Our sermon text is 1 Timothy 6:3-10. In this sermon we come to Paul's final words to young Timothy. He returns to the importance of understanding and addressing false teachers that have caused so much trouble in the church. While we always assume this is a problem out there, we must be willing to consider the fruit coming from our own lives and be willing to do the work of exposing the roots from which it grows.
In this sermon we consider Paul's instructions for slaves/bond-servants. Whether we realize it or not, we all relate to various people in authority each day and God is interested in how we conduct ourselves as His ambassadors. Because we carry the teaching of God, bear the name of God and are part of the family of God it is essential that we honour Christ in this area. The sermon text 1 Timothy 6:1-2
In this sermon we continue to look at Paul's instruction to Timothy in relating to Elders. We consider the principle that Elders walking in sin must be corrected and also that there must be caution that is exercised when electing Elders into the office.
The disciples make the mistake of assuming that Jesus has no time to bless the children, and yet Jesus rebukes them and welcomes the children to himself. Furthermore, Jesus points out that no one comes into the Kingdom unless they become as a little child!
In this sermon Pastor Kyle Young walks us through the account in Exodus 17 where Israel is thirsty for water in the wilderness and grumbles against Moses and against God. How do we respond when our needs seem unmet? Do we trust God or do we give in to complaining and unbelief.
In this sermon we continue our study in 1 Timothy 5 and look at Paul's instructions for the church as they relate to the elders who have been entrusted with leadership in the congregation. We look at things like what is an elder? What does it mean to show double honour? And review again why Paul is given these instructions to Timothy in the first place!
In this sermon Glenn turns to Ephesians 5 and walks through roles within a marriage relationship and also helps us see how marriage is meant to point beyond itself to the reality of Christ and His bride the church.
As we continue in our study of 1 Timothy we come to the matter of caring for widows. There are many points of controversy in this passage, but we see the family's responsibility to care for their own, and also the church's to care for those who are alone and destitute. Furthermore we see that within the group called "widows" there is a unique class of older widows who were employed by the church for unique service and care.
In this sermon we continue our study in 1 Timothy. We come to chapter 5 where Paul gives instructions to the church and to Timothy on how to relate to one another and also how to care for those in need.
A booklet on the baptism and membership of young children.
In this sermon we continue to look at Paul's words to Timothy as Paul exhorts him to press on as a good servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As Paul turns from the concerns he has about the deceitful spirits and false teachers, he turns to Timothy and continues to give him instruction on how to press on as a good servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Paul's instruction to Timothy we find much application for us today as well.
In this sermon we continue to look at Paul's instruction regarding the false teachers and the deceitful spirits that were plaguing the church at Ephesus, we see how the false teachers are used, and how Paul exposes and corrects some of the false teaching that was going on.
As Paul moves into the middle section of his letter to Timothy he returns to the problem of false teachers in the church. Here Paul gives insight into the source and tactics of these false teachers and serves as help for us in our calling to be discerning.
As Moses reflects on his many trials and triumphs he passes on a Psalm of wisdom and insight. May we have ears to hear this timeless council.
In this sermon we finish our look at Paul's hymn of confession found in 1 Timothy 3. We see that Christ was believed on in the world and we also see that Christ was received up into glory upon His ascension and exaltation!
As we continue with Paul's brief, but rich confession found in 1 Timothy 3:14-16, we come to the witness of Christ. The angels and the ambassadors of God among men serve as some of the primary witnesses of Christ. In this sermon we look at these witnesses and how they pointed to Christ throughout redemptive history up to the present day.
In Paul's letter to Timothy he mentions that together we confess the mystery of godliness in 3:14-16 and then goes on to describe some of the essential confessions about the person and work of Christ. In this sermon we begin to look at the description of Jesus that Paul gives.
Knowing who we are and what we are called to do is essential in any institution, but especially for the Church of Jesus Christ! In this sermon we consider Paul's brief, but profound, description of the churches identity and mission.

In this sermon we continue our study in 1 Timothy 3 on the topic of the Office of Overseer.
While Paul states a number of qualification the overseer and the deacon must posses, he also names a number that they must not posses! In this sermon we look at the first three pitfalls that the leader must avoid, namely drunkenness, violence and quarrelling.
In this sermon we consider the qualification of good home management and even more specifically of submissive children. The home is one of the most telling evidences of a man who is walking in obedience to Christ and capable to properly care for the household of God. We consider what is implied in the words "manage well" and also take some time to consider the parallel passage in Titus 1:6.
In this sermon we focus in on the quality that makes the office of overseer/pastor/elder really unique from that of a deacon or other members within the church. The overseer must be able to teach, and we look at the parallel passage in Titus 1 to consider further what Paul means by that statement.
Hospitality is something that is not very common in our western culture, and yet as followers of Jesus Christ we are called to show love and kindness to one another as God has so graciously shown mercy to us who were once strangers to His grace.
As we continue through the list of qualifications we come to a triad of words that can be described as a Spirit empowered self-mastery that must be evident in the leader and also in every disciple of Jesus Christ!
In this sermon we continue to look at Paul's qualifications for the Overseer/Pastor. And they are not simply Paul's qualifications but God's as He inspired Paul to write. We look specifically at the call for the Overseer to be a "One woman man".
After considering the nature of the office we now consider the qualifications for the office. We see that Paul has in mind present realities in the life of the leader and also the overarching description of "above reproach".
As Paul moves on in his letter to Timothy he takes time to give instruction about leadership in the church. In this sermon we first look at the office itself and then in the coming weeks we will explore the qualifications of the office.

In this sermon we continue to look at Paul's instruction to the women in the church and how they are given unique opportunity for good through the bringing up of godly children.

In this sermon Dave opens up the next verses in 1 Tmothy 2 as Paul explains further how men and women should conduct themselves in the church of God. Though these are sensitive issues in our present day, we should willingly submit ourselves to the word of God.
As Paul is urging the church at Ephesus to continue in prayer and points out that God's desire is for the salvation of all people, he grounds his statements in some foundational truths that are meant to serve as foundations for us personally and also as an appeal to nations.
In this sermon we consider what Paul's means by saying that God desires all people to be saved and that Jesus is the ransom for all. While it can be a controversial issue, it is important that we avoid some of the common misconceptions regarding God's means of salvation through Christ.
As Paul concludes his opening words to Timothy, he begins to address the congregation. Of the many issues Paul could have started with he chose to start with prayer as the main priority for the church!

As Paul is writing to Timothy, he steps aside for a moment to talk about the proper use of the law. In this sermon, we take a look at what the law is in light of Scripture and begin to look at it's purpose as intended by God.
In this sermon we come again to the charge that Paul describes to Timothy and instead of focusing our attention on the essence of "love", we consider the three channels through which love flows which is a "pure heart", a "good conscience" and a "sincere faith".
In this sermon we consider love as the aim and charge of the Christian. Though love is a word that is way overused and watered down in our culture, it is filled with rich and profound meaning for the Christian.
