Talking with God is our privilege, an honor that we often overlook. To be with Him, to have His attention is a priceless gift He pours into us life and love as we take time to be in His presence. Let today's scriptures remind you of these truths.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. The truth of being free in Christ is explained in today's meditation. It is sometimes hard for us to comprehend the reality of this as we tend to interpret freedom with movement and choices. The Scriptures speak of us being rescued from ‘the tyrannical rule of darkness', and this rescue releases us from the chains of sin. Might we consider that this too, has freed us to move – to stretch high and wide into new places of spiritual growth in Christ.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. Paul reminds the Philippians (and us!) to not fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray; encouraging us to let Jesus be the center of our life. He will also displace our worry, our fears and our doubts. When we choose to rejoice, and trust Him, He gives us a sense of belonging, of wholeness. Every word God speaks is truth, life and holy. To speak truth is to speak life into another. To contemplate the truth is to integrate life into our being, letting it become us, that all that we speak is what the Holy Spirit has given us to speak – life and healing into the world that the world through Jesus' life might know our Father's love for each person. Such amazing truths about death! Without God's love and gift of dying for us, we would never see life as He intended for us to see nor experience the life He died to give to us. Grace is favor. It is a blessing the moment it is bestowed on another person. God sees our hearts and knows our intent. To withhold judgement is to build a fence of protection around someone struggling to be accepted. Grace and mercy kiss and the Lord's favor flows over the wounds those needing a kind word. There are many definitions of love in the Scriptures. All are facets of the same precious essence of God Himself. We are challenged throughout the Scriptures to be generous. We are encouraged to live from a heart that is not afraid of loss but is willing to love with an extravagance that cannot be quenched. Only in that way, will we experience the extravagant love that God has already given to us. One of the definitions for 'glory' is: magnificence or great beauty. Such is the description of God, and yet it falls short. We don't have words to describe the majesty, the immense beauty of God Almighty. Perhaps the Passion Translation of the Bible offers us a fresh glimpse of how we might view our "Beloved Father" ..."may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn." James writes that peace is a seed from the fruit called spiritual maturity. It is 'sown in peace by those who make peace by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals.' We must have the seed to sow it. It is a release of our desires for the deeper healing of Jesus' presence. His peace is ours, giving us the seeds that can be sown in others' hearts. Throughout history, God has entered the physical realm of earth and time to speak to us, to walk with us, and to guide us. When God entered our world as Jesus, He opened the door for us to enter eternity. From the moment we believe the truth of who Jesus is and trust Him, we are given a new role. Now we have access to God in eternity because His Spirit is with us in Time. Here we live, but there we reign.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. Patience involves understanding timing, an element in this world that is beyond our control. Yet, being patient is within our control. It is a force of our will to restrain from selfish desires, from pushing ahead when we need to stand still and let God be God. The measure of our maturity can be seen in how we handle ourselves with patience. Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. Once again, the realm of God's kingdom turns our world upside down. Real freedom is being free from self-indulgence. When we control our desires, and seek another's well-being, we are loving deeply and restoring life and freedom in this world. Although different attributes of our behavior and attitudes, kindness and gentleness are closely related. Both convey a sweet attitude toward others. Kindness is an act as well as an attitude. It reaches out, is sympathetic and soothes the rough edges of life that another person is wrestling with. As you listen today, let kindness become a tangible action in your thoughts and actions by taking in the reality of these living words and letting them be who you are when you are with others.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. It is an interesting concept - to clothe ourselves with gentleness. Might that be one of the qualities people see first when they meet us? Might that be what we wear in our homes and in the marketplace? What would change in our world if we walked through our day with the heart of gentleness toward every creature, every person? Father, would you place this quality of character across our shoulders, that we might carry your compassion everywhere we go?Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. As a father in a family is a living example of how to respond to life's challenges, so our Father God, demonstrates a life of faithfulness by keeping His promises to us. In turn, we are to mimic, to learn how to be faithful to Him and to those in our life. It is a bond, God's promise of standing with us that expresses the depth of love and honor that we in turn can do the same to those around us. Of all the expressions of emotions we have, love seems to be the easiest and the hardest to share. The well-known chapter, 1 Corinthians 13 is used to describe the way to live yet we find it unattainable, because we try to do it rather than letting Jesus do it through us. What does the power of God look like? As we see God revealed throughout His Word, we see a God who is all-powerful, One who can do all things, One for whom there is nothing too difficult. So, for what does He use His power? He has done and continues to do everything in His mighty power to save us, to redeem us, to set us free to be all He created us to be, to reconcile us to Himself, His children, who are created in His likeness and for His glory. The power of God does what we cannot do! In turn our greatest power and privilege is to surrender to what He is doing - loving us, so we learn how to love others. the love of God. God is love. Our union with Jesus is a holy mystery. There may be moments when we experience being enveloped by perfect Love and times when we sense perfect Peace. Yet, whether or not we sense or feel Him, the truth is He is with us, we are with Him just as He said in John 17:22, "The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us." Is it not the unveiling of God's plan? Might we seek to look and be our best, to occupy our time here with growing up into maturity so that when the time comes, when we go home, we are indeed recognized as looking like Him, acting like Him, and belonging to Him? Jesus held no distinction between people. His friends were not determined by their wealth or interests. He accepted people as they were, giving them dignity and hope. Most of us know 'who we are'. We're aware of our inability to live to expectations and find ourselves disappointed within and with others. Our troubles are not light nor do they seem momentary, but it is our perspective that must be adjusted. Only in light of eternity, with the view of God's presence and our hope for an eternal future will it all look different. In the beginning, God set many things into effect. In His creating, He did not just make provision for one day, but put various laws into motion to carry on the "creating" from day to day. If we want a good return in/for our lives, the first thing to do is to sow good seeds. And what are those good seeds? In Luke's gospel, chapter 8, Jesus tells the parable of the sower. "This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God (verse 11)." Good seed is the word spoken by God and, consequently anything spoken by us that aligns itself with that word. What does your garden look like? It is filled with the products of your words. Your words produce your surroundings. The amazing fact of being 'in Jesus' is that whatever happens in our lives, whatever we do, God has promised to work it toward His purpose for us. It is easy to look for the result and ignore or be impatient with the process. Such is true with being a branch in Jesus and waiting to 'bear fruit'. We point to love, joy and peace and the outcome, and they are. We try to be them, make it happen yet it is only by being connected to the trunk and root of the Vine, and allowing the flow of nutrients to the full extent of who we are that we participate in the development of fruit. Remain in Him and you will enjoy the process of becoming one who offers the fruit of peace to those who need the refreshment of peace.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. Being honest with ourselves is the first step to being vulnerable with God. It is knowing we need Him that frees us to begin to trust Him with examining our souls. We are fragile, made of earth, easily broken, and not easily fixed. We ask Him to take a look, wondering if this particular break is beyond His care, His abilities. He knows we are small and unsure. Yet our trust opens our hearts to the true nature of God - revealed in every word He speaks. Every child learns what is right, how to live well through the careful and kind guidance from a parent or parent model in their life.
