Who will be in charge of the Steelers draft? Poni thinks Mike Tomlin wants to be in charge. Poni still has left tackle as his number one need. Is it smart for the Steelers to keep Mitch Trubisky around at his cap hit? Omar Khan said he will be more aggressive as Steelers GM than what we've seen in the past – do you believe that? It also seems like the front office is high on Calvin Austin as the team's third WR. Should Pitt hoops be a lock for the NCAA Tournament, despite what most of the experts say? Poni and Donny are going to a Horizon League game tonight between Robert Morris and IUPUI. And Donny had a funny story from St. Vincent over the weekend with a monk cutting down the nets.

(00:00 - 21:22) - Jake informs Marc that Professional wrestling is fake. The St. Louis Battle Hawks defeated the Seattle Sea Dragons in their XFL matchup last night. The XFL's rule changes are seemingly fun to watch even if it isn't considered to be top-tier talent in the league. Despite the loss, the Pacers game last night against the Boston Celtics was a fun one to watch. This is a big weekend for college basketball, including IU vs. Purdue. IUPUI defeated Robert Morris, snapping a four game losing streak. Aaron Rodgers is becoming more of a burden off the field compared to helpful on the field. (21:23 - 29:36) - Morning Checkdown (29:37 - 47:44) - Alan Karpick of the On3 Network as well as GoldandBlack.com joins the program to talk about the big matchup with IU coming up in West Lafayette this Saturday. Karpick starts off by talking about what a week off for the Boilermakers basketball team could mean in this matchup. He views it as a new positive to reset and rest the team before a rough schedule. A win over IU this weekend paves the way for Purdue to win the Big Ten Championship. Will Mason Gillis get significant playing time against the Hoosiers? Karpick believes that Purdue can finish the season strong once they manage to control the ball better and mitigate turnovers. What teams could possibly give Purdue a hard time in the Big 10 or NCAA tournament? (47:45 - 1:11:05) - From one guest right into another as Greg Rakestraw calls in to talk about the IHSAA girls' basketball tournament going on right now. Rakestraw stresses the special moments that come from these tournaments and how both students and parents will form these lifelong memories that stick with them for life. The 1A and 3A finals are being played between teams that are next door neighbors making for heavy rivalries in these championship games. Marc transitions to the conversation to IU and Purdue happening on Saturday. Will Ball State make the NCAA tournament? Conversation closes with some Colts talk as Bubba Ventrone has officially departs for Cleveland. Rakestraw would have liked for the Colts to keep him, but understands that the primary issue is still with the Colts roster. (1:11:06 - 1:31:54) - More Colts talk regarding the draft. When Jim Irsay said he liked the "Alabama Guy" did he mean Bryce Young, or another Alabama player? The bad news about being #1 going into the combine is that everyone is looking for a reason to make sure you are not that person anymore. C.J. Stroud and Will Levis could suddenly become huge names due to scrutiny that Bryce Young will face from the combine. Receivers are going to start selling like hotcakes around pick number 15. The Colts can't risk drafting an Ohio State player due to their history of bad luck with them. Would Arizona be willing to trade out in order to get more picks and acquire more depth. (1:31:55 - 1:35:28) - Seinfeld talk and a quick tease of the upcoming Don Fischer interview. (1:35:29 - 2:00:35) - Voice of the Hoosiers Don Fischer joins Jake and Marc to give another side of the IU vs. Purdue matchup taking place this Saturday. Jake wants to know if the Hoosiers can plug Xavier Johnson back in after injury and if he can pick up where he left off. Fischer believes that Johnson's absence has been their primary missing piece defensively. Regardless, Johnson likely will not be back for the Purdue game and is slated to possibly be available for the future Iowa matchup. Trace Jackson-Davis may not be as tired as people think he is and just had a rough night against Michigan. Jake wants to know if any type of team is IU's kryptonite. Fischer believes that it is just the consistency of the players that has lead to the Hoosier's shortcomings this season. IU's track record at home is amazing with only one loss this season but they are away at Purdue where they have struggled this year.(2:00:36 - 2:11:17) - Pop Quiz. (2:11:18 - 2:25:04) - A little extra trivia as Jake reveals New Jersey is the only state with a non-public university that uses the state in its name. Universities now have robots delivering food on campus. Weekend plans, Jake is going to Kansas, Marc is going to Chicago.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(0:00-16:45) Greg Rakestraw of the ISC Sports Network joins the show to first further the musical education of the listeners before turning his attention to a late tip off for the Indiana Hoosiers this evening. JMV and Rake preview the matchup, talk about IU's current form and where more 3-point shooting might come from. Then, the conversation turns to the Butler Bulldogs and if this season's struggles are just about one bad year or a foreshadowing of things to come. What about IUPUI? What is the status of the program right now and what's the path to get more talent in the building? Including Indiana State, Rake discusses how mid major coaches are finding talent where others aren't looking. John and Greg conclude with sectional action in high school hoops. (16:45-38:33) Jason Belmonte, the No. 1 bowler in the PBA, joins the show to discuss his favorite Australian band before discussing the 2023 U.S. Open happening in Indianapolis at Royal Pin Woodland. Jason discusses how he compares himself to some of the best to ever do it and his place in the history of the game. Belmonte and JMV talk about the growth of the sport, access to bowling information and his parents' decision to build a bowling alley changing his life. Naturally, the conversation turns to his two-handed approach, it's origin and other successful players who have gone that route. The conversation concludes with Belmonte's bowling heroes and a few stories from his time in bowling. (38:33-56:29) ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks joins the show to discuss the Myles Turner extension and what it means for both him and the Pacers. Can Myles still be traded? Yes, but Bobby says an extension followed by a trade that fast would be unprecedented. Does this outcome workout better for the Pacers than the result had DeAndre Ayton arrived in Indiana over the summer? JMV and Bobby discuss the premise that Indiana is the best fit in the NBA for Myles Turner. Is anyone better for him than Haliburton? Then, the discussion turns to the ultimate value of Haliburton when it times to pay him, what type of movement – if any – the Pacers will have at the deadline and what Buddy Hield is worth. The discussion ends with news and moves from around the league and how the NBA thinks about Trayce Jackson-Davis and Zach Edey.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
(0:00-27:32) The Ride with JMV is rolling on a Tuesday afternoon. John opens the show with the news that Tyrese Haliburton could be back against the Lakers on Thursday night. The Indiana Hoosiers are on the road to take on Maryland tonight in a tough environment. JMV touches on Purdue, their freshman and what makes them ready for big moments in the Big Ten. Kevin Willard says that he thinks Trayce Jackson-Davis is the best player in the country. Just coach speech? JMV discusses the rest of the Indiana roster and finding things to lean on other than TJD. John then sets up the rest of the show, setting the lineup of guests, and talks about Frank Reich's introductory press conference in Carolina. That leads to a conversation about the extensive Colts head coaching search. (27:32-45:14) Greg Rakestraw of the ISC Sports Network joins the show to first further the musical education of the listeners before turning his attention to a late tip off for the Indiana Hoosiers this evening. JMV and Rake preview the matchup, talk about IU's current form and where more 3-point shooting might come from. Including Indiana State, Rake discusses how mid major coaches are finding talent where others aren't looking. John and Greg conclude with sectional action in high school hoops. (45:14-48:21) JMV puts the finishing touches on hour one. (48:21-1:13:52) To kick off the second hour, Jason Belmonte, the No. 1 bowler in the PBA, joins the show to discuss his favorite Australian band before discussing the 2023 U.S. Open happening in Indianapolis at Royal Pin Woodland. Jason discusses how he compares himself to some of the best to ever do it and his place in the history of the game. Naturally, the conversation turns to his two-handed approach, it's origin and other successful players who have gone that route. The conversation concludes with Belmonte's bowling heroes and a few stories from his time in bowling. Then, John breaks the news of Sean Payton heading to Denver and DeMeco Ryans going to Houston. (1:13:52-1:29:11) In the middle of the second hour, JMV continues the head coach discussion and a Jim Irsay reaction to a bit done by Joey Mulinaro about the owner and Jeff Saturday. Is there anything anyone can do to pull Irsay out of Saturday's corner? JMV talks about the idea of a petition for Saturday to not be the head coach and what kind of reaction Irsay might have to it. Should Colts fans take stock in Peyton Manning vouches at this point? (1:29:11-1:37:35) JMV wraps up the second hour with the Lounge on YouTube and phone calls about the coaching search. (1:37:35-2:03:38) JMV goes back to the phone lines to kick off the final hour. Colts quarterback is the topic of conversation. Does it make sense to bulk up at other positions this year in the draft and go after a quarterback in 2024? John returns to the newest coaching hire news of the day. With the hiring of Sean Payton and DeMeco Ryans, the Colts and Cardinals are the only two teams left without a head coach. The segment ends with more callers. (2:03:38-2:22:15) ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks joins the show to discuss the Myles Turner extension and what it means for both him and the Pacers. Can Myles still be traded? Celebrated jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery was born 100 years ago in Indianapolis and spent much of his career here, recording and performing on Indiana Avenue, sometimes with his brothers and often with some of the greatest jazz, soul and even pop musicians of his generation. Montgomery died in 1968 at just 45 years old. But during his relatively short career, he won two Grammy Awards and was routinely selected as the top guitarist in Down Beat magazine polls, five times by critics in the 1960s and four times by readers. We're turning today's episode of the podcast over to IBJ arts writer Dave Lindquist for an exploration of the ways that Wes Montgomery was an innovator of jazz guitar, why fellow guitarists continue to find inspiration in his playing 55 years after his death and how he was one of many world-class musicians to emerge from the Indiana Avenue jazz scene in the 1940s and '50s. Joining Dave for the conversation are Rob Dixon, a saxophone player and artistic director of the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation. And Lasana Kazembe, a poet, teaching artist and assistant professor of education at IUPUI. Rob and Lasana will celebrate Montgomery's legacy during a May 13 special event at The Cabaret, where Kazembe serves as the venue's first artist in residence. The event is titled “In Our Own Sweet Way: Honoring the Artistic Legacy of Wes Montgomery.” The IBJ Podcast is brought to you by Taft.

Jealousy is an emotion that everyone has experienced at one time or another, but if not controlled jealousy could lead to other feelings and actions such as embarrassment, depression, codependency, low self-esteem, or even anger. But with jealousy being such an innate emotion, how does one turn it off or use it for good? J.R. Jamison explores that question as he shares the story of two women in East-Central Indiana who lost friends to jealousy. Later, he is joined by Dr. Bob Bringle, Chancellor's Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Philanthropic Studies at IUPUI, and a widely-known expert on jealousy in close relationships.
