In this episode of Yahweh's Money, we're getting candid about something that affects all of us: comparison. Shay Cook welcomes powerhouse entrepreneur and coach Dr. Johnetta Thurston for a soul-stirring conversation about identity, finances, and faith in the age of the algorithm.Shay and Dr. Johnetta open up about the silent weight of social pressure, how spiritual alignment helps resist financial distraction, and what true contentment looks like in a world obsessed with more.If you've ever scrolled through social media and felt like you're behind—or wondered why your blessings feel delayed—this episode will remind you that God's timing is never late, and your path is yours alone. Here's what you'll walk away with:Why comparison is the enemy of stewardship—and how to break free from it.The hidden financial and emotional cost of “keeping up.”Biblical truths about success, obedience, and God's timing.Real talk on solopreneurship, burnout, and defining your own version of success. How contentment and legacy are more powerful than luxury.Featured Scripture:Galatians 6:4-5 – “Each one should test their own actions... without comparing themselves to someone else.”Proverbs 22:7 – “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.”Philippians 4:6 – “Be anxious for nothing…”Luke 14:28 – “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost…”Action Step:Audit your digital space this week.Unfollow or mute three accounts that spark comparison or discontent. Then follow three accounts that nourish your faith, finances, and well-being.Final Word:Comparison can bankrupt your peace. But when you stay rooted in your purpose and focused on your own lane, God can do the work of multiplying your seed in due season. Trust His timeline. Your breakthrough doesn't need a filter—it needs faith.Connect with Dr. Johnetta here:Website: https://www.jdamanagementandconsulting.com/Send us a text
Let's talk about the propaganda I'm gladly falling for: slow mornings, using what I already have, watching the same comfort shows on repeat, and logging the hell out when social media starts draining me.In this episode, I'm breaking down what a digital detox really looks like — and no, it's not just going off the grid and sitting in silence (though that sounds lovely too). It's about reclaiming your peace, unfollowing the influencers who make you question your timeline, and finally asking: “What do I actually need right now?”I'm sharing what I've been detoxing from lately — consumerism, aesthetic overload, comparison culture, and people who don't make me feel like myself. Plus, real things you can do instead of doom-scrolling your way into a breakdown. If you've been feeling overstimulated, over-connected, or just over it... this one's for you._If this episode hit home, I'd love for you to stick around.
When child influencers try to escape the spotlight, not everyone lets them walk away quietly. In Episode 3 of Bad Influence, Tiffany lashes out at kids who leave her “Squad,” but a shocking lawsuit soon exposes something much bigger—sparking an FBI investigation. We dig into the dangers of kidfluencing, how young creators can be exploited for profit, and what it will really take to protect children in the influencer industry. Sometimes leadership comes with tough choices, and yes, that includes hitting “mute” or “unfollow” on social media when a team member leaves your salon. In this episode, I'm getting real about why protecting your energy isn't pettiness- it's self-care, boundaries, and emotional maturity. If you've ever felt that gut-punch when someone moves on from your team, this episode gives you permission to do what's best for YOU while continuing to grow as a leader. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Why I mute or unfollow former team members: Protecting your energy isn't about bitterness it's about healing and growth. How to handle the emotions: It's okay to hurt, but still do what's best for your mental and emotional health.Boundaries as self-respect: Social media doesn't need to control your peace. The truth about social media vs. real life: Seeing every move someone makes doesn't mean it serves you.Permission to take intentional space: This isn't permanent- do what's right for you without explanations. This isn't about pettiness- it's about presence, purpose, and peace. Your role as a leader is to stay grounded. Sometimes that means stepping back and putting yourself first. Mute the noise, protect your peace, and never apologize for doing what keeps your heart steady and your eyes forward.Follow us on social!Instagram: @lacey_geboFacebook: The New Era of Assistant Training

What you see on social media can stand in your way of being shamelessly sexy. Here's what to do about it.Short Answer ⏰Comparing yourself to others on social media creates a shame spiral that traps you in four ways: expectation, comparison, striving, and validation. To counteract this, change your media diet (follow fewer accounts that make you feel terrible, and more accounts that make you feel good), reflect on what exactly you are jealous of in a post so you can take action to make it happen, and consider taking a social media break altogether.Longer Answer

Navigating Anxiety Caused by Social Media: Finding Faith and Resilience Social media can be considered both a blessing and a curse. For many people, especially the younger generation, anxiety caused by social media has become a growing issue. To figure out how to find balance in interacting with social media, you need to turn to your faith. The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health Though designed to connect us, social media often does the opposite. The constant comparison to others' highlight reels can easily lead to anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. When you scroll through endless feeds, turning off your brain, you absorb content without truly processing it. In this state, you're not filtering what is true and what is false. Without mindful engagement, social media can become a source of stress rather than a tool for connection. Faith as a Source of Strength Leaning into your faith can be so helpful in combating anxiety caused by social media. Reading scripture and immersing ourselves in God's word provides true comfort. Scripture reminds us that our worth is not defined by likes or followers but by our relationship with God. Strategies to Limit Anxiety Caused by Social Media For those who want to engage more responsibly with social media, follow these strategies: Curate Your Feed: Follow accounts that inspire positivity and align with your values. Unfollow accounts that evoke feelings of inadequacy or negativity. Engage with Faith-Based Content Do Devotions: Start or end the day with a devotional or scripture reading. This practice can help center your thoughts and provide a faith-driven perspective on daily challenges. Seeking Professional Help Faith is a powerful tool, but sometimes, it's necessary to seek additional support. If the anxiety feels overwhelming, reaching out to a mental health professional can provide you with valuable guidance. Therapy, counseling, or even medication may be necessary to restore emotional balance and ensure you're on a healthy path. About Whitney Lowe Whitney Lowe is a Christian influencer who wants to see young women excited about God's work: in the Bible, in history, in the world, and in them. She writes and creates on Instagram @ScribbleDevos, a project born from the realization that young women simply do not interact with the Bible enough to be changed by its truth. Whitney is passionate about disrupting the toxic scroll of social media with hope, peace, and light straight from Scripture. She lives in Denver, Colorado, with her husband, who is a pastor, and their two young children. David Waldman and Greg Dworkin return to today's KITM. You didn't think ever miss this, did you? For those of you keeping a tally, Donald K. Trump also does not understand what the word “beautiful” means. The stock market continues to crash here and around the world. There was that moment when people became insane enough to believe that Trump might have suddenly become sane, but then another Trillion bucks went away forever, and reality snapped back. This is an economic catastrophe orchestrated by Republicans, but one they don't know how, don't care how, and are afraid to fix. Follow Lawrence H. Summers on Blue Sky. (Unfollow him anywhere else.) All of this FAFO will be just the medicine MAGA needs. Trump will crash the economy and thus all of his support. Silicon Valley and Wall Street are shocked that their boy would do this to them. So are all of those regular folk in rural, red… Ok, maybe don't expect a “wave of woke” to roar across America awfully soon. After all, the White House is fighting the return of an immigrant that they admit they kidnapped and disposed of in El Salvador. They'd rather send their own lawyer, who confessed to the crime down there, to join him. 60 Minutes found no criminal record for 75% of the Venezuelan migrants sent to El Salvador. A guy who left Mexico at 4 years old, got married and had kids was finally caught and deported when he visited his grandfather's grave. Who out there can save us from this horrific tragedy? Well, let me check the roster and see who's scheduled… Oh yes, it's you, right on the top of the list again.

Today, we are diving into a topic I haven't talked about much lately: Body Image. I know this is a topic that we need to continue to come back to time and time again as SO many of us struggle with it. And honestly, for many of us, it's something we're going to constantly have to work on and that's okay! So if you have been looking in the mirror and felt less than, if you've been picking apart your body instead of appreciating it, or if you've been thinking, “I'll feel better when I lose five pounds,” this episode is for YOU. What I discuss: The mirror is not reality – Your perception is distorted by emotions. AND you need to stop body checking. Rewrite the narrative of your “flaws” – Your body is not an object, it's an experience. Social media is warping your perception – Unfollow anything that makes you feel “less than.” Stop using your body as a before and after – You are so much more than a number on a scale. Your body is the least interesting thing about you – Who you ARE is what people truly love. If you want more from me, be sure to check out...
