Get a behind the scenes listen to Tony and Steve, black men who have been friends for over 20 years. Listen for funny and insightful stories about current events, race, jacked up relationships, family shenanigans, prostate exams and a host of other bs.
In an effort to get accurate information as well as to better understand the the lives of our frontline medical workers during this pandemic, we reached out to three healthcare professionals to get their perspectives on the Cover-19 crises. We spoke to a nurse in Washington DC, a physician in Arizona, and a nurse case manager in St. Louis. Each area has been impacted in different ways by Corona-19. Differentiating fact from fiction, together they paint a picture of what it's really like working in the medical field during during this pandemic as well as giving us practical strategies that each of us should be implementing during this pandemic and beyond.
It tool a lot of work to to find something other than Coronavirus to talk about, but Tony and Steve did it. First they talk about social distancing and trying to watch broadcasters talk while 6 feet apart. If you didn't see D Nice try to break the internet or Debbie Allen give dance lessons on Instagram, you missed it. But we're guessing that there will be a lot more of that coming in the future. Even though there's no sports, the NFL is still making headlines. Tom Brady to the Buccaneers? And try not to slap your neighbor.
Everywhere you turn, it'a all about the coronavirus. If you're tired of hearing about the coronavirus and just need a levity break, this is it. Nothing about viruses, politics or anything negative. Just a bunch of our funniest moments so you can take a mental break, laugh and get back to sanity.
The NBA has postponed it's season, the NCAA has decided to play without fans and there is a travel ban for those coming from Europe. A special episode for Tony and Steve to talk about it all along with their implications. From the NBA to colleges to whatever. We tackle the tough conversations but we laugh and laugh hard. And remember, wash your hands!
We started off with Tony talking about his recent trip back to the midwest which involved way too much food, sugar for the first time in almost 3 months and an unexpected surprise. Spike Lee and the Knicks. Really? What in the world are the Knicks doing? Our prayers for the victims of the Molson Coors shooting and the Tornadoes in Nashville. This leads to a discussion about which tornadoes and there natural disasters we've been through. Weren't people washing their hands before the Coronavirus? Y'all are just nasty. Tony reveals that he's not a germaphobe but he is a nastyphobe.
After an unplanned but not totally unexpected hiatus, Tony and Steve have returned, in full force. If you want to know why they were gone, don't worry, it's at the very beginning of the episode. First up, Cleveland Brown's Myles Garrett's indefinite suspension was lifted. Turns out this incident was a trigger for Steve and the conversation took a dramatic turn. We also talked about the NBA All Star game and more importantly, the pregame show. Have you seen the XFL? Tony and Steve have and they're convinced that you should too. A lot of people were upset about the Super Bowl halftime show, so of course we talked about that too. It's good to be back
It's Steve's birthday and Tony was in town so of course we recorded live together. Steve talks about the tornado that went through his neighborhood which reminded Tony of the many tornados he's experienced in his life. Also, Tony talks about his trip to Cleveland which includes his golf outing in which he and his friend were paired up with an absolute lunatic. Then there's sports. Congratulations to the USWNT for their victory. Also Cori "Coco" Gauff for her performance at Wimbledon. Then there's also the crazy few weeks that we call the NBA off season...
Tony and Steve are coming at you live from DC. Steve finds out that you can clear a room by turning on Netflix. Well you can if you turn on the new Wanda Sykes standup special and the room is full of boisterous Trump supporters. Let's just say that they aren't Wanda's target audience. Tony and Steve then share stories of times they were mistaken for being the help. Remember last episode where Steve said that Kevin Durant's injury wasn't his calf but his Achille's. Turns out he was right. Also a big congratulations to the Toronto Raptors who won their first championship. And then there's meetings. You know the completely unnecessary meetings. You know, meetings about meetings.
We have actually hit our 20th episode! Tony and Steve start off talking about the Raptors 3-1 lead over the Warriors. This leads to a conversation about who's stock has gone up the most since the playoff started. Have you heard of professional slapping? It's one of the craziest "sports" we've ever heard of and the superstar of slapping is named Dumpling. They then spend some time tip toeing around the topic of patriotism which in part was initiated by a woodchuck incident with Steve's neighbors.
Tony and Steve take a trip to Virginia Beach for the retirement party of a mutual friend. They reflect on the marine retirement ceremony which was inspiring and enlightening. Unfortunately the ceremony occurred at the exact time as a mass shooting about 6 miles away. Also in this episode, the fishing trip that wasn't and Tony's interaction with a woman who was calling the police on a black man in Harlem.
Steve has a new roommate situation that leads into his girlfriend getting a new best friend. We poorly segway from there to talking about Russell Wilson's monster new contract which he announced while lying in bed with his wife. From there, politics, the NBA and some other random stuff.
This is our first episode, post Steve's surgery. We talk about the surgery and the unexpected results. We also give an update on the NBA playoffs including Damian Lillard's ridiculous game winner against OKC. Somewhere in the middle of all of this, we have a quick discussion about the Easter Bunny that came to the rescue of a woman being attacked. Not to mention, we did also have a discourse about the recent church burnings.
When Steve's roommate gave him the green light to talk about their antics, everything goes crazy. Instead of dealing with all of the world's depressing news Tony and Steve go from insane roommate stories to what happened when Steve worked at a funeral home. Things really go downhill from there as they move on to some of the craziest stories that happened while Tony worked at a church.
Steve's roommate brings home a bag of meat from God knows where. The real question is should he eat some of it? Somehow we make the transition to talking about the worst (and best) concerts we've ever been to. Of course we talked a little about March Madness and then Steve gives a health update with is recent cancer diagnosis.
With all of the current events and the state of our world, Tony and Steve decide to take a break from the funny stuff and have a real, two person conversation about how the news of the college admissions scandal affects them personally. From there, the discussion turns to the terrorist attack in New Zealand along with the global rise of white nationalism. I wish it was funny, but honestly, neither of us were in the mood to be entertaining.
Steve get's a text from his girlfriend and things go south from there. We end up talking about everything from texting to wild animal attacks (including the dude who got half eaten by a whale). We also take a few minutes to talk about SNL's R.Kelly interview skit
I can't believe we're talking about some of this crazy stuff. So some team asked the most inappropriate to a player at the NFL combine. You can't make this stuff up. Also, Mark Meadows decided to parade around Trump's black friend to members of congress to explain why he's not a racist. Lets just say it didn't work. Oh, and then there's the rabbit...
Tony and Steve tackle current events including the arrest of Jussie Smollett along with all of its ensuing drama, Duke's blowout loss to Nike (pun intended) and the NFL's settlement with Colin Kaepernick. Steve also decides to bring up Robert Kraft's solicitation charges which leads to separate rants by both Tony and Steve.
Steve shares a story about how a friend got caught cheating. They also discuss the fallout from the Tim Donaghy scandal.
Tony and Steve discuss the C-Word. Probably not the one you're thinking.
Steve get's invited to a regifting party? What is that? We also talk about James Harden traveling and other random sports stuff.
Steve has some dude spit on his car to fix it and we get into a talk about the new R. Kelly series which neither of us saw.
So Steve's girlfriend had an issue with something that happened over Christmas which led to an interesting conversation. Also, there is a movement of white people trying to come to grips with their racism/biases in a safe environment devoid of diversity. Is this good or bad.
Steve goes to the doctor and everything goes downhill from there.
Tony goes to see Elton John and then a whole bunch of other stuff.
We end up talking about a bunch of random stuff because Steve didn't go to the museum. Mostly music and politics.
If you want to know what this podcast is all about and what to expect, listen to this episode. Two friends talking about life completely unscripted and for the most part, unedited.
