In this episode, we sit down and have a fantastic conversation with Dog Parenting Coach, Author, and Social Entrepreneur, Angie Winters. We discuss her book, Don't Train Your Dog: A Pet Parenting Guide to teaching good behavior, calming fears and raising happy dogs, the plight of "hard to home" rescue dogs and how switching to the Dog Parenting mindset, using her "recipes" for teaching dogs and making them happy.....and her "prescriptions" for fixing unwanted behavior, is extremely effective and respectful, compared to the typical dog training we've all been taught and is widely pushed by our society. Join us for this incredibly enlightening and educational conversation! Bio: For Angie Winters, author of Don't Train Your Dog, helping dogs is more than a job— it's a calling. As a dog parenting coach and social entrepreneur for over 20 years, Angie has obsessively studied, raised, and rehabilitated over 1,000 dogs…and helped their parents. Her record for fixing "broken" dogs—who were deemed unfixable by typical dog trainers, vets, medications, behavioral experts, parents, and rescues—is unparalleled. Using a careful understanding of dog emotion and effective communication, Angie's cutting-edge dog parenting philosophy helps dog parents, rescues, and prison dog training programs nationwide. Angie has had dog parents drive from as far as California to seek out her coaching at her Ohio home. Her mission is to create a world where dogs are understood and valued for their incredible gifts, leading to happier and healthier lives for both dogs and their parents. Raquel shares her journey through chronic pain, anxiety, and sensory overwhelm—and how practices like yoga, Somatic Experiencing, and TRE helped her reconnect with her body and identity. We explore the healing that comes from self-awareness, the power of slowing down, and how honoring your nervous system can open the door to a more authentic life.Whether you're neurodivergent yourself or supporting someone who is, Raquel's story is a beautiful reminder that our differences aren't something to fix—they're something to embrace.About RaquelRaquel Devillé is a Neurodiversity Therapist and creator of the EnCorps Method, a seven-step, body-based system designed to help atypical women embrace their neurodiversity without medication or traditional therapies. Raquel's journey began as she struggled with chronic pain, anxiety, and sensory overload, challenges that intensified after she became a mother. These difficulties made her question conventional methods of coping and inspired her to seek alternative solutions. Do you hate when your kids don't seem to “get it”? Like when you have clearly explained why they should be more kind, or shown them how to share, or tried to talk them down from the upset…all to have it get you nowhere? Today, I'm gonna unpack why this common error I call "parenting from the neck up" just doesn't land. And the good news is … you will get so much more cooperation and change in behavior when you have an alternative to this error. Let's dive in and clarify:• What actually helps, when children are resistant, emotional, or defiant (RED), and their brains are not logical.• Why it's important to stop arguing the "lyrics" (content), and listen to the "music" (feelings). • How to use emotional attunement for better results. Also- I'm sharing a personal example of when I was reeeeeealy parenting from the neck up and super frustrated. If I can turn it around- friends, you can too! In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Miraglia serves as the Chief Dental Officer at Toothpillow, a preventative, pre-orthodontic system designed to correct and support proper jaw development, promoting nasal breathing and preventing many health problems. Toothpillow addresses the root causes of misaligned teeth, often without the need for braces or tooth extraction. In today's conversation: How most children (and adults) have undersized jaws, and what you can do to grow your jaw Why mouth-breathing makes a difference in sleep, bedwetting, behaviour and more (and what to do about it) How braces only fix a symptom, and don't treat the cause (and don't often work long-term) 3 steps to start the healing process, starting at the root cause Dr Ben's Links: Toothpillow Instagram HEREDr. Ben Miraglia's Instagram HERE Website: https://www.toothpillow.com/**Use the code "Parenting Coach" to receive a complimentary evaluation from a highly trained Airway Dentist and $250 off treatment when you book between March 24th-31st, 2025 If you book outside of these dates, you'll still receive 50% off the consultation and $100 off treatment!Make sure to mention "Parenting Coach" in the referral section when booking**---Links to Crystal's work, to help on your own inner journey: Intuitive Journaling Prompts HERE and a somatic meditation (Move through frustration in 15 minutes or less) HERE, The Art of Non-Attachment Workshop HEREGet started on this work with daily practice in a journal, Burn This Book (a great intro to mental and emotional wellness) HEREWork with Crystal 1:1: www.coachcrystal.ca/miracle or in group: www.coachcrystal.ca/creationroomGrab your copy of Crystal's feelings wheel here: www.coachcrystal.ca/wheel
In this powerful and deeply personal episode, I sit down with Raquel Deville to talk about what it means to fully embrace neurodivergence. Raquel supports her clients in managing chronic stress, anxiety, sensory overload, and social exhaustion by reconnecting with their bodies and empowering them to live authentically. Raquel's journey began as she struggled with chronic pain, anxiety, and sensory overload, challenges that intensified after she became a mother. These difficulties made her question conventional methods of coping and inspired her to seek alternative solutions. The turning point came when she discovered practices like yoga, TRE, and Somatic Experiencing, which allowed her to manage her symptoms and embrace her neurodivergence.Through her transformation, Raquel developed the EnCorps Method, a framework that guides neurodivergent women to reconnect with their bodies and thrive on their own terms.About TheresaA wife and a mother to two children and grandmother, Theresa Alexander Inman is a Parenting Coach, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Infant Toddler Development Specialist, Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, introduced to behavior analysis in 2007 after years in the juvenile justice system. Her goal is to improve the lives of children and families by helping them strategize child develop skills to prevent or reduce the effects of possible delays while having fun! Welcome to today's episode, where we are looking at how our words and actions affect our children's hearts? Are we nurturing them or unknowingly creating a disconnect? We are going to start off by looking at Colossians 3:21 By obeying this verse - which calls us to not provoke our children to wrath (which is a commonly known translation). So how do we do that? I have 6 simple ideas that will help you encourage rather than discourage your child - TBH - they are simple to talk about, but harder to implement - which makes them all the more important for us to think about and check how we are doing. I was in Chicago last week-end speaking at the Midwest Motherhood Conference - it was amazing! We laughed and cried and connected with so many friends and made new friends – the atmosphere was electric and I was so honored to speak to all these women. At this conference we had young women – some pregnant with their first, some pregnant with their 3rd or more.We had moms of elementary aged children and middle school kids.We had moms of high schoolers, college-age kids, and moms of children who have left the home. And one thing we all had in common was that everyone in that room gave up a Saturday morning for I think three reasons. What role do early attachment relationships play in shaping who we become? In this episode, Dr. Alan Sroufe, a pioneering researcher in attachment, shares decades of insights from his groundbreaking longitudinal study. Together we explore: - How Dr. Sroufe's research answered the question: Do early experiences leave a lasting legacy? - Why resilience isn't just about thriving in the face of adversity, but is deeply rooted in the strength of attachment relationships. - The importance of early relationships in helping children develop a sense of safety, positive self-worth, and durable relationships. - A hopeful message that attachment isn't fixed and that secure relationships in adolescence and adulthood can change developmental trajectories, even after challenging childhoods. - Why the quality, not quantity, of time with your child matters most (and what babies can teach us about connection). - How parents can help shape the meaning children make of their world and guide them through challenges with empathy. Dr. Sroufe's work shows that while early experiences are never erased, they're always building blocks for growth—and recovery is always possible. READ THE BOOK DR.
