Quando ele terminou, mandou eu me calar e me deu um pirulito para eu me conter", diz. Ela veio e começou a pedir para ele me largar.
Skwigly presents Animation One-To-Ones featuring featuring Luzie Lilie in conversation with May Kindred-Boothby, director of the RCA short film 'The Eating of an Orange'. A director, animator and writer based in Bristol, May Kindred-Boothby has worked freelance within animation for around 9 years. Her work focuses on surreal explorations of sexuality and convention, told through a colourful and painterly hand drawn style. 'The Eating of an Orange' is her first directorial short and is currently doing the festival rounds, having recently screened as part of the prestigious Annecy festival with upcoming screenings including INBETWEENS, a celebration of contemporary queer animation taking place July 8th at Bristol's Cube Microplex in association with Bristol Animation Meetup (BAM) and the returning Encounters Film Festival. Tickets available at https://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats-on/the-cube/tue-8-jul-inbetweens-131332#e131332 In a large manor house, identical figures eat the same, move the same, look the same. But everything will change for one woman when she gets given an orange by an unknown figure. She has never seen an orange. In the exploration of this new and exciting discovery, she gets transported into another realm of lichens, slugs and sensuous fluidity. But how can she balance this with the world she knows? She must make a choice: abandon her discovery, or step forwards into a new way of being. INBETWEENS will also screen 5pm August 23rd at Cardiff's Chapter Arts Centre in association with Skwigly and Cardiff Animation Fesitval. Tickets available soon at https://www.chapter.org/ See more of May Kindred-Boothby's work at www.maykindredboothby.co.uk Interview conducted and edited by Luzie Lilie Produced and presented by Ben Mitchell
In this episode of Fine Tooning, Jim Hill and Drew Taylor reunite (despite a case of post-Annecy crud) to cover a wide range of animation and industry news, including: Disney officially announces Lilo & Stitch 2 after the live-action original crosses $945M globally. Elio holds better than expected with a solid second weekend as it climbs past $42M domestically. Live-action Tangled delayed to 2029, reportedly to make room for the Lilo & Stitch sequel. Warner Bros. loses the rights to Akira after years of development—setting the stage for a new studio to reimagine the cyberpunk classic. Laika's ParaNorman returns to theaters for Halloween 2025 as part of the studio's 20th anniversary celebration. Also in this episode: KPOP Demon Hunters debuts at #2 globally on Netflix, Broadway updates on Beauty and the Beast and Hercules, and what's really in those Dragon Flame-Grilled Whoppers at Burger King. It's a shorter episode while Drew recovers—but packed with news, box office insight, and some wild theme park popcorn bucket trivia. Be Our Guest Vacations Planning your next Disney vacation? This interview is part of Freetrail's coverage of the 2025 Western States 100, the most important trail running event in North America. Our shows and athlete interviews are hosted each day by Dylan Bowman who sits down to talk with some of the favorites who are racing this year. In this interview, Dylan talks to professional runner and 2024 UTMB champion, Vincent Bouillard (HOKA athlete & employee) for a pre-race interview. Vincent is joined by his wife and running industry veteran, Kamilah Journet. Vincent won UTMB in 2024 in what many consider the breakout performance of the year. Those who knew Vincent, were not surprised, but most of the trail running world watched along in awe as a humble, longtime HOKA employee ran away with the race and won UTMB. Vincent signed with HOKA as an athlete earlier this year so he can focus more on running, while still maintaining his high powered job. Vincent raced his way into Western States at Chainti by UTMB in March and this will be his first go at the race on Saturday. Kamilah is currently works at Salomon in Annecy, France. It was fun to hear from Kamilah on how things have changed since last August and how they've navigated this exciting time as a family. They share that they are welcoming their first child later this year, which changes how they will navigate life moving forward. Make sure to tune into all of Freetrail's coverage leading into the 2025 Western States. We'll have a live daily show at 3:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of race week before we set our sites on the official broadcast where Dylan will be commentating, and we'll be providing photo and video coverage of the race for the Freetrail social channels. Make sure to follow along here and @runfreetrail on Instagram. Make sure to play Freetrail's own fantasy trail running at https://fantasy.freetrail.com/events and pick 10-deep for Western States. Fantasy winners this week will receive a head to toe trail kit from HOKA as well as other sweet prizes from Freetrail and brand partners like Ketone IQ and Neversecond. Our Western States coverage is brought to you by our good friends at HOKA. We're grateful for their generous support and belief in Freetrail. Make sure to check out the latest and greatest from HOKA, the Mafate X. The Mafate X is all about innovation and pushing past limits. GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/In a peek behind the curtain, James Gunn shared with Rolling Stone this week that the Milly Alcock-lead film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will now just be called Supergirl. This is similar to July's Superman, which started out with the title Superman: Legacy. Gunn shared that he and his team do what he calls “premortems,” where they attempt to suss out issues with projects prior to release rather than reacting on the back end. The shortening of titles has come out of those discussions. In the same article, Gunn got candid about the state of Batman in the DCU and the complexities of navigating the character with Matt Reeves' adaptation in consideration or making it his own. Lastly, Gunn announced today that actor Tom Rhys Harries will play Basil Karlo/Clayface in the film set to be released in September 2026.Live action remakes continue to rule at the box office, with this weekend's How to Train Your Dragon capturing the top spot opening to a global $197 million. After adapting three of Stephen King's horror stories, director Mike Flanagan opted for the author's sweet and life-affirming novella "The Life of Chuck" for his latest film. Film critic Emma Jones tells us why Tom Hiddleston brings a sweet levity to this uncynical life story, told in reverse. We also discuss the latest big budget live action remake as the "How to Train Your Dragon" series gets a 2025 version, and we find out more about the quirky arranged marriage at the centre of "Sister Midnight", an Anglo-Indian production that amused critics at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Plus we get a preview of some of the highlights at this year's animation festival in the French town of Annecy.

Skwigly.com presents Animation One-To-Ones featuring Steve Henderson in conversation with Adam Elliot, director of Memoir of a Snail The now Oscar nominated feature film tells the story of Grace Pudel a book-loving, snail-collecting misfit that falls into a series of misfortunes after being separated from her twin brother Gilbert. Despite her hardships, inspiration and hope arise when Grace begins a friendship with an eccentric elderly woman named Pinky. Anyone familiar with the work of writer, director Adam Elliot from his Oscar winning film Harvey Krumpet or his first feature film Mary and Max, will know that the director has an innate ability to make the unloved subjects of his worlds very much adored by audiences and Memoir of a Snail is no stranger to that formula. Built on a budget that most features wouldn't even begin pre-production with, the film is not only a work of art, but also a labour of love, evident through the writing, construction and all round execution of this sincere work of genius. This interview was recorded the day after it's world premiere at Annecy festival where it got a well earned standing ovation, but we've squirrelled away our chat until now with the hope that after listening you'll all go out and support this film in UK cinemas.
