Full Transcript Below: Why Life Is Sacred By Lynette Kittle Bible Reading: “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” - Deuteronomy 30:19 Why are so many people choosing death over life these days? If asked, many individuals might disagree, not realizing what they are doing. Still, when we consider our culture’s views on the sacredness of life, we see the reality that individuals are choosing abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, suicide, and more. Because death is a popular choice for so many people, it’s more important than ever for us to speak out and help lead others to choose life over death. As Christians, we recognize that those who reject Jesus are choosing death, rather than receiving the life God gives us. A Day Set to Choose Life Every January since January 22, 1984, many Christians observe Sanctity of Life Day, a day set aside to commemorate God’s priceless and sacred gift of life. The United States' 40th President, Ronald Reagan, first issued the national proclamation setting aside a day to honor life and remember the millions of lives ended through abortion. It’s a day to remember those who can’t speak for themselves, committing to pray for and protect their life at every age and stage. Proverbs 31:8 urges us to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Like Deuteronomy 30:19 urges, we, who are believers in Jesus Christ, are daily called to choose life over death, to believe that life is sacred. So, how do we put this into action daily? By choosing life through the words we speak, write, and communicate about it to ourselves, friends, family, community, and the world at large. Speaking Influential Words As Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Whether we realize it or not, the words we choose to speak and write influence those who hear and read our words. Because they do, it’s vitally important, a matter of life and death, that we celebrate and support life for those around us. Choosing God’s Truth God describes the very beginning of humankind, of their sacredness of being made in His image, as Genesis 1:27 describes, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” Christians who replace biblical truth with other ideologies are choosing creator-less options, calling God a liar, along with removing the need for a Savior and devaluing life. But as believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to embrace and cherish the sacredness of life, of the truth of being formed in the image of our amazing Creator, who breathed His breath of life into us. There should be no doubt in our hearts and minds about who created us, the One who formed us with His own hands and has called us priceless in His sight. As Genesis 2:7 explains, God is very clear about where humans began and by whose hand. “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Sanctity of Life Remains Nothing changes God’s truth about life and the sacredness of it, despite the world’s efforts to promote abortion, assisted suicide, and selecting and euthanizing those who have physical and mental issues and disabilities, various illnesses, and the elderly. God’s plan for each individual is life, as Psalm 139:16 describes: “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.” Men and women, from the womb to the grave, are God’s glorious, sacred creations. As Psalm 8:4-6 describes, “What is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of Your hands; You put everything under their feet.” Intersecting Faith & Life: How are we speaking about life? Are we sharing with others the sacredness of it? The Ninth Commandment calls us to not only speak and live out truth, but to know THE TRUTH God has revealed, Jesus Christ.
If you've ever felt pressure to be the “perfect Christian mom,” today's episode will breathe relief into your soul. We're breaking down the unrealistic expectations working Christian moms carry — the pressure to be calm, organized, patient, soft-spoken, always put together, and never overwhelmed — and replacing them with the truth of what God actually says about motherhood, identity, and faithfulness. In this episode, we look at the real biblical picture of womanhood — not perfection, but valor, strength, resilience, and dependence on God. You'll learn how the Hebrew word ezer reveals God's true design for women, and why the moms in Scripture looked a whole lot more like you: stretched, brave, imperfect, and deeply loved. Whether you're navigating work, motherhood, overwhelm, or spiritual exhaustion, this conversation will help you release pressure, realign your heart, and step into the motherhood God has actually called you to — one marked by courage, not perfection. ✨ Join the Faithfully Balanced Course If you're ready to create rhythms that help you stay present, peaceful, and aligned with God in your busy season of work and motherhood, the Faithfully Balanced course gives you practical, grace-filled tools to: Establish priorities Release pressure Build boundaries Reset your heart around God's design Find details in the show notes below.

Leddy Hammock Inspired by lyrics to "God Is" by Rich Fagan based on the "Prayer for Protection" by James Dillet Freeman: "In the morning when I rise and before I close my eyes, Anytime I'm in despair, I just speak this little prayer – God's light surrounds me. When the cold winds start to blow and they beat upon your door, Every night will have its dawn, hold this thought as you hold on – God's love enfolds you. We all hear the Spirit call. It's a small world after all. Bound together in and through this one common, simple Truth: God's power protects us. Hey Mama, Anxiety and stress in children is skyrocketing in our society today. With the overstimulation of modern technology and access to more information than we need, it can be hard to process through our emotions and feelings. Unfortunately, society today celebrates the suppression and numbing of our feelings and emotions through non-stop dopamine hits of social media scrolling, nightly wine celebrations for surviving our children for the day, and pushing medications that can make us feel numb. But what if, instead of numbing our feelings, we preach to them? What if we acknowledge the feelings and then we put them to the test against the TRUTH- God's truth- to engage in the battle of God's truth versus lies we are agreeing with. Join me today as I share with you 3 simple ways to help teach your children how to seek God when they are stressed. Let's get honest—every one of us has believed lies about ourselves. “I'm not good enough.” “I'll never change.” “God is disappointed in me.” These thoughts don't come from Heaven. They're planted by an enemy who knows that if you ever truly believed who you are in Christ, he wouldn't stand a chance. So today, we reject those lies—loudly. Our springboard for today's discussion is:“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind...” — Romans 12:2 (ESV)This world is full of voices competing to define you. The media tells you what you should look like. Social platforms tell you how successful you should be. The past tells you what you'll never become. But God? God speaks truth over your life—and the only way to hear Him clearly is to renew your mind. That means identifying every lie and refusing to agree with it.Here are some common lies we need to evict:* Lie: “I'm too broken.”Truth: You are made whole in Christ.* Lie: “I've failed too many times.”Truth: His mercies are new every morning.* Lie: “God can't use someone like me.”Truth: God chooses the weak to shame the strong.Lies gain power when we agree with them. Truth breaks chains when we declare it.So how do we reject lies? We replace them. Not with motivational quotes—but with Scripture. God's Word is our ultimate filter. If it doesn't align with what He says, it gets thrown out—no exceptions.Question of the Day:What lie have you believed about yourself—and what truth from God's Word will you use to replace it?Mini Call to Action:Write down one lie you've believed. Cross it out. Then write a verse from Scripture that speaks the truth. Say that truth out loud today.Let's Pray:Jesus, I repent for agreeing with lies about who I am. Help me renew my mind with Your truth. Show me what You see when You look at me—and give me the courage to believe it. In Your name, amen.Let's Get To Work!Your identity is too sacred to let the enemy narrate it. Speak truth. Live free.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Our position as God's children is established in Jesus by trusting what He has said is true. His power of love frees us from spiritual darkness and opens our eyes to the reality of belonging to God, of being His children and of entering His kingdom now. It is the same power by which He raised Jesus from the dead. That power has raised us up also. Our story begins with God. He has always been. There has never been a time when He didn't exist. Everything was made by Him and finds its purpose in Him, especially us. Before we were born, God has designs for us, a destiny that displays His kindness and grace, the power of life in love. Daily Dose of Hope May 20, 2025 Day 2 of Week 8 Scripture – Matthew 2 Prayer: Dear God, You are amazing! How awesome it is that you who created all things are also so intimately involved in our lives. We give you glory and praise for who you are. We are so thankful for your love. We want to know you more. We want and need to hear your voice. Help us set aside our scattered thoughts and focus on you. In these next few moments of silence, Lord, hear our prayers... In Your Name, Amen. Welcome back, friends, to the Daily Dose of Hope, a devotional and podcast connected to the Bible reading plan at New Hope Church in Brandon, FL. Today, we are digging into Matthew 2. This is pretty familiar Scripture to many of us. Let's try to see it with fresh eyes. The text begins with foreign Magi visiting King Herod. These men are an interesting and mysterious group. We don't really know much about the magi who come seeking Jesus from eastern lands. Some translations call them wise men or kings. Matthew doesn't include a lot of details. We have no idea how many there actually were (despite the popular carol, Scripture does not say there were just three of them). Like the shepherds, the magi seem an unlikely group to seek out and worship Jesus. They were pagans, gentiles, involved in the occult, and yet they knew there was something more. They were searching for something more. So these magi embark on a long journey, carrying expensive gifts worthy of a king, eager to pay homage. Their efforts lead them to an encounter far beyond their expectations. Unlike an earthly king who would have been found in a palace, the magi are led to what we can probably assume is a modest home of a Jewish family and it's there that they find Jesus with his mother and Scripture says they bow down and worship him. Maybe it wasn't what they expected but they see God's hand in it nonetheless and worship the one they know to be the Messiah, the savior of the world. They were outsiders but they recognized the Messiah when so many insiders failed to do so. Up until now, it all sounds great, right? But there is another character in this story. His name is Herod the Great. The Herod family ruled over the holy land both before and after the time of Christ, they were somewhat like puppet kings, put in place by the Romans to keep order. And they don't have a great reputation at all. They were, for the most part, insecure and power-hungry. One reason I don't think it's accurate to refer to the magi as wise men is because they did one thing that was really unwise. They go straight to King Herod, “So where is the NEW king? Where is the one who has been named king of the Jews?” Keep in mind, Herod the Great considered himself to be king of the Jews. The man is insecure and vicious so he tries to trick the magi into divulging Jesus' location. But no amount of earthly power can get Herod what he wants. The magi are warned in a dream to not return to Herod. And this angers him more. Herod was both feared and hated. The Jewish historian Josephus painted a picture of Herod as a suspicious and cruel client king, with a history of killing anyone whom he saw as a threat, including three sons and his wife. So even though the magi remind Herod of Micah's prophecy that the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), his response was not to pay homage but to destroy the newborn king. In Matthew 2:16, we read that Herod decides to take matters into his own hands and kill all the baby boys who might be in the age range of Jesus, When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Truly dark and horrific. The extent to which human beings will go to gain power surely demonstrates the brokenness of our world. Then and now. But through all of this, Jesus is saved. The baby's family is warned in a dream and they head down to Egypt for a period of time to keep the boy safe from Herod before they come back to Israel and settle in Nazareth. Because God's purposes will prevail. God had promised long, long ago to send a Savior for his people and there is nothing that could get in the way. Listen to this prophecy from in Isaiah 9:6-7, spoken 700 years before the birth of Jesus, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. It's like God was saying “I'm going to send someone who will restore the people of Israel to me. This person will be a light to the Gentiles, and will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth AND it will be obvious once more that your God reigns.” No power-hungry king could mess that up as hard as he tried. No earthly power could thwart God's plan of redemption for his people. It's true that bad things to happen. God allows human beings free will and that is too often used for evil. But that doesn't mean God isn't involved, it doesn't mean he isn't invested, God can and has orchestrated, changed, and/or stopped the plans of all kinds of people to get done what needs to get done. God has been working, in his time, over the course of thousands of years, to achieve his bigger purpose. And what was the bigger purpose? God's mission from the beginning was to redeem his world. He did this through Jesus. That little baby that the wise men knelt down and worshiped, that child that Herod felt so threatened by --- that child would grow to become the Savior of the world. He would bring sight to the blind, freedom for the oppressed, he would proclaim good news to the poor. He would preach the Kingdom of God and show the world a different way of living, ultimately giving up his own life voluntarily on a Roman cross. In doing so, he became the final sacrifice for sin, providing a way for you and me and all people to be redeemed. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, our sins can be forgiven and we can walk hand in hand with a holy God. Because of Jesus, nothing separates us from God. And then, three days after he died, he was resurrected, defeating evil and death and demonstrating to the world who HE is. He is, after all, God. Jesus is the Lord. Jesus is LORD of all. Paul writes this in Colossians 1:15-20, The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Jesus is above all things. Jesus is Lord. And over the course of 2000 years, rulers and kings and dictators and autocrats have tried to wipe out his influence. They have misused his teachings, they have twisted the Gospel. Like Herod, they have done all kinds of things to either try to eliminate the influence of Jesus or to use the Gospel for their own deceitful purposes. And at times, it's been ugly and violent and really sad. But this is TRUTH: God will ensure that his purposes prevail. Yes, in our sinful and broken world, all kinds of horrors will occur. Vladimir Putin will think he's invincible. Kim Jong Un will declare himself supreme ruler. American politicians will think themselves unshakable. You and I will experience heartbreak, loss, and illness. And yet, Jesus is still Lord of all. God is still working in our lives, God is still present with us in the middle of the mess, and Jesus is still in the business of transforming lives. Friends, Jesus is on the throne, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The rulers of the world may oppose him but they are ultimately answerable to him. Because he will come again. I'll stop there for now. But I do have to ask this question: Is Jesus Lord of your life? More tomorrow. Blessings, Pastor Vicki

In the biblical story of humanity's beginning, there's a curious and often overlooked detail. When God speaks to Adam in the garden, He doesn't begin by issuing a command. Instead, He gives a warning: “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17). At first glance, this seems like a straightforward prohibition. But in Jewish tradition, the interpretation leans another way: God isn't laying down the law. He's offering a word of caution. Deacon Harold talks more about God's invitation to freedom. Also looking into Soulful Psalm 135:7-12

THE TRUTH ABOUT TITHING: TIPS OR TITHE GENESIS 4:1-7 Why did God reject Cain's offering and accept Abel's? It was a matter of the heart! Cain tipped God; Abel obeyed God. Do we have the heart of Cain or Abel? When it comes to our finances, who are we going to thank and who are we going to trust? What we do with our finances reveals the condition of our heart. Truth: God doesn't need our money; He wants our heart! Tithing is not about getting something out of us, it is about doing something for us! The account of Cain and Abel teaches us: 1. Tithing reveals the condition of the heart. An unholy hold on money divides every aspect of our lives. Blessed money unifies. 2. Tithing determines how much God can trust me. 3. Tithing determines how long my giving lives. Hebrews 11:4 My faith in God speaks longer than I live on earth. Everything we work to accumulate (possessions) dies with us. Is it really worth it to follow God when the wicked seem to win? In this powerful and hope-filled conclusion to the book of Malachi, we see that God is not blind to injustice nor forgetful of faithfulness. He promises that the Day of the Lord is coming—a day when the arrogant will face judgment, and the faithful will leap like calves set free. The same God who calls His people to remember and return also provides the mercy we so desperately need in Jesus Christ. This sermon unpacks the final words of the Old Testament, showing us how the story points forward to Christ, the true Sun of Righteousness, who brings healing in His wings.
Deacon Harold asks the question of where have you seen the presence of God in your life or do you find it hard to see Him working? We also look into Soulful Psalm 78:44-48
THE TRUTH ABOUT TITHING I KINGS 17:10-22 She Was Afraid! 1 Kings 17:13-16 When we obey God, there is ALWAYS enough! She Was Tested! 1 Kings 17:15-16 Who are we going to thank and who are we going to trust? More money is not the answer-More faith in God is! Faith activates God and moves His hand in our behalf. Tithing is NOT giving; Tithing is RETURNING! Truth: Generosity begins at 11%! Some argue that tithing is an Old Testament law, remember this: Jesus NEVER lowered the bar; He raised the bar. Matthew 5:17-30 Jesus taught tithing. Luke 11:42 She Received The Supply! 1 Kings 17:15-16 There was no natural solution to this problem. Truth: God doesn't need the natural to do the supernatural! If He can get it thru you, He will get it to you! She Experienced The Promise! 1 Kings 17:21-22 Her son dies-obeying God doesn't mean your business will never go under, you will never get cancer, you will never lose a child, you will never go through a divorce. The promise means when the ‘son' dies, Jesus is right there with us! While living with my parents, sometime in early teens, we attended one of the oldest churches in the south. We'd dress in our Sunday finest, traverse the winding country roads, and find “our pew.” After a few stares from my parents, a pinch or two under the thigh, and some monotone words from the pulpit, we were free. The church would empty and we'd head to the car, ready to ditch the Sunday best and get on with life. Every Sunday, no matter what…my dad would strike up a conversation while the three of us sat in the car…waiting! We would glare, roll the window down and motion, one time a horn was used in efforts to get things moving. Waiting was for the birds! We always asked, what is the hold up!?!? This weekend, we explore the same question about God's seeming delay in His return! If you're keen, read ahead in 2 Peter 3. Pastor Matthew McCarter

1 THESSALONIANS 5:16 PSALM 48:12 PSALM 22:3 What is the difference between thankfulness and gratitude? Thankfulness is a response to a ________________________________. Gratitude is a _________________________, a state of grace. Most of us have a story or stories of God's faithfulness that brought gratitude. Truth: God is attracted to grateful people. What do we know about gratitude? 1. Gratitude is never invisible or silent. Luke 6:45 When we are grateful, we will say it and show it. 2. Gratitude sustains joy and blessing. Psalm 9:1 The secret to joy is learning to remember all that God has done for you, especially in the bad times. 3. Gratitude begins when entitlement ends. 1 Corinthians 15:5 It is impossible to be grateful for something we think we are entitled to. Without God, what are we entitled to? God's mercy keeps us until God's grace finds us! 4. Grateful people can find a blessing or enlarge a blessing. Psalm 126:5-6 You have everything you need to do everything God has asked you to do. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. +++++++ You can find our service times on our website: https://www.anctally.com/ You can find sermon highlights on Twitter here: https://x.com/allnationstally
