The greatest bond we have on earth is the bond with our spouse. There is no mistaking that everything in our world, plus Satan and his demons, are trying to tear that apart. Divorce is not an option. God does not like divorce at all. He doesn't like it for any reason whatsoever. There seems to be some provision for divorce when there is abuse/abandonment and unfaithfulness with another person. But, even then, God would prefer it to be worked out and stay married if at all possible. No, you are right. This is not easy. It is very difficult. But by God's grace and both parties working towards the goal of honoring God, it CAN be done.

As we continue in Ephesians chapter 5, the Apostle Paul continues to address certain segments of society within the church. Verses 22-33 directs our attention to marriage. Concerning this fundamental and basic unit of society, Paul speaks to wives and to husbands and their relationship one to the other. You will notice this relationship between the marriage of man and woman follows on from two previous statements. In verse 18 each is to be filled with the Spirit and verse 22 each is to submit one to the other out of reverence for Christ. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Ephesians chapter 5 verse 22 on the Unchanging Word Bible podcast. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/unchanging-word/message
Our call is to mutual submission, to yielding the privilege of self-determination to the other. This will make for maximum joy in a marriage. But it's not just about us. Not even mainly about us. It's so that we who are blessed to have a mate can show the world what sacrificial, redeeming love truly looks like. Our marriages were meant more for holiness than happiness. They are meant for witness than secret satisfaction. Spouses are a splendid gift from God. But the work we put into our marriages is our gift to Christ Jesus, the true bridegroom of every man and woman.

A Word For Wives And Husbands
Exhortation: To Wives and Husbands
Peter teaches throughout his epistle of a Living Hope found in Christs alone. This week, Peter specifically talks about the hope that is found in marriages when wives and husbands submit to one another out of their love for Christ.
Perfectly Blended - A Podcast for Couples with Step-Families
“Should Wives and Husbands Both Submit in Marriage?” That's the burning question we're tackling in this episode of “The Couple on Fire Podcast.” We've all heard the traditional views on submission in marriage, but what does the Bible really say? Is submission a one-way street, or is it a mutual journey that both spouses should embark on? In this episode, we dive deep into the Scriptures to explore the true meaning of submission in a Christian marriage. We kick things off by discussing how submission starts with our relationship with Jesus Christ. From there, we challenge the notion that submission is a sign of weakness, highlighting how even Jesus Himself demonstrated submission as an act of strength and humility. We then explore the often misunderstood Ephesians 5 passage, breaking down how it calls for mutual love and respect between husbands and wives. Finally, we discuss how submission is not about control but is a form of love and respect that should be reciprocated in any healthy, Christ-centered marriage. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion that challenges traditional views and encourages both husbands and wives to practice mutual submission as a way to strengthen their marriage and deepen their relationship with Christ.
