He leaves Timothy there to help get things get back on track and in chapter 6, Paul is going to finalize his instructions. In them he says these false teachers have one main motive—money. They want to get rich and Peter says something similar in his letters to the church. Paul says real wealth comes from two things: godliness and contentment. How do we get those two things? 2 Peter series message 7Text: II Peter 2:1-3Having affirmed the truth and the straightedge of truth, Peter now moves to his primary theme: false teachers. We must know the truth from error and how to arrive on the side of the truth. The concept of absolute truth is a hard one for this generation, and therefore crucial to address.

The contemporary church could really use this lesson. The church as become soft on standing against false teachers for the fear of being called judgmental. Heresies are dangerous and destructive to the church. We must stand firm against those who do not teach the gospel as it was brought by Jesus Christ and taught by the Apostles.
(This podcast was previously recorded and published on November 26, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... II Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. Concerning the last days, Jesus warns: Matthew 24:3-5 And as HE (Jesus) sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto HIM privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. They come to us saying they are pastors or other ministers of Jesus. Others come saying they are Christians and they say "Jesus is Lord". And because they say Jesus is the Christ, we will listen to them and they will deceive many.
False Prophets and False Teachers (2 Peter 2:1-22)
For the early church, a lot of attention is given related to whether a believer in Christ needed to follow the laws given by Moses, including the law of circumcision. Acts 15, 1 Corinthians 7, Galatians 3, 5-6, Ephesians 2, Philippians 3, and Colossians 2 all address this subject. While we may not find ourselves tempted to follow the laws of Moses, legalism can be a real struggle in the church today, causing harm to whole families and individual believers. Additionally, our current celebrity culture fuels temptation to combine sharing the gospel with dishonest gain, corrupting the message and harming the body of Christ. In our study of Titus, it is vital that we grasp the solid truth that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. While Paul's letter will speak into Christlike character, sound doctrine, and righteous living – we must be careful we don't find ourselves falling into the trap of thinking right standing with God is based on the things we do or the popularity we have. Let us seek to be discerning people, willing to receive correction if our own ways of thinking have gone astray. During our study of Paul's letter to Titus we encourage you to memorize Titus 2:11-14. For this week work on memorizing Titus 2:12“ It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,”Prepare for this week's teaching by reading Titus 1:10-16
In this crucial episode of Self Talk, Dr. Ray warns listeners to beware of a church or denomination that teaches the gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as prophecy, tongues, and healing, are no longer valid for today. This teaching distorts scripture, forcing it to align with preconceived ideas, and it's perilous. It can even border on blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. 2Pe 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Timothy 3 warns that the last days will be marked by widespread ungodliness—people loving themselves and pleasure rather than God, while only maintaining an outward form of religion. Paul contrasts this corruption with Timothy's calling: to follow his example of faith, endurance, and suffering for Christ. The chapter closes with the reminder that all Scripture is God-breathed, profitable for teaching, correction, and training, fully equipping the servant of God for every good work.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/lets-talk-scripture/donations
Yes, they are.I discuss Alisa Childers' shift toward engaging with false teachers to reach the lost. While some support this view, I warn against the dangers of false teachers, asserting they corrupt faith and lead believers astray. I emphasize the importance of avoiding such influences, offering evidences of biblical warnings regarding sin and temptation.
In this post, I discuss the importance of maintaining theological integrity and not compromising the Gospel despite cultural moments that seem to indicate a softening or readiness for the Gospel. I critique Alisa Childers' self-announced shift towards softening her stance on not associating with false teachers and indicating she may now do so in the future, if asked. I state that this undermines credibility and dilutes the message of Christ. We need clear separation from falsehood in ministry.
Paul makes a strong statement in chapter 4 saying that some people have quit following truth and started following these false teachers whose teachings come from demons! Yikes! This means there were men and women who had given their life to Jesus, they were filled with the Holy Spirit who leads people into all truth, they were operating in the gifts of the Spirit, yet, after giving time and attention to these false teachers, they deliberately turned from Jesus to follow demons. It is easy for us to say we would never do such a thing but...watch out! You may already be doing it! If you are following someone who teaches false doctrine that doesn't line up with the word of God, then you may have a seared conscience and following a demon!
