We are back with an update episode (maybe this will be more common moving forward??) on life and how we are doing after 5 or so weeks in France! We have hit some highs and lows, we are balancing new things/schedules, and took our first trip here in the EU. We are still certainly in an adjustment period and are trying to be patient and give ourselves grace when it feels like a lot. You'll have to listen to learn more!Links:Google form for listener questions and topic ideas!Instagram
We have officially traveled across the world and are settling into our new home of Annecy, France! We had some complex travel to get here from the Pacific Northwest that includes the following checkpoints:Flying with both dogs in cabin on a commercial airline48 hour stint in NYCSeparate flights to ParisThe travel conversation is followed up with a recap of our first 10 days in France, how we are settling in, and some things we are looking forward to :)Links:Google form for listener questions and topic ideas!Instagram
Hello again friends! In this episode we finally dive into Kelsey's elusive and complex health history. We are mostly discussing the challenges and battles that Kelsey has been experiencing the last 3+ years with a bit of a brief history prior as well. She talks about her story, the toll it has taken, therapies she has tried, and more. It's not necessarily a *fun* topic but hopefully it's interesting and informative in some way. Welcome to 2025 (aka the longest feeling year ever so far)! The first section of the episode we are recapping our January which Jake had off of work and was mostly a good time. Following that up with our topic of the month, which is social media. A hefty topic with a lot to discuss as our feelings around it have changed quite a bit over the years. As 30 something millennials we grew up with social media having a large presence in our lives and have a lot to say about it. We talk about the "good old days", the effects it has had on our mental health, algorithms, pressures, and more. It's light-hearted in certain moments and heavier in others. Hope you enjoy it regardless! Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
We are BACK!! Apologies for our absence in December. A faulty recording, plus some travel, and Kelsey being very sick (again) led us to logistically not get anything out in the first half of the month so we figured we would just wait until Jan 1 to release the next one. We appreciate your understanding! The first half of this episode is us recapping November and December with lots and lots to catch up on! The second half is us answering a big handful of your questions from the Google Form. Don't forget to submit more below! Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
In this episode of SLTOL we chat about community and friendships - a topic that has been heavy on our hearts and minds the last few years. The general sequence of events in the episode is our usual check in, a history of friendships/friend groups for us both, where we are now, and our hopes for the future. We love our friends dearly but have dreams of changes both personally and societally. Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
Animal lovers unite! Arguably one of the biggest parts of our lives is our pets. Ava, Ash, Aspen and Posey are our four fur babies and we thought it would be fun to talk about them with you all. We talk about each pets origin story and a little bit about what their personality is like. Enjoy :) Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
We have gotten an overwhelming amount of requests for more of a deep dive on us so we thought it was a good idea to start with a background/timeline of our relationship. We met in 2008 and have had lots of transition periods, especially in the first 9 years. Let us know if we talked about anything specific in here you'd like to know more about :) Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
We decided to dedicate this whole episode to life updates because we have a lot! Kelsey just got back from a 10 day France scouting trip for our big move and Jake has been navigating a couple big difficult situations involving his job and Destiny 2. Listen to find out where we have decided to set our sights for our move next spring! Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram
The big question that everyone wants to know these days and most won't ask (which is honestly appreciated): when are you having kids? It's a difficult topic to talk about so openly and publicly so we appreciate anyone listening going into this with an open mind and recognizing how personal of a conversation this is. We have a brief check in this episode including Noah Kahan and making sweet treats followed by the bulk of the episode being on the main topic. We often get asked why we travel alone/without one another (sometimes with a sense of judgement and sometimes with a sense of curiosity). We both have a history of traveling solo in very different ways which we cover in this episode, as well as why it's been beneficial for us individually and as a couple. Additionally Kelsey gives some advice at the end for those wanting to explore adventure solo travel! Recap at the beginning of the episode includes Kelsey's recent trip to Alaska and Jake's Destiny Final Shape DLC grind. Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! Instagram Tiktok
Episode 6 is here! We discuss Jake completing his MLB stadium tour with his Dad as well as our backpacking trip to Havasupai Falls. Then we get into the meat of the episode which is each of our 3 techniques/strategies for how we got to where we are today in our respective businesses. Note: We also discuss our reasoning behind the video format being kind of a fail and why we won't be continuing the Youtube channel. Links: Google form for listener questions and topic ideas! In this episode of SLTOL we wanted to have a more laid back topic after our last few! We have our usual check in to talk about what we've been up to lately (lots of wild travel for Jake) and then get into each of our favorite movies and tv shows. Chill vibes :) VIDEO: This episode will be posted on Youtube (this one if terribly out of focus but y'all voted that you wanted it anyway): linked here! In this episode of SLTOL we recap a fun recent trip to Las Vegas and then get into our main topic of the episode: mental health. We start by discussing our individual histories of our struggles with anxiety and depression. Then we get into our coping strategies and "tips/tricks". We note and would like to reiterate that these are things that work for us, and may not for everyone. TW: mentions of mental health struggles and suicidal ideation. VIDEO: This episode will be posted on Youtube (quality will improve and you can see where we have to cut it every ~30 mins or so): linked here! In this episode we spend the first ~20 minutes with a check in and thorough recap of our recent scouting trip to France (as well as a few other life things). Then we get into the topic, which came highly requested from you all, to talk about how we manage our relationship on top of busy careers and schedules. NOTE: We are so sorry but we ran into technical difficulties with the recording for this episode and could not get the video and audio feed to line up in post production. We may try to release full videos in the future if we can figure out a way to streamline it but may also just continue with audio only. Apologies for the false promise on that! In this episode of Streaming Life Through Our Lens, we cover our *pretty big* life decision to move to Europe in 2025. We start with a life check in with each other, address some things we missed in Episode 1, and chat about how we came to this decision. This episode is more about the inspiration, timeline, and how we came to this point - rather than the logisitcs of visas, moving details, etc which we will cover in a future episode.
