In a revealing interview, Jim is joined by Former NBA Referee Tim Donaghy who speaks intimately about his involvement and conviction in the NBA gambling scandal in 2007. Donaghy compares the current gambling scandal involving Chauncey Billups, Terry Rozier, and Damon Jones to his own in 2007. Donaghy discusses how the rise of legalized sports gambling could lead to more instances of player involvement and ultimately chipping away at the integrity of the game. Donaghy reveals instances of referees holding grudges against certain players, who was the most difficult player to officiate, which coach worked the refs the most, which stadium was the most difficult as a ref, and much more. RJ Bell, Steve Fezzik and Mackenzie Rivers break down everything that happened for NFL Week 8. RJ Bell, Steve Fezzik, and Mackenzie Rivers recap NFL Week 8, beginning with RJ joking about bagels before diving into betting trends. They note that favorites dominated and spreads barely mattered, leaving teasers and parlays heavy on Kansas City exposure. Fezzik observes that this week's final scores were mostly fair reflections, without many misleading results. The trio then shift into a long discussion about gambling integrity, comparing insider sports info to stock-market crimes. RJ argues that injury and lineup leaks are like insider trading and should carry harsh penalties. They cite NBA and college cases—LeBron injury rumors, Billy Walters, trainers leaking info—and imagine coded Twitter “dead drops” for illicit tips. RJ stresses that while some data like “LeBron out” has modest betting value, when players underperform deliberately or fake participation it becomes true corruption. They call for severe lifetime bans for manipulating personal stats, while leaks should draw lighter suspensions. Prop-bet abuse and small limits follow; Fezzik suggests $200 caps to deter fixing. They praise monitoring systems such as U.S. Integrity that now flag irregular betting instantly, citing the caught Alabama baseball coach. RJ says AI and DraftKings-style tracking would have exposed Donaghy within weeks. After that, they pivot to NFL: criticizing Harbaugh and the Ravens' handling of Lamar Jackson's surprise absence, speculating that transparency rules need enforcement. They analyze that game, calling the 30-16 Ravens win a “phony final” where Baltimore overperformed. Next comes Tampa Bay's misleading 22-3 over New Orleans—“ten-three at best,” Fezzik says—before RJ celebrates a same-game-parlay win. They review the Jets-Bengals comeback, noting lucky two-point conversions and that modern analytics justify going for two down eight. They dissect Bills, Giants, Steelers, and Packers games, emphasizing how late-game yardage can distort stats. RJ calls Cincinnati's defense “donezo.” They highlight teams awful versus the run (Giants, Bengals, Ravens) and conclude Pittsburgh's defense is overrated. Green Bay's D, by contrast, grades top five by EPA. The pair debate coaching: RJ says O'Connell is top five but mysteriously poor in night games, while Fezzik defends him. They agree the Vikings' O-line injuries keep them fragile. Closing out, they praise Belichick's Patriots for exposing Cleveland's travel defense, mock Dallas's showboating after Denver's blowout, and observe that great offense vs. great defense matchups often yield one-sided results. The show ends with schedule notes for next week's taping and RJ joking about his underdog pick and podcast timing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Donaghy's old interviews are resurfacing, and his claims about a deeper network of rigged games might finally be coming true. They connect the dots between today's headlines and Donaghy's long-standing warnings, even exploring how this could open up a massive can of worms for the NFL and college sports next. And to close it out, the brothers drop one wild fact, Daniel Jones is getting paid roughly $100,000 per win this season. We hope you enjoy the show! This week Amy dives deep with Breige Donaghy, who shares her journey from food science graduate to Tesco's Director of Product Development & Innovation. She explains the critical differences in retail philosophy between giants like Tesco and community-focused Co-op, and why that breadth of experience shaped the way she leads teams and builds supplier partnerships today.Breige and Amy get hands-on discussing the realities of food development, including why product developers deserve more credit than just being “the fluffy ideas people.” There's a refreshingly open take on the weight (and the privilege) of driving sustainability, health, and resilient supply chains—plus how industry leaders need to wear many hats and adapt fast.Straight-talking as ever, Amy teases out how supplier-retailer relationships are (finally) evolving beyond old-school commercial transactionalism. Breige details exactly what she's looking for from supplier partners: honesty, data-driven thinking, critical friendship, and the guts to challenge the status quo.For those on the supplier side, there's invaluable advice on how to present insight, take calculated risks, and move from merely “delivering projects” to co-creating future food trends. We also peel back the curtain on leadership—Breige shares her people-first approach and why empowering teams (with a signature “20% more” encouragement) is key to success. They conclude with actionable takeaways for anyone seeking to build bolder, braver relationships in the food retail industry. ATU Galway are the Ladies HEC Donaghy Cup champions following an empathic 4-10 to 0-10 victory over Marino in Friday's final (14th March) in Queen's, Belfast. It's their first victory since GMIT's success in 2019 and completed a ladies gaelic games double following ATU Galway's Ashling Murphy Cup camogie victory in February. Manager Ciara Moran and captain Keeva McDonnell took a brief break from the celebrations to join Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' Friday. == The 'Over The Line' weekend preview show with Darren Kelly broadcasts every Friday evening from 7pm on Galway Bay FM.
Amid the uncertainty of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the Brisbane Broncos played the Sydney Roosters in the first round of the NRL season. There were concerns about players being away from their families during this time, but the team was able to return before the cyclone arrived. Brisbane Broncos CEO, Dave Donaghy, told Peter Psatlis on Wide World of Sports, "I suppose we had enough time or a window there where we could get everyone back, which we're very grateful for, that we were able to do that." "So they were able to get everyone back straight after the game, that was pleasing to get everyone home." "We're really grateful that the facility at Red Hill and, more importantly, all our staff, all our players and, all our families are all okay, through this period," Mr Donaghy continued. Yesterday, there was outrage among the family members of the Dolphins after their game was moved to Sydney. Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "We pride ourselves on being a family club, and that's what we're preaching, we're best practice it as well." "We've tried to overcommunicate with our families and ensure they're aware of what they need to do beforehand. The preparation that needs to go into it, but also that they've got the key contact numbers in the event of a real emergency." "Understanding that they've got the support of the club...So I just want to make sure that they know that whilst their loved ones are down in Sydney, playing their trade that they're not alone," Mr Donaghy continued.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Back in 2007 The New York Post dropped a BOMBSHELL story that highlighted the fact that the FBI was investigating an NBA referee for betting on games he was officiating and passing that information to a book working for the the Gambino crime family...and it ROCKED the NBA to it's core.....or did it? This should have shed light on the crooked officiating happing in the NBA up until that point but David Stern and his team were able to deflect this investigation and make Donaghy into a "ROUGUE" actor . Donaghy would later put in a statement that the league would INTENTIONALLY influence the outcome of games and show favoritism to extend playoff series to generate more revenue for the league.....so who's the real bad guy here? Cohosts Sandra and Imman interview former NBA referee Tim Donaghy to discuss his 2007 betting Scandal. This episode was recorded MONTHS & MONTHS (not weeks ago) as part of an ongoing series we want to have, diving into the NBA's 2007 betting Scandal. Tim Donaghy, a former NBA referee from 1994 to 2007, was at the center of a scandal in 2007 when it was revealed that he had been betting on NBA games, including ones he officiated. He pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and received a 15-month prison sentence. The scandal sent shockwaves through the NBA and its fanbase, as it raised concerns about a referee compromising the integrity of the game. But there's a larger story here, one that goes beyond Donaghy. It's a story about the league's overall integrity, from the infamous Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals to the biases allegedly present in the NBA's officiating policies. In our upcoming interview with Tim Donaghy, he shares his criticisms of the NBA's officiating and asserts that the league is biased toward certain teams and players. He claims that that is how he picked winners in his bets. However, it's important to note that despite his claims, and the claims of the NBA that there is no evidence of Donaghy betting on his games, many do believe that he allegedly did. We acknowledge the doubts about his credibility, and we approach this conversation as part of a larger series. Our interview aims to unravel the complexities of the scandal and gain a comprehensive understanding of the NBA, its systems, and the delicate balance between competition and integrity. This is not an endorsement of Donaghy's claims but an exploration of a piece of the larger story. Again, this episode is part of a broader series that dives deeper into the NBA's biggest off-court stories. In the final episode, we'll interview Tim Livingston from the hit podcast series "Whistleblower." So get ready for an intriguing discussion, where we not only explore the scandal but also have some fun talking with a referee. Plus, we'll pick Donaghy's brain about the NBA's embrace of gambling in 2023 and his thoughts on the steps the league has taken to prevent future scandals. Learn more about your ad choices. Whether it's insider trading or nepo babies, people usually have an issue with others using exclusive privileges for personal gain. But in the world of sports betting, profiting from inside information isn't just frowned upon - for officials, it's actually illegal. And yet that didn't stop a certain NBA referee from doing just that, and causing one of the biggest scandals yet in the basketball league's history.Ray teaches Rob about NBA referee Tim Donaghy and his illicit gambling scheme; how Jimmy Battista and his group of professional gamblers known as “The Animals” found out about Donaghy's thrift, and used it for their own gain; why Ray is glad he's never gotten into gambling; how the FBI eventually caught on to Donaghy's and Battista's machinations; and why the NBA's response to the accusations against Tim Donaghy may have indicated that it wasn't just Tim who was part of some fishy business… If you like what we are doing, please support us on Patreon.TEAMRay HebelRobert W. The relationship between autism and pain sensitivity is something that we have not covered in this show, mainly because it's also a relatively new area in pain literature. How does pain management look like in cases where communication might be a challenge? Bethany Donaghy, MSc, BSc And Michelle Failla, PhD join Dr. Joe Tatta in this episode to explain. Dr. Failla is Research Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University whose research focuses on understanding the role of social communication in pain responses and management. Bethany is an autistic PhD student at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. Her current PhD project explores pain in autistic children and young people. Tune in and listen to the insights of two trailblazers in this emerging field. Here are some links for two papers and a review on pain in autism: • Increased pain sensitivity and pain-related anxiety in individuals with autism - PubMed (nih.gov) • Initially intact neural responses to pain in autism are diminished during sustained pain - PubMed (nih.gov) • Acute pain experience in individuals with autism spectrum disorders: a review - PubMed (nih.gov) Michelle Failla's website: Michelle Failla | The Ohio State University College of Nursing (osu.edu) If you have a need in the future, Michelle's other line of work is in pain in Alzheimer's Disease, and she works with a number of people trying to understand pain perception and differences in dementia. If that's ever of interest to you and your podcast, reach out and Michelle can connect you with some great people in that work.
