CLICK HERE FOR 2025 RETREATLive Unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus ChristRomans 1:16-17 “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous will live by faith.”I first read this verse in the Passion Translation this morning, and it says, “I refuse to be ashamed of the wonderful message of God's liberating power unleashed in us through Christ! For I am thrilled to preach that everyone who believes is saved – the Jew first, and then people everywhere! The gospel unveils a continual revelation of God's righteousness – a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith to the power of living by faith. This is what the scripture means when it says: "We are right with God through life-giving faith!”I love how these verses emphasize that God's power is for everyone who believes. The message we are tasked with spreading is not just for the Jewish people, or any group of people. It is for anyone who believes. This is important to remember because at times we can get very selective about who we do and do not give the message too. Sometimes we can avoid sharing the message with some people because they may not fit our idea of what a Christian should be. We might look at them and immediately judge them by what they look like or how they are dressed. We were tasked with bringing the message to every single person in all corners of the earth. It is not up to us to decide who is worthy or not worthy of hearing the word. We never know who needs to hear the Gospel.I recall a story about a group of people in Ireland who were learning to use the evangelization tool called 'Jesus Knocking'. They were taught how to use it, and then they were sent out on the streets to knock on doors and begin telling people about Jesus. These two men, who were particularly shy, knocked on this one guy's door. When the man answered, they could see he was a biker, part of a gang, and he looked kinda scary. The first thing he did was tell them they had to come inside because he couldn't be seen. He had a warrant out for his arrest. They were very nervous to go inside this guy's house, but they did. They were certain that he would not want to hear what they had to say, but they asked him anyway. He said, “Sure, I will listen.” Then, when they got to the part where they asked if he wanted to have a personal encounter with Jesus, he said yes. They were so surprised. It turns out he was very nice and that Jesus was just what he needed in his life. Once he turned his life over to Jesus, everything changed for him. A few weeks later, he happened to be in a car with fellow gang members when the car got stopped. He thought about lying about who he was so that he didn't get arrested because he still had a warrant out for his arrest. Although now that he had found Jesus, he knew he couldn't lie. When they asked what his name was, he told them. They looked him up in the system and said he was free to go. He has no idea what happened to the warrant, but he was so grateful to God for saving him.The verse also says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith.” I love to think about the power of God that we have living inside of us. However, this reminds us that the Gospel is also the power of God. I think we forget how powerful the Gospel can be. I think we can take it for granted sometimes and forget that not everyone knows how great God is. Not everyone has heard that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. Jesus loved them so much they he took every bad thing they ever did and will ever do to the cross with Him.The amazing thing about the Gospel is that even if people have heard it before, they may hear it again, and it hits them in a different way. Maybe something they have gone through in their life has prepared them to hear it differently this time. Maybe life has been rough, and the idea that Jesus loves them and would do anything for them is exactly what they needed to hear that day. Being Catholic, we get to hear the Gospel every Sunday at Mass. The Gospel is not something new to us, and if we are honest, probably not always exciting. We can let it become mundane and ordinary if we are not careful, because we do have ready access to it, and we do hear it all the time at Mass. However, we must never forget the power of the Gospel. When the apostles first started bringing the Gospel to all parts of the world, people were hungry for it. They were baptizing several people everywhere they went. The world is just as hungry for it today. We just don't think to spread it because we live in a culture that seems to be open to everything except Christianity. Nowadays, we are afraid of talking about the Gospels and about Jesus because we don't want to offend someone, or we don't want to be attacked for our beliefs. The time when Jesus lived, the time after he died, when the apostles were spreading the Gospel around the world, it was not a friendly place for Christians either. I mean, we might get rejected, or maybe even yelled at for trying to share the Gospel. However, the apostles were stoned to death or crucified for sharing the Gospel. Over the last 2000 years or so, there have been times when it was dangerous for your life to share the gospel. It still is in some countries.I remember when I lived in England, we went to visit a historic house, and when we took the tour, they showed us the hidden hole in the wall where the Catholic priest would hide if the police came to search the house. In 1559, it became illegal in the United Kingdom to practice mass. It did not become legal again until 1791.We might not live in a particularly friendly culture when it comes to sharing the Gospel, and yet, if the apostles can do it at the risk of being stoned to death, surely we can do it with the risk of rejection? There are people still in this day and age who are risking their lives to bring the Gospel to people in countries that do not allow freedom of religion. I don't think we are all called to do that. I do believe we are all called to be an example of the Gospel to all those we meet.We are all called to live our lives as an example of Christ and His love for us. We are meant to live out the Gospel in our day-to-day lives. You know all those parables found in the Gospels, those are to show us how to live our lives so that others will see how we live, what we have, and they will want it. I don't mean what we have, as in possessions, I mean what we have, as in the love of God, the peace of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit. How are we doing with this? Are we being brave? Are we asking the Lord for a Holy Boldness so we can live our lives unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? You all know how much I love a good song. I have had the chorus of a song going through my head this whole time, and yet I couldn't quite make out the words. Has that ever happened to you? You know a song, and yet you can't think of it when you want to. Well, writing that last sentence in that last paragraph finally jogged my memory. The song is called Unashamed, and it is by Matthew West.  I know we are a bit on the longer side today, but I really want you to hear the lyrics.Three brothers in a fireWilling to die for their faithBut You were with them in the fireAnd they walked out the next dayAnd Daniel met a lionBecause he chose to prayBut You shut the mouth of that lionAnd he walked out the next day[Pre-Chorus]So what's gonna be said of me when it's all said and done? Will I stand for my beliefs or will I turn around and run?Well, let the whole world hear me say[Chorus]I'm unashamedOf the gospel of Jesus ChristAnd the truth that changed my lifeFor the name above all namesI'm unashamedAnd I will live my faith out loudTake a stand and stand my groundFor the One who took my shameI'm unashamed[Verse 2]I don't answer to the crowdI answer to a kingSo the louder they shoutOh, the louder I sing, yeah[Pre-Chorus]So what's gonna be said of me when it's all said and done? Will I stand for my beliefs or will I turn around and run?Well, let the whole world hear me say[Chorus]I'm unashamedOf the gospel of Jesus ChristAnd the truth that changed my lifeFor the name above all namesI'm unashamedAnd I will live my faith out loudTake a stand and stand my groundFor the One who took my shameI'm unashamed [Bridge]At the name of JesusEvery knee will bowAnd every tongue confessSo let it start right nowBefore you come back, LordBefore the rocks cry outI will lift my praiseLet it start right now [Chorus]I'm unashamedOf the gospel of Jesus ChristAnd the truth that changed my lifeFor the name above all namesI'm unashamed, yeahAnd I will live my faith out loudTake a stand and stand my groundFor the One who took my shameI'm unashamed(I'm unashamed)Oh, I'm unashamed (I'm unashamed)I want the world to hear me sayI'm unashamed(I'm unashamed)Oh, I'm unashamedFor the One who took my shameI'm unashamed [Outro]Lord, I will stand for YouI tell the world about YouI'm unashamedDear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all of those who are listening to this episode. One of the definitions for 'glory' is: magnificence or great beauty. Such is the description of God, and yet it falls short. We don't have words to describe the majesty, the immense beauty of God Almighty. Perhaps the Passion Translation of the Bible offers us a fresh glimpse of how we might view our "Beloved Father" ..."may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn." Send us a textBrian Simmons returns after facing significant health challenges to share his profound passion for the Song of Songs, revealing why this ancient text remains perhaps the most transformative book in Scripture for understanding God's heart toward us.After surviving heart failure with just 15% heart function, Brian brings renewed perspective on what truly matters - experiencing and sharing divine love. He offers a glimpse into the final stages of completing the Passion Translation, with only five books remaining before the entire Bible is finished in early 2027.The conversation shifts to explore why the Song of Songs was the favorite book of the early church fathers long before the New Testament canon was completed. Rather than viewing it as merely one of Solomon's romantic exploits, Brian unpacks how this poetic masterpiece reveals the divine romance between Christ and His bride. What makes this text exceptionally powerful is how it legitimizes our emotional connection with God. "How can we dare relate to God without our emotion?" Brian asks, challenging religious perspectives that prioritize intellect or behaviour over heart connection. The Song portrays a God who sees us as already beautiful and perfected, even while we still see our flaws - a "divine psychology" where loving affirmation becomes the catalyst for spiritual maturity. This perspective transforms how we view ourselves and others. Brian shares how God challenged him to "overestimate the value of people" - to see them not according to their current state but according to God's perspective. Through personal stories of morning communion rituals and blessing even those who have harmed him, he demonstrates how this "love theology" creates space for authentic relationship rather than religious performance.Curious about discovering your identity as the beloved of God? This conversation invites you to return to this ancient love poem with fresh eyes, allowing its divine romance to transform how you see yourself, others, and the One who pursues us until we surrender to love.https://www.thepassiontranslation.com/author/briansimmons/Support the showwww.greaterthingsinternational.com

POINT #1: “ARE THERE LIMITS TO GOD'S POWER, ABILITY, AND BLESSING?” Ephesians 3:20 (NASB1995)20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.  Ephesians 3:20 (PASSION TRANSLATION)Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. POINT #2: YOUR CAPACITY TO RECEIVE WILL LIMIT WHAT GOD CAN DO IN YOUR LIFE. 2 KINGS 4:1-7 (NASB1995)1 Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” 2 Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few. 4 And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.” 5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing the vessels to her and she poured. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not one vessel more.” And the oil stopped. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”  POINT #3: WE CAN LIMIT GOD BY OUR SMALL THINKING!!! JOHN 10:10JESUS SAID THAT HE CAME THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY!! ABUNDANTLY: GREEK = OVER AND ABOVE, MORE THAN IS NECESSARY, SUPERADDED. SUPERIOR, SURPASSING, EXTRAORDINARY!!! 2 Peter 1:3 (NAS)seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 (PASSION TRANSLATION)Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power.

Tent Talk with Nancy McCready

Nancy opens up a fresh view from the Book of Acts, reading from the Passion Translation and reflecting on its powerful greeting: “to the lovers of God.” This phrase isn't just poetic—it's a revelation. We are not lovers of God by striving, but by being born again through His Spirit. It's a sobering reminder that spiritual transformation is His work in us, not our own doing. She highlights the contrast and continuity in Acts—from the fast fire of Pentecost to the slow fire of Paul teaching from his home. The book begins with Jesus' instructions and ends with Paul's steady discipleship. This reveals a rhythm in God's movement: the spectacular and the steady both have a place in the maturing of His people. Nancy calls us to consider whether we are spectators of God's movement or surrendered participants in His ongoing acts. This is a call to live as living witnesses—glad-hearted, trustworthy sons—formed in the everyday, prepared for the hour we're living in, and united as His apostolic company on the earth today. We get into the topic of the Sovereignty of God and Bill's support and usage of the infamous Passion translation and the damaging effects and origins of it.    Hi, I'm Mackenzie. I'm a music artist, worship leader, wife, mom (I wear a lot of hats), and host of the Godly Whistleblower podcast. I seek to shine a light on popular teachings and music in the church today and share what Scripture teaches on how we are to worship in spirit and in truth within the church gathering. My desire is to learn together with my listeners how Christians are to live lives ultimately as a pleasing worship to God. Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi Adekunle

Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi AdekunleSunday, 4th MayThe Faith Framework 4After sharing the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus asked His disciples a profound question: “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). The Passion Translation frames it as: “Will He find this kind of persistent faith in His people?”Faith, as expressed in Scripture, has different dimensions. The first is believing in God—trusting that He exists, that Jesus came, died, and offers salvation. The second is believing that God will do what He has promised to do. This second kind of faith is what Jesus was talking about: persistent, enduring faith.Sadly, this dimension of faith is becoming rare. Many believers struggle to stand firm when God's promises seem delayed. Yet, Hebrews 11:6 (GWT) reminds us: “No one can please God without faith. Whoever goes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”This verse outlines two dimensions of faith. • Faith that God exists.• Faith that God rewards. Many people believe in the existence of God, but most people don't believe that God is actively involved in their lives and has great rewards for them in this present world and in heaven. The truth is that, the manifestation of God's rewards in our lives is not automatic, we must diligently pursue it with focus and dedication. It is this kind of pursuit, focus and dedication the widow applied in getting the unjust judge to grant her what she requested for. But that tenacity of faith is not in most believers again. This is the kind of faith Jesus is looking for. Faith that doesn't quit. Faith that presses on for healing, provision, protection, or breakthrough—whatever God has promised. Are you ready to stand your ground? Do you believe God is a rewarder? Are you persistent in your faith, waiting and expecting His promises to manifest?God bless you, enjoy your day.

What can a 3,000-year-old poem teach us about facing life's challenges? The 23rd Psalm—arguably the most recognized passage in the Bible—reveals extraordinary insights when we understand the journey of its author.Today we travel back to ancient Israel, where a forgotten shepherd boy would become a giant-slayer and eventually king. Written when David was 35 years old, five years into his reign, Psalm 23 reflects on his remarkable life journey. Through the fresh lens of The Passion Translation, we hear David declare, "Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have." This isn't empty religious platitude—it's the tested testimony of someone who lived through those dark valleys. What valleys are you facing today? Whatever challenges lie ahead, the ancient wisdom of this shepherd-king reminds us we're never alone. There is a trick that some realtors use when they are showing a property or doing an open house: they put a batch of cookies in the oven right before the potential buyer comes through the door. The buyer is then met with the comforting aroma of warm, gooey cookies which give them a sensation of home. Good smells draw people in and invite them to stay awhile. 2 Corinthians 2:16 in the Passion Translation says, “Through our yielded lives he spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere we go. We have become the unmistakable aroma of the victory of the Anointed One to God – a perfume of life to those being saved.” What aroma is your life giving off to the people you work with? Not sure? Here's a trick. Spend some time praying before work each day, and the aroma of Christ will fill your life.

Have you ever felt unsure about your future or about a big decision in your life? Maybe you're feeling that way right now – confused, uncertain, and discontent. Perhaps you feel paralyzed by fear of making the wrong move or wrong choice. In these seasons, when everything seems dark and foggy, how do you move forward with confidence? James 1:5 in The Passion Translation says, “If anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won't see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace.” Did you catch that? God doesn't want you to fail – He WANTS to guide you! Ask Him for wisdom and trust He will give it. Then take the pressure off yourself, leave the rest… and rest in His generous grace!

Last year one of the many blessings GOD brought into my life was the introduction to a new scripture translation. It is entitled THE PASSION TRANSLATION. I have enjoyed both reading and listening to it. For the last two weeks, I have been meditating on Luke 10:17-20. Here is how the PASSION TRANSLATION reads: 17 When the seventy missionaries returned to Jesus, they were ecstatic with joy, telling him, “Lord, even the demons obeyed us when we commanded them in your name!” 18 Jesus replied, “While you were ministering, I watched Satan topple until he fell suddenly from heaven like lightning to the ground. 19 Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority. 20 However, your real source of joy isn't merely that these spirits submit to your authority, but that your names are written in the journals of heaven and that you belong to God's kingdom. This is the true source of your authority.”   From those times of meditating on GOD's Word, I believe the LORD has given me clear direction on what our first teaching series of this new year would be. I've entitled it “WHEN GOD'S PEOPLE…”. Each week in this series, we will look at a specific way to walk in the Authority from JESUS that enables you to “trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses” that the devil seeks to unleash on you. I'm praying you'll engage in this series,  as we take this important journey together! Pastor Joe Still

Do You Have Questions Too?Romans 5:5 “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”Hope in the Lord does not disappoint has been a verse I have had to come back to over and over again. It is one that honestly I don't really understand. I mean, I know plenty of people who have hoped in the Lord that their loved ones would be healed on this side of heaven, and they weren't. They were surely disappointed. I have known people who were praying to get a certain job and they didn't. I am sure they were disappointed. What about those who really want to be married and haven't met their spouse yet, or those who want children and yet can't conceive? I am sure they are hoping in the Lord to answer those prayers, and it hasn't happened yet, I am sure they feel disappointed.I have discovered that the Holy Spirit has been asking me to go deeper when I read something I don't understand, which is a lot. I will be reading a scripture and then a question will pop into my head. At first I thought it was the enemy trying to get me to doubt my faith, or doubt what the scripture says. However, upon more prayer I have come to believe that the Holy Spirit doesn't want me to just question something and then move on without an answer. I think He is calling me to work with people who have left the faith, and left the Lord. He is calling me to work with those who have been hurt by religion and want nothing to do with it and so they also have given up on the Lord. Or, maybe they have just grown apart from Him, or never really knew they could have a relationship with Him.I think the Lord is trying to show me that if I am asking these questions, so are they. The answers that I have always been given don't do it for me anymore. The Lord is asking me to go deeper. He is asking me to truly understand who He is and why He does what He does. I mean, we will never understand most of what He does until we join Him in heaven, as our brains are so limited as to what we can actually understand and comprehend. However, I do feel He is telling me to go deeper when a question comes up, like the ones today, and ask Him to help me understand. You can do the same with your questions. You can bring them to the Lord, and He will answer them. Do you struggle to believe that? I know I do sometimes. I am hesitant to ask the Lord a direct question because I always think I won't get an answer, and then I will feel rejected. However, He always answers. Maybe not right away, and maybe not how you thought He would. I have one friend who said she always asks God questions, and she hears nothing. Then, later in the week, as someone is talking to her, she realizes that is the answer to the question she asked God. Sometimes, she will get an answer through the scriptures that are read at mass. I have another friend who said she doesn't receive a lot of answers during her prayer time, but then when she is in the shower is when her questions are answered. If you are asking the Lord questions and feel He is not answering you, I want to assure you that He definitely is. It just might be in a way you are not recognizing. Be on the lookout for it, be expecting an answer in unexpected ways, and you will find themBack to today's verse, “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” I went back to read the verse before this because this verse starts with “this hope,” so I thought, what hope?  What does “this hope” mean? The verse before today's verse says, “But that's not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressure will develop in us patient endurance. And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!” That was the passion translation, so today's verse sounds a bit different in that translation. The hope we are talking about in this verse is one that we have earned. It is one that was hard fought. It is one that was forged out of the fires of difficult situations. It is a hope that we gain after we have developed patience and character. God never told us we wouldn't have disappointments in life. He never promised us that our lives would be easy. He actually told us it would be hard. Yet He does promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. He will be there with us in our disappointing moments. Ones where we cry out to the Lord and ask why He is not answering our prayers, why He took our loved one from us, why He put these desires into our hearts and now is not bringing them to fruition.I think we have all asked the Lord at least one of these questions, and I think we were probably justified in doing so. I don't think God minds when we ask questions. I think He minds when we ask questions and then don't wait to hear the answers or go elsewhere to seek the answers. How many times have we done that? We cried out to the Lord and then tried to fix it ourselves or looked for some earthly solution to try to fix it. God wants us to go to Him and then sit with Him and listen to what He has to say. He has the most simple answers to the most complicated questions if we allow Him to answer. He can turn things around in a moment, but often, we are too busy trying to do it ourselves to let Him fix it. We tire ourselves out trying one thing after another, and I bet He is looking down at us the same way we look at any kids in our lives who are trying to do things themselves when you know if they just asked for help, you could do it so much quicker.Sometimes, kids need to do something themselves so that they learn how to do it. Other times, they need to do something themselves so they can learn a lesson. We are the same. No matter how old we get, we are never too old to learn a lesson. God will allow us to learn the same lesson as many times as it takes for us to truly learn it. He will allow us to solve our problems on our own if that is what we want. I am sure it breaks His heart to see us wearing ourselves out doing everything ourselves when He knows if we just partnered with Him, it would be so much easier. Yet, He loves and respects us enough to let us decide when we invite Him in and when we want to partner with Him. The best news, it is never too late. You might be 20 years old, and you might be 80 years old. It is never too late to invite the Lord in and watch your life changee.I don't think I answered the questions from earlier or talked about the verse too much; I guess the Holy Spirit had a different idea this morning. However, I do want to look at the verse a bit more because I think that will help answer the questions. “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” The verse says that hope will not lead to disappointment because we know how much God loves us because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. The message translations said, “And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!”Did you know the Holy Spirit lives inside of you? If you have been listening to this podcast for a while, you probably know that, as I say it often. However, if you didn't know this, it is true! Maybe you did know that already, and yet you don't really know what that means. It means that the spirit of Christ lives inside of you. It means that all of that power that Jesus had when He lived on earth, the power He used to do all His miracles, that lives inside of you. It means the Holy Spirit, the one that raised Jesus from the dead, lives inside of you! Did you know you had so much power living inside of you? Guess what else you have? According to the Passion Translation, you have the endless love of God cascading into your hearts through the Holy Spirit that lives in you! The other translation says that the Lord has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.We have power and love filling our hearts because of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of us. Isn't God remarkable? This is why hope in the Lord does not disappoint. It is because He is constantly filling our hearts with love. This verse does not mean that we will never be disappointed, we will, probably often. However, it means that if we hope in the Lord, He will come through for us. Maybe not in the way we wanted Him to, but whatever we are going through, He will use it for our good. I have heard this in many songs, and it has brought me comfort. I hope it will bring you comfort too. If you are struggling, if you are in a dark place right now, if all seems lost, then know God is not done with you yet. He allows us to go through trials, but He never leaves us there, and He never leaves our side while we are in them. If your life is not as you want it to be, if it is not as you had hoped it would be, then God is not done yet. Keep turning to Him, keep inviting Him in, and then watch as He transforms your life. Expect it; be on the lookout for amazing things, and you will find them!Dear Heavenly Father, wow, I wasn't expecting all that today. Please bless all those listening to this episode. Please help us to really hear what you said today and to allow it to take root in our lives and bear fruit. Help us to better understand what it means to have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Our Heavenly BankLuke 12:33-34 “Now, go and sell what you have and give to those in need; you will be making deposits in your account in heaven, an account that will never be taken from you. Your gifts will become a secure and unfailing treasure, deposited in heaven forever. Where you deposit your treasure, that is where you fix your thoughts—and your heart will long to be there also.”Yesterday after school, I went to the church near me as it is always open. I wanted to sit there with the Lord and ask Him what he wanted me to teach about in mentoring tonight. I took out my Bible and asked Him to give me a scripture verse. I don't do this too often, but I asked for a verse. I told the Lord I was going to just open the Bible, and I asked Him to show me a verse on the page I just happened to open up to that would either be relevant for mentoring or for life in general.I picked a random part of the Bible to open up to, and it happened to be Luke 12. What is amazing to me is that there is a whole section on the page I opened up to that is called in my Passion Translation, “Don't Worry.” the theme for mentoring this month is “Be Not Afraid.” I love it when the Lord does that. He just has you open up the Bible to the perfect page. What was interesting to me is that I have heard and read that section several times before, and yet today, a few things stood out to me that I don't remember ever hearing or reading before. One of those things is the verse above.I have heard before that Jesus wants us to sell what we have and give to those in need. He tells this to the young man who asks what he needs to do to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. However, I have never heard of it as making deposits into our account in heaven. I love that imagery. It reminded me of when I was reading a book one time. I think it might have been The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, but I am not sure. Whatever book it was, it talked about how we need to make emotional deposits into our loved ones. The idea of "making regular deposits into our loved ones' emotional banks" means consistently building a positive relationship with your loved one through kind gestures, praise, and supportive actions so that when you need to say something negative or critical, they are more likely to trust your intentions and not feel overly hurt because of the strong foundation of positive interactions you've already established; essentially, it's like having a "reserve" of positive experiences that can buffer against occasional negative feedback. This is what I thought of when it comes to our heavenly bank. We can store our treasures up there as they won't do us any good down here. We can't take our treasures with us. We can't take our material possessions with us. It makes sense that we could sell those things to make a deposit into our heavenly bank. To be honest, after having this thought, I started to wonder if it was the same as with our kids. We make regular deposits into our heavenly bank so that when we do something bad, we are still ok because we have all the other deposits to cover this thing we just did. However, I don't think this is what the Lord is talking about. If this was the case, then it would be as if we were earning our way into heaven. It would be as if we needed to do more good than bad, and there was a scale in heaven that was making sure we put in more good than the withdrawal due to the bad behavior.I know this is not the case because we don't have to earn our way into heaven. Jesus died on the cross for us so that we may be saved. Our getting into heaven isn't based on how many good things we do on Earth vs. how many bad things we do on Earth. After realizing this, I wondered why the Lord highlighted this section for me and why he brought that story up about depositing into our loved ones' banks. First, I think he reminded me of that story because I think we all needed that reminder that it is important to continually be investing and depositing into our loved ones banks. Second, I think God highlighted this section for me because of the last line. The last line of the verse above says, “Where you deposit your treasure, that is where you fix your thoughts—and your heart will long to be there also.” I think God wanted us to take some time today and think about where we are depositing our treasures. Where we deposit our treasure is where you fix your thoughts. So, where are your thoughts fixed? Are they fixed on the Lord, or are they fixed on the world? Are they fixed on all God has done for you, or are they fixed on all the things going wrong in your life? What about our time? Time is the most valuable resource we have. Where are we spending our time? Are we making regular deposits of our time with the Lord, or are we spending our time elsewhere? For me, I feel as though I am not spending as much time as I would like to with God. I am allowing myself to be distracted by TV and other things. The verse above says, “Where you deposit your treasure, that is where you fix your thoughts—and your heart will long to be there also.” So, if we are depositing our time elsewhere, then that is where our thoughts will be and, subsequently, where our hearts will long to be. Where does your heart long to be? I believe my heart longs to be in heaven with God, and yet that is not what my actions would do. That is not where I seem to be making most of my deposits of time. Maybe today, we could all look at our time and examine where we are spending the majority of it. We can look to see where our thoughts are and where our hearts are. Is there anything we need to change to be more in alignment with this verse and with the will of the Lord?Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening. Lord, help us to focus our eyes, hearts, and minds on you. Help us to put our treasures into the heavenly bank where they will be safe. Help us to make regular deposits of our time into that same bank. We love you, Lord, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus's holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 2nd of September, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, the Book of Proverbs 3:15:”She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.”Then we go to Mathew 13:45-46:”Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” That pearl of great price! Oh, my dear friend, it is our salvation. It's when we find the Lord Jesus Christ, isn't it? That is exactly what it is like. So often, we forget what God has so freely given to you and me: eternal life, freedom, and a new opportunity to serve Him. We don't even know sometimes what we are holding in our hands, do we? The Passion Translation says: “When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all that he had in exchange for it.” The Message Translation says: “Finding one that is flawless, he immediately sells everything and buys it.” On the 26th of January 1905, in South Africa, the largest rough diamond ever found on earth was found in the Cullinan Mine. It weighed 621.2 grams. It is worth 19,000,000 British pounds. It was named after the mine owner, Thomas Cullinan. Incredible! But I want to tell you, I found my diamond on 18th February 1979, at about 10 o'clock in the morning - an absolute pearl of great price. Yes, I met Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and you know, since that day, everything else in this world has paled into insignificance in comparison. What about you? Would you like to find that diamond of great price? Maybe you did and you lost it. I want to pray a prayer with you today, that you would again commit your life to Jesus. Please pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I have been searching all my life for peace, joy and purposeful living. Today, by faith, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I thank you for dying for a sinner like me and today, You will become the most important person in my life.In Jesus' name, Amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

God supplies for ALL of our needs, not just simply food for our bodies, but for every area of our lives. What is God showing you about this “daily bread?”Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God's mouth.”- Matthew 4:4 MSGI am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”- John 6:48-51 NASB 1995And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”- Luke 22:19 NASB 1995We read the opening prayer from the New King James Version, Matthew 4:4 from the New American Standard Bible 1995 and The Passion Translation, in addition to John 6:32-35 TPT.Your spirit needs sustenance from the word of God, just as your body needs sustenance from food. James 1:5 in The Passion Translation says, “If anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won't see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace.” Did you catch that?
