Gresham Harkless shares a deeply personal moment in his entrepreneurial path, expressing the emotional weight of a season where nothing seems to be going right, professionally or personally. He discusses the cumulative toll of losing loved ones, the underperformance of his digital marketing business despite team growth, and the stagnation of CB Nation, all of which have left him questioning his progress. Despite these challenges, he emphasizes the importance of maintaining faith, practicing mindfulness, and reframing struggles as opportunities for resilience and growth. Gresham highlights the importance of acknowledging small victories, facing challenges with mindful resilience rather than bottling them up, and staying rooted in the belief that obstacles can lay the groundwork for a strong comeback. Send us a MessageIn this fourth of a series of planned quarterly episodes on Culture Change RX, host Sue engages with Ben Davis, President and CEO of Glencoe Regional Health, to discuss the ongoing transformational initiatives within his rural healthcare organization. As they mark the completion of the first year of Glencoe's “Experience Initiative,” they explore the concept of the 'whirlwind' in daily operations, the necessity of grit and perseverance in navigating change, and the significance of investing long term in people to foster a culture of growth and excellence in patient care.Investing in people is crucial for organizational success and quality patient care.Data tracking is important to measure progress and motivate change.Leadership development is one of the key focuses and a recent on-site leadership training achieved a high satisfaction rating by the leaders attending. The 'whirlwind' refers to the daily operational challenges that take time and energy and may distract from pro-active improvement and growth activities.Grit and perseverance are essential for successful change management.Adoption of new practices may take time, and at the one-year mark it is estimated that maybe only 10-15% of staff are currently engaged in these new initiatives which is right on target as to what could be expected at this point in the transformation. The journey of transformation is ongoing, requiring continuous effort and commitment.Missed earlier episodes in this series?

Summary In this episode, Ali Damron introduces the concept of neuroplastic symptoms, explaining how they manifest as real physical symptoms generated by the brain and nervous system. She discusses the importance of understanding neuroplastic pain, the confusion surrounding correlation versus causation in medical diagnoses, and the cycle of fear that can exacerbate symptoms. Ali emphasizes the brain's ability to rewire itself and the potential for healing through awareness and understanding of these processes. She encourages listeners to explore resources and take actionable steps towards healing. Takeaways Neuroplastic symptoms can change your view on health. Symptoms like pain and fatigue are brain-generated. Chronic pain often has neuroplastic origins. Correlation does not imply causation in medical tests. Many people have abnormal scans without symptoms. Fear can exacerbate the symptom cycle. Healing requires understanding the brain's role. You are not broken; healing is possible. At a time of heightened tension and strategic recalibration, the U.S.-China relationship is undergoing significant change as the Trump Administration announces high tariffs on Chinese goods and trade and investment restrictions while also signaling that President Trump may be open to negotiations. Sino-American competition is intensifying across economic, political, and technological realms, and opportunities for collaboration to tackle global issues such as AI governance, climate change, and public health remain elusive. Madlik Podcast – Torah Thoughts on Judaism From a Post-Orthodox Jew
October 7th shattered more than Israel's security - it's challenging core Haredi beliefs. In the wake of October 7th, a seismic shift is occurring within Israel's ultra-Orthodox community. The long-standing exemption from military service for Haredi yeshiva students is facing unprecedented scrutiny – not just from secular Israelis, but from within the Haredi world itself. This week's Torah portion, Bamidbar (Numbers), offers a timely lens through which to examine this complex issue. As we explore the biblical census and military draft, we uncover surprising parallels to today's debate over Haredi enlistment. This weekend, the New York Times ran a piece titled Six Months Later, Democrats Are Still Searching for the Path Forward, and it was bleak. The lead quote came from Anat Shenker-Osorio, a favorite of this show, describing Democrats as sloths, snails, and most devastatingly, a deer in headlights. That last one feels accurate, especially when you look at the post-election breakdown from Catalist, a Democratic-aligned polling firm. We'll dive deeper into that next week with Michael Cohen, but the short version? The coalition looks grim.Democrats are losing ground, and it's not just because of Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. It's not just about the top of the ticket. It's structural. They don't have a message that resonates, and they don't have a coalition that can win. When you look at how the electorate has shifted since 2012 — through 2016, 2020, and now 2024 — the trend is clear. Wide swaths of the country keep moving right. This is not just a Trump story. This is a cultural shift.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. There are a few bright spots — like John Ossoff. The Atlanta suburbs are still trending blue, which gives him a strong base going into his re-election. But one candidate's survival isn't a strategy. The bigger problem is Democrats losing voters they used to count on, and then reacting like anthropologists studying a foreign culture. Take the new $20 million project codenamed SAM — “Speaking with American Men.” The plan is to understand what language appeals to young men online and then buy ad space in video games. I'm not kidding.I'll save you the $20 million. Want to understand American men? Go to a sports bar at lunch. Talk to the bartender. Watch what's on TV. It's going to be Capitals games, Commanders games, maybe Nationals if they're hot. Ask what name the bartender uses — Commanders or Redskins — and pay attention. That's a signal. Look around. You'll see a guy without sleeves. His name is Pat McAfee. He parlayed a Barstool podcast into a national show that's shaping how a huge swath of American men consume sports and culture.McAfee is the demographic. Not the man, but the space he occupies. You don't need to book him — in fact, don't. But understand what kind of guests are on his show. What they talk about. What they joke about. The cultural signals they send. Most aren't overtly political, but they skew conservative. They care about sports, performance, and authenticity. They aren't trying to be progressive heroes. They're just being themselves — and Democrats don't know how to speak to that. The real issue is that Democrats think everything is messaging. They believe their phrasing is so perfect, so tested, that if people just heard it the right way, it would work. But voters aren't lab rats. They're not waiting for the next DNC ad drop to form their opinions. They're watching comedians joke about trans athletes. They're laughing at jokes about liberal overreach. They're reacting to a world where Democrats are often cast as anti-fun and anti-speech. And white men — yes, still the overwhelming majority of this country — don't respond well to being told they're the problem from the start. So how do you reach them? Start by understanding who's already reaching them. Then think about what message would land quietly on a show like Pat McAfee's. Not what would stand out. What would blend in. That's the Rosetta Stone. Speak in a way that doesn't sound like a speech. Get out of your own head. Stop trying to convert — start trying to connect. And meanwhile, while Democrats strategize over lunch buffets at luxury hotels, Trump is climbing in the polls. The idea that he's getting “less popular” is just wrong. His lowest point was late April. Since then, his numbers have rebounded. His approval is hovering around 47 percent. That's good — especially for someone who normally lives in the 30s. Right now, more Americans think the country is on the right track under Trump than they ever did under Biden. The direction-of-the-country numbers are strong. For Trump. That's insane. And Democrats ignore it at their peril. They keep underestimating him. They keep assuming the messaging is enough. But Trump is talking about tax cuts for tips and overtime. Democrats are voting for them too — the Senate just passed a version 100 to 0. They know it polls well. They just don't want to say it out loud unless it's their version.Politics is about trust. And the Biden White House broke it. When it's he said, she said, voters side with the one who hasn't lied to them. That's Trump right now. And if Democrats want to change that, they've got to start being honest — not just with the public, but with themselves.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:01:44 - Democrat Rebranding Struggles00:26:16 - Update00:27:34 - US-EU Trade Talks and Consumer Confidence00:31:32 - Senate Republican Fiscal Concerns00:34:34 - Covid Vaccine Recommendations Pulled00:37:52 - Interview with Juliegrace Brufke01:04:15 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. In this episode of Passing Judgment, Jessica Levinson talks with Wall Street Journal tax reporter Richard Rubin to break down the GOP's "big beautiful" tax bill. Richard explains what's in the bill—from tax cuts and increases to spending shifts—and who will be most affected if it passes. They discuss how the bill squeaked through the House, the major sticking points, and what's likely to change as it moves to the Senate. Join us for a clear, accessible look at what's inside the bill and how it could impact Americans' wallets and the federal deficit. Here are three key takeaways you don't want to miss:What's Inside the GOP Tax Bill: The bill primarily extends the 2017 tax cuts, including a higher standard deduction, lower rates, and business relief, while adding temporary cuts like a boosted child tax credit and tip or overtime exemptions. To offset costs, it includes tax hikes, mainly on clean energy and high earners, major cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and increased spending on border security and defense. How “Typical” is This GOP Bill?: Richard describes it as a “mishmash”—there are conventional GOP elements (like tax cuts for the affluent), but also some Trump-specific provisions, like the “Trump account” (a new children's savings account), faster write-offs for American factories, and anti-immigration measures. The Path Forward in the Senate: Richard explains that the Senate will likely alter the House version, focusing on issues like Medicaid changes and clean energy tax credits.Follow Our Host and Guest: @RichardRubinDC @LevinsonJessica

In this final episode of the Kenya series, host Anna Stoecklein explores what it will take to not just end female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), but to shift the underlying social norms that drive it. The episode examines the complex journey toward cultural transformation, revealing how community dialogue, intergenerational conversations, and collective action are crucial for lasting change. Through powerful examples—from a young Maasai man who composes songs advocating against FGM/C to a former cutter now spreading awareness within her community—the episode showcases how grassroots movements are creating meaningful progress. Why We Need Spiritual Brain SurgeryToday, I'm sharing thoughts inspired by a fallen tree, a blocked road, and the search for a new path forward after unexpected calamity. I want you to understand the importance of connecting faith with neuroscientific principles, and why we need two different podcasts to make space for this incredible community of budding self-brain surgeons. We discuss how personal setbacks and societal challenges often lead to a mindset that nothing can help, and why I argue for a shift in approach to realize that something - and eventually, perhaps God - can help. This is how we bridge the gap between science and faith, and I want you to explore both avenues for a deeper understanding and betterment of life.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Spiritual Brain Surgery00:44 Why Start Another Podcast?03:07 The Concept of Approaches in Neurosurgery04:44 Changing Your Approach to Life06:49 The Role of Science and Faith10:54 Guest Hosts and Future Plans11:31 The Importance of Spirituality14:13 Overcoming Obstacles: A Personal Story22:00 Final Thoughts and EncouragementWant more tools for rewiring your brain and renewing your mind?

The episode also explores the guiding principle of the program - “nothing about us without us” - and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from both patients and staff.

“Peace be with you”. Those were the first words spoken from the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica to the massive crowd below by the newly chosen pontiff, now known as Pope Leo XIV.133 cardinals from around the world voted in a handful of rounds before the final decision was made and the white smoke billowed from the Sistene Chapel chimney.Formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, Leo is the first pope from the United States – a choice that shocked some and has many wondering what this may signal.Host Melanie Ng speaks with religious scholar Héctor Acero Ferrer from the Institute for Christian Studies about the new pontiff and how he will position himself on the world stage. In this week's episode of Shoulder to Shoulder, Doug and Pesach reconnect while Doug is in the heart of Washington, D.C. for a jam-packed week of advocacy and prayer. Doug shares his firsthand reflections from the National Day of Prayer events, the Israel Embassy gathering, and Israel Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. But that's just the beginning. The conversation shifts to the pressing situation in Gaza, where Doug and Pesach tackle the question few are willing to ask: What is the endgame? With Israel gaining confidence in not just defending itself by conquering and occupying Gaza. Is the world ready for an Israel that no longer plays defense? Should Israel become more comfortable with a permanent presence in Gaza? Doug and Pesach don't hold back as they explore the deeper implications of a shifting Middle East and what it means for Jews, Christians, and freedom-loving people everywhere. This episode is a powerful blend of current events, theological insight, and bold questions. You won't want to miss it.

When Clearwater Mayor Bruce Rector steps onto Virgin Airlines and sees Clearwater Beach representing Tampa Bay on international flight promotions, he's reminded of his city's global tourism appeal. But as he reveals in this candid conversation with Real Estate Disruptors host Amir Habibzadeh, tourism is just one piece of a more ambitious vision for Clearwater's future.Mayor Rector brings 34 years of legal practice and extensive international leadership experience to his role, having visited 50 countries in a single year during his presidency of Junior Chamber International. This global perspective informs his approach to Clearwater's challenges - from unprecedented hurricane recovery to downtown revitalization that has lagged behind neighboring St. Petersburg and Tampa. "We need to revitalize our city, not just our downtown," Rector emphasizes, outlining his commitment to enhancing all areas from the beaches to Countryside. The conversation delves into Clearwater's remarkable recovery from Hurricane Helene's record-breaking eight-foot storm surge that devastated properties that had stood for a century, while also addressing the critical housing affordability crisis that forces over half of Clearwater Beach's workforce to commute from neighboring counties. Mayor Rector details his plans for attracting development while protecting the natural environment that makes Clearwater special, including waterfront opportunities created by the county's planned relocation and potential workforce housing along US-19.Beyond tourism, Rector envisions Clearwater becoming a hub for cybersecurity and life sciences, particularly marine research, positioning the city within Tampa Bay's broader economic ecosystem. His hands-on approach to community engagement - personally responding to every email and phone call - reflects his commitment to hearing residents' concerns while building a legacy focused on long-term improvements that may not be fully realized during his term. For real estate professionals navigating Clearwater's complex market, the mayor offers both encouragement and challenge: help find housing solutions for the workforce while maintaining the community character that makes Clearwater an international destination.

Vinnie Duber is back on the podcast for the first time since February of 2022, just as the White Sox were expected to contend for that year's World Series. But instead, a steep decline was about to begin with many players on that team and their opponent on Opening Day in 2022 now mirrors where the White Sox are right now. Chuck and Vinnie talk about how everything fell apart so quickly and how this new era of White Sox baseball could have a much better ending than the last one.
Jen Psaki welcomes Governor J.B. Pritzker, who gave a speech yesterday in New Hampshire lambasting Trump, criticizing “do-nothing” Democrats and calling for mass mobilization against the growing number of unprecedented attacks the Trump administration has launched against migrants, universities, and the American economy. They discuss the administration's stance on migrants, which hits home for Pritzker personally, as the child of Ukrainian immigrants. Jen also speaks with The Atlantic's Ashley Parker, who interviewed Trump in the run-up to his 100-day milestone.
