Welcome to Retrospective Rants. Where movies both classic and rancid are abused by your host: Joseph Huff. Whether it's Sci-fi Parodies, Historical Epics, or Indie Dramas, J. Huff takes comprehensive and pithy shots at the most profound works of modern cinematic art, for better or worse. In addition to Solo episodes, there will be guest tracks where specific movies, books, or even video games are given a good once over with the help of a guest. Architects, Graphic Designers, and bibliophiles of all types are will join in on the madness. And maybe, just maybe, we might actually something intelligent. Beyond that, we hope you'll enjoy our content, and that wherever you're listening from: Have a Good One.
An episode where I indulge myself and spew forth monologues from some of my favorite Shakespearean Villains!
Rant on my troubles with creativity and family drama that complicates it. Tis unscripted and suitably ranty, so listen to it at your own risk. But thank you for doing so anyway.
In this episode, Legate Timothy Tetram assembles the remnants of the Royal Mobile Corps. Unfortunately, the task before him is more difficult than anticipated...
Something new! A segment of "totally serious" interviews by correspondent, Karen Strawmen. Our first guest is Postmodern Intellectual, visiting from the nearest hipster coffee hut you can think of.
Just a freestyle and unscripted rant that I made after thinking on my last podcast. Thoughts on artists of the past and censorship. Check it out if you're into semi-cogent rants and moral nitpicking.
A reading of one of my favorite Lovecraft stories: "The Temple". This is sort of a first for me, but I hope you all enjoy it!
A special Christmas reading of "The Night Before Christmas". This is meant to be a continuation of the tradition established by my beloved Grandfather. Who at the time of this publication, had just recovered from a surprise surgery. I hope all who listen to this, enjoy my reading as much as I have enjoyed my Gran's. Merry Christmas!
Archimedes confronts the admin officials who have been holding back his efforts. Will he claim victory over these militant desk jockeys? Tune in to find out!
My 2nd Halloween Special! Listen in for a tragic tale of "horrifically" lost love. And perhaps just a little bit of satire...
In this episode: we dive a little deeper into the deeper philosophy behind or villainous protagonists, by going to U-DAB, The University of Aspiring Dark Lords and Assorted Evil Bastards.
The nobles of Leo convene to discuss their response to the evil of Archimedes...with predictable results.
Episode 3 of The Dark Lord! Where Archimedes must face down the first counterattack by the forces of good.
The Duke of Yvonnis, a prominent noble of Leo, is kidnapped. He quickly determines that this was done to undermine efforts to combat Archimedes, LichLord of Cyrencia. His suspicions are then confirmed, as he confronts the LichLord's new chief enforcer...
My first attempt at a small comedy sketch, based on my fantasy stories. This is the introduction of Archimedes, The LichLord of Cyrenica. Archie will be the star for this micro-series in Retrospective Rants: The Dark Lord. All of the straight work set in the world of Caminus and Yishu can be found on my Wattpad. For not though, give this a listen, thank you, and have a good one!.https://www.wattpad.com/user/imperious54
My review of the 1997 anime adaptation of Kentaro Miura's "Berserk". Humor, gore, and random nonsense...sounds like typical anime to me. Be Warned: There are many dark themes in this series that are touched upon in my review. Among them are war, domestic and personal abuse (sexual abuse and the characters' attempts to cope are at the forefront), and child murder. THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
My First Halloween special, celebrated with an audio reading of one of my own stories...
"Retrospective Rant's" first review in it's "90's hits" series. The focus in on the 1993 movie "The Sandlot".
An episode introducing who I (J. Huff) am, and basic info about "Retrospective Rants".
