It is not a secret that "Sexism" still exist. If you're not sure what sexism is, sexism as “an attitude of prejudice or discriminatory behavior based on the supposed inferiority or difference of women as a group” and in Latin culture the concept of "Machismo" is practiced more. Some are women's inferiority and weakness compared to men, women's relegation to roles of wife and homemaker, and sexual power that women possess that makes them dangerous for men. Luis began to notice these differences not only in his home but in school, his community, and began to see how it was even affecting his love relationships, and that's what led him to his life's purpose, which is to eradicate machismo, and to help youth, and men regulate their emotions, have healthy relationships, and find meaning in their life. Laarni was 15 years old when she started to feel the “PULL.” What is 'the Pull?' The Pull is when you realize that what those around you are doing, the lives they are living, the culture or religion, or whatever you were born with is NOT who You are! It's okay for them, but it's NOT a fit for You. The Pull happens when you start waking up to realization of who you truly are and you fight it, because you have ‘been conditioned' to value the love, approval and, validation of others more than yours. This happens because you because no one teaches us how to love ourselves. How to get to know ourselves deeply, from our likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, gifts, shortcomings, and embrace every single aspects our ourselves. This is why we turn to drugs, alcohol, toxic relationships, why we hurt ourselves, develop addictions, and more self harming behavior, because we don't know how to love ourselves, soothe ourselves, and give ourselves what we truly need. That is one of our biggest challenges in life. Learning to love yourself even when others don't love or approve who you are and who we want to be. Selecting what you do will probably be one of the most important decisions of your life, and I don't feel they prepare teens enough to make such a huge decision or huge financial commitment. Choosing what you will do for the rest of your life is so important because you will spend a third of your life or longer at work. This will determine the quality of your life not just in status or financially but it will affect your relationships and your happiness. 88% of Americans report being unhappy with what they do. This just shows you how important it is for you to make the right decision. There are some things that you should consider before choosing a college, degree, trade, or profession. Because going to public college is no longer a luxury, roughly 70% of Americans are going to college, the market is saturated and degrees have lost their value. Most of these colleges and admission reps continue selling Students, YOU, on a dream that is far from the reality. What they don't tell you that college is a business and that your degree is a consumer product. A product you are making a huge investment on that you will be paying for the next 10-20 years, but is it worth it? "I surround myself with hustlers. Wether it's book smart, street smart, whatever. Hard work understands hard work." Da Real Monday wasn't born with a silver spoon. Not even close. He was born into extreme poverty in the hood. Sometimes there wasn't enough to pay the bills, no lights, and some nights having to go to bed with nothing to eat, and worse, finding himself in situations that most of us can't even imagine. So, how did he find his way out? How did he turn his life around for him and his family? Through his writings. He began with poetry and then got into music. Listen to this interview and discover the power in finding your true purpose. Having a purpose gives you direction in life and the strength to overcome the challenges that come your way. This is why I'm disheartened with the current education system that has stripped our youth from everything that matters to them and that is essential for their growth. No Music, No Art and No Physical Fitness or nutrition! No creativity or activities that inspire well being. And then we wonder why anxiety, stress and depression is at an all time high among teens. We wonder why the crime rate is up and 1 out of 5 teens commit suicide in the United States? Honestly, even what happening in the cities in America right now is not because of this one tragic event. It's a build up of dissatisfaction that has been festering for decades. This is where the change we want to see needs to begin.
