really resonated with me on a personal level. Lisa and I are at a similar stage of parenting, and as fellow authors in the Expert Author Community, there was such a natural connection and shared understanding between us. I absolutely love the work she's doing to support families, and the insights she shared - particularly around our own heartprints - were incredibly powerful. This is one of those episodes that gently invites you to pause, reflect and consider how you're showing up in your closest relationships - not from a place of judgment, but from a place of curiosity and growth. Key Episode Takeaways: What the “Perfect Parent Trap” is and why trying to get it right can backfire How your own childhood “heartprints” shape the way you parent Why shifting from control to connection can transform your relationships The importance of presence - being where your body is - in creating deeper connection About the Guest: Lisa Taylor is a family therapist, relationships consultant, speaker and founder of Strengthening Families Australia with over twenty-five years of experience walking alongside thousands of families, schools and organisations across Australia. Her heart-centred approach helps parents, educators and leaders strengthen relationships, heal generational patterns and transform how they connect with one another. Dr. Shefali is a world-renowned clinical psychologist, international parenting expert, and a New York Times bestselling author of 7 books including The Conscious Parent, The Parenting Map and A Radical Awakening among others. She’s also the host of the Parenting & You podcast, founder of the Conscious Parenting movement and has been a guest several times on Super Soul with Oprah. In this episode we talk to Dr. Shefali about what it means to be a conscious parent and how you can become aware of your patterns and belief systems by recognising that your child is a mirror to your unresolved issues. It’s not only our children, we talk about the powerful way that all relationships are like mirrors that show us where we still have places to heal and lessons to learn. Dr. Shefali shares some great examples from her own life as a parent, and how we can practically begin to break down our patterns and not project our expectations onto our children. She helps us understand that there’s no such thing as a perfect parent or a perfect human - we are all learning and evolving. Dr. Shefali shares about her childhood in India and how she always knew she wanted to leave because of the inequalities she witnessed there. At the age of 21 she moved to the United States, where she studied at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Columbia University and began integrating Western psychology and Eastern philosophy in all of her work. We also talk about her book A Radical Awakening, which helps women see how to break free from societal expectations and live authentic lives. Dr. Shefali talks about the choice we are sometimes faced with between being authentic to ourselves or authentic to the views of others, and that the greatest gift you can ultimately give others in your life is to choose to be authentically yourself. This is such a beautiful and powerful episode, whether you’re a parent or not, because all of Dr. Shefali’s wisdom can be applied to any relationship in your life. We’re so grateful we had this time with Dr. Shefali, who joined us all the way from New York, and we hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. When a mother feels calm and supported, her baby reflects that sense of safety. Yet, behind this bond lies a truth we often overlook: a mother is not always happy. In a single day, she carries so much holding everything together, meeting expectations, and striving to be “enough” for everyone around her.And still, that does not make her a bad mother. Inside, they explore: → The reframe that changes everything: stop saying you "lost" someone—they're not lost, they're on the other side of a very thin veil, still here, still sending signs (and once you start looking, you'll see them everywhere) → Why kids are naturally more connected to the other side than adults—and how honest conversations about death (even when we're crying and fumbling through it) prevent the fear of the unknown from taking root the way it did for Jenny as a child → The signs Jenny's mom sends: owls, ladybugs, rainbows appearing out of nowhere—and the Costco parking lot story where a stranger tapped Jenny's shoulder to tell her about a ladybug on her back right when she needed her mom most → Why grief isn't linear (it comes in waves, and that's okay) and how riding the wave instead of resisting it opens you up to healing and creativity you didn't know you needed—plus the power of sign tracking (the more you pay attention, the more signs show up) → The mistake parents make when trying to "perform" the right answer instead of being honest—kids end up carrying the burden alone because they think bringing it up hurts us, so they stop talking about it Resources & Links: Connect with Jenny Robinson Clark: → Website: www.jennyrobinsonclark.com → Instagram: @jennyrobinsonclark → Book: Are You Here? Candi shares the origin story of Let's Talk Kids and Baby Know, built with award-winning early childhood educators, and explains how clinical best practices meet everyday play so parents can support development without overwhelm. We dig into the difference between “wait and see” and “start now,” with practical guidance parents can use from birth to age three. You'll hear about culturally responsive kits co-created with community partners, university evaluations validating outcomes, and an unexpected breakout: teen dads using meditations and affirmations to handle overnights with confidence. We go inside the entrepreneurial journey too—how to scale through nonprofit and school partnerships, why cultural translation is more than swapping words, and what it takes to keep momentum when funding lags behind the science. This conversation also reaches beyond the nursery. Candi talks advocacy at the Capitol for families and infants who can't speak for themselves, the crucial window of zero to three in brain development, and why presence and repair matter just as much as milestones. We reflect on maternity and paternity leave for founders, wise approaches to nutrition and allergy introduction, and the role of faith and community in helping parents feel seen. Seeing that many people were awakening with no safe or grounded space to explore their experiences, Melissa created Contact Modalities XPO, a non-dogmatic community dedicated to authentic exploration of consciousness, extrasensory perception, and expanded states of awareness.Melissa now supports others through their awakenings, offering validation, insight, and an open space that honors personal truth without imposing beliefs. Before the Awakening – “What was life like pre-2016? Episode #1100 In this revisit of a fan-favorite episode, Doug Holt is joined by his wife, Erin, to discuss the small, intentional shifts they use to raise resilient and self-aware children. Parenting often feels like a series of reactive moments, but the goal of conscious parenting is to proactively pass down the tools for self-love, emotional intelligence, and growth . Doug and Erin share the specific rituals they use with their own children to ensure they grow up with a solid foundation of self-worth and the ability to navigate life's inevitable challenges . Building self-love starts with simple habits, such as encouraging kids to look in the mirror and tell themselves they love themselves, making it a normal part of their day . Doug also uses a constant verbal check by telling his kids he loves them until they are almost annoyed, ensuring they never have to question his affection . At the dinner table, they move past the standard "how was your day" by asking about "magic moments" or pre-framing the school day as being either "good or great" to keep their children's minds focused on the positives . Modeling behavior is ultimately more impactful than words alone. Whether it is letting your children see you journal, meditate, or exercise, they pick up on the healthy habits that serve you . Most importantly, Doug and Erin discuss the power of "repairing" the relationship when you lose your cool; by apologizing for raising your voice, you teach kids that while emotions are natural, taking responsibility for your actions is a requirement for healthy relationships .   If you want to stop guessing what is missing in your relationship and learn a step-by-step methodology to regain the love and respect you once had, click the link below to get our free training: https://fixmarriage.thepowerfulman.com/scales

Your Children Aren’t Here to Be Fixed, They’re Here to Wake You Up What if every argument with your child, every slammed door, every moment of frustration has nothing to do with them and everything to do with a wound you never healed? It’s a confronting question. And for most parents, the instinct is to reject it immediately. But in this powerful conversation with Dr. Shefali, the founder of the Conscious Parenting movement, she reveals a truth that could transform not just the way you parent, but the way you understand every relationship in your life: your children are not the problem. They are the mirror. The Zombie Epidemic in Modern Parenting “Most people are so-called zombie-like, moving through life in reactivity,” Dr. Shefali explains. “Not aware that they can get into the driver’s seat and begin to mandate their reactions.” As a clinical psychologist with a doctorate from Columbia University and three New York Times bestselling books, Dr. Shefali has spent decades studying a pattern that plays out in homes across the world. Parents unconsciously project their unresolved pain, unmet needs, and unfulfilled dreams onto their children without ever realising it. And that unchecked authority goes completely unsupervised. The result? We cast our children into roles they never chose. We write the movie, direct the scenes, and expect everyone to follow the script. Then when our children resist, we label them as difficult. When they defy us, we feel rejected. But they’re not rejecting us. They’re rejecting the role we assigned them. Your Triggers Are the Gift Dr. Shefali offers a framework that flips everything on its head. Rather than assuming your reaction to your child’s behaviour is justified, start with the presumption that you have projected your own wounds onto the situation. Then prove to yourself that you haven’t. She uses the example of a child hiding a C grade from their parent. The instinct is anger, disappointment, even betrayal. But when you pause and trace that reaction to its root, you often discover an old wound around shame, unworthiness, or fear of failure that was planted decades ago during your own childhood. “The triggers are the gifts that help you turn around and look within,” she says. “They show you where you’re not yet free.” This is the essential inner work. And it doesn’t just transform parenting. It breaks the cycle of generational trauma that quietly passes from one family to the next. Social Media: The Red Flag Parents Can’t Ignore The conversation takes an urgent turn when Dr. Shefali addresses social media’s impact on young people. She doesn’t soften her words, comparing unrestricted access for children to handing them drugs or alcohol. She highlights the alarming rise in anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, and isolation among teenagers, driven by a digital world built on comparison, perfectionism, and curated reality. She applauds Australia’s legislation restricting social media for children under 16, and urges parents to treat screen time as a red flag behaviour that demands firm, non-negotiable boundaries. Three Truths Every Parent Needs to Hear Dr. Shefali closes with three uncomfortable truths. First, your children are here to show you where you haven’t healed. Second, every moment of reactivity towards your child is a wake-up call to unresolved pain within you. And third, your child is not here to fulfil your expectations. They are here to live their own life and their own destiny. See Dr. Shefali Live in Australia, March 2026 Dr. Shefali is bringing her transformative teachings to Australia for two powerful live events. What if forgiveness isn't about being kind, spiritual, or morally “good” — but about getting your life back?In this powerful and deeply honest conversation, Ryann sits down with bestselling author, transformation mentor, and forgiveness expert Katharine Giovanni to explore forgiveness as a selfish, embodied, and energetically freeing practice. Together, they unpack why forgiveness is an inside job, how unresolved anger keeps us stuck in survival mode, and why forgiving the energy around people, places, and events can be just as important as forgiving the person themselves.Katharine shares her step-by-step forgiveness process — a practical, compassionate method that goes far beyond “just let it go” — and explains how unhealed resentment lives in the body, impacts our nervous system, affects our relationship with money, and quietly blocks joy, clarity, and connection. This episode is for anyone who's tried to forgive before and felt stuck… for those carrying resentment from childhood, family dynamics, or past relationships… and for anyone ready to release the emotional charge that keeps replaying old stories in their mind and body.Forgiveness, as you'll hear, isn't about excusing harm or reopening relationships. It's about freedom. It's about neutrality. It's about finally letting go of what no longer deserves space in your head — or your heart.Support The Mission:

Together, they unpack how to parent without control, guilt, or fear, how to break intergenerational patterns, and how to relate to children (and parents) as sovereign beings rather than projections of our own unresolved stories. When my son was unwell, I lost myself.I stopped sleeping.I stopped moving my body.I stopped even knowing how to find joy.In the rare moments when he finally fell asleep, I sure as heck didn't sleep. I researched. Because I could feel him slipping further away from me and I was desperate to heal him.Somewhere along the way, I stopped breathing.I stopped knowing how to connect with my daughter, with Ty, with my own body.I was holding my breath just trying to keep us all afloat. And I know so many of you are in this place right now... trying to heal your own body, or your child's body, and it is all-consuming. It becomes the only thing you can see. You pour every ounce of yourself into the symptoms, into the protocols, into the fear. And somewhere along the way, you stop living.I want to share something with you that I didn't understand back then...His healing journey wasn't separate from mine.It never was.And if I could go back… I would do it differently. Not because I regret anything. But because I know now that I didn't have to lose myself in order to heal him.In fact, I could have healed him faster (with more steadiness, more clarity, more grounded energy) if I hadn't abandoned myself in the process. That's what this week's episode is about.I'm walking you through the raw, honest story of how we ended up living in a motorhome with no internet, how we nearly broke and then found each other again, how healing forced us to leave behind everything we thought we were supposed to be… so we could finally come home to ourselves. And I'm sharing what I wish someone had told me back then. That nothing in life is about the end result. Not the wedding day, not the symptom checklist, not the healed body. It's about how we live while we're in it.Who we are becoming. And how we shift our focus back to what actually matters.Because healing isn't the finish line. And if you hold your breath the whole way there just waiting for the perfect moment to finally feel peace, or presence, or joy? You will miss what it was all for. This might be the most powerful episode I've ever recorded. And I really believe it's going to meet you right where you are. Thanks for listening! Ever wonder what happens when the next generation wakes up before we do? At Spirit Fest USA, we sat down with Kris Owsley, founder of Lightworkers United Training Academy, to talk about how she's helping kids...and adults...embrace their gifts, manage energetic overload, and step fully into their purpose as healers in a world that desperately needs them. This one hit home for us in a big way. Our own 14-year-old joined us off-camera during the interview, and what unfolded was a powerful, real-time teaching moment about how kids today are feeling everything; the energy, the emotions, the collective chaos, and don't always know what to do with it. Kris broke it all down in a way that's both practical and profound: How to help kids recognize when the “bad vibes” they're feeling aren't theirs. Why our words literally program our reality (and how to stop accidentally affirming what we don't want). How to protect your energy from “poison darts” being thrown by others. The quick “reset” technique that instantly raises your vibration. And why two simple words—“I AM”—might just be the key to reconnecting with Source itself. This conversation goes from parenting to planetary healing, from teenage angst to ascension, and it might just reframe the way you think about energy hygiene forever. As Kris puts it, “Everyone's gifts are awakening globally. Our job now is to teach the young ones how to use them.” Episode HighlightsWhat happens when kids come in already tuned into higher frequenciesHow lower vibrational environments affect emotional healthWhy gratitude is the fastest “vibe shifter” there isThe truth about mindset and the energy behind the words “I am…”How Kris is building an international academy to train future healers (with multilingual video translations!)Why healing others starts with mastering your own vibrationConnect with Kris Owsley Follow Kris (Kristen Terrell Owsley) everywhere: Instagram(https://www.instagram.com/kristenterrellowsley), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/kristenterrellowsley1111), or join her global community One Tribe Noname' I Am, a space for lightworkers to unite, learn, and grow together. Website: https://kristenterrellowsley.com/This episode is equal parts heart, humor, and healing.
