We are back with another Thursday edition of The Nielson Show live on Edmonton Sports Talk!   With Dustin Nielson away today, the legend Dave Jamieson steps into the driver's seat alongside the fellas! Dave catches up with the boys before jumping right into the heart of the sports world.   We start the show with some Morning Announcements for Haddies Golf Shop to recap all that transpired last night in the world of sports.   After the break, we got into The Fan Zone presented by Northern Gauge. Who should start in net for the Oilers tonight? The fellas discussed.   We then got Fired Up for Gemco Fireplaces. What were Fired Up today is the Oilers looking for redemption tonight against the Canucks.

We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.    It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.   It's Wednesday, which means Lt. Eric is back with another edition of his Weekly Power Rankings! Today, he ranked the top trade packages Edmonton could offer Winnipeg to land Connor Hellebuyck.   To close out the show, Frank Seravalli stopped by to dissect Tristan Jarry's nightmare opening night performance and weigh in on whether Devon Levi can step up in relief. Seravalli also shared his boldest predictions for the season—including the ultimate landing spot for Hellebuyck—and brought it all back to Edmonton to discuss when Mike Babcock's structural system will finally take hold.   We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff. 

Jamie McLennan kicked off today's show to dive headfirst into the opening night chaos with the fellas! Noodles broke down Tristan Jarry's Oilers debut and questioned whether his early struggles are cause for concern moving forward. He also highlighted Evan Bouchard's historic performance, Connor McDavid's usage throughout the night, and structural shifts from last season. The NHL season is officially underway, but the Edmonton Oilers fall 6-5 in overtime to the rival Vancouver Canucks.   Dustin Nielson and the fellas break down every angle of last night's offensive explosion and defensive collapse. What went wrong in the defensive zone? Who gets the start between the pipes for the next game, and what is the biggest issue Mike Babcock needs to address immediately? Dregs shared his thoughts on how Mike Babcock managed the bench through exhibition play, emphasized why a fast start is critical for the Oilers, and gave a bleak forecast for Vancouver's upcoming season. Bruce Boudreau was the first guest on today's show. He shared his thoughts on the preseason being 4 games now as opposed to being 8. What are his thoughts on this and is it enough time? With the season upon us and him being the former bench boss of the Canucks, we got his thoughts on the Canucks for this season. He was asked to make a list for coaches who he thinks could be hoisting the cup by seasons end which he touched on and then he finished with his thoughts on what Vladdy said yesterday about his contract.   We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta.   After the break, we got into everyone's beefs from the week.   Reid Wilkins capped off the hour with his beef, his thoughts on the Mooses comments from yesterday and who he thinks will be on Hyman & Nugent-Hopkins line at the start of the season. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button kicked off today's show to share his thoughts on new head coach Mike Babcock, highlighting how entertaining the bench boss's arrival has been and will continue to be this season. Craig weighed in on whether Babcock's presence gives Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl an extra boost, and whether a second line featuring Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Ike Howard packs enough punch to keep McDavid and Draisaitl paired together. He then outlined his expectations for the Oilers' bottom-six forward group, breaking down the key traits that make a lower-line unit effective.
