Former NHL goaltender and current TSN analyst Jamie McLennan kicked off the show this morning with a fantastic, in-depth conversation. "Noodles" started by dropping his raw takeaways on both of the NHL's final four matchups before shifting focus to the Metropolitan division, breaking down exactly how head coach John Tortorella has completely moved the needle and changed the culture with his squad this season. With the Eastern Conference Final heading into a raucous Bell Centre in Montreal tonight tied up at one, McLennan mapped out his tactical preview for Games 3 and 4 and highlighted what the Canadiens need to do to protect home ice. Finally, we steered the ship right back here to Oil Country, where Noodles weighed in on the ongoing coaching search and what kind of timeline Stan Bowman is looking at to fill the vacancy. It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day. We then hit MMMMMM That's Good presented by The Italian Centre Shop.
We sit down with Jim McLennan and Jonathon Wescott from The Trout Trust to talk about the future of Alberta's trout fisheries. From fish entrainment and river conservation to advocacy and uniting anglers across the province, this conversation dives into the challenges facing cold-water ecosystems and what anglers can do to help protect them for generations to come. We kick off the show with Jamie 'Noodles' McLennan, who offers a wild perspective on the front-office fireworks in Toronto. Having spent years in that market, Noodles admits he's never seen anything quite like yesterday's press conference 'spectacle.' We then bring the conversation home to Edmonton, where Noodles breaks down the fallout from the Oilers' season-ending availabilities. He weighs in on the clear tension between the players and management, sharing his take on whether 'Operation: Run It Back' is a viable strategy or if a massive roster overhaul is the only way to save the McDavid era. It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day. After the break we got into Weekly Confessions presented by Spectrum Rent All. Plenty of good confessions from the boys today including YouTube Trev's disc gold conundrum. To cap off hour two, we got right into Offseason, What Offseason presented by GCL Diesel. Should Knoblauch be worried about his job? The boys discussed.
Nick Alberga & David Pagnotta break down the latest storylines in Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Then, with the weekend looming, they dive into the latest buzz surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs GM search as the speculation continues to heat up. Plus, Jamie McLennan joins the show to dish on everything.

The headlines are making clear, big and important debates and actions – especially several controversial actions of the Trump administration and its allies — have continued to roil American policy and politics in the New Year. From the health care wars to the widespread immigration crackdowns to a bevy of contentious foreign policy moves, Americans are concerned about the present and future and, in many instances, deeply divided. It’s the kind of moment that keeps political scientists and pollsters busy as they work to assess the state of public opinion and how it's likely to impact voting patterns and upcoming elections, and one especially trustworthy monitor of the situation in North Carolina is Meredith College political science professor and pollster David McLennan. And recently, we caught up with McLennan for an extended interview in which we dug into several of these matters. In Part One of our recent extended conversation with Meredith College political scientist and pollster David McLennan, we examined some of the top issues making political and policy news in the New Year and how they relate to the latest developments we're seeing in American public opinion and voter registration numbers. In Part Two of our chat, we continued this conversation, and looked more closely at some of the most controversial issues – including the Trump administration's national crackdown on immigrants and its controversial foreign policy actions and statements — as well as how these controversies might impact the 2026 elections and, in particular, North Carolina's highly anticipated U.S. Senate race between former Gov. Roy Cooper and Republican challenger Michael Whatley.

To make sense of the recent resurgence in point-and-shoot cameras, we're returning to French philosopher and cultural theorist Roland Barthes! We begin with a conversation about the major technological shifts that have occurred in photography between 1980 (when Barthes published Camera Lucida) and today. Together, she and Marcelle parse Barthes' understanding of what makes photography distinct from other mediums and how Time is entangled with our emotional relationship to snapshots captured on camera. Jonah Sigel catches up with the hosts of TSN 1050's OverDrive: Bryan Hayes, Jeff O'Neill and Jamie McLennan. The conversation opens with Jonah on the road, sharing a quick snapshot of a cross-country drive with his son, before the guys get into what fans really want to hear: how this trio came together, why it worked early, and how it's lasted in a business that rarely allows for long runs. They trace the path from the early TSN Radio days and Leafs Lunch into becoming Toronto's daily drive-time staple, and they walk through the moments, bits and habits that helped define the show. Hayes, O'Neill and McLennan also dig into the real mechanics behind the chemistry: trust, freedom, preparation, and knowing when something is landing and when it isn't. There are plenty of behind-the-scenes stories, plus a candid look at the grind of doing live daily radio through COVID, and how the job has changed in the age of social media and nonstop scrutiny in a market like Toronto. The episode ends the way OverDrive usually does: laughs, gratitude, and the sense that the show is still just three guys talking sports the way fans do. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. NBN host and CanLit fangirl extraordinaire Hollay Ghadery speaks with rob mclennan about his collection of stories, On Beauty (University of Alberta Press, 2024). This contains a provocative collection of moments, confessions, overheard conversations, and memories, both fleeting and crystalized, revolving around the small chasms and large craters of everyday life. Situated at the crossroads of prose and poetry, these 33 vignettes explore the rhythm, textures, and micro-moments of lives in motion. Composed with a poet's eye for detail and ear for rhythm, rob mclennan's brief stories play with form and language, capturing the act of record-keeping while in the process of living those records, creating a Polaroid-like effect. Throughout the collection, the worlds of literature and art infuse into intimate fragments of the everyday. A welcome chronicle of human connection and belonging, On Beauty will leave readers grappling with questions of how stories are produced and passed through generations. About rob mclennan: Born in Ottawa, Canada's glorious capital city, rob mclennan currently lives in Ottawa, where he is home full-time with the two wee girls he shares with Christine McNair. The author of more than thirty trade books of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, his most recent titles include the poetry collection Snow day (Spuyten Duyvil, 2025), A river runs through it: a writing diary , collaborating with Julie Carr (Spuyten Duyvil, 2025),On Beauty: stories (University of Alberta Press, 2024) and the anthology groundworks: the best of the third decade of above/ground press 2013-2023 (Invisible Publishing, 2023). This fall, University of Calgary Press will be publishing his poetry collection the book of sentences, a follow-up to the book of smaller(2022).
