It's US Open lead-up week, which can only mean one thing… Mixed Doubles madness! But that's not all — Cincinnati once again proved brutal, delivering one of the toughest two-week stretches on tour as players battled the sweltering Ohio heat and a wave of retirements. Jannik Sinner's sudden illness handed Carlos Alcaraz his first Cincy crown, while Iga Swiatek overpowered Jasmine Paolini to reclaim the World No. 2 spot. Frenchman (and massive Pokémon fan) Terence Atmane enjoyed a dream run to the semi-finals, and Elena Rybakina put on a clinic against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, with coach Stefano Vukov now officially back on tour.We also dive into our first impressions of the revamped Mixed Doubles at Flushing Meadows — unpredictable, intriguing, and highlighted by a must-watch showdown between Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz versus Jack Draper and doubles-singles supremo Jessica Pegula. Elsewhere, Venus Williams was handed a wildcard which makes her the oldest ever singles entrant in 44 years at 45 years old, while we look ahead to the final pre–US Open events in Winston-Salem, Monterrey, and Cleveland's Tennis in the Land - with Joel really not sure why there are 500 events in Mexico just before the fourth and final major gets underway in New York. And don't forget — we're back on Thursday with our US Open Draw Preview, featuring bold predictions, quarter-by-quarter analysis, and the return of Collect-a-Set!SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. You shouldn't have to choose between showing up for your job and showing up for your family and loved ones. Caregiving is a growing part of modern work life — and it's largely invisible. In today's episode of Hello Monday, host Jessi Hempel talks with Jennifer Levin, author of Generation Care, about what it means to care for others while juggling a career, and how we can better support caregivers at work and beyond. Jennifer began caregiving for her chronically ill father in her early thirties, long before her peers were navigating similar responsibilities. Struck by how few people were talking about it, she created Caregiver Collective, a Facebook group for Millennial and Gen X caregivers. Her new book, gives voice to a generation of caretakers, and confronts the increasingly urgent crisis of caretaking in the U.S. Jessi and Jennifer discuss: • The emotional toll of caregiving and why so many of us feel alone in it • Why caregiving should be treated as real, valuable work • How to support colleagues who are quietly balancing care responsibilities • Why policy change must recognize caregiving as core to the future of work • How managers and leaders can create cultures that acknowledge and support caregiving • The power of talking about caregiving — with friends, with employers, and in public This episode is for anyone who's ever whispered, I'm sandwiching today. Whether you're deep in it now or likely to take on a caregiving role in the future, this conversation offers clarity, comfort, and community. Continue the conversation at Hello Monday Office Hours. Join Jessi and Senior Producer Sarah Storm this Wednesday at 3PM ET on the LinkedIn News page to talk about caregiving, trade-offs, and what support really looks like in today's workplace.

After the success of M3GAN, Allison Williams didn't quite fear the stress of doing a sequel. “How lucky are we that we get to do this again? Because it's a dream job.” In M3GAN 2.0 (June 27), we meet Gemma (Williams) and Cady (Violet McGraw) two years after M3GAN, a lifelike robot doll, turned on the humans she was meant to obey. This time she's back, but she's not the only robot doll out for revenge. “One of the great honors of doing a sequel is that the tone is established. People know her vibe. They know who she is and what to expect from her.” And what they can expect this go-around is that it will be unhinged in the best of ways. “They will always be ridiculous in a way: The titular character of the franchise is a robot with a blowout and a gorgeous smoky eye and a wardrobe full of new costumes.” One thing this franchise did ultimately do for Williams is change how she approaches technology. “A Waymo that I get out of, or like our robot vacuum, I'm always like, ‘Thank you so much. Don't kill me someday. Thank you for your work. I'm grateful.'” [laughs] See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

My newsletter: https://simonowens.substack.com/ Of all the media outlets to have launched in the last decade, Morning Brew has had one of the most impressive growth trajectories. Not only did it build its main newsletter to millions of subscribers, but it also spun off multiple B2B niche verticals and has had enormous success on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. So it's not surprising that when three of its early employees left to launch their own media company, there were plenty of high profile creators eager to work with them. Under the banner of Smooth Media Creative Holdings, these alums have built out an influencer marketing agency and also their own niche outlets. In a recent interview, co-founder Josh Kaplan delved deeper into Smooth Media's strategy, explained how it works with big YouTubers, and discussed why the company decided to acquire a 30-year-old B2B media brand.
We're throwing back to a conversation we had in 2020 with Jason Rezaian, Iranian American journalist who had been previously jailed in Iran. Back in January of 2020, the first Trump administration carried out a military operation killing Qassem Soleimani, an Iranian military commander. Now, the second Trump administration is striking Iranian nuclear sites. While lots has changed since 2020, much of our conversation with Jason is still eerily relevant.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
The ayatollahs who have ruled Iran since 1979 have long promised to destroy the Jewish state, and had even set a deadline for it. While arming proxies to fight Israel—Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, and more—Iran is believed to have sought to develop nuclear weapons for itself. “The big question about Iran was always: how significant is its apocalyptic theology?” Yossi Klein Halevi explains to David Remnick. “How central is that end-times vision to the Iranian regime? And is there a possibility that the regime would see a nuclear weapon as the way of furthering their messianic vision?” Halevi is a journalist and senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, and he co-hosts the podcast “For Heaven's Sake.” He is a fierce critic of Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, “I have no doubt that he is capable of starting a war for his own political needs.” And yet Netanyahu was right to strike Iran, no matter the consequences, Halevi asserts. “The Israeli perspective is not . . . the American war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's our own experience.”New episodes of The New Yorker Radio Hour drop every Tuesday and Friday. Iran said on Monday it has expanded the range of legitimate targets for its armed forces after the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, said, “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.”The State Department has issued a “worldwide caution” for U.S. citizens living abroad. In a Sunday alert, the department warned of potential demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests around the world. “The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East,” the bulletin stated, as it called on U.S. citizens worldwide to exercise “increased caution.”Israel hit Iranian government targets in Tehran on Monday in a series of strikes. The attack came after Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel. Israel's Defense Ministry said it hit targets that included the notorious Evin Prison in the Iranian capital and the security headquarters of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guards. The Israeli military also confirmed it struck roads around Iran's Fordow enrichment facility to obstruct access to the site.

Early Friday local time, Israel finally did what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been threatening to do for years: It launched a massive attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, killing top military commanders, nuclear scientists and — according to Iran — dozens of Iranian civilians. The attacks have once again plunged the volatile region into uncharted waters. NPR correspondent Hadeel al-Shalchi in Tel Aviv and NPR's National Security Correspondent Greg Myre discuss what this could mean for the region and for U.S. hopes of a deal limiting Iran's nuclear program. For sponsor-free episodes of Consider This, sign up for Consider This+ via Apple Podcasts or at plus.npr.org.
