In the same way, we focus on hitting the ball from gap to gap we want to focus on what is important for the diamond athlete, parent, and coach. College Coaches will be the primary target for guests but Holly will also have High School and Middle School Coaches, Professional Players, Administrators and everywhere in between. The goal is to get to know the person better and then get to know about the team, school or organization of which they represent. It will be a ton of fun and some great information along with some inspiration along the way. We hope you join us and feel free to contact us. Oh yeah, don't forget to subscribe!
You can play on a travel team and spend thousands of dollars. You can play every year since you were 5 and you can take lessons every week but eventually, your success will be based on that time you spend working hard on your craft. In the heat and the cold. Inside or outside. Fancy equipment or not. It doesn't matter. It is the work you do on your own that matters! It is hard and it takes away from your tv time or friends time or social media. It is lonely and it can be boring but without it, you can't truly achieve those dreams you have down deep inside you. Does hard work guarantee success? Not at all, but the lack of it will certainly contribute to your lack of success. It is YOUR responsibility. your work your dream. You find a way to do the work it takes to succeed!

I have heard this phrase often and as recent as yesterday from someone teaching a hitter to "take her hands to the ball". I think most of us that teach hitting understand what this person is trying to say (I hope) but it is really not what we want to do with our hands in hitting. Let me explain in this short podcast.
I get it, most of you don't have a lot of time during practice to teach everything and there is a lot to teach but during the game instruction is usually ineffective at best and distracting at worst. I wrote a blog about this a few years ago if you want to read it. https://www.diamondacademyblog.com/2018/06/coaches-tip-during-game-instruction.html More information about the NFA Virtual Academy: https://www.nationalfastpitchacademy.com/virtual-academy
I say often, "Well, we did pick an outdoor sport that is played in the summer". This is true but it can get really hot. How do we best prepare and can you prepare? Yes, the good news is that we can prepare to participate in the heat. I will talk about the three things we need to know to participate in the heat. FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE TO ASK QUESTIONS OR MAKE COMMENTS Shonda has a very impressive record of winning programs everywhere she has played as well as coached. In her playing days at UNC Greensboro, they won back-to-back Big South Conference Championships. Her winning ways started early in her career at Ashland University as a graduate assistant where they set the record for the most wins. Quickly, she moved to the head coaching world at IUPUI with a 27-25 record and then to a very successful career at Marshal University of 18 years with 560-430-2 record. Coach Stanton took the head coaching job at Indiana University in 2017 and then after a slow 2018 season, took the Hoosiers to a 36-21 record. Then, the IU softball team was on their way to another good season with a 12-9 record before the pandemic stopped all softball. We are pleased to have Shonda as our guest on our Gap to Gap show as we will get to know more about her, the IU program and just some general softball talk including what changes she is making, or will make, due to the pandemic. The show will begin at noon easter time on Monday May 4th.
