The new era of college football arrived last summer with open season for student-athletes to cash in on their name, image and likeness. Recruiting has added a new (or maybe old depending on how pure you believe the sport has been in the past) aspect that requires programs to have boosters willing and able to win bidding wars to land the nation's best players and compete at the highest level. So do the Florida State Seminoles have the pockets to keep up? Does their current run of missing bowl games hold them back? And how can they capitalize on this new NIL system and push themselves to the forefront? Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Juan Montalvo answer those questions and look toward how the program fits into the future of college football as the sport's leadership eyes the next evolution as well.

Are you feeling the football lull? Don't worry, you're not alone in counting the 201 (yes, we did the math) days until the Florida State Seminoles are back on the field in a regular season game. Until then, we can talk roster construction and season expectations. This week, we got two headlines in both of those categories with a pretty quiet National Signing Day and the release of Florida State's schedule for this fall. Is there a takeaway from the quiet finish to the traditional recruiting season? And what is a reasonable expectation for Mike Norvell's team as he enters his third year at the helm? The Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin, Juan Montalvo and Jon Marchant — answer those questions and more in this week's episode as we await the start of spring football.

The Florida State Seminoles entered the offseason with plenty of holes to fill on their roster, but Mike Norvell and his coaching staff have moved quickly in the six or so weeks since their final snap to plug those gaps especially through the transfer portal. In the last month, the Noles have brought in seven transfers addressing some of their biggest needs (offensive line, wide receiver and linebacker) and have now struck another massive hole with the commitment of defensive end Jared Verse on Friday night. So what can we expect from Verse and the rest of the transfers and what moves are still left to be made for FSU as the offseason rolls on? This week's episode will center around the last 48 hours for the Florida State football program and what a time it was. The sun rose on Early Signing Day with the news of offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham leaving his post to take the same role at Oregon. Then rumors of the nation's top recruit, Travis Hunter, potentially flipping his long-standing Florida State began swirling. Obviously, those turned out to be true as Hunter left the Seminoles at the altar to sign with one of school's all-time greats, Deion Sanders, and Jackson State. Then another miss — this time on pass rusher Marvin Jones, Jr. But the night did end on a positive as they landed an official commitment from legacy five-star offensive lineman Julian Armella to “#KeepCLIMBing” to borrow a line from Mike Norvell. This morning, another positive as FSU officially promoted offensive line coach Alex Atkins to take the reigns of the entire offense as the new OC. So what's next for the program? What's Norvell's future? How can this program compete in the NIL era? It's a lot to unpack, but the Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin, Juan Montalvo and Jon Marchant — does their best to help it all make sense.

Florida and Florida State will renew their rivalry after a hiatus thanks to college football's pandemic rules a year ago and this year the rivalry carries some huge implications for the future of both programs. The Seminoles opened the year 0-4 and somehow find themselves one win away from bowl eligibility. They had their struggles but have found a rhythm to carry them to the brink of 6-6 and their first bowl berth since the Sun Bowl loss in 2019. They appear to be peaking at the right time and find their rival heading the other way. The Gators are now led by interim coach Greg Knox after Dan Mullen's firing earlier this week. Less than 365 days ago, Florida was No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings but have got 5-9 since with wins against mostly Group of 5 programs. Could this be the time to sweep the Gators and Canes in the same year and reclaim the state title? Brian Pellerin and Jon Marchat take you through that plus the candidates for Florida's opening, recap the Boston College victory and give Brian's best bets for the upcoming Thanksgiving college football weekend.
