IN this week's Dogsthorpe Infant School podcast, Cap'n Dave and Eddie meet Cristina and Julia from Peterborough City Council.  They work with families and schools across the city to encourage everyone in the city to recycle or upcycle their waste and household items they no longer use.  We all know that we should do more but it's so easy to just throw thing in the waste bin instead of the recycle bin. But do you know which item goes into which bin? What items cannot go into our green bins? What should we do with batteries that have run out of power and cannot be recharged?  In this podcast Cristina and Julia take us through the details of how we can do more and offer us resorces and advice. It's a Family Matters episode so Eddie, Captain Dave and parenting and families expert, Sue Atkins discuss resources for dealing with conflict at home and in school. Disagreements between partners, parents and children in a family is normal and natural but it's HOW we handle conflict and disagreements that's important! Sometimes you can sort disagreements and flash points out quickly. At other times, it can be hard work finding solutions. Conflict can range from disagreements that you can't sort out & can be strong verbal arguments to physical fights. Conflict can also be uncomfortable silence, anger, and hostility. Conflict happens. The important thing is how you handle it. When we ‘talk and teach' our kids about being kind, speaking with respect despite our differences, and working as a family ‘team' everyone is likely to feel more positive, happy, and supported.
