What a weekend in Oil Country! On today's Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin recap a wild few days that saw the Edmonton Oilers completely change the momentum of their first-round series against the LA Kings. After starting the weekend down 2-0, the Oilers now head into Monday with the series tied 2-2.It all started Friday night when the Oilers dominated the Kings with a 7-4 victory at Rogers Place. Calvin Pickard made his first career playoff start and was huge in the third period to lock down the win and breathe life into the series. Then came Sunday night — a game that will be talked about for a long time in Edmonton. The Oilers mounted a stunning third-period comeback, erasing a two-goal deficit to force overtime. Other teams in this year's playoffs were 25-0 when leading by multiple goals, but not against this Oilers squad. Evan Bouchard was once again the hero with two massive goals to tie it up, before Leon Draisaitl capped off an incredible night with a powerplay overtime winner from his office. We'll break down everything that happened this weekend with our scoring summaries, deliver our One Big Take, and ask the Sherwood Ford Giant Question. Plus, we'll dive into what this comeback means for the Oilers moving forward, and how the LA Kings' psyche might be shaken heading back home for Game 5.Finally, we'll be joined by Oilers colour commentator Louie DeBrusk to get his thoughts on the Oilers' huge momentum swing, the performance of Calvin Pickard, and how confident he is that Edmonton can close out this series for the fourth straight year. You don't want to miss today's show!Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

Friday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded, edited, and is set to massage your ear feelings. On this week's podcast, the guys discussed what needs to happen in Game 3 defensively, Wednesday's loss to the L.A. Kings, and much more. The boys started the Friday podcast with a delicious debate about the Oilers' defensive game and what specifically needs to improve for the team to avoid the chaos that's been happening in their zone through two games. Whether it's better decisions with the puck, supporting each other as passing options, or throwing the puck up the middle of the ice, there are countless ways Edmonton can improve in their zone that should lead to better results. The guys continued the conversation about Game 3 with a look at Calvin Pickard getting the start in favour of Stuart Skinner, and gave takes on whether this was the right decision by Knoblauch. Given that Skinner has allowed 11 goals on 58 shots through the first two games, it wasn't exactly surprising to see the goalie swap for Friday night, but the move is also not without risks. The other angle is that Calvin Pickard played well down the stretch and probably earned an opportunity to get back in the crease. From there, the discussion turned to the opposite end of the ice and what the Oilers need to do to generate more offence than we're seeing. Starting with getting more pucks on net, the Oilers really need to simplify their game and start doing more to make life uncomfortable for Darcy Kuemper. We also discussed the need for more bodies to the crease to fish for secondary chances and greasy playoff-like goals. Much like on the defensive side of the puck, there is a lot of room to improve. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week. Even though the team is down 0-2 in the first round, the ONR squad felt positive despite the circumstances. The question remains whether or not the Oilers feel just as bullish on what they're capable of doing on Friday back at Rogers Place. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On today's edition of Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin break down a rough night in Los Angeles as the Kings dominated the Oilers at Crypto.com Arena, skating away with a 6-2 win and a 2-0 lead in the series.Kris Knoblauch's decision to go nuclear—loading up the top line with both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl—backfired, as the Oilers struggled to generate any sustained offense when their stars weren't on the ice. Stuart Skinner had another difficult outing, giving up five goals on 28 shots before being pulled in the third period in favour of Calvin Pickard. The Edmonton Oilers went into Winnipeg on Sunday night and delivered a massive 4-1 win over the league-leading Jets. It was a complete effort from a team that continues to battle through injuries and adversity late in the season. With home-ice advantage in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs still in reach, the Oilers showed they're not backing down, even without a fully healthy roster. From the drop of the puck, they took control of the game and never really looked back.Scoring came from all throughout the lineup, with goals from Connor Brown, Corey Perry, Adam Henrique, and Viktor Arvidsson. It was the kind of depth production the Oilers will need in the postseason, and last night proved this group can step up when needed. Connor McDavid continued his torrid pace since returning from injury, playing a key role in the team's offensive success once again. He looked confident and dangerous every time he touched the puck. The win also marked the return of Stuart Skinner, who hadn't started since March 26th against the Dallas Stars. He wasn't overly busy, but he was sharp when called upon, stopping 24 of 25 shots and making a strong case to be the Game 1 starter for the Oilers in the playoffs. With Calvin Pickard playing well in Skinner's absence, the Oilers are now faced with a tough but positive decision in net.On today's episode of Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break down last night's huge win with a full scoring summary, their one big take, and the Sherwood Ford Giant Question. They'll also preview tonight's massive showdown against the LA Kings at Rogers Place — a game that has huge implications in the Pacific Division and could be a preview of the first round.Plus, Louie DeBrusk will join the show for his weekly segment to share his thoughts on the Oilers' current injury luck, the team's recent form, and how Jay Woodcroft and his staff might approach the goaltending decision moving forward. Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and ready to help you through the rest of your work week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Wednesday's Oilers game, the What Chaos boys, and much more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Chalmers ignoring the boys regarding the March 18th Oilers game despite being invited by both Baggedmilk and Tyler. For some reason, Chalmers claims he did not notice the missed phone calls or messages but wanted to thank the boys for the gesture anyway.Changing gears, the podcast got derailed by the What Chaos boys after DJ Bean lost his wallet in the podcast studio. After a few minutes of chaos — pardon the pun — DJ found his wallet, and the boys left the studio. What no one expected, however, is that Chalmers used the opportunity to air out a six-year-old beef he has with Pete Blackburn allegedly stealing one of his tweets. As you'll hear, Chalmers may have an argument about his stolen tweet, but the real question is how Pete will respond.Sticking with the topic of fighting, the guys walked through some old fighting stories from when they were younger and how it's incredible that no one had camera phones in those days. Needless to say, if there is a benefit to being older, it has to be that most of our childhood was not captured on social media. Thankfully, those insane memories are gone forever. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys walked through Wednesday's game against the Dallas Stars and how it was an exciting night at Rogers Place even though the team couldn't complete the comeback. Despite a horrible run of luck, injuries, and strong goaltending by Jake Oettinger, the game was all over the map, from excitement to heartbreaking. With the team missing their two biggest stars, other depth players rose to the occasion, including Adam Henrique, who opened the scoring on the power play, and Jeff Skinner, who continued his hot streak by finding the back of the net once again. In goal, Stuart Skinner held his own, making 27 saves on 31 shots to pick up his 24th win of the season. The Oilers controlled most of the game but had to withstand a late push from the Kraken to secure the victory. Now, they'll have a much-needed three-day break before hosting the Dallas Stars on Wednesday at Rogers Place. We'll break down all the key moments in our scoring summary, One Big Take, and Sherwood Ford Giant Question. Plus, we'll be joined by former Edmonton Oiler and current Sportsnet analyst Louie DeBrusk to discuss what he saw from the Oilers without McDavid and Draisaitl, and who impressed him the most in their absence.Don't miss it!Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

The Edmonton Oilers battled hard against the league-leading Winnipeg Jets but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime at Rogers Place. It was a breakout night for Jeff Skinner, as he buried two goals while skating on the top line with Connor McDavid. The game had a playoff-like intensity, with two high-powered teams trading chances all game long.Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the night was McDavid's injury. He left late in the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return, leaving Oilers fans holding their breath. To make matters worse, Stuart Skinner was pulled from the game with five minutes left after a collision in the crease with Gabe Vilardi, forcing Calvin Pickard to come in for relief. In the end, Kyle Connor sealed the win for Winnipeg in OT with his 38th goal of the season. We'll break down all the key moments in our scoring summary, One Big Take, and Sherwood Ford Giant Question. Then, we'll be joined by former NHL defenseman Jason Demers for his weekly Friday hit, where we'll get his take on the game and what McDavid's injury could mean for the Oilers moving forward.Don't miss this one!Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

I may be a day late with the record of this week's podcast, but none of us should be surprised with a name like Better Lait Than Never. On this week's podcast, we're discussing Leon Draisaitl's 50-goal watch, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' heater, line combinations, and more.To kick off this week's podcast, I started with a quick recap of my trip to Toronto from last week, how nice it was to visit that city, and how much I love leaving. There's just something about having a 30-minute cab ride to go four km that bothers me, you know? It's not like we were trying to move around in rush hour — a whole other problem entirely — but instead just trying to get to work quickly without walking everywhere. I also touched on how happy I am that my beloved Vikings won't be touching Aaron Rogers... at least for now.Getting back to the Oilers, I started with a recap of Tuesday's game against the Utah Hockey Club after we got some last-minute tickets and wandered in after the first few minutes. Not only did the Oilers need to blow a team out like that, but it was nice to have a stress-free night at the rink where the outcome was never in question. When was the last time you could say that? Not to mention, being at Rogers Place for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' second straight three-point game was the cherry on top. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about using your speakerphone in public before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails that were as entertaining as they were all over the map. The inbox was so funny again this week, and I got plenty of laughs from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything on your mind over the last seven days.

The Edmonton Oilers delivered a statement win on home ice, crushing the Utah Hockey Club 7-1 in a dominant performance at Rogers Place. The Oilers came out flying, jumping to a 3-0 lead after the first period, and never looked back, extending their winning streak to three games in style. It was another big night for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who picked up three points for the second consecutive game after doing the same Sunday against the Rangers. Mattias Ekholm made his return from injury in a huge way, scoring a goal and adding two assists. Zach Hyman found the back of the net twice, while Viktor Arvidsson chipped in offensively as well. The physicality was there too, as Darnell Nurse dropped the gloves in the first period, setting the tone early.Between the pipes, Calvin Pickard continued his strong play, stopping 29 of 30 shots in another solid performance. We'll break down all the big moments from the game with our scoring summary, one big take, and the Sherwood Ford Giant Question. Then, we'll be joined by our friend Bruce Curlock, who will break down the tactical changes he's seen from the Oilers during this three-game winning streak and what it could mean moving forward. After a rollercoaster four-game road trip, the Edmonton Oilers are back at Rogers Place to kick off a four-game homestand against the Utah Hockey Club. The road trip started on a rough note with losses to Buffalo and New Jersey, but the Oilers managed to salvage it with back-to-back wins against the Islanders and Rangers. Now, they look to build on that momentum in front of their home crowd.Calvin Pickard will get the start between the pipes tonight after an outstanding performance against the Islanders, where he stopped 24 of 25 shots in a crucial overtime win. Another big storyline heading into this matchup is the promotion of Jeff Skinner to the Oilers' top line alongside Connor McDavid, a move that could provide a fresh offensive spark. Additionally, Zach Hyman returns to the lineup after missing Sunday's game against the Rangers, bringing back his much-needed scoring presence. We'll go through our lineup report, game notes, and Sherwood Ford Giant Question, plus break down what this game means for the Oilers as they try to climb the standings. Then, we'll be joined by former Oilers goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who will share his thoughts on Edmonton's improved goaltending and defensive play, as well as Calvin Pickard's clutch OT performance against the Islanders. We'll also wrap things up with our Bet365 Gameday Betting Challenge, where Tyler and Liam give their best bets for tonight's matchup. The Edmonton Oilers continue to spiral ahead of Friday's NHL Trade Deadline, suffering a 6-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Place on Tuesday night. The Oilers have now dropped six of their last eight games, and with time running out before the deadline, serious questions remain about what needs to change.Edmonton actually opened the scoring with a Leon Draisaitl powerplay goal, but things fell apart quickly as they allowed four unanswered goals in the final 8:03 of the first period. Calvin Pickard, making his second consecutive start, was pulled after the first period after giving up four goals on 11 shots. The Oilers never recovered and failed to mount any kind of serious comeback. We'll break down the disaster with our scoring summary and One Big Take, but with the NHL Trade Deadline looming on Friday, the bigger question is: What comes next? We'll be joined by NHL insider Frank Seravalli to preview the deadline and break down what the Oilers could be up to in the next 48 hours.
