In the Book of Genesis 24:10–27, Abraham's servant begins his difficult journey with prayerful dependence upon God. As he watches Rebekah's kindness, hospitality, and servant-hearted character, he recognizes God's hand in providing a spouse capable of fulfilling the Lord's covenant promise through Isaac. Even in the excitement of answered prayer, the servant pauses to worship and give thanks, reminding us to seek God first and honor Him when He faithfully provides.

Storytelling is something we all do on a daily basis, whether we're aware of it or not. Maybe we're telling a funny anecdote about something that happened on the way to work. Perhaps we're recounting how we first met the bride during a wedding speech. Or how about retelling our favourite folk tale to help soothe a child to sleep? Storytelling and folklore are not synonyms. Folklore is a body of knowledge created primarily by the people for transmission between themselves. Folk tales are the stories told by these same people, though the definition of a folk tale varies. Yet storytelling can be the bridge between the two, enabling the ongoing transmission of folklore from a teller to a group of avid listeners. The English and Welsh storytelling revival began in the early 1980s, and we can thank its success for the plethora of storytelling events, books, and podcasts now available. Devon Energy and Coterra Energy's newly announced merger didn't come as a huge surprise. They have highly complementary assets in the Permian and the Anadarko and their deal promises $1 billion or more in synergy-related savings. Finally — and this is important — their combination had been urged on by an activist investor.

On this episode of Taste Buds with Deb, host Debra Eckerling speaks with matchmaker, dating coach, and TV writer Jaydi Samuels Kuba, author of "Your Last First Date: Secrets from a Hollywood Matchmaker."   Food, dating, and Jewish tradition are all connected. They compliment each other. There's a right and wrong way to choose venues and food for first dates; like finding someone's perfect match, there's an art and craft to it.     For Kuba, matchmaking was a natural progression for her personality; it leaned into her love for connecting people to what - or who - they need.   "I always would help people find new friends, find new jobs, find a roommate, whatever people were searching for in their life," she explains. "As I started getting older, and there was more of a need around me, whether it was friends … co coworkers or colleagues looking for love, I just … started matching people in that way."    Kuba was working as a TV writer for "Family Guy" when she started her matchmaking side hustle, which turned into a full-blown business and passion. It's also how she met her husband, who she matched five times before they started dating. Her book, which she began working on during the writers strike, started as a "how to" before her publisher suggested she changed to a narrative style. In it, she gives dating advice to the characters in the book; info anyone reading can learn from.    Jaydi Samuels Kuba shares her matchmaking journey, what she hopes readers will get out of "Your Last First Date," and lots of dating advice, especially as it relates to restaurants and food recs. Let's explore attachment styles. Luis has learned from personal experience that avoidant attachment types are simply bodies overwhelmed by a connection that feels overly needy, like a burden, and as a result they over-identify with independence. Anxious attachment types seek safety outside of themselves, and often end up seeking that safety in an avoidant partner. So anxious types and avoidant types often end up partnered. The overwhelmed avoidant's behavior "proves" to the anxious type their need to grasp for safety, while that same grasping "proves" to the avoidant type that they need to run.
