If you don't live day-to-day in the world of finance or philanthropy, you might not have heard of the Great Generational Wealth Transfer. It's the notion that in the next 20 or so years, as much as $90 trillion will transfer from the current generation that holds these assets to the next generation. MinistryWatch provides a database of the largest ministries in the nation, with lots of free data at your disposal. As a friend of mine often says (with a touch of irony), “We live in the future now. We can have nice things.” We may not live in the future, but we do live in a world where being uninformed is not an excuse. Dig in, ask tough questions, and give wisely. You can find recent examples of our “Generous Living” series here and here. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. Until next time, may God bless you.
This special message for Giving Sunday explores what it truly means to be rich towards God. Drawing from Luke 12:13-21, we reflect on Jesus' challenge to avoid placing our security in wealth and instead live generously as an act of worship.Key Themes in This Sermon:• The heart behind generosity in the Kingdom of God• Why financial giving is about trust, not obligation• How a life surrendered to Christ transforms our perspective on money• The joy of aligning our resources with God's missionThis sermon is not just about one special offering—it's a challenge to reorient our hearts to trust Jesus as our provider, rather than seeking security in possessions. If you would like to give financially, you can find out how here: https://www.thecitychurch.org.uk/how-to-give
On today's program, the lawsuit against Kanakuk Kamps brought by Logan Yandell has been dismissed. Yandell was a former camper who was sexually abused at the camp by leader Pete Newman. We'll take a look. Also, in the next episode of our Generous Living series, a story about how $4 an hour changed the life trajectory of a young mom. And, Pastors and Planes—after tracking planes owned by more than 40 ministries, who was the biggest user of private aircraft…and how much did it cost donors? But first, an Ohio pastor has been found guilty of criminal charges for providing temporary shelter to homeless people in his community. Dad's Place, a church in Bryan, Ohio, has been battling with the city since last winter to provide shelter to homeless persons in the area. Now, the pastor, Chris Avell, has been found guilty in municipal court of a criminal charge related to a fire code violation, fined $200, and given a 60-day suspended sentence. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. We get database and other technical support from Stephen DuBarry, Rod Pitzer, and Casey Sudduth. Writers who contributed to today's program include Kim Roberts, Elizabeth Coffee, Nathan Mayo, Tony Mator, Brittany Smith, Christina Darnell—and you, Warren. A special thanks to Echoes Magazine for contributing material for this week's podcast. Until next time, may God bless you.

While Jesus is teaching His disciples in Luke 6, He gives them a one-word financial challenge (that proceeds from faith of course): GIVE (didomi). That's it. Simply give. Live generously as possessors of His kingdom (v20). And when His children live generously with all that He has entrusted to them, Jesus promises great blessing in return. He says, “Give and it will be given to you.” How much? “Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.” Why? “For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you [by God].” What would this next step with Jesus look like for you/your family? How about for St. Peter? Where have you already seen His Great Measure poured back into your lap?

Happy Thanksgiving! We all have so much for which to be thankful. The third key in Generous Living is to “give thanks in all circumstances.” This doesn't say “for” all circumstances because we live in a broken world because of sin, but it does say “in” all circumstances because our God is greater. We have a Savior who died for us on a cross so that we could have eternal life with God. We are loved and forever adopted into His family by the grace of Christ. Let's truly be thankful this Thanksgiving and let's be generous. God so loved that He gave, and so can we.

Prayer is a continuous, transformative conversation with God that reflects trust and devotion. It encompasses key elements such as being present, speaking, openness, listening, and spiritual growth. Unlike ordinary conversations, prayer involves a dialogue with someone who understands and loves us deeply. A life of prayer leads to holiness. It brings confidence rooted in faith and cultivates generosity by sharpening our awareness of God and compassion for others.

God wants us to experience Generous Living. The most famous verse in the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave…” John 3:16. Therefore, we are most like God when we love and when we give. The first key to Generous Living is to rejoice always. This is a true mark of spiritual depth and maturity. Jesus was full of joy and there will be rejoicing in Heaven. When we are grateful, we rejoice. Let's learn to rejoice always as we grow to be like Jesus.

We are challenged throughout the Scriptures to be generous. We are encouraged to live from a heart that is not afraid of loss but is willing to love with an extravagance that cannot be quenched. Only in that way, will we experience the extravagant love that God has already given to us. Let us not be timid but bold in giving to others. The ONE Thing | Generous Living by Fondren Church
My dear friend Richard will any day now be graduating to glory, which is why I've brought this forward. It was only recorded a fortnight ago but things have progressed fast, and I'd love him to have the pleasure perhaps of listening to this and knowing it has blessed and challenged us before he breathes his last this side of the veil. His body is ravaged and weakened by years of battling cancer, but his spirit is strong, and his ebbing life is a radical challenge to all of us of what being generous might look like. It's a powerful message. If what you listen to moves you to action, please write to Richard to tell him what you've done about it, richard[@]gsbcomms.co.uk, and I'd love you to cc me in as well for the encouragement if appropriate, simon[@]greatlakesoutreach.org My first podcast with him a couple of years ago tells his life journey, and is well worth the listen: inspired.captivate.fm/episode/acting-up-richard-garnettHis (under 5min poetic) pods (called Jesus Here) are beautiful, and can be accessed on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. He references Robert Glover's amazing work in China, getting over a million orphans integrated into families. This morning, as we continued our series on Generous Living, Pastor Jim spoke on the heart of giving and why we do it. God ultimately doesn't need anything from you. He wants something for you. This morning, Pastor Steve kicked off a new series, Generous Living. This series challenges us by creating a goal to take one step in the direction of living with a more generous heart. We must remember that it's ultimately all His, He owns and controls everything. We will only be able to experience the joy of generous living that God has for us when we believe that it is all His. There are many principles throughout God's Word regarding making financial decisions. But in this lesson, we will focus primarily on scriptural principles regarding giving to God's work.

It is an unfortunate reality that the prosperity gospel is prospering. Many people in the pews fall in love with the message that tells them the more you give, the more you get. Prosperity preachers continue to take passages of Scripture out of context to tickle the ears of their listeners into thinking that they can be healthy and wealthy when they financially sow seeds of faith to their ministries. We've looked long and hard throughout the Bible, and we just can't seem to find any evidence of this teaching. Join host Andrew Marcus with his pastor and dear friend Brent Smith as they talk through some of the false teaching that is out there and how to avoid it by giving us a strong foundation on what biblical generosity looks like in the life of a true believer.

Big, scary, spiders. This is when you know you've hit rock-bottom: when you have no other place than to live in a basement full of them! For entrepreneurs, how they respond to that situation (and that location) is often the most important piece of their business journey. And no one knows the peaks and valleys of the entrepreneurial journey quite like our latest guest. Steven Pemberton is an entrepreneur who's generated over $3 million in revenue on e-commerce platforms. He now helps coaches and business leaders get in front of their ideal customers to accelerate their impact through a system called “Challenges.” Listen to the full episode for more on Steven's backstory (from losing all his money and living in a basement, to building a 7-figure business), some of the top characteristics the most successful entrepreneurs have in common, the dangers of pride, and more. Here's a Glimpse of What You'll Learn: More about Steven's approach to helping entrepreneurs grow their impact and increase their sales Why you don't have to have a ton of money in order to get started on your entrepreneurial journey An idea of the conversion percentages that Steven's clients have experienced by using his “offer drop” tactic More on Steven's backstory, including he and his wife losing everything and how that first taste of “failure” held him back from getting back into business later How Steven's wife went from no experience to making $1 million in revenue — and why she convinced Steven to once again go into business Why gross revenue doesn't tell the full story of a business Why Steven says success in business can come down to the intersection of skillsets, opportunity, and perseverance Why pride can get in the way of business success, and why transparency is so important when it comes to gross and net revenues The difference between providing value and ideas, and why authenticity is so important How Steven measures success in his business and in his personal life Some of the habits that Steven has integrated into his daily life to be at his best Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Hollwco.com Steven Pemberton on LinkedIn Steven Pemberton on Facebook Steven Pemberton on Instagram “The Blessed Life: Unlocking the Rewards of Generous Living” by Robert Morris “No Pain, No Gaines: The Good Stuff Doesn't Come Easy” by Chip Gaines “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” by James Clear 40 Strategy Contact 40 Strategy Carl J.
