Lallie's mom owned her own nursery school, before becoming a public school teacher and her father was the first African American telephone installer for Southern Bell. After attending local private schools, Lallie attended college at South Carolina State in Orangeburg. While at college, Lallie got introduced to drugs, alcohol, marriage and motherhood.
