Have you ever felt betrayed, alone or in the midst of hardship? We serve a king who has been in deep hardship and can empathize with our pain. As we look at Jesus in Matthew 26 we can see how a deep trust in our father can bring us strength through the trials we face.
In the midst of deep waters, during the hardships and turbulence of life; we are never too far gone. God is full of mercy, is always reconciling and always considers his children. As we walk in light of his mercy, can we allow that mercy to change us.
With lives filled with uncertainty and trials, anxiety can fill our hearts and threaten to divide our souls. In the midst of turbulent times, Jesus shows us the way we might walk through hardship as we cast our anxiety on a God who cares for us.
As Jesus approaches the cross the most religious of Jesus' day miss the kingdom life that was on offer. Here in Matthew 23, Jesus challenges those that seek him to recognize the kingdom within their midst, and to faithfully pursue it.
Often we can miss the greater realities in the midst of the small things we believe to be most important. In Matthew 22, we see Jesus invite those that oppose him to see the bigger picture. Then, as it is now, humanity benefits from humbly seeking what the Lord lays out for us.
What does it mean to claim Jesus as our King? In Matthew 22 we see that if we recognize Jesus as King we are called to let go of control, faithfully seek the ways of Jesus, and bring his kingdom here.
As Jesus comes to his people he comes like a king of old. But the rule of King Jesus does not just call attention to his power, but also calls attention to our participation in His eternal story. Will we recognize King Jesus in our lives today?
