We must be the ones telling these stories. Not just consulting. Not just advising. Leading. Creating. Producing. Representing ourselves with precision and truth across every level and in every facet of the industry. If we don't step up, culture will continue to get it wrong. In episode 173, I sit down with the wild man himself, Rudy Reyes — Marine Corps veteran, actor, stunt coordinator, producer, the driving force behind FOX's Special Forces. Our conversation cuts straight to the core of what authentic storytelling  demands. Rudy doesn't just play roles — he lives them, bringing hard-earned truths from the battlefield to film, television, and commercial advertising. We dive into his latest work as the lead in the VA's Face Your Dragon campaign, a powerful PSA focused on securing firearms in the home to prevent veteran suicide. This is more than representation, it's responsibility. Rudy breaks down how his experience as a warfighter directly informs his work as an actor, stunt coordinator, and producer, and why that level of authenticity cannot be faked or outsourced. I'm sure you've seen plenty of movies, TV shows or ads featuring animals – whether it's a show based on one, like Babe or even if they're just in the background – like a dog on the street. Did you know there needs to be at least one animal trainer present on set? My guest today is Jet Shaw, and she does exactly that. She's also an internationally acclaimed animal behaviourist and educator. She's worked on some of the biggest movies, like Avatar, and has a career spanning over 3 decades.I'm very aware when it comes to animals and the ethics of them working in show biz, it can be a really complicated topic. It definitely is for me. But what I wanted to explore in this episode was the basics about the actual experience, so we don't go too far into the politics. It's a really important conversation, and I think it deserves an entire episode of it's own. So who knows, maybe one day. What I will say is this… Jet is SO passionate about what she does. Her love for animals is undeniable, and as you'll soon hear, she's incredibly strict about the high standard she keeps to ensure the well-being of her animals on and off set. She's also really funny… You're going to hear about how Jet became a trainer, how it all works as well as some pretty special moments - you might even recognise a couple of the stars she's worked with. So without further ado - here's Jet. Get in touch if you'd like to suggest an idea for an episode or just to say G'day

As part of University of Arizona's SXSW Movie Night night, Shai and Becky had an inspiring conversation with School of Theatre, Film & Television alum and current students in front of a packed live audience. We talked to Zack Lovvorn, whose eerie sci-fi film Iris gives us serious early Cronenberg vibes, Sasha Reist who brings a dancer's unique perspective to documentary film in her short Changement, and Roxie Denise Stevens Ibarra who masterfully plays with our heartstrings in her moving dramatic short Tesoro. We were also lucky to ask Peter Catalanotte of Film Tucson, a few insiders questions about shooting in Arizona.
