What was initially supposed to be a discussion about the pros and cons of deadlines for artists devolves quickly into an everything bagel when Rainwater takes Jow on an art history lesson about romances languages and then they talk about a cornucopia of topics (and yes, of course A.I. art once again gets discussed. Betters odds on it being in every season 3 episode are high). Anyway, this one's a little extra long to make up for the time away - enjoy!
When Jow gets asked to advise and mentor a friend of Rainwater's about the possibility of entering the film world, Jow takes the opportunity to come up with 10 pieces of advice or rules he would give himself. Rainwater follows suit and their lists are as follows....

Oh... and there's a surprise revelation made roughly 3/4 of the way through.
We end the year and season 2 with a 2+ hour holiday party episode featuring some of our favorite guests. There's a lot of inside baseball of art school kids going on, Jow gets drunk... and we mean DRUNK. If you have a long car ride this holiday season and there's literally nothing else to listen to, we got ya. There's a bit of talk about A.I. art, movies, weddings, alcohol and drugs, costa rican kissing norms, puppy suicide and so so much more. Jow's sorry to his guests and listeners. You'll hear why. And for the record, he paid for it with his first ever hangover the next day so you can be happy about that if you hate HOW MUCH of this 2+ hour podcast is him drunken rambling... and we also cut out over 30 minutes of it. But it's not a holiday party if Ted from accounting doesn't go off the deep end! Merry Everything Everybody!

Well... this one is.... something. Gender, sexuality, race, sex, slurs, abortion, depression - Jow and Rainwater tackle all of this and how it relates to an artist's obligation to art, themselves and culture. Jow drops a hard R and a hard ggot, Rainwater takes a step, Jow makes a bunch of women hate him, there's just a whole lot to unpack here. It's all about stepping out of your comfort zone today, but hopefully we're talking about things most won't for the sake of the art. Happy Thanksgiving!
Rainwater grills Jow about the rehearsal process and what directing actually is. There's also talk of practice and preparation. If you've ever wondered what a director actually says to actors (or should say) this is worth the listen!

The questionable thread that kicked off this conversation about race, gender, religious re-branding can be found here: https://twitter.com/DrThalaSiren/status/1568182048564875265?s=20&t=N3udk4YTjV_92WorRXLGLQ What are your thoughts on 'fanbaiting'?

Jow had to regretably sit this one out due to his work schedule but Rainwater was more than capable of leading this awesome discussion with Joe Bevil, aka BEVS who just released a new music album. They dive into the tracks on both this and Joe's past work, talking about narrative on an album, influences, recommendations and much more! Go check out his music (Super Juicy volumes 1 & 2, etc) and the new album (Sunshine feels so nice) before you listen! -- Available on soundcloud, spotify, amazon music, apple music and more!

What began as an expected shorter episode ended up going the distance as Jow and Rainwater tap into the takeaways they did get from going to an art college and what benefits it can still provide (and can't.)
Jow and Rainwater attended the same college for art and design between 2004-2008. Here's all the things we feel we did NOT learn in the Film/Television and Sequential Arts departments that we have in the time since and things you might want to try and get out of your professors should you attend one yourself.
Jow is 3 for 3 with recommendations to rainwater. Did "Midnight Mass" live up to his hype for Rainwater?
NYT Best selling artist Rainwater is approaching the finish line for his successful 100k+ subscriber webtoon "Trailer Park Warlock." So, Jow has questions...
Two almost, but not yet, middle age, suburban white guys talk about the television show 'Atlanta' from Donald Glover. Crayyyyyyy.

Your submission has not been selected. Thank you for your time. It's not a fit for our portfolio at this time. We invite you to submit again next time. The art game is brutal. Thankfully, your old pals Rainwater and Jow are here to talk you through it.
Jow and Rainwater discuss remakes, reboots, soft reboots, adaptations and all things within (and outside) of that realm.
Rainwater has caffeine and kicks Jow in the ass. Also, sketching is discussed.
I'm gonna take a break from this piece. I think I'll consume some entertainment. Wow, this entertainment has a really cool character. I wonder what my character would say to this character. Shit, actually, I think they'd be the villain. Oh man, actually, that gives me a great idea about my villain. They can do this. And then this will happen. And that solves my problem here. Oh... wait, hold on. But then I have to address this problem. And I also have to change this in the stuff I already did. I should probably stop working and take a break. I think I'll consume some entertainment.
Everything comes from some form of chaos and if there's one thing all artist hate to do, is give up control. But what if you could embrace chaos and allow it to create something on your behalf?
What makes you so special? What are you doing different? Why you? Why?
Jow is down for the count so Joker and Erin step in to assist Rainwater in a above board discussion that maybe the painkillers are making even more confusing for Jow as he writes this. There's mothman talk and talk of metaphysics. Again, painkillers. You're just gonna have to listen to know what this one is about. Mystery episode engage!
Jow has a problem (only one?). So he bounces it off Rainwater for help. It's a storytelling problem and one that many artists face: What exactly do I wanna do? It's not exactly 'writer's block' but more so having a dozen different maps and indecision about which one to take.
Films shouldn't be... in face, CANNOT be social commentary. The difference between art and activism is discussed as Jow and Rainwater go in on how no matter what an artist intends, your interpretation of a work is uniquely yours... if it is, in fact, art.
It's a 2 hour special episode covering 2022's "The Batman" with special guests Matt the Joker and Erin Benjamin!
Yo have a great idea! You've started!.....but just like any journey, you need gas to keep going. So how do you keep your inspiration or ring out some more when you're in the midst of it and deadlines and other ideas and you get the idea.
Rainwater has an accolade that few will ever see in their lives.... and he doesn't tell anyone about it. So of course, when Jow finds out he yells at him. Yes it happens towards the end of the show, no we didn't plan that. The rest of the episode is about telling people you're an artist for the first time. It's good too, but we didn't wanna bury the lead here.
Well, maybe not jealousy per say, but Jow and Rainwater go in on the innate observational envy and imposter syndrome type stuff in this one.
Have we done this one already? I don't know. I don't feel like checking. And if we have, it's perfect irony. Not that we have a rule that we can only do a topic once, but... ya know what? Just listen to the episode. You know you don't read this anyway.
Album covers, Movie posters, Comic book covers - Rainwater and Jow discuss what goes into creating a cover for several mediums.

All this and more as Jow and Rainwater discuss and rip apart Tim Burton (mostly by Jow).
Jow and Rainwater discuss the triumphs and pitfalls of re-writes. You're here to listen to the show not read the description. So there ya go. Now listen.
What started out as a deep dive into Groundhog day and the creation of ridiculous folklores turns into a not so gentle discussion of religion and politics. But thankfully, Jow and Rainwater get back on track discussing how they would add / change things to current holidays and more. But most of all.... you're turning into this episode to hear all about the cult that actually thinks Punxsutawney Phil has magic powers and has also lived for over 100 years.... and no, we did not source this from an Onion article. It's the art of folklore!
It was finally time, Jow and Rainwater discuss all the SCREAM films to date (1-5) and talk about what works for them in the composition of mystery writing, what doesn't, why it doesn't and how storytellers can pull from the franchise overall to improve their works, even outside of the mystery genre. It's a SCREAM baby in this special 2 hour episode!
