It is because our God is a righteous God that He will indeed punish his people. We learn biblically that our God is a blessed God. What does that mean? It means that the God of Israel wants to bless his people, and when I say his people, my intent is everyone who is in a covenantal relationship with Him. Our God is majestic. He is wonderful, and he is always faithful. And one of the things we encounter, especially in those four gospels, is that frequently he looks at someone who is suffering, someone who is in need, and the scripture says repeatedly that he was moved with compassion, and that compassion caused him to do a miracle. If you are going to be a spiritual leader in a local congregation or in any way at all, your family is going to be watched, and that's Biblically sound, meaning that God wants people who are in leadership to have a family that demonstrates a submissiveness to the Word of God, and when children, for example, are rebellious and they do not do what the Word of God commands, that reflects poorly upon The father, and that fact may indeed disqualify him from being a leader in a local congregation or in some spiritual position that is biblical, and we're going to be looking at a man today that although he was the spiritual leader of Israel, he certainly did not have godly children. The consequences of sin are severe when one disobeys God. Doesn't matter who that person is. Are in the midst of a study of the book of Numbers, and I've made mention to you that that name of that book in Hebrew is ba ba mid bar, and bamid bar means in the desert or in the wilderness, and it presupposes a few things. We are now ready for chapter six in the book of Numbers, which the first part of this chapter. In fact, most of this chapter is very unique. Well, our God is indeed a God of change, and when we draw near to Him submissively, God will indeed work change in our life, a godly change, a change that is pleasing to Him, a change that will bring us into obedience to the plans and purposes and objectives of God. There is a concept in Judaism called shalom, by it, which means peace of the house, and that is a very important blessing for every family, that there be peace. But remember something, the word peace just doesn't mean an absence of conflict, but peace is related to the will of God. When you read the Word of God, you find that prophets are always rejected by the people. Even the religious leaders of Israel did not want to tolerate the prophets of the Lord. Why is that? Because humanity has that sinful nature, and that sinful nature speaks to our flesh and it emphasizes our will, and it rejects the will of God, we need to change if we are going to find peace and joy and contentment, if we are going to find a life that has meaning and significance, a life that has an eternal aspect to it. We need to experience redemption. We see that God frequently calls people into a unique service.
