If you travel for work, attend events, speak on stages, record content, or represent your company, this episode is for you. In this behind-the-scenes conversation, I'm sharing what really goes into styling clients for media appearances, galas, and corporate events — and why intentional wardrobe planning isn't about shopping… it's about strategy. In just the past two weeks, my team saved clients over 60 hours of planning, coordinating, ordering, and second-guessing. But the real transformation wasn't just time saved; it was confidence gained. Because when your outfits are handled with intention, you get to focus on what actually matters: your presence, your message, and your impact. In this episode, you'll learn:Why styling is strategy; not just shoppingThe hidden cost of last-minute outfit decisionsHow intentional wardrobe planning eliminates stress and elevates your brand If you've ever thought, “I'll just figure it out,” this might be the mindset shift you didn't know you needed. Continue building a life (and a style )that truly reflects you.

Today I talked to Florian Wagner about his new book Colonial Internationalism and the Governmentality of Empire, 1893–1982 (Cambridge UP, 2022). From its founding in 1893, to its decline in the 1970s, the International Colonial Institute (ICI) was one of the most powerful nongovernmental actors on the colonial scene. Styling itself a reformist institution, the ICI applied the tools of transnational scientific exchange to “rationalize” the practice of colonial rule. As part of this reformist project, members of the ICI mobilized progressive ideas in ways that built broad political consensus across Europe while also furthering inequality, exploitation, and segregation in the Global South, even beyond the end of formal empire. Tracing the long history of the ICI reveals fundamental continuities, argues Florian Wagner, that colonialist narratives of change obscure. Do you feel pressure to set big business goals just because it's a new year — even if it doesn't feel right? In this episode of The Business of Style Podcast, we're challenging the idea that January automatically means new goals, new strategies, and a complete business reset. Instead, we explore why it's not only okay to not set goals, but why that choice can actually support long-term, aligned growth in a personal styling business. We talk about what happens when life gets in the way of last year's plans, why some goals need more time to work, and how constantly chasing “what's next” can pull you out of alignment. You'll also learn why guiding principles or values can be far more powerful than traditional goal-setting — especially in a creative, client-facing industry.Louisa shares the guiding principles used in her own business and explains how each one applies specifically to personal stylists and image consultants who want to build a sustainable business that feels good to run.If you're craving permission to slow down, simplify, and trust your own pace — this episode is for you.***And don't forget, Louisa will be answering listener questions on the 100th episode of The Business of Style Podcast. To get an answer to your question, send a voice note to louisa@styleacademyintl.com, include your name, location, years in business, and of course your question. ***

On this Five Minute Friday, Amanda Fairley and Nikki Bogardus of PrismXI join us to unpack one of the most transformative tools in personal style: color analysis. Nikki has spent sixteen years studying the science of color, and together, Amanda and Nikki break down how the right colors impact confidence, first impressions, shopping habits, and the way you show up in life and business. They explain why traditional four-season color analysis often falls short — and how the 12-season method creates a more accurate, inclusive, and empowering approach for every individual. You'll learn: Why color creates the very first impression before anything else The three dimensions of color you must understand for an accurate result How knowing your colors saves money and simplifies your wardrobe The science behind why some colors flatter us and others distract How PrismXII's 12-season method is 3x more precise than traditional color analysis
Jennifer Principe is a stylist, author, speaker, and founder whose work blends fashion, faith, and emotional healing. After spending 14 years as a celebrity wardrobe stylist, she felt called to create something more meaningful — a space where style becomes a pathway back to confidence, dignity, and self-worth. She is the author of A Common Thread, a spiritually rooted memoir that explores clothing as a tool for inner transformation, and the founder of The Phoenix Effect, a nonprofit offering full styling, hair, makeup, and photography experiences for individuals facing life-debilitating illnesses. Her work has been featured on KTLA, BBC, Inside Edition, and across major outlets for its impact and heart. Before you listen to this episode, I want to share something with you: finding your purpose rarely appears as a straight, clear path. Sometimes it unfolds slowly, in detours and seasons we don't fully understand at the time. When Jennifer told me she worked thirty different jobs before realizing what she was meant to do, it struck me in the best possible way. It's a reminder that the things we're drawn to — the small nudges, the recurring interests, the quiet whispers — aren't random. They're direction. In this conversation, Jennifer opens up about her journey from a difficult childhood to a thriving styling career, and how she ultimately discovered the deeper calling beneath it.Jennifer shares the moment she first learned about “enclothed cognition,” the idea that what we wear can shift how we feel and how we move through the world. It's something she intuitively understood as a little girl seeking peace and play in the back of her grandmother's gift shop. And then there's the moment that changed everything: she's out on a run, overwhelmed by life transitions, when she feels an unmistakable inner pull telling her to stop and give her gift away. She listens. She makes one phone call from the side of the road. That call becomes the beginning of The Phoenix Effect, a nonprofit that has helped countless individuals see themselves again with warmth, strength, and hope.Today, Jennifer has stepped away from her 14-year styling career to fully embrace this mission. When I asked her about fear, she told me she's more afraid of never reaching her full potential than she is of stumbling along the way. There's something incredibly grounding about that. Her book, A Common Thread, captures her journey beautifully — blending storytelling, faith, healing, and practical tools to help you reconnect with who you are at your core. If you've been waiting for a sign, waiting for clarity, waiting to feel ready… let this episode be the moment that encourages your next step. What happens when your body, your life, or your routine changes, and suddenly nothing in your closet feels like you anymore? Launch Your Box Podcast with Sarah Williams | Start, Launch, and Grow Your Subscription Box
Do you ever sit down, open Facebook or Instagram, and think, “I have no idea what to post today”? You're not alone. Every subscription box owner has those days. I have good news. If you're shipping a box every month, your content is already in your hands. Literally. One box = 30 days of content. In this week's Friday Fuel episode of The Launch Your Box Podcast, I'm walking you through exactly how to turn a single subscription box into an entire month of posts, emails, and videos. And how to batch it all in a single day. Shift Your Mindset: You Already Have the Content Before we jump into ideas, let's change the way you think about content. Instead of asking: “What should I post today?”... Start asking: “How can I talk about this one box in different ways that connect with my audience?” You've already spent hours curating, packing, and presenting that box. Let it work harder for you. Content doesn't have to be new. It does have to be useful and consistent. The Breakdown: 30 Days of Content From One Subscription Box Your monthly plan, no guesswork required. Static Post Ideas (15 posts) Flat lays Product spotlights Behind-the-scenes photos Testimonials Theme graphics Polls Personal stories These visuals help your followers connect the dots between your box and the value it delivers. Email Ideas (1–2 per week) Sneak peeks Full reveals How-to guides “Last day to order” reminders Remember, your subscribers live busy lives. Create 30 Days of Content from ONE Subscription Box… All in One Day You don't need to create content every day. You just need one content day per month. On your next packing or reveal day, block out 2–3 hours to capture: Full-box flat lays and product close-ups You holding or packing the box Short video clips for Reels Selfies or lifestyle shots with the products From that one session, you'll walk away with: 15+ social posts 4–6 Reels Photos for emails and blogs Visuals for stories and highlights Smart marketing that respects your time?
