We should seek forgiveness personally and as a community, and pray that we might be kept from falling into sin. How should we pray? Shamelessly. Continually. “But the Lord said to her, ‘My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.’” (Luke 10:41–42 NLT) If your aim is to experience genuine revival in your spiritual life, in addition to being an ambassador for Christ and a neighbor like Christ, you must also be a worshiper of Christ. That’s the third ministry role found in Luke 10. Some believers make the mistake of allowing their work for God to overshadow their worship of God. They convince themselves that what they say or do is indispensable to God’s kingdom. That their ministry is vital to the success of the Christian faith. That God needs them. Newsflash: God doesn’t need us. Another newsflash: Everything that believers do must emanate from our worship of God. Worship is the source of our power and effectiveness, so it must be our top priority. If it isn’t, we will not burn bright for Christ. We won’t feel a sense of revival. Instead, we’ll find ourselves burning out. We can’t give out what we don’t possess. We can’t take people any further than we’ve gone ourselves. We see this principle played out in the story of Jesus’ visit to the house of his friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in Luke 10. Storm clouds were looming large in the life of the Lord. In fact, He was on His way to Jerusalem to be crucified. Before that happened, He wanted to talk about the coming changes with His friends. This was an important evening. Martha’s instinct was to prepare a good meal for Jesus—to stay busy doing things for Him. Mary, on the other hand, “sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught” (Luke 10:39 NLT). Martha saw obligation; Mary saw opportunity. The Creator of the universe, in human form, was sitting in her house, revealing life-changing spiritual truths. As far as Mary was concerned, washing dishes and setting the table could wait. Her priority was to spend as much time as possible in Jesus’ presence. Martha grew annoyed with Mary for not joining her in her busy work. She took her complaint to Jesus. “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me” (verse 40 NLT). Jesus helped her see where her priorities were out of order. “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her” (verses 41–42 NLT). There’s a time for work and a time for worship. Martha’s mistake was offering activity instead of adoration, perspiration instead of inspiration, and work instead of worship. She didn’t realize that Jesus preferred her company over her service in that situation. He wanted her fellowship and companionship more than He wanted a meal. There are countless ways to serve Jesus, but our worship must come first. That’s where our spiritual power and energy come from. That’s where revival begins. Shalom Truth-Seekers in Yeshua Messiah. This is the first installment in a series of detailed teaching on the Hebrew concept of “covenant” (or “Berit”) and its foundational role in the faith and salvation of God's (i.e. Yehovah's) chosen ones. In this installment we introduce the Hebrew concept of covenant by exploring the term's meaning. We also emphasize its significance as a sacred, legally binding relationship between Yehovah (God) and His chosen people, Yisra'el/Yasharal, with its physical and spiritual implications for all humanity. The teaching critiques denominational misunderstandings and highlights covenant's Torah roots and its wider scriptural (i.e. both Tanach and Brit HaDashah) importance. Introduction to the Covenant Series We begin by recalling a previous post on Genesis 12:3. The title of that post is: Does "I Will Bless Those Who Bless and Curse Those Who Curse," Apply to the Modern Nation of Israel? (If you've not had the opportunity to listen to or read that post, we humbly invite you to do so by clicking this link https://www.themessianictorahobserver.org/2025/06/28/does-i-will-bless-those-who-bless-and-curse-those-who-curse-apply-to-the-modern-nation-of-israel/) In that post we clarified that the verse is not a command to bless the modern nation-state of Israel. But rather the verse is a prescriptive covenant provision. This provision states that those who treat God's chosen people, according to Torah principles, receive Yah's favor, while those who mistreat them face divine harm. And thus, covenant is central to God's relationship with His covenant people, Israel/Yisra'el/Yasharal. And it was that post that has prompted this covenant teaching series. In this series, we will explore the refined and broader principles of covenant that link it to God's/Yah's Grand Plan of Salvation, Restoration, and Redemption through the Person and Ministries of Yeshua HaMashiyach. Also in this post, we stress that denominational Christianity often fails to grasp the true Hebrew concept of covenant's significance because of their overall rejection of Torah and Hebraic principles. Because of denominationalism's wholesale rejection of Torah and Hebraic principles, they fail to recognize that the covenant is the sole pathway to a true relationship with God/Yehovah. That God-human relationship was established originally with Abraham and came to its fullest realization in the Person and Ministries of Yeshua Messiah. We will see that faithfulness to Torah and covenant obedience are essential for salvation and entry into the Kingdom of Heaven (Mat 7.22-23). Understanding the Hebrew Concept of Covenant Covenant, or "Berit" (in Hebrew), is a set apart, legally binding relational agreement between God/Yehovah and His chosen people. (Later on in this series we will see that Yah's chosen people are not limited to just the biological descendants of Avraham, Yitschaq, and Ya'achov.) But covenant frames the established relationship between God and His chosen ones with rules/behavioral expectations, obligations, and promises. Secularists may view a covenant much like a contract. But we will see as we delve deeper into the covenant Yah established/cut with His chosen ones that the concept of covenant is deeper. It's akin to a marriage-like partnership that is characterized by love, grace, and mercy. Both parties of the relational covenant agreement are bound to uphold the tenets of the established covenant. But God's faithfulness ensures the covenant's integrity, even when the covenant's human-signatory to the covenant, fail to keep their end of the covenant agreement. This faithfulness on God's/Yehovah's part is an immutable trait of God. Moseh described this character trait accordingly:  “Yehovah/God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man (i.e. a human being) that He should repent (i.e. change His mind). Has He said and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not establish it?” (Numbers 23:19; LSB) The covenant (sometimes referred to as a blood covenant) is solemnly "cut" or established through an ancient middle eastern ritual that involves animal sacrifices. This bloody, solemn act symbolizes the serious and binding nature of the agreement (Gen 15). The Hebrew word "Berit" pictographically combines elements representing family, leadership, work, and consent. These elements underscore the covenant's relational and purposeful dimensions. Key Biblical Covenants We furthermore outline the five major expansions of Yah's covenant with His chosen ones: The Noahic Covenant (Genesis 6 and 9) The Patriarchal Covenant with Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 12, 15, 17) The National Covenant given through Moses at Sinai (Exodus 19-24) The Davidic Covenant with King David (2 Chronicles, Psalms, Isaiah) The New or Renewed Covenant prophesied by Jeremiah and Ezekiel (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:26-38) Each covenant expansion reveals aspects of God's/Yah's immutable character and the love He has for His set apart people. These expansions include expectations Yah for His covenant people. These expansions of covenant shape Israel's identity and sacred mission on the earth. The Commonness and Uniqueness of Covenants While covenants were common in the ancient Near East, often understood by scholars as treaties that various kings established with their vassals, the Hebrew covenant is unique. For we find that it is initiated solely by God acting from a position of sovereignty. God/Yah offers to His chosen ones a non-negotiable invitation to enter into a relationship with Him that is based on grace and love. Humans may accept or reject that invitation, but they cannot alter the terms of that covenant. Why? Because it is God/Yah Who carries the covenant's weight. Not from a position of subjugating His people, but from an expression of His desire for loving communion with His people. The covenant is thus a sacred bond with rules that both parties must honor. Those who accept the terms of the covenant commit to loving God (and loving God/Yah comes through faithful obedience to Him) and loving one another (Luk 10:27). The prophet Jeremiah's words to the Babylonian captives illustrate God's faithfulness to His covenant despite Israel's failures (chapter 29). Because of Yah's steadfastness to His Covenant, He promises Judah restoration and a future of peace. Greek Understanding of Covenant and Terminology In this teaching we also contrast the Hebrew "Berit" with the Greek "diatheke" that is used in the New Testament and in the LXX/Septuagint. While "diatheke" can refer to a “will” or “testament,” the Greek version of covenant does not capture the rich spiritual depth of the Hebrew, which involves an enduring, intimate relationship that has far-reaching implications for humanity's salvation. Varying Definitions of Covenant We list several scholarly definitions for covenant, some of which emphasize covenant as an alliance, compact, treaty, or sacred kinship bonds. The Hebrew understanding of covenant, however, centers on relationship, promises, and expectations established uniquely by God/Yehovah with Israel/Yisra'el/Yasharal. Conclusion We conclude our discussion by emphasizing the necessity of understanding covenant from a Hebrew perspective that is rooted in Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings. A Greek-only or New Testament-only view limits comprehension of this critical concept and the one that embraces it from that Greek perspective risks missing the covenant's full significance for individual believers and the collective identity of Israel. The covenant remains the foundation for humanity's salvation and our entry into the Kingdom of God (i.e. the Malchut Ahlohim).

His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, and His personal imminent, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulation return. Psalm 135:6, "The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths." Psalm 147:16-18, "He sends the snow like white wool; He scatters frost upon the ground like ashes. He hurls the hail like stones. Who can stand against His freezing cold? Then, at His command, it all melts. He sends His winds, and the ice thaws." Psalm 148:8, "Fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather obey Him." "I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form the light, and create darkness, I bring prosperity, and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things!" Isaiah 45:6-7 Who is regulating affairs on this earth today: God, or the Devil? That God reigns supreme in Heaven, is generally conceded; but that He reigns supreme over this earth, is almost universally denied--if not directly, then indirectly. More and more are men relegating God to the background, in their philosophizing and theorizing. Take the material realm. Not only is it denied that God created everything, by personal and direct action, but few believe that He has any immediate concern in regulating the works of His own hands. In Ephesians 3, Paul describes the mystery of the Gospel, only then revealed in full. That God would save Gentiles as well as Jews, and unite them all together in Christ's church, was a veiled truth until after the Resurrection. But all of this was the eternal purpose, proposed in Christ Jesus as Lord. So by faith in Christ, we all have boldness, and access in confidence to our God. That faith was itself given to us by God through the Holy Ghost. By Christ's blood shed and presented in the holiest place in glory, and being cleansed by that blood, by faith we lay hold upon that boldness and confidence in Christ. Paul insists that those believers faint not because of his own persecutions. Indeed, being bold in Christ in the face of those persecutions is our glory. Paul next prays for them, as members of the family of God in Christ, that according to His riches in glory, they would be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. Paul seeks that Christ might dwell in our hearts by faith, and we ourselves rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, so that we might be able to comprehend, with all the saints, the infinite greatness of the love of Christ. Oh, how we need to grasp the truth of Christ dwelling in our hearts, and believe it is so! It is the unity of the Lord's people by the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, which knits us together with Christ, and the Father, and with each other, that we may all be one in Christ! Oh, that we would know the love of Christ, which naturally cannot be known, but by His Spirit in us, and that we would be filled with the fullness of God Himself! In a real sense, the saints are all "taken over" by the Spirit of Christ in us.

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us--that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1 Those whom Jesus loves, being chosen of God to holiness here on earth, and happiness in eternity--are predestined to the adoption of His children--to the praise of the glory of His grace. They are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son--they are to . . . partake of His nature, receive of His spirit, wear His image, and be associated with Him in honor and glory forever! Jesus calls them: His brethren, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Himself! Being His redeemed children, they . . . have a saving interest in Him, are eternally loved by Him, are in eternal union with Him, and shall never be separated from Him! O wondrous mercy! That God should condescend to make up a family of such vile, polluted, and wretched beings as we are! O wondrous mercy! There are people – maybe even you – who've been written off. Labelled as unworthy, a failure, or a burden. But the book of Philemon in the Bible's New Testament introduces us to a man named Onesimus, a runaway slave who was once seen as useless, yet God wasn't done with him. Through Jesus, his life was transformed, and he became valuable and vital to the very people who once gave up on him.  Many in our society today feel a sense of loneliness and worthlessness. Maybe you too have felt that you are not good enough and struggle to see where your life is going. Well, you are not useless. The apostle Paul writes a letter - a one-chapter book with just 25 verses - to Philemon who was a wealthy merchant in the city of Collosae, modern western Turkey, regarding a man they both knew well, Philemon's slave, Onesimus. And in just a few verses here we can see how God can completely turn lives around. And that includes you. You are not useless, you are not insignificant, and even with a sketchy past, just like Onesimus, your life can change when you encounter Jesus Christ.  1. Your past does not have to define your future (Philemon 1:11,18; Acts 9:3-4) 2. Your identity can be changed through Jesus (Philemon 1:10,16; 2 Corinthians 5:17) 3. Your life can be a blessing to others (Philemon 1:13,21) Apply  1. Your past does not have to define your future. In the Roman Empire, up to a third of the population were enslaved in some areas. Slavery was not the same as the slavery of the Deep South in America, for example, slavery wasn't based on race and slaves might be well-treated as part of the extended household. But slaves had no rights or freedom under Roman law and if they ran away, they faced death. Runaways were often crucified as a deterrent to other slaves. Even with this, Onesimus decided to run away risking everything, almost certainly stealing a substantial amount of money from Philemon to fund his new life (Philemon 1:18). In human eyes, Onesimus was someone to be punished and discarded for what he had done. But when Paul met Onesimus somehow in AD60 or 61 when he was a prisoner, Paul shared the gospel with him. Out of all the people he could have met, he encounters Paul, a close friend of the master he had run away from. His cover was blown! But in being found in this moment, God found him. So, Paul writes a message of mercy to Philemon on Onesimus' behalf (Philemon 1:11). The apostle Paul, formerly Saul, knew all about how encountering Jesus could change direction of your life. He was not expecting what happened to him when he was involved in violently persecuting Christians. He was on his way to Damascus when his whole life changed (Acts 9:3-4). At that moment he realised that Jesus was real and alive. From then on instead of being the greatest opponent of Christianity, he became the apostle Paul, one of its greatest promoters. Many couldn't believe such a transformation could happen and were in fear of Paul because of his reputation, but they soon saw that he was a completely different person. No matter the failures you may have had, God sees potential in you. What people call wasted, God can call chosen. You are not useless, your past is not your prison. You can turn around. 2. Your identity can be changed through Jesus. Onesimus didn't just change roles, he changed status. No longer deemed a servant but now a brother in Christ (Philemon 1:10,16). Onesimus may have been a slave but now he realised he was a son, a son with a spiritual father, and a son of God. His identity had changed. This was one of the big characteristics of the life of the apostle Paul, he was a spiritual father to many and it was one of the big emphases of his teaching. Christ doesn't just give you a new job, He gives you a new identity and value in the family of God (2 Corinthians 5:17 and see testimony of Alice Cooper). You are not your job, your past title, or your mistakes. In Christ, you are a son, a daughter, a co-heir. You are not useless, you are reborn with worth. 3. Your life can be a blessing to others (Philemon 1:13). Onesimus had formerly worked as a slave because he had to; now he served from his heart and he became a very useful person to have around. Actually, Paul came to rely on him. Paul saw Onesimus as useful for ministry, even while in chains. The man once seen as a burden was now a blessing. God was at work in the life of Onesimus to do far greater things than he could ever imagine. Paul sent him back and he was sure that Philemon would receive him back (Philemon 1:21). The Bible doesn't tell us what happened to the former slave Onesimus, but Christian tradition states that he became the overseer of the church in Ephesus. Ignatius described him as a ‘bishop whose love is beyond words. My prayer is that you should love him in the spirit of Jesus Christ and all be like him'. When God transforms you, He doesn't just restore you He repositions you to be a source of hope, help, and healing. God doesn't just save you for heaven. He empowers you to impact lives on earth. You are not useless, you are a vessel of purpose. It begins when you receive the good news of Jesus Christ. That God sent his one and only son into the world not to condemn the world but to save the world. Just like Onesimus, maybe you have been in such a mess and whatever you have tried to bring order to your life has brought more problems. No matter what your past, how others have labelled you, or even how you've viewed yourself, God sees usefulness in you. Like Onesimus, your story can be redeemed, your identity can be restored, and your life can carry great purpose.

Ephesians 1:7. ” What ERBC believes about man: “We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence's, but through temptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men) inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation. Transformative Truth:  Divine love is revealed and expressed by Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Paul prays (1) That God might strengthen us with power through his Spirit in our inner being (Ephesians 3:6-17a) (2) That we might have power to grasp the limitless dimensions of the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:17b-19) Divine Love is revealed and expressed by Father, Son, and Holy Spirit First, to live with an ever-increasing awareness of Divine Love, Consider: Triune love Exists    Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Deuteronomy 6:4) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.  2 Corinthians 13:14 WBC doctrinal statement He (God) is inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all honor, confidence, and love. He eternally exists in three persons, who are equal in every divine perfection, and who execute distinct but harmonious roles in the work of creation, providence and redemption. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.  1 John 4:8  "It is common when speaking of the Divine happiness to say that God is infinitely happy in the enjoyment of Himself, in perfectly beholding and infinitely loving, and rejoicing in, His own essence and perfection..."  (Jonathan Edwards) And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him;  and behold, a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." (John 16:8 ) Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  John 3:5  You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14, NLT Third, to live with an ever-increasing awareness of Divine Love, Consider: Triune love is Extended In other words, the shape of the Father-Son relationship (the headship) begins a gracious cascade, like a waterfall of love: as the Father is the lover and the head of the Son, so the Son goes out to be the lover and the head of the church. "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you," the Son says (Jn 15:9). And therein lies the very goodness of the gospel: as the Father is the lover and the Son the beloved, so Christ becomes the lover and the church the beloved. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – “Believing the Bible”– Supernatural Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2646 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2646 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today, we begin a new focus on the 1st of 16 segments of our Theology Thursday lessons. I will read through the book Supernatural, written by Hebrew Bible scholar, professor, and mentor, the late Dr. Michael S Heiser. Supernatural is a condensed version of his comprehensive book ‘The Unseen Realm.' If these readings pique your interest, I would recommend that you read ‘The Unseen Realm.' Today, we will read through chapter one, ‘Believing the Bible.' Do you really believe what the Bible says? To some, that may seem like an odd question to ask in a book likely to be read mostly by Christians. But I don't think it's so odd. The Bible has some pretty strange things in it—things that are hard to believe, especially in the modern world. I'm not talking about the big stuff, such as whether Jesus was God come to earth, who then died on the cross and rose from the dead. I'm not even thinking of miracle stories like the exodus, when God rescued Israel from Egypt by making a way for them through the Red Sea. Most Christians would say they believe those things. After all, if you don't believe in God and Jesus, or that they could do miraculous things, what's the point of saying you're a Christian? I'm talking about the little-known supernatural stuff you run into occasionally when reading the Bible, but rarely hear about in church. Here's an example. In 1 Kings 22, there's a story about a wicked king of Israel, Ahab. He wants to join forces with the king of Judah to attack an enemy at a place called Ramoth-gilead. Judah's king wants a glimpse into the future—he wants to know what's going to happen if they attack. So the two kings ask Ahab's prophets and get thumbs up all around. But those prophets are just telling Ahab what he wants to hear, and both kings know it. So they decide to ask God's prophet, a fellow named Micaiah. What he says isn't good news for Ahab: Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing beside him on his right hand and on his left; and the Lord said, “Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?” And one said one thing, and another said another. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, saying, “I will entice him.” And the Lord said to him, “By what means?” And he said, “I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.” And he said, “You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.” Now therefore behold, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the Lord has declared disaster for you. (1 Kings 22:19–23) Did you catch what the Bible's asking you to believe? That God meets with a group of spirit beings to decide what happens on earth? Is that for real? Here's another example, courtesy of Jude: And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day....

Confidence in God's Faithfulness Expressing a desire for God to speak to hearts and help individuals receive, believe, and act upon His word, leading to personal transformation. "Without You anointing, God is not anointing. So we pray that You would speak to us and help us as Your children to receive it, to believe it, and to mind it. Not just to hear it, but to do it. Lord, that we might leave this place different than we came." The Reality of Disappointment and the Importance of Faith Acknowledging the prevalence of disappointment in the world due to the fallen nature of humanity. "We live in a world that is full of disappointment. It's on every hand. But we live among people that are of a fallen nature just like we are." Highlighting how disappointment can erode confidence, especially when desires are unmet or when internal struggles arise. "But the disappointment often steals our confidence. When things don't go the way that we want them to, when it doesn't work out as we'd like, and when maybe our flesh, the afflictions of our flesh, war against our mind, it becomes a strain and a struggle." Emphasizing the importance of faith in God as the foundation of confidence, particularly in believing that God will ultimately work things out. "That's what it comes down to is do I believe Him? And that's where my confidence comes from is my faith. And so if I don't have the faith or if I'm lacking that faith or maybe I need to pray as the father of the young man did help my unbelief, maybe, regardless, that it's going to be alright. That God's going to work this out." Affirming that God never fails, even amidst life's challenges, and expressing gratitude for knowing a God who can do all things. "But if you've been at it a while, you've probably also come to the place that you recognize that God never fails. Good things happen and bad stuff happens and that's just part of my soul that just weeps when you do. But oh how glad I am that I know one who can do all things." Reassuring that God is never perplexed or uncertain about how to address individual problems or situations. "He's never sat on his throne perplexed about what to do. About how to fix your problem. About how to solve whatever's going on in your life. About whether or not to do this. God has never one time wondered about what to do next." Affirming confidence in God despite personal failures, emphasizing that God has never failed. "I want you to know tonight that in spite of my failures, I'm confident in Him. He has never failed me." Reflecting on past experiences and recognizing God's presence and support through difficult times. "There's been a lot of things that I Hadn't thought at the time I'd like to see different There's been times that I've experienced things that took my breath away Didn't know what to do Didn't know if I was going to live or die Didn't know how it was going to turn out But may I say to you From the mountain looking back He was in the valley the whole time" God's Unchanging Nature and Continuous Work Highlighting the Apostle Paul's experiences of hardship and perseverance, emphasizing that God was always holding onto him. "The apostle was able to write To the church in Philippi there in the Corinthian letter, how he spoke to them and he shared with them all that great list of things that he had went through and how he had been stoned and left for dead and shipwrecked and the perils of all those different things. And yet he still held on and found out there was one still holding on to him." Expressing confidence that God knows every aspect of one's life, past, present, and future. "I pray that there ain't one gap in your life's history. Nor one spot in the future of your days. Brother that God doesn't already know about." Affirming God's unchanging nature and His commitment to finishing the work He starts in indiv...

Last fall, I preached a series of sermons on the armor of God as part of a series in the epistle to the Ephesians. Today, I am not preaching any of those sermons. I am preaching this sermon on a familiar passage out of a sense of urgency for all of us (me included). It might be because we are honoring six of our own from Meadowbrooke Church who have graduated from High School. It may also be because of multiple examples we are given in the Bible of individuals who started well, but whose lives ended poorly; people like Solomon, Uzziah, Judas, and the two men Paul lists in 1 Timothy (Hymenaeus and Alexander) who did not do the things Paul urged Timothy to do, which was to, ...fight the good fight, keep the faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith (1 Tim. 1:1819). Then there are the repeated admonitions throughout the New Testament; permit me to share some of those with you this morning: Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. (Matt. 24:42) Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (1 Cor. 16:13) For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. (Heb. 2:1) So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. (Eph. 5:15-16) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. (1 Pet. 5:8-9) Aside from the multiple examples of the moral failure of key individuals in the Bible who started off strong spiritually and then ended badly, and the many appeals throughout the New Testament to be careful, to pay attention, to be alert, and to be sober minded. Over the past 18 years and nearly 180 hours I have spent in the book of Revelation, the thing I have seen and keep seeing is the repeated appeal throughout the book to persevere until the end: Be faithful until death... (Rev. 2:10) The one who overcomes, and keeps My deeds until the end... (2:26) Hold firmly to what you have... (3:11) The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. (Rev. 21:7) The question is how do you finish well, stay alert, and endure until the end? I believe Ephesians 6:10-18 provides us with that answer. The Enemy is Demonic and Real (v. 12) We are specifically told that the struggle we face is both demonic and real. We are told in Ephesians 6:10, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. The reason we are told to be strong in the Lord is because our struggle is with powerful forces that are demonic in nature: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph. 6:12). The rulers, powers, world forces of darkness, and spiritual forces of wickedness are those angels who sided with Satan in his war against God. Although Satan is only one demon who cannot be in more than one place at a time, he has authority over millions of demons who obey his every command. The rulers, authorities, powers, and spiritual forces of wickedness are different demons with various ranks and responsibilities; some influence governments and kings, others have a more global influence, and many focus their attacks on individual Christians. Now to be clear, we are told that when Jesus saved you and redeemed you through the life He lived, the sin-atoning death He died, and His victory over the grave... that He, disarmed the rulers, powers, world forces, and spiritual forces of wickedness and, made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him [Jesus] (Col. 2:13-15). In his [1]book, The Warrior Savior, Owen Strachan wrote, The crucifixion represented a real death, but not a real defeat. Listen, the demonic powers have no claim or authority over you Christian except what you give to them. Paul does not mince words here and leaves no room for confusion: For our struggle... our fight is not just a fight, but it is a wrestling match in the way that it is not off in the distance but in your face, around you, on you, and is only interested in choking you out! And our struggle is not only with our flesh, but also with, ...the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Our enemys attacks come from afar and they come to us up close! The enemy brings his fight against us in all different way and techniques! It comes in the form of slander, false teaching, and the temptation to sin. Our fight can come in the form of doubt, depression, and deception. The battle can come in the form of persecution from friends, family, or state authorities. Believe me when I say this: the enemy knows you better than you know you, and he is strategic, deceptive, and is set on silencing or sidling you in any way possible. It is possible that you have already given the enemy ground, and you are trapped and not sure out to break free. There is One who is mightily greater than they! The Strength of the Lord is Necessary (vv. 10, 13-17) There is no persevering, no conquering, and no victory apart from Jesus! There is only one remedy against Satan, against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places... and that remedy is the One who disarmed them, ...having triumphed over them (Col. 2:15). There was only One capable of doing such a thing: And when you were dead in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross (Col. 2:1314). Listen, when it comes to the Christian life, when it comes to standing firm, when it comes to persevering, when it comes to being a Christian, you CANNOT do it apart from Jesus! He alone is the first and the last, and the living One; He was dead, and behold, He is alive forevermore, and it is He who holds the keys of death and Hades (Rev. 1:17-18). The One who died is the Lamb of God, and because He is the Lion of Judah, He conquered death when He got up on Sunday morning and because He is both the Lamb and the Lion, He alone is worthy, to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing (Rev. 5:1-14). When it comes to living the Christian life, you cannot do it with Jesus at a distance, you cannot do it with Him being second, and you cannot do it out of your own strength! You can only do it if He is your strength. The biblical definition for the word salvation is not confined to a date when you believed and said some prayer. No! The biblical definition for salvation includes the day you were saved but is only complete when you receive a resurrection and all things in creation are made new. It is of this salvation that the great multitude in heaven that includes every nation, all the tribes, peoples, and languages who cry out at the top of their lungs: Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb (Rev. 7:10). The completion of your salvation in the biblical sense, cannot be done on your own, but ONLY in the strength and might of King Jesus (Eph. 6:10)! Okay, so how can you be strong in the strength and might of Jesus? We are told that we do that by putting on the full armor of God (v. 11). What is the armor of God? Let me first tell you what it includes: The belt of truth, which is Gods truth. The breastplate of righteousness, which is Christs righteousness. The shoes of the gospel of peace, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ that that we stand firmly in. The shield of faith is our hope in God that is saturated by the truth of Gods word. The helmet of salvation, which is the security that we have in the assurance of our salvation. The sword of the Spirit is the word of God as our offensive weapon in all the armor we are to put on. For those of you who were here for the armor of God part of the Ephesian series, what I am about to say probably will not surprise you. Each piece of the armor of God belongs to Jesus. Jesus is our belt of truth, Jesus is our breastplate of righteousness, Jesus is our peace, Jesus is our shield of faith, Jesus is our helmet of salvation, and Jesus is the Word of God. I am convinced that the way one puts on the armor of God is by abiding in Jesus. This is why the phrase in Christ or in Him or any other phrase related to in Christ is repeated about 36 times in the short six chapters that make up Ephesians. The only way to put on the armor is by abiding in Jesus. What does it mean to abide in Jesus? There are scores of passages we can turn to answer that question, but I will show you two: The first is in 1 John 3:24, and this is what the apostle John wrote: The one who keeps His commandments remains in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us (1 John 3:24). Listen, the only way you can know how to keep His commandments is if you know what His word says; His commandments are His words. The second passage that unpacks what we just read in 1 John is found in the Gospel of John through the words of Jesus: Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.... If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.... If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Fathers commandments and remain in His love. (John 15:4, 7, 10) The word remain can also be translated stand. In John the Greek word that is used is abide, menō, which is a different word than the one used in Ephesians 6:10-11, (histēmi). The point is the same though, there is no standing firmly against the devils schemes unless you are abiding in Jesus by keeping His Word and making it apart of you. There is no taking up the armor of God if you are not remaining, abiding, or standing in fellowship with Jesus. The Power of Persistent Prayer is Needed (vv. 18ff.) There are six pieces of the armor of God that are typically emphasized in sermons and in books, and I listed all six that are mentioned in the Bible, but there is one more that does not get the kind of attention that it deserves. In the Bible, certain numbers are important. The number 3 signifies divine wholeness and perfection, the number 4 symbolizes completeness in relation to creation, the number 1,000 symbolizes an extended period of time or an indefinite but great amount of time, and the number 7 symbolizes completion, wholeness, and perfection. The number 7 appears throughout the Bible over 700 times. In six days, God created everything and on the seventh day, He rested, which marked the completion of creation. The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit are only six pieces and do not complete the set! Yet we are specifically told in Ephesians 6:11, Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. There is a seventh piece that completes the set and that seventh piece that belongs to the whole armor of God is how you know you have put on the armor of God and how you know that you are abiding in Jesus! The seventh piece of the armor of God that completes the set is found in our dependance upon Jesus through prayer; look carefully at verse 18: With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints... How does one stay alert? How can the Christian persevere? By putting on the full armor of God? How do I put on the full armor of God? By standing in the One to whom six pieces of the armor belongs and by dependently going to Him, With every prayer and request... How often ought we to pray? We are to pray, at all times in the Spirit... So important is prayer as a part of the full armor of God, that the apostle Paul asked that these Ephesian Christians also pray on his behalf that God would do the following four things in his life: That God give Paul the words to say. That God open Pauls mouth. That God embolden Paul in the opening of his mouth. That God use Paul to clearly make known the mystery of the gospel. What is the point? The point is this: There is no persevering, no conquering, and no victory apart from Jesus! The only way to stay awake and watchful, the only way to keep yourself from falling into the foolishness of sin, the only way to be aware of the schemes of the devil is if you are, strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might (v. 10). The only way you are going to do that is if you are abiding in the Lord by keeping His word, and the evidence you are abiding in Him is if you recognize that your only recourse against His schemes is to run to God in prayer. Last fall, I preached a series of sermons on the armor of God as part of a series in the epistle to the Ephesians. Today, I am not preaching any of those sermons. I am preaching this sermon on a familiar passage out of a sense of urgency for all of us (me included). It might be because we are honoring six of our own from Meadowbrooke Church who have graduated from High School. It may also be because of multiple examples we are given in the Bible of individuals who started well, but whose lives ended poorly; people like Solomon, Uzziah, Judas, and the two men Paul lists in 1 Timothy (Hymenaeus and Alexander) who did not do the things Paul urged Timothy to do, which was to, ...fight the good fight, keep the faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith (1 Tim. 1:1819). Then there are the repeated admonitions throughout the New Testament; permit me to share some of those with you this morning: Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. (Matt. 24:42) Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (1 Cor. 16:13) For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. (Heb. 2:1) So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. (Eph. 5:15-16) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. (1 Pet. 5:8-9) Aside from the multiple examples of the moral failure of key individuals in the Bible who started off strong spiritually and then ended badly, and the many appeals throughout the New Testament to be careful, to pay attention, to be alert, and to be sober minded. Over the past 18 years and nearly 180 hours I have spent in the book of Revelation, the thing I have seen and keep seeing is the repeated appeal throughout the book to persevere until the end: Be faithful until death... (Rev. 2:10) The one who overcomes, and keeps My deeds until the end... (2:26) Hold firmly to what you have... (3:11) The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. (Rev. 21:7) The question is how do you finish well, stay alert, and endure until the end? I believe Ephesians 6:10-18 provides us with that answer. The Enemy is Demonic and Real (v. 12) We are specifically told that the struggle we face is both demonic and real. We are told in Ephesians 6:10, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. The reason we are told to be strong in the Lord is because our struggle is with powerful forces that are demonic in nature: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph. 6:12). The rulers, powers, world forces of darkness, and spiritual forces of wickedness are those angels who sided with Satan in his war against God. Although Satan is only one demon who cannot be in more than one place at a time, he has authority over millions of demons who obey his every command. The rulers, authorities, powers, and spiritual forces of wickedness are different demons with various ranks and responsibilities; some influence governments and kings, others have a more global influence, and many focus their attacks on individual Christians. Now to be clear, we are told that when Jesus saved you and redeemed you through the life He lived, the sin-atoning death He died, and His victory over the grave... that He, disarmed the rulers, powers, world forces, and spiritual forces of wickedness and, made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him [Jesus] (Col. 2:13-15). In his [1]book, The Warrior Savior, Owen Strachan wrote, The crucifixion represented a real death, but not a real defeat. Listen, the demonic powers have no claim or authority over you Christian except what you give to them. Paul does not mince words here and leaves no room for confusion: For our struggle... our fight is not just a fight, but it is a wrestling match in the way that it is not off in the distance but in your face, around you, on you, and is only interested in choking you out! And our struggle is not only with our flesh, but also with, ...the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Our enemys attacks come from afar and they come to us up close! The enemy brings his fight against us in all different way and techniques! It comes in the form of slander, false teaching, and the temptation to sin. Our fight can come in the form of doubt, depression, and deception. The battle can come in the form of persecution from friends, family, or state authorities. Believe me when I say this: the enemy knows you better than you know you, and he is strategic, deceptive, and is set on silencing or sidling you in any way possible. It is possible that you have already given the enemy ground, and you are trapped and not sure out to break free. There is One who is mightily greater than they! The Strength of the Lord is Necessary (vv. 10, 13-17) There is no persevering, no conquering, and no victory apart from Jesus! There is only one remedy against Satan, against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places... and that remedy is the One who disarmed them, ...having triumphed over them (Col. 2:15). There was only One capable of doing such a thing: And when you were dead in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross (Col. 2:1314). Listen, when it comes to the Christian life, when it comes to standing firm, when it comes to persevering, when it comes to being a Christian, you CANNOT do it apart from Jesus! He alone is the first and the last, and the living One; He was dead, and behold, He is alive forevermore, and it is He who holds the keys of death and Hades (Rev. 1:17-18). The One who died is the Lamb of God, and because He is the Lion of Judah, He conquered death when He got up on Sunday morning and because He is both the Lamb and the Lion, He alone is worthy, to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing (Rev. 5:1-14). When it comes to living the Christian life, you cannot do it with Jesus at a distance, you cannot do it with Him being second, and you cannot do it out of your own strength! You can only do it if He is your strength. The biblical definition for the word salvation is not confined to a date when you believed and said some prayer. No! The biblical definition for salvation includes the day you were saved but is only complete when you receive a resurrection and all things in creation are made new. It is of this salvation that the great multitude in heaven that includes every nation, all the tribes, peoples, and languages who cry out at the top of their lungs: Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb (Rev. 7:10). The completion of your salvation in the biblical sense, cannot be done on your own, but ONLY in the strength and might of King Jesus (Eph. 6:10)! Okay, so how can you be strong in the strength and might of Jesus? We are told that we do that by putting on the full armor of God (v. 11). What is the armor of God? Let me first tell you what it includes: The belt of truth, which is Gods truth. The breastplate of righteousness, which is Christs righteousness. The shoes of the gospel of peace, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ that that we stand firmly in. The shield of faith is our hope in God that is saturated by the truth of Gods word. The helmet of salvation, which is the security that we have in the assurance of our salvation. The sword of the Spirit is the word of God as our offensive weapon in all the armor we are to put on. For those of you who were here for the armor of God part of the Ephesian series, what I am about to say probably will not surprise you. Each piece of the armor of God belongs to Jesus. Jesus is our belt of truth, Jesus is our breastplate of righteousness, Jesus is our peace, Jesus is our shield of faith, Jesus is our helmet of salvation, and Jesus is the Word of God. I am convinced that the way one puts on the armor of God is by abiding in Jesus. This is why the phrase in Christ or in Him or any other phrase related to in Christ is repeated about 36 times in the short six chapters that make up Ephesians. The only way to put on the armor is by abiding in Jesus. What does it mean to abide in Jesus? There are scores of passages we can turn to answer that question, but I will show you two: The first is in 1 John 3:24, and this is what the apostle John wrote: The one who keeps His commandments remains in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us (1 John 3:24). Listen, the only way you can know how to keep His commandments is if you know what His word says; His commandments are His words. The second passage that unpacks what we just read in 1 John is found in the Gospel of John through the words of Jesus: Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.... If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.... If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Fathers commandments and remain in His love. (John 15:4, 7, 10) The word remain can also be translated stand. In John the Greek word that is used is abide, menō, which is a different word than the one used in Ephesians 6:10-11, (histēmi). The point is the same though, there is no standing firmly against the devils schemes unless you are abiding in Jesus by keeping His Word and making it apart of you. There is no taking up the armor of God if you are not remaining, abiding, or standing in fellowship with Jesus. The Power of Persistent Prayer is Needed (vv. 18ff.) I was talking with Ronald Davis last time on the podcast. He is Shana Rattler Davis' husband. She was on the show in episode 76. What is a God shift? I recommend you go back and listen to Shayna's interview with me. Would truly bless your heart talking about multiple topics, [00:01:00] particularly her journey with abuse and how she healed. I'm not gonna go through the bio for Ronald for the sake of time, I wanna give him as much time as possible to deliver the rest of his message, what he has for us today on prayer. So be sure to listen to the first episode if you have not yet listened to it. But we're going to carry on. Without further ado, my continuing conversation with Ronald Davis. You said so many things that are absolutely true. And a lot of our listeners, they have trouble, like I did praying in the midst of the abuse or shortly after getting out of the abuse and trying to recover. So tell us about how does prayer fit into your life when you're being abused? When you're angry with God, when you're don't understand what's [00:02:00] going on you're on the couch with God. What do we do with that? Yeah, that's a great question. I was angry with God, I'm gonna be honest with you. If I could be transparent, because at one point I thought God put me together. I thought this was a God thing, and God, why would you allow me to go through this just for it to end this way? Just for me not to be able to see my daughter? So I understand that place. I was also angry with God, but when you know the word of the Lord, you realize that I can't blame God for my own decision. And a lot of times what I've discovered, especially now that I've really learned the way of prayer, is a lot of times we are making decisions and we're wanting God to bless our decision. Instead of praying and seeking God for his will. God's blessing, his grace will always follow his will. So sometimes we end up in situations that our flesh got us into, and then we blame God for it. So we first have to forgive ourselves and once again, we do have to be word [00:03:00] based, not based on our emotions. So if every good and perfect gift comes from above , and I was in a bad marriage, then there may be an indication that maybe I chose wrongly and I have to own that. To forgive myself, not to play the victim or, to be shameful about it, but own it. Forgive myself and understand that God forgave me. Even if I had to get a divorce, God still forgave me. Not that we condoning divorces or we are encouraging divorces. We always push marriage, we always push stay together. Yes. But we understand that there's certain situations that do require for people to end, for marriages to end, because it's worse for them to stay together than it is for them to be apart. And in those situations, we have to trust God in that process. So what I learned to do is to go to God in my brokenness. I went to God in my brokenness and I realized, God, I've made some decisions. I've settled for some things. I've said some things. I'm tired [00:04:00] of the life that I have produced. I want the life that you produce. Mm-hmm. So I would just sit in his presence. I will seek God and I would cry out to him until he began to really deal with my heart, really begin to deal with me. I just began to love on Jesus. I stayed in worship, I stayed in prayer. And in that, you God, you begin to really experience God's love. And once you experience God's love, you'll realize that that was not his will for you. That was not his perfect plan for you. And even if he allows you to go through it, you'll begin to understand now how all things are working together for your good 'cause. You're called to God and you love God and called according to his purpose. And even in that though, I, we say that scripture, all things work together for the good. I have this saying in my, yeah, all things work together for the good, but all things don't have to. That means I don't necessarily. There's some things I go through because I made some bad decisions, but even in that God can get the good out of it, God can restore me. [00:05:00] God is not responsible for the abuse. God is not the one who did that, but God is the one that can heal me from that experience. God is the one that can restore me from going through such a thing. So I will say this real quick. Mm-hmm. So in that process of the seeking God and praying, I remember I did nine hours of prayer for the first time. I pray for nine hours straight, our purpose. I said, I'm gonna worship and pray for nine hours. Ooh. About three and a half hours in, I can hear the spirit whisper to me so clearly that I'm gonna restore the past nine years of your life. I kept worshiping and I kept praying, and I didn't think thing about it. I was on a 21 day fast. And then he said again, he said, I'm gonna restore the last nine years of your life. He said, what happened nine years ago? All right. I'm getting a little emotional now because I just, that's journey. He says, what happened nine years ago? And I didn't realize that on this fast. The fast was ending right around what would've been my nine year anniversary. [00:06:00] Oh, so nine years prior to that is when I got married. Nine years prior to that is when that journey started, because that we separated at seven. So we already separated for a couple years when I had this encounter, right? So he said, what happened nine years ago? And I said, and and I began it this week before because he said, I'm gonna restore the years. You gave me nine hours. I'm gonna restore nine years. So I remember having that conversation with the Holy Spirit, not thinking much about it. Continue to pursue God. I wasn't seeking a spouse, I wasn't praying for a spouse. I just wanted Jesus. And in that pursuit, I tell people all the time, the life that I have now is the life that came out of prayer. Not necessarily that came because I asked for it. It's like God begins to reveal his will, his purpose, and he began to send his person, his, his people into my life. And in the Holy Spirit, begin, your next wife will be the exact opposite. The exact opposite of what you've been through. [00:07:00] So apart the same year that I received that word is the same year that I met my wife. Ooh, that's good. I love that. So, sometime we think we lose time by withdrawing and some people think, well, I need to be out there dating. No, you don't. Allow God to deal with you first. There's nothing more powerful when it comes to the transformation of the believer than spending time in his presence. There's nothing more empowering. There's nothing more enlightening. There's nothing more transformational. There's nothing more encouraging than spending time in his presence. And unfortunately, we don't make the time to do that consistently. And we're wondering why we're not living that life of victory and transformation. It's something that happens when we just sell out to God completely and we become consistent in our pursuit of him. Amen. That . I agree with [00:08:00] you and you say, we've made some decisions that weren't God's will. I did get red flags before when I was dating my now ex and my mother and my sister warned to me and I didn't listen. And I don't know, maybe it was just 'cause I was 22 years old and naive. But I didn't listen to the red flags the Lord sent me. Yes. So I do own that for sure. And when I started dating after my divorce, that was a big mistake. Huge mistake. If I could take back by going on a time machine, I would not have done that because a lot of train wreck relationships, I was not ready. I should have worked on my relationship with Jesus, like you said. And I was smart enough not to marry the guys on the dating websites that were just as abusive as my ex. But it wasn't until I gave up [00:09:00] on meeting anybody and, I'm just going to go to church and serve the Lord. And I didn't really wanna get married either. And then God brought me my current husband when it was time, and it'll be 15 years in March, so, wow. Yeah. And our marriage isn't perfect, but it's built on love and respect and, Jesus is in charge of our marriage, not each other. And it is night and day. Yeah, it is. Yeah. He is completely opposite. And the problem is, a lot of times what we don't realize is when we come out of something, what we came out of needs to get out of us. Because if what we came out of doesn't get out of us, it would attract the same thing. It would attract the same person into your life. It would attract the abuser. It's like a magnetic pulling force. So you gotta allow you to yourself to be delivered [00:10:00] from the victim that you have become, and start seeing yourself differently. Start loving yourself again, valuing yourself again, and therefore you'll have a low tolerance from anything that looks anything like yesterday. And you would know that God has something better for you and you're willing to wait for it. And when it comes, like, it's God. Because like I said, it's the exact opposite. It's like God smiles on you and that's when the restoration comes in because God will now give you someone that will help you get to a place in life that the years of abuse have taken from you. You know what I'm saying? Like where you probably should have been further along the line, but now you got the right person in your life and now there's an acceleration. There's a grace upon your life for speed and in production, and now you're thriving in ministry and everything you want now is coming to pass. It's because God put the right people around you. Amen. Yeah. Now, when did you decide to write this book? Tell us what's [00:11:00] in the book and how did God tell you, Hey, you need to write this book about prayer. Yeah. So this prayer, like, the prayer journey that started so much for me, it started up the ministry that I have now kingdom True global. We do prayer revivals in different regions. We have 365 days of prayer where we pray every single day. We have intercessors praying every single day. We have times where we schedule long prayers that we have a lot going on in the area of prayer, and we'll also be doing a church plant starting this year. So we're excited about that. But, when God began to take me deep in prayer, he began to gimme so much wisdom and revelation. It's like he just began to unlock. And a lot of it was because I began to experience a lot of things in the place of prayer. So in that, I started teaching at this place called Eagle Institute. It's a Bible Institute friend of mine, she's a leader of, and I taught a course on prayer. And it was after that course that the Lord was like, you need to put this in a book, so I talked about the 12 [00:12:00] language, the prayer, the four stages of transformation, the purpose and power of prayer, which is to see his kingdom coming as will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And foundational, the prayer is our intimacy and identity. So all of these truths begin to come out of my encounters with God and my experience with him, and he began to show me why most people don't thrive in prayer. Most people don't thrive in prayer. It's because prayer is about what they want. It's not about what you do. You're calling me out, brother. So the purpose of power of prayer, thy kingdom come is to challenge the body of Christ. Not just to engage prayer on a consistent basis, but to engage prayer with spiritual understanding. To build with the right foundation, building on the foundation of intimacy. Make prayer more about knowing God and communing with God and growing in your identity in Christ than you do with what you want. Because the more we grow in our identity and the more we understand that he's our father, then we [00:13:00] will come to grips with the fact that he knows what we have need of, and then we have the grace to seek versus kingdom and watch all things beyond it to our life. So there, there's prerequisites, and like, and the more we grow in, in identity. The more we grow and provision, the more we grow in identity, the more we grow in power. The more we grow in identity, the more we grow in holiness. So God begins to continue to allow you to grow in the place of prayer that the promises of God will begin to find expression in your life. But most of us, we don't stay in prayer long enough to experience those dimensions. Because the moment we ask for something and it's not happening in the timeframe that we want, we would think either it's not God's will or God is not hearing me. And no God is hearing you. And then maybe God is molding you and shaping you into a person that he wants to respond to. And that's what happens in a place of prayer, consistent prayer. God molds and shapes us into a vessel that he's eager to respond to. Therefore, whatsoever we ask in prayer, believing we shall receive whatsoever, we ask in accordance as will [00:14:00] should be done unto us. Why we become the person. He that he answers, we become that person in prayer, so prayer is a journey. It really is a journey with God as a journey into God. And when you commit to that journey, God will begin to reveal himself first. And as He reveals himself, he transforms you. And as he transforms you, he transforms your life. And as he transforms his life, then you become an agent of transformation. And it all happens in the place of prayer. So this book, thy Kingdom Come the purpose its power and prayer, like I said, it is igniting. I'm getting so many testimonies already, how this book is this impacting and changing lives. But it really gives you a clear understanding of the kingdom agenda and the purpose and power of prayer and understanding the benefits of prayer. What happens when you begin to pray? And most people pray for revival, right? And we look at the history of the church. We pray for revival. What happens? Revival comes. [00:15:00] We no longer pray. Revival dies. See the same level of .Intensity that brings revival is the same level of intensity that sustains revival. It's not that we keep praying for revival. No. We just keep praying with the same level of intensity. And most of what we call revival is simply the Christian life, normal Christian living, finding expression in a believer. That's how we're supposed to be living. We just got so powered, right, right Earth. But with the secret to that lifestyle of constantly walking in the newness of life and walking in the abundance of life is to be constant in prayer, to be consistent in prayer, to be steadfast in prayer, to be earnest in prayer. And when prayer becomes not just something we do to receive, but something we do to live, that's when we really begin to see the benefits of prayer. Yeah. I'll admit that it is not something I'm good at. I am much, much better at Bible study than I am at prayer. I [00:16:00] think transition that I'm going through right now, instead of having a list of, pray for so and so, pray for this. And, and lately God's been telling me because I'll say, I'm praying for my husband to change this, or I'm praying for my coworker, my coworkers on my last nerve or whatever, change my coworker, whatever. And I'm now hearing God saying, no, you need to pray and work on yourself, for love and tolerance and changing yourself instead of praying for the other person to change, you need to change yourself and give them more grace. You were mentioning forgiveness. So yeah, it's definitely a journey and it's not easy. Yeah. And it's one of the things that the devil fights the church the most. Because if you think about it's, most people, sometimes it's a struggle to study, but you find more people that study than you do that pray, it is [00:17:00] something about prayer that the enemy doesn't want the believer to do it. Yeah. Because if we really look at it, what does the Bible teach us as much as we study the Bible said, pray without ceasing. Be constant in prayer. Be instant in prayer. Continue on prayer watching the same way Thanksgiving. Be anxious for nothing, but with prayer. Suffocation, with thanksgiving, make your request known unto God. Men are always to pray and faint not. Pray that you enter not into temptation. So the Bible has much to say about prayer, but our lives often don't exemplify the level of importance that the Bible stresses about prayer. And then the question is then must be asked, is it possible? The reason why we're not living in the fullness of Christ is because we're not living the way of prayer, because we've done the Bible study thing. We got degrees for days. Some of us, we can break down the text. Yes. But, and one thing I'd say, I say in the book, it's in the place of prayer where your theology becomes your reality. Your revelation becomes your experience, and the truth, becomes the truth you do. So that's [00:18:00] what prayer does for us. So no matter how hard it is, the challenge is just to commit to being consistent and let the Holy Spirit do the rest. The more you pray, the more you can pray. The less you pray, the less you can pray. It's just that simple. So when you make that commitment, I don't care if it's 15 minutes a day where you say every single day, I don't want ask God for anything. Prayer. You'll see prayer not just as a time of request. See, it is time with God. So for 15 minutes, I'm gonna commune with God for a hour, I'm gonna commune with God, and I'm going to pray thy kingdom come thy, will be done. I'm gonna pray. Father let you, perfect will be done. Father, let your life be revealed in me. You pray His word over your life. You pray his word over your family, and you keep it simple and you keep it consistent. And you'll be surprised over time how now you will develop a hunger for more of God and you'll develop a hunger for more of [00:19:00] prayer, mm-hmm. So I challenge anyone listening to this interview, no matter where you are, are you pray every so often or you don't pray at all? Decide today. That God is gonna be first. I was reading a book. I recommend this book actually , plus my book, of course, that came to Color, purpose of Power, but is a book. The guy's last name is Eastman. Dick Eastman, the Hour That Changed the World. And he talks about how he decided to be consistent in prayer, where he prayed for just one hour. He broke it down to 12 different things that he gave five minutes to, and he developed a real basic way of developing consistency and prayer, so when it boils down to it, we just gotta commit to that consistency and know and be in there for the long run. Don't think everything's gonna change overnight. See it as a place where you can commune in fellowship with God every single day. I've found that the Psalms help a lot. Yeah. Because when you're like, I don't know what to pray for. I don't know how to do this. [00:20:00] Boy this, the Psalms really help because it even talks about when you're depressed and you're feel abandoned, you feel, far away from God. You just pray those psalms and, mm-hmm. That's a great, jumping off point. Yeah. Yeah. And one of the things we talk about in the book too, it's like, and it is really seeking God for his will, and then understanding the power of just those simple words. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done. With that. If that word alone found the expression in every believer's life, we will see what revival looks like. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. If you have nothing else to pray, pray that. Put that on repetition. Say it over and over again until it becomes your reality, till you start seeing that word begin to manifest in your life. I have two prayer points, believe it or not, as much as I pray, I still only have two main prayer points. My two main prayer points. Number one, thy kingdom thy [00:21:00] will be done on earth as it is in heaven. My second prayer point is, father, let Christ be exalted. Let Christ be revealed. Let Christ be glorified in and through my life. So prayer , you're not heard by much saying, even though we should spend a lot of time with God, because I believe in long prayer. I believe in consistent prayer, but you gotta start somewhere. I've grown to that place. But most importantly, it's doesn't necessarily have to be full of a bunch of words. Even that thy kingdom come that alone, that could be pray, thy kingdom come, that will be done in my region. Thy kingdom come. That will be done in my city. Thy kingdom come, that will be done in my finances. Thy kingdom come. That will be done in my body. Father, that your kingdom come, will be done in my marriage. Your kingdom come, will be done in my loved ones. You know what I'm saying? So you take that and you make that a prayer point for everybody you know, and you start there and say, now what happens is over time that you unlock the grace to pray. The Holy Spirit will begin to quicken [00:22:00] your prayer life. And from there it's like you would, you begin, you become a major intercession for the Lord. Amen to that. Yeah. Boy, that's, it is so profound and such a blessing, what you said today. It's gold. It really is helpful hearing those things, to get us back into prayer if we've been absent for a while or to strengthen the prayer life we have. So no matter what happened to you, no matter what you've done, we have the grounds of prayer is not how long we can pray. The grounds of prayer is not how often we can pray. The grounds of prayer is the finished work of Jesus Christ and understanding that through the blood of Jesus, we have access. We have been forgiven, we have been redeemed, we have been washed, we have been purified. And now Jesus is the door. Prayer is life inside the door. Prayer the blood of Jesus. The finished work of the cross is God's commitment to you. Prayer is your commitment to God, and you have access. Now, the life sacrifice of Jesus makes our lives sacrifice acceptable. So I encourage all of us to present our bodies, to present our lives as a living sacrifice and a [00:24:00] place of prayer, holy and acceptable to God which is our reasonable service. Give yourself the prayer. I just wanna encourage everybody, to give yourself the prayer as much as, as often as prayer comes to mind. You don't have to know what to say, just do it. You to talk to God. Love him, worship. Praise him, speak his word. So I just wanna encourage everybody with that, know that you have access. And that's one of the reasons why a lot of people don't pray. Where the combination it says, this is the confidence that we have in him, that our hearts condemn us. Not we have confidence towards God, but if our hearts condemn us, right? So God is greater than our heart. So realize God is greater than your heart. The blood sacrifice of Jesus was enough.
