It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers in Global Series, the Elks' game against Winnipeg, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Edmonton Oilers going back to Germany for the 2027 Global Series, and which country the boys would love travelling to to watch the team play hockey. Whether it's actually going to the games in Germany or any of the hockey-mad surrounding countries, there are plenty of spots overseas that the boys would love to go to. Will they be able to convince Jay that this trip needs to happen? We say yes.Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the latest rankings in The Athletic that had the Oilers listed as 31st overall in the league in terms of prospect depth. While some folks were upset about being dead last, the reality is that good teams with Stanley Cup aspirations tend to trade picks and prospects to better the team today. Up next, the guys broke down the clip of Josh Samanski from a German dating show, and how it was an unbelievable clip to watch, especially when you weren't expecting it.Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' game tonight at Commonwealth, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

Fresh off a wild 33-30 victory over Calgary at BMO Field, the 4-4 Toronto Argonauts head west to take on the 6-3 Edmonton Elks in a rare Saturday mid-afternoon matchup. Ben Grant and JB get you set for a fascinating test against one of the CFL's best teams. This week, the guys start with the latest transactions as Toronto makes a couple of moves involving major NCAA programs, bringing former USC defensive back Akili Arnold back into the fold while moving on from former Florida State offensive lineman Darius Washington. Then it's time for a deep dive into late-game clock management. Toronto's final drive against Calgary ended with the win, but did the Argos leave the Stampeders far too much time? Ben breaks down the difference between Clock Preservation Mode and Last Possession Mode, explains when an offence should make the transition, and introduces his formula for determining how much time you should leave on the clock as you move into scoring territory. The guys also tackle one of the biggest questions surrounding the Argos through eight games. Chad Kelly's aggressive style has produced spectacular results, but also plenty of interceptions. This week's Pick Six asks whether Toronto should try to rein him in or accept the turnovers as the price of having one of the CFL's most dangerous quarterbacks. Then it's on to Edmonton. Ben and JB break down the matchup, including how the Argos can prevent Justin Rankin from taking over the game and how Edmonton can use its running backs to put Toronto's defence in conflict. On the other side of the ball, Ben explains why Toronto's receiving corps is perfectly suited for an option-based passing attack and why mesh could be the concept to watch on Saturday. Plus: The latest Injury Report OCDC One Thing Put Me Down for 20 Challenge Flag The Argos are back to .500 and sitting second in the East. Now comes another opportunity to show that the team that emerged from that brutal opening road trip is ready to make some noise in the second half of the season. We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.    It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.   Dave Naylor was the final guest on today's show. He joined us from his backyard before shifting the conversation to the CFL. We discussed whether the Edmonton Elks should be considered Grey Cup favourites, and whether Cody Fajardo's strong play has earned him a spot in the MOP conversation. Naylor also highlighted the remarkable season Vernon Adams Jr. is having, pointing to some of the unique things he's doing on the field that we simply haven't seen before.   We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' troublesome contracts, the Elks' hot run, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about five different stories in Oilers history, and how the boys would rank them in terms of the most consequential stories in franchise history. From Sergei Bobrovsky stealing Game 1 in 2024 to the Griffin Reinhart trade back in 2015 to Zach Hyman getting injured in the middle of a playoff run, this exercise was not necessarily the most fun one to do. Given that there is no Oilers news happening at this point in July, the boys had to get creative with what to talk about for the delicious debate.Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a conversation about the worst contract rankings in the NHKL that were posted by The Athletic last week. For the Oilers, Dom Luczyszyn had both Trent Frederic and Jake Walman listed as the sixth and seventh worst contracts in the league, and the guys gave their take on whether those deals are as bad as they're made out to be.Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' hot run in the CFL, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' schedule, Matt Savoie extension talk, another goalie conversation, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about some of the recent contracts that were signed around the NHL over the last couple of weeks, and wondered how these deal could impact a potential Matt Savoie extension. While there has yet to be any chatter about an extension, it's hard not to think about what Savoie's next deal looks like. Should the Oilers feel some pressure to get something done, given how the rest of the league is adjusting their pricing?Shifting gears, the guys continued with a look at Colton Dach's new two-year contract, and talked about how it's nice that the Oilers have the cap space to get these things done without having to slide in under the cap by the skin of their teeth. From there, the boys did an Oilers schedule review after the NHL dropped the details yesterday, and broke down what it's going to be like when seven of those games are at 9PM or later. Needless to say, this year's NHL schedule is going to be much different than what we've grown accustomed to. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' hot start in the CFL, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a bunch of Oilers stories after what was a very busy start to free agency.
