Today Jess & Hil chat with Grace. She is an accountant and spent years helping people file their income taxes and is here to give you some basic, easy to comprehend info on how to deal with your taxes. Our biggest takeaway is, the IRS wants it's money and they will get it somehow and if you do everything honestly and as properly as you can, you will be OK. From what paperwork is important to remember when filing or meeting with your accountant to what might get you flagged for an audit to some options on how to report income from you side hustle, we cover it all. The goal is to make you feel empowered to face this one very daunting (and annoying) thing that we all deal with!Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/getyourshit2getherpodcast/ Email: mailto:getyourshit2getherpodcast@gmail.com

We discuss what burnout is and what is looks like, our own experiences working in health care during the pandemic and some tips to keep yourself safe and feeling OK after all that we have seen over the last year. We want to tell others, however you are feeling.. you are not alone. We have all cried or dreaded our shift or felt like a failure or wondered if we were strong enough to handle what we were dealing with. All of that is normal (not normal because no one should have to feel this way, but a shared experience at least). Here are some links to the tiktoks we mentioned, the headspace discount for haealthcare workers and the two articles we referenced in todays episode.Email: mailto:getyourshit2getherpodcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/getyourshit2getherpodcast/TikTok Nurse:https://bit.ly/3f9wR3OTikTok Nurse 2: https://bit.ly/3cYQGrPHeadspace discount code: https://www.headspace.com/health-covid-19https://www.providence.org/news/uf/625195886https://www.healthcarefinancenews.com/news/healthcare-workers-experiencing-burnout-stress-due-covid-19-pandemic

Happy International Women's Day! And CHEERS to friendships (near and far)Today Jess & Hil talk about making friends as an adult. We all know this can be a major challenge NEVERMIND a full year of quarantine and not being able to be around other people. It can be lonely and frustrating. We have both uprooted ourselves and moved to new cities and managed to find "our people" and we did it in a variety of different ways. From putting ourselves out there on BumbleBFF, to going to the same workout class all the time, to volunteering with local businesses to finding niche groups on facebook or meetup to just saying hi to a neighbor. We chat about our experiences that worked and didn't work and would love to hear what others have done to make friends when they are not built in by school or work or someone you grew up next door to. Today we speak with Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Midwife, Karyn Blanchard. Not only does she provide professional medical expertise on the subject, she has personally gone through fertility issues and wants to share her insight, compassion, empathy and knowledge with the world. Whether you're trying to get pregnant, want to in the future, have a friends going through fertility issues or just want some deeper insight into what individuals or couples go through when deciding and working towards growing their family, this episode has something for everyone. Doing these things takes a lot of patience, mental and physical strength, organization and having your shit together mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, logistically and there's much more that goes into it than most of think. We hope this helps!Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/getyourshit2getherpodcast/Email: mailto:getyourshit2getherpodcast@gmail.com
Today Jess & Hil talk about getting your shit together by taking care of yourself. And this doesn't mean just getting a massage and taking a bath (although those ARE great options). To be able to be your best self and get and keep your other shit together (home, job, kids, finances, spouses, body, and 9 million other things) you gotta take care of yourself. If that means throwing away a pair of jeans you've held onto in the hopes that they will fit again but they really make you feel like shit, GET RID OF EM! If you see someone on social media every day that makes you feel less than or upset, UNFOLLOW! If you're so tired at the end of the day that you can't even find it in you to brush your teeth or wash your face.. THAT'S FINE (or try to give yourself 5 minutes of free time to do these things!) We want to hear from you, what is your version of self care?
Today we are interviewing Jessica's real life husband and also affectionately known around town as “the neighborhood husband”, Tyler Garrity. He is known as the neighborhood husband as he has been known to be called for a variety of household issues, questions, installations, repairs, what to do when your house gets struck by lightning etc. We have both been his apprentice on a few of these jobs and have learned quite a bit from him. We dive into how to become an electrician and the important roles and opportunities in the trades. We discuss basic homeownership tools to have on hand and go over a few things he asks you NEVER try to do on your own. Jess & Hil talk money 101. They encourage you to get your shit together by facing your money stuff. Take a look at your income, take a look at your expenses. Think about your long term goals. We know it isn't fun but it is necessary. We discuss the ways we track our spending and places we get information and inspiration.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/getyourshit2getherpodcast/Email: mailto:getyourshit2getherpodcast@gmail.com
We LOVE our to do lists. We live by them. We all know how good it feels to check or cross something off your to do list. Today Jess & Hil dive into 5 types of to do lists. We discuss the "High 5", the 'ABC Method", the "Eisenhower Box" and how a shared to do list with your spouse/family/friends can be a super helpful way to share information between 2 or more people. We open it up to creative people to make a bullet journal or share with us how you live without a to do list! We would love to hear your insight, have you tried these methods? What works best for you? Have you tried any and hated them? Tag us in a picture of your to do list. We are NOT experts. We are just two people who others seem to come to for advice or who somehow show the world that we have our shit together. For the most part we do but there are certainly times when we don't (when I have a giant pile of unfolded laundry, when my anxiety stops me from making a big financial decision or write an important email). We are hoping to share some of the things we do that seem to work well for us and we want to hear from others what makes them feel like they do or do not have their shit together and what can be done to make life easier for all of us. In this episode we introduce ourselves, share our top 5 things we love or do to keep our shit together and discuss upcoming deep dives we will get into to help you Get and Keep you shit together!
