What if the traditional education system isn't the best option for your child? Join us as Lindsay from Kentucky shares her transformative experience transitioning from a career in the health and medical field to homeschooling her three children in a one-bedroom cabin, using the Waldorf education approach. Lindsay's concerns about the health, development, and safety issues in conventional schools, including the stress of active shooter drills, motivated her to seek out this alternative education method, which emphasizes a slower, play-based learning style. Through her personal story, Lindsay provides an intimate look at the challenges and triumphs of homeschooling and how it aligns with her family's holistic values.Curious about Waldorf education? We explore its principles and developmental stages, from early childhood to adolescence, with insights from Lindsay. From identifying cocoons to the trade-offs of a one-income household, Lindsay sheds light on the sacrifices and rewards of rural living. Additionally, we tackle important health freedom issues, such as water fluoridation mandates, and the role of community activism in challenging such regulations.   (Book) Waldorf Curriculum Overview for Homeschoolers:  The essential guide to Waldorf-inspired homeschooling Right to Refuse.OrgStand for Health FreedomFluoride Action NetworkConnect with Lindsay here The Tuttle Twins - use code Cheryl40 for 40% off ages 5-11 book seriesJIBBY MUSHROOM COFFEE - try today with code CHERYL20 for 20% off!Earthley Wellness -  use code HomeschoolHowTo for 10% off your first orderTreehouseSchoolhouse for your Spring Nature Study Curriculum- use promo code: THEHOMESCHOOLHOWTOPODCAST for 10% off entire orderPlease leave a Review for me HERE!PLEASE SHARE the show with this link! Notes: Meg tells us where she goes "to integrate, to reorient around what matters most to me, and connect with the world around me and that sense of source within myself." We talk about "the good, the beautiful, and the true," and she doesn't shy away from the awkward questions I have about those words in today's world. Meg and her two children, Clancy and Celia, teach us "What Would It Take?" with its intertwining harmonies, and then later we talk about the experience of singing in harmonies and how it connects to boundarys and group awareness. Meg says, “My pathway with the voice…is about repeatedly coming back into connection with myself…and the possibility of joy.” Songwriter Info: Meg loves helping people access their innate capacity for healing, connection, and joy. She is a somatic coach, supporting individuals and couples in growth, transformation, and healing. Because she's always found the voice, and especially singing in harmony with others, to be a particularly powerful pathway for connection with ourselves and the world around us, she delights in serving as a music teacher, song leader, and vocal mentor. She hosts an annual adult and family singing retreat on the coast of Maine called SongWeavers. In addition, Meg is an Adjunct Professor for Antioch University's Graduate Program for Waldorf Teachers and for the Center for Anthroposophy's Waldorf High School Teacher Education Program. Her sources of inspiration include the small, misty mountain that overlooks her home and singing with her children, Clancy and Celia. The curriculum of this school year meets the children in these adventures and takes them into the mysteries of ancient civilizations and the magical realms of the world of trees and plants. While we look back through the lens of ancient civilizations and begin to contemplate the future, our center stays rooted in the present as we explore the realm of the plant kingdom, take further strides in mathematics, strengthen our writing skills, and create beauty every step of the way. Children at this age find themselves at a point of dynamic balance between earlier years of their childhood and the near-future years of adolescence. They feel confident, graceful, and capable most of the time, and a sense of harmony with the world becomes a part of most experiences. Explorations of the cultural beauty of several ancient civilizations (Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece) through stories, geography, art, and mythology will bring all to the early history and the many lessons Ancient Greece has given us. Language Arts curriculum will weave through all the blocks expanding children's grammar, composition, and reading capacities. Natural Science elements of the curriculum will thread through the realm of trees and plants (Botany) as we further expand our relationship to the blessings of plant life and the many gifts that we can give and receive to and from our beautiful Earth. Math curriculum will be full of color as freehand geometry and illustrated word problems accompany our practice and expanding skills of working with large numbers and fractions; and introductions to decimals, the metric system of measurement, and the ancient ways of recording numbers and measuring spaces. Main Themes of Grade 5 Language Arts: Grammar, Composition, Dictionary use, Verse and Mythologies from Ancient Cultures Mathematics: Freehand Geometry, Fractions, Standard Long Division, Decimal fractions, Metric System, Measurement, The Wonder of Number Science: Botany, some Zoology Social Studies: US Geography, Ancient History, Greek History, Map Making If you found this content helpful please consider making a donation to our non profit. My name is Tiffany Conary. I am a Waldorf homeschooling mom of seven. Two of my children are grown and left the nest, four are currently being homeschooled, and one is preschool age, but keeping up with everything her brothers and sisters are doing! I am going to be the Movement Teacher this year for Seasons of Seven. I am very excited and so eager to get to know every one of my students and their families. For the past 4 years I have been doing eurythmy movement, with multiple ages and stages, in my homeschool co-op group. This is something I enjoy doing immensely! It is interesting to see what works and what doesn't at each stage of life. I am currently working on a clear and understandable homeschool eurythmy curriculum since there is a great need for eurythmy in the home. Waldorf education is beautiful and wonderful but would not be complete without eurythmy. That is why I feel it is my call to bring eurythmy to as many homeschooling families as I possibly can. Seasons of Seven is a lovely way to provide a Waldorf education to those wanting to stay at home. YOU too should have the opportunity to do the engaging art of eurythmy as well. I am so excited to work with the younger ones and get those little bodies moving in a way that will encourage their speech process, prepare them for reading and writing, and connect their physical and etheric bodies! I am equally excited to work with the older ones to help them feel comfortable in their bodies, express the feelings they cannot with words, and to bring them into the thinking stage of life. I look forward to this year and look forward to working with you! Melisa Nielsen at Waldorf Essentials and Ms. Tiffany at Seasons of Seven discuss the many aspects of eurythmy. - Can eurythmy be done at home? - Do you have to be certified to implement eurythmy in your home and homeschooling? Part two is over on our Patreon where Ms. Tiffany and I go deeper into: - Mistakes Ms. Tiffany has navigated. - The important of knowing your temperament and how that impacts eurythmy lessons. - Can eurythmy be done outside? https://www.waldorfessentials.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/waldorf_essentials/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfEssentials/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/waldorfessentials/_created/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/WaldorfMelisa

This week on the show, we discuss the philosophical perspective of the poet and scientist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. His outlook will represent a dive deep into a different approach towards scientific empirical study -- an existentialist, humanistic approach to science that makes use of the self as a tool without tainting the study through biases. Furthered through existing concepts like Waldorf Education and Biodynamic Agriculture, Goethean Science continues to make an impact to this day, and it is all intrinsically tied to the alchemical mindset. Ranked among the great alchemical poets and playwrights like Shakespeare, Milton and Dante', Goethe's rendition of the age-old tale of Dr. Faust selling his soul has maintained itself as one of the single greatest alchemical texts that we have in the modern era, and he spent decades of his life perfecting it. But when he wasn't writing his version of Faust, he was a scientist that was making great strides in botany, color theory and much more, his name in science coming up along names like Isaac Newton (another alchemist) and Renee Descartes. And as if those associations weren't impressive already, Goethe even served to heavily inspire some legendary esoteric names such as Carl Jung and Manly P Hall (names that come up often on this show) as well as Rudolph Steiner. The Hoffman Podcast

Linda Hartka, beloved Hoffman teacher, shares her story of how doing the work of the Process healed her seemingly intractable self-loathing. As a therapist for years, Linda did many workshops and types of training to deepen her capacity and ability to hold others in their healing. And yet, her tendency to feel self-loathing didn't budge. Through the Process, she was able to finally melt away the patterns that held it in place. This same outcome has been true for so many who do the Process. The tendency to feel self-loathing is common. The Process can get to the heart of it. Linda grew up during the rise of the human consciousness movement. As a young girl, she was deeply religious until she had a realization that caused her to leave religion at eleven years old. Something didn't sit right with her big, compassionate heart and she said no and walked away. As she grew into adulthood, her heart took her deeper into compassion and spirituality, leading her to a beautiful life in service to the healing and realization of many human beings. In 1998, Linda became a Process teacher. She led students through the Process until she retired at the end of 2022. This episode gives us a glimpse into the deep love that Linda has for her family as well as for those she has worked with and continues to support. She's worked with many different communities, including women at the City of Hope in the Congo. Linda is not only a natural facilitator of healing but also a storyteller extraordinaire. Listen in as she shares fascinating, heart-opening stories about her life and the lives of those she has been fortunate to know and work with, both at the Hoffman Process and other places around the world. More about Linda Hartka Linda has been with the Hoffman Institute since beginning her training in 1998, as a teacher, coach, and program designer. She holds a master's degree in Counseling Psychotherapy and has studied and worked in psychology and spirituality for over forty years. Before she found Hoffman, she began her career as a childbirth educator and doula, trained as a Waldorf Education teacher, and settled into a private transpersonal therapy practice specializing in Psychosynthesis until taking the Process in 1996. The transformative impact of the Process was so life-changing, that Linda wanted nothing more than to bring that change to as many as possible. Her years as a teacher have been filled with love, joy, and miracles! Linda lives in rural upstate New York, surrounded by her large family of five children, their spouses, eight grandchildren, and abundant birds and wildlife. She semi-retired in December 2022 to enjoy her family and artistic endeavors. She continues with her private practice and occasionally guest teaches for the Hoffman Institute. In this episode I chat to ceremonialist and spiritual coach, Mara Branscombe. You might be familiar with Mara from her yoga teacher offerings, but she's also known for her ritual work which is what we talk about from her beautiful new book - Ritual as Remedy: Embodied Practices for Soul Care. What I enjoyed about her book is how Mara invites us to explore our inner mystic through esoteric self-care practices. One of my personal favourite practices is working with the elements, so I wanted Mara to share why the elements are important to acknowledge inwardly and out. We also discuss how and why people are affected by the wind, and how we can use wind as an ally for inspiration. Mara shares the difference between a ritual, a habit and a superstition, like when someone wears a good luck charm. You don't have to be into dancing in the moonlight, or bathing in it for that matter to love this book, all you need is an open heart. I hope you love Mara as much as I do! HIGHLIGHTS: - Mara talks about her background as an adventurer, Waldorf Education school teacher and dancer - all these combined experiences shine through in her new book. Mara also expands on the varied traditions she has experienced that allowed her to create a unique manual of practices. - We talk about spiritual longing, what it is and what longing feels like, and what it means to ritualize healthy habits, and how do we do this? - We discuss becoming the witness. A practice that is not as easy as it sounds. ABOUT MARA: Mara Branscombe is a mother, writer, yogi, artist, teacher, mindfulness leader, ceremonialist and spiritual coach. She is the author of “Ritual As Remedy: Embodied Practices For Soul Care.” Mara is passionate about weaving the art of mindfulness, self-care, creativity, mind–body practices, and earth-based rituals into her life and work, and she has been leading community ceremony since 2000. website: https://marabranscombe.com

In the US, we think "freedom" is about choices.  And, it partly is.  But true freedom is about so much more.  It's about being free from our engrained patterns of responses to the external world.  From our sense of identity.  Free to consistently explore, change and evolve who we are, without feeling tied to old thoughts, behaviours and beliefs.  That can be easier said than done, but the groundwork to help us do so can be laid early on, during our education.I sit down with Wade Cavin, a dedicated and brilliant Waldorf Educator, to ask him what our education system is missing at its root, why that's important, how we might approach our education differently, for our children and for ourselves as adults, and why it might be beneficial to do so.He also speaks to why it's so important for humans of all ages to cultivate awareness of their intuition, imagination, their interests, and desires, because those are the signs that direct them on how to live their life.  This was an incredibly enlightening conversation for me... even more so on the second listen as I was editing it.  I hope you enjoy it.  www.thisnakedvoice.com@thisnakedvoiceSupport the show

Do you ever question… Should your ‘out of the box' child have a traditional diagnosis? Should you tell your child about their diagnosis ? If so, when and what do you say?   What are the emotional consequences for your child that comes with knowing, or not knowing, about a diagnosis? In today's episode, I speak with Jada D'Angelo, a school counselor and neuroscience enthusiast. Jada and I speak candidly about raising children with ADHD and the cause and effects of having a child traditionally diagnosed and what comes with sharing, or not sharing, the diagnosis with your child. About Jada “For as long as I can remember I have loved people. As a young adult I quickly became a self-proclaimed psycho-social geek and began studying anything I could get my hands on relating to holistic wellness. Fueled by these interests I pursued a career in education. I obtained a double major in Integrative Education as well Waldorf Education for my Master's degree and was able to teach for more than a decade in public and private schools in three countries. I taught preschool all the way through high school and had the honor to enter into the precious lives of students with a large spectrum of social, cultural, and neuro-diversity. After years in the classroom I harnessed my love for hearing someone's story and advocating for their sense of success and joy and pursued a post- Master's degree in School Counseling. Working with students and families one on one is my heart song and I find great joy in igniting the pilot light within others. For the past several years I have been working with private clients as well as in the private and public school sector as a counselor. When I am not intently listening or training myself on the latest neurscience, I enjoy doing all things outdoors, traveling, and snapping pictures, and hanging with my family (humans and fur) crew. And, as you can imagine, I am always up for listening to a great story." Lifewithjades@gmail.com   Your Host: Hi, I'm Ashleigh Tolliver, and this podcast is a road map to Parenting That Kid. As a mother to a highly sensitive little boy, I know what it means to parent a child who does not fit into the ‘box' modern society has put children into. My mission is to help other parents of “that kid” feel less alone, more confident, and more equipped by asking the tough questions to the professionals, gathering tools and resources and connecting with other moms who are wrestling with the same struggles. If recording my journey as I seek a clear starting point, community, and effort to normalize a life with a highly emotional, sometimes out-of-control child, supports at least one parent, then my time is not wasted. And if it doesn't well, there's documented proof that moms deserve a glass of wine. Cheers     Thanks for listening! It means so much to us that you listened to our podcast! Today on Q&A Friday, I talk about how to mindfully navigate resistance and aggressive language in our children. With no simple one-size-fits-all approach, I guide you in understanding that each situation requires a personal tailored response: one that is in the best interest of your child. You'll learn the importance of a child being able to express themselves, and how to look beyond their behavior with kindness and empathy for underlying issues that they may be trying to express. Discover seven reasons that can cause resistance and aggressive language, which include being overwhelmed, the inability to express emotions, mimicking their personal experiences, and changing communication styles. Plus, you'll get some suggestions to navigate this behavior, from creating consistent home rhythms to holding boundaries, remaining calm in resistant situations, and acknowledging major developmental milestones. I hope you'll join me for this informative and encouraging episode!Key Points From This Episode:Navigating your child's resistance while considering potential underlying causes. How allowing your child to express themselves builds connections and strengthens relationships.A list of seven things to consider when understanding resistant behavior.Suggestions on how to combat resistant behavior. Why adults must make bigger decisions and let children choose between two smaller choices. How being overwhelmed can mirror being resistant. The ways an adult can support their child through situations that trigger resistance. What the Waldorf Education system defines as the individuation process. The healing power of telling stories. How to tame, work with, and deal with aggressive language and behaviorLinks Mentioned in Today's Episode:We Nurture CollectiveWe Nurture on InstagramWe Nurture on FacebookThe Three Little Deers and the Great Storm
