About the book Spunky and outspoken Eve Appel moves from Connecticut to rural Florida intent on starting a new life, free of drama, and more importantly, her soon-to-be ex- husband. The rural Florida town of Sabal Bay, situated only an hour from West Palm, proves to be the perfect spot for her consignment store. Thanks to the recent economic downturn, Florida’s society matrons need a place to discreetly sell their stuff and pick up expensive-looking bargains. But Eve’s life, and her business with it, is turned upside down when a wealthy customer is found stabbed to death in a fitting room. As accusations fly and business slows, Eve decides to take things into her own hands. With the help of an unlikely bunch of friends—including her estranged ex, her best friend, a handsome private eye, and a charming mafia don—she struggles to find answers and save lives. Through a maze of distorted half-truths, dramatic cover-ups, and unrequited passions, Eve learns just how far the wealthy will go to regain what they have lost. A Secondhand Murder is Book 1 of the Eve Appel Mysteries Series. About the author Lesley retired from her life as a professor of psychology and reclaimed her country roots by moving to a small cottage in the Butternut River Valley in upstate New York. In the winter she migrates to old Florida--cowboys, scrub palmetto, and open fields of grazing cattle, a place where spurs still jingle in the post office. Back north, she devotes her afternoons to writing and, when the sun sets, relaxing on the bank of her trout stream, sipping tea or a local microbrew. With the help of her friends at the assisted living facility, Bert, a farmer from Oklahoma, Roxie, the stressed-out activities director and Gabriel, a cat with the gift of forecasting death, she soon discovers there’s humor to be found in forgetting part of the Lord’s Prayer, finding her iron in the freezer and losing a half-gallon of ice cream. What does purity look like? Is it recognizable to the average teenage girl? Does she know that purity should be at the very foundation of her identity over makeup, short skirts, and finding a boyfriend? Purity carries an unpopular message in our culture, but the ignorance of purity could quite possibly be the greatest cause of the low self-esteem epidemic among teenage girls in our society. If a girl doesn’t understand what kind of woman she was created to become, then chances are she will believe lies about herself from modern culture. As a result, throughout her life she will behave as if she’s a much lesser being than her creator meant her to be. She may even become sexually active early in an attempt to feel desired and accepted. It’s time she learns that her true beauty radiates brightly from the inside out! The Identity of Purity will: 1. Define what purity is from God’s perspective…not the world’s. 2. Teach teenage girls Biblically about their true identity and purpose amid the lies from media and pop culture. 3. Guide teenage girls to sexual purity through a deeper walk with their creator. 4. Help teenage girls overcome 5 major obstacles to living a lifestyle of purity.

In 1992, Judi Ciance and her husband, Paul, moved from Worcester, Massachusetts, over the Bourne Bridge, to their home in Centerville. Paul had just retired after serving thirty years on the Worcester Police Department. The tables turned. He retired from the Criminal Justice System and Judi became a part of it. For the next eleven years, Ciance held various positions in the Barnstable County Court System and the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office. She eventually achieved the position of Assistant Deputy Superintendent. That, and her life with a police officer, unleashed her imagination and led her to create the character, Casey Quinby.
This book is the result of many years of lay ministry and study. It is also the result of seeing how this world is changing and how truth is becoming less important every day. Jesus Christ is the Truth for all time. It was Jesus himself who said that many people would miss the truth, abandon the faith, and miss eternity with God. The Bible also states that there will be great deception in the last days. This book is written to fight that deception.
