Tuesday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited, and is set to massage your earholes. On today's podcast, the guys previewed Game 3 between the Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars, Connor Brown's injury, Viktor Arvidsson, and more. The guys kicked off the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about our favourite memories from the current playoff run. From the way the Oilers bounced back after two early losses against Los Angeles to dusting off the Vegas Golden Knights to Stuart Skinner looking better than anyone expected, there are plenty of fantastic storylines from the first 14 games. As you'll hear, everyone had different memories to share, and it was fun to re-live some of those memories. Looking ahead to Game 4, the boys began the preview by examining what Viktor Arvidsson brings to the table as a replacement for the injured Connor Brown. Coles Notes: We need him to play like the Viktor Arvidsson who annoyed the Oilers for years as a King. We also walked through the new line combinations and discussed whether it makes sense to have McDavid and Draisaitl starting on the same line. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a run of betting talk for our friends at bet365, keys to victory vs. the Stars in Game 4, and offered a few reasons why everyone should believe the Oilers can get the job done for a second straight night on home ice. As you'll hear, the boys feel bullish about the Oilers' chances of getting the job done, but that'll only happen if they can bring the same effort that we saw earlier in the series, even with the win on Sunday afternoon. Mason Marchment’s tap of an official sparks debate over discipline standards, while Mikko Rantanen continues his playoff dominance. The Leafs and Panthers got nasty in Game 3, with questions swirling around OEL’s hit, Domi’s late-game penalty, and whether Matthews is in his own head. Sergei Bobrovsky has locked in after a rough start, and Berube may consider shuffling Toronto’s lines. Stu Skinner gets the start again for the Oilers, who coughed up Game 3 with defensive misplays, while Vegas looks to seize momentum, possibly without Mark Stone. The Oilers earned a 2-0 series lead after winning a wild Game 2 OT thriller over Vegas, with McDavid and Draisaitl quiet until the game-winner, while depth continues to carry Edmonton. In Washington, Logan Thompson shut the door in the third to even the series with Carolina, who now head home to a rink where they’ve dominated all year. Toronto looks to take control of their series in Game 3 vs. Florida, with Nylander continuing his stellar play. Winnipeg hopes for a bounce-back in Game 2 against Dallas after a flat opener, while Mikko Rantanen stays red-hot for the Stars. Elsewhere, Joel Quenneville takes over as head coach in Anaheim, publicly owning his past failures in the 2010 Blackhawks scandal, and in New Jersey, Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald made it clear major roster changes are coming after a disappointing season.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With the Detroit Red Wings season post-mortem well-documented, we take a look at what Steve Yzerman's top priority should be for Hockeytown this offseason: getting scoring help for Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, and Marco Kasper in the form of Marner, Ehlers, Bennett, or Marchand? Defensive support for Mortiz Seider, Simon Edvinsson, and Albert Johansson by way of Gavrikov? Goaltending solution other than Talbot or Mrazek? (4:30) We also take a look at Isaac Howard of the Tampa Bay Lightning and whether he would be worth trading for, or if Danielson, Brandsegg-Nygard, Mazur or others are the solution for the Detroit Red Wings (16:15). Next, a Stanley Cup Playoffs update, including Mikko Rantanen's incredible Game 7 revenge performance, Hellebuyck and the Jets' unexpected goalie issue, Marner and the Leafs beating Tkachuk and the Senators, McDavid, Draisaitl and the Oilers beating the Kings again, the Capitals dispatching Lane Hutson's Canadiens, and Tkachuk and the Panthers making easy work of Vasilevskiy and the Lightning (29:45). On this week's podcast, the guys discussed the Edmonton Oilers' series comeback, what to expect from Game 5, Leon Draisaitl's dominance, and much more. The boys started the Tuesday episode of ONR with a discussion about Rick Tocchet being out as head coach in Vancouver after the team released a statement that said they've parted ways, only a year after he won Coach of the Year. Getting into the regularly scheduled programming, we looked back at Kris Knoblauch's decision not to challenge Warren Foegele's goal in Game 4. As you'll hear, the boys were split on the play.Looking back at Game 4, we started the review by discussing Leon Draisaitl's brilliance. In that stretch, Draisaitl has amassed an unbelievable 35 points. The guys also discussed Evan Bouchard's incredible run of postseason offence, which ranks him second only to Bobby Orr in league history. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a run of betting talk for our friends at bet365, Knoblauch's decision to roll with Calvin Pickard, keys to victory in Game 5, and offered a few reasons why everyone should believe the Oilers can get the job done. Injuries, rest and returns are a league-wide overarching theme as the regular season winds down. Connor McDavid made a surprise return in the Oilers' win over St. Louis, notching three assists including a key play on the game-winner. Edmonton isn’t the same without McDavid and Draisaitl, and getting healthy ahead of the playoffs is crucial. The Leafs dropped a rough one to the Panthers Tuesday, then bounced back against Tampa Bay behind a Matthew Knies hat trick on Wednesday, leading to much discussion about which Florida team the Leafs matchup better against. In Minnesota, a wild 8–7 OT win over the Sharks featured big returns from Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek, and what was probably Marc-Andre Fleury’s final home start. Vegas is also eyeing full health with Pietrangelo and Hague recovering, but Hertl and Eichel’s absences are causing concern up front. Jason Strudwick joins to talk about getting up to game speed for players like Evander Kane and Gabe Landeskog, his concerns about the Oilers' goaltending and how Quinton Byfield could be a difference-maker in this year's playoffs.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
There's nothing quite like a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to wrap up your Tuesday and keep you up to date on all things Edmonton Oilers. We kicked off the Tuesday episode of the podcast with a delicious debate about the team's lack of response to Radko Gudas' dirty headshot on Corey Perry. Given that the team responded relatively lightly to doing nothing after the play, the guys wondered whether or not more should have been done in the moment or afterward. Another angle on the story is how the refs completely lost the plot in Monday's game, and their performance so poorly only contributed to the chaos on the ice. Changing gears, we looked at the last two games the Oilers lost and tried to figure out what went wrong at the end of the road trip. Yes, it's a massive problem that McDavid and Draisaitl are not in the lineup, but the struggle to get goals in the net is a problem the team can't seem to solve. We also touched on Olivier Rodrigue's first NHL start and how it was a big moment for the second-round pick from 2018, even though he didn't get the desired result. The guys also reviewed the latest injury updates for the roster and discussed how it's more important for the team to get healthy than to rush people back. According to Jason Gregor, Stuart Skinner may be the first man back after he started practicing with the team and is targeting coming back this week. Without the team practicing on Tuesday, we don't know the status of the other injured players, so the boys took their best guesses for who would come back first. Finally, the boys wrapped up the podcast with a discussion about Alex Ovechkin breaking Wayne Gretzky's goal record, and how it was pretty fun to see one of the most untouchable records get broken. We also ran through some betting talk for our friends at bet365 that looked at the Oilers' Cup futures as well as Leon Draisaitl's chances to win the Hart Trophy before wrapping up the pod with keys to victory and a score prediction against the Blues. The Edmonton Oilers did in fact, skate away with a victory last night, however they did not come away unscathed as Leon Draisaitl did leave the game with an injury. The Edmonton Oilers picked up a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks last night, with Calvin Pickard earning his 20th win of the season between the pipes. It was a night of key depth scoring, as Connor Brown, Viktor Arvidsson, and Jeff Skinner all found the back of the net to help the Oilers secure two points. The biggest storyline from the game however? The injury to Leon Draisaitl. After taking a number of hits and getting roughed up throughout the night, Draisaitl removed himself from the game in the second period and did not return. With Connor McDavid already out of the lineup, what does this mean for the Oilers moving forward? We'll break it all down with our scoring summary, One Big Take, and the Sherwood Ford Giant Question.Plus, we'll be joined by Dennis Bernstein to preview tomorrow's massive Pacific Division showdown with the LA Kings, as the Oilers continue their push for second place. The Jets have been the model of consistency, with their stars performing and Cole Perfetti emerging as a key piece. Trophy talk: Ray favours Draisaitl for the Hart Trophy as the league's only 50-goal scorer, while Hellebuyck’s case may be hindered by the sheer existence of the Vezina Trophy. Lane Hutson is now Ray’s Calder favourite over Celebrini. Niko Mikkola was fined $5,000 for a dying-seconds slapshot in the direction of Habs' David Savard, what's the likelihood of retaliation in the rematch? Ovechkin’s goal chase has extra cameras and plenty of hype, but Bettman and Gretzky won’t go on tour just yet. NCAA late-season signings! The Capitals inked Ryan Leonard, who may transition smoothly as a middle-six forward. The Blues signed Jimmy Snuggerud, who will debut vs. Detroit despite the potential pitfalls of tinkering with a winning lineup. Then, LA Kings head coach Jim Hiller dives into the Kings’ incredible home record, the impact of offseason additions, and how Adrian Kempe has become a true star. He also reflects on the challenges of taking over midseason, his respect for Kopitar and Doughty, and the looming playoff showdown with Edmonton.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Dallas Stars grab two points in Edmonton — but it wasn't pretty. Ryan, Chris, and James break down a chaotic 4–3 win over the McDavid- and Draisaitl-less Oilers, where Jake Ottinger once again played superhero to bail out another sluggish start. We dissect the game period-by-period: A disastrous first that felt like déjà vu (spoiler: it was), A dominant second led by Jason Robertson and an active forecheck, And a third period that spiraled thanks to brutal penalties, questionable officiating, and coasting Stars hockey. The boys debate whether this team is actually improving or just riding elite goaltending, question the referees' life choices, and discuss what's still plaguing Dallas — zone exits, defensive structure without Miro Heiskanen, and inconsistent effort. Plus: Is it time to worry about playoff readiness? Does Rantanen need new linemates? And why does Corey Perry still haunt our nightmares? Biggest Winner/Loser makes its triumphant return, with praise for Ottinger, Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston — and absolutely no love for the three stars of the game voting. Support Starcastic Remarks! We back with another OU with Nick and Chase (Noah's off crying at the beauty of Canmore like the softie he is) and holy frig if 4 days of comedy on the road is not the best way to prep for a pod! Ol Nicky bad takes was on an all time heater but luckily Chase was ready to carry the podcast and it was very entertaining watching him dummy Nick for an hour and half! But just like the Oilers you can't play great every game and that's why you got teammates! Even though Nick was probably -5 we still escaped with a win and had some great chats about the Oilers play without the big dogs, the bottom 10 activating in their absence and even some March madness chats to close it out! As always like the pod on instagram and come see some comedy shows!
In this episode, Jonny Lazarus joins to preview the Frozen Four, with regional play starting Thursday and the finals leading up to the championship in St. Louis on April 12. The guys also cover Jakob Chychrun's 8-year, $72M contract with the Capitals, Pat Maroon's retirement announcement after winning three Stanley Cups, and the Oilers' concerns with McDavid and Draisaitl both sidelined. Kiefer Sherwood breaks the NHL record for most hits in a season, and they recap the thrilling NCAA Women's National Championship, where Wisconsin's Kristen Simms scored a late penalty shot and overtime winner. Plus, they discuss controversial calls, including an Islanders goalie interference situation and the Hurricanes' helmet blunder. Another Wednesday means another episode of Better Lait Than Never is wrapped up, edited, and ready to get you through what's left of the week. On today's podcast, we're discussing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' heater, McDavid and Draisaitl's injury timelines, the #NationVacation to Vegas, and more.I kicked off this week's podcast with a random collection of topics that have happened since last week, including some of the books I'm reading, trying to learn how to use a 3D printer, and how I'm going to be a fancy boy at the Oilers game tonight. As you'll hear, your boy will be in a game-time situation that has only ever happened once before — or when I snuck in — and I couldn't be more excited.Turning the podcast to the Oilers, I had to start with the heater Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been on over his last four games and how it's so much fun to watch my guy crank it up when the team needs him most. While the start of RNH's season wasn't the most productive offensively, the guy has really turned it on down the stretch. Same goes for Jeff Skinner, who, all of a sudden, has three goals in his last two games after getting bumped up the lineup with Connor and Leon out. Yet, based on the line combos from practice yesterday, our man Skinner could be back to his usual spot on the 3rd line against Dallas. The other story that popped around here this week was the quote from Stan Bowman on Hockey Night in Canada that expressed his confidence in the team's ability to re-sign Connor McDavid to an extension. While Bowman didn't get into any details apart from saying he felt confident they would get it done, the GM's words were music to the fanbase's ears. Sticking with contracts, Jacob Chychrun signed a massive extension with Washington yesterday, which led to a discussion about how that deal will affect Evan Bouchard's upcoming contract negotiations. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about my trip to WEM before wrapping up the podcast with another round of voicemails. While the voicemail was quieter this week, the messages that did get left were very funny and all over the map. As always, finishing up the show with your opinions is my favourite part of the whole thing and something I always look forward to.
Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch joined OverDrive to discuss the headlines around the Oilers, the team's progression with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl's injuries, the timeline to return to the ice, the depth receiving a large opportunity, Evander Kane getting back in the lineup, the Stanley Cup Playoffs' perspective and the approach to the games and more.
Goalie interference controversy returns. Islanders had a potential game-winner overturned in a must-win game against Columbus. Coach Patrick Roy didn’t hold back postgame, questioning the consistency of the rule. Jakob Chychrun secures an eight-year extension with Washington, solidifying his place on a competitive team. In Vancouver, Thatcher Demko’s return sparked a shootout win, raising hopes for a strong finish. With McDavid and Draisaitl sidelined, the Oilers risk losing ground in the division race. Dan and Shawn are first joined by Kim Weiss, video coach for the AHL's Colorado Eagles, to discuss her trailblazing coaching journey, including becoming the first female coach of a North American junior team and now a video coach in the AHL. Later, Kori Cheverie, head coach of the PWHL's Montreal Victoire and assistant coach with Team Canada, talks about her coaching roles, learning from Mike Sullivan and Sidney Crosby, and the growing opportunities for women in hockey. Rosen and Roarke close the show with a look at Alex Ovechkin's chase of Wayne Gretzky's goal record, how injuries to McDavid and Draisaitl impact the Oilers, and a debate on a potential Capitals-Jets playoff matchup.
It's Tuesday afternoon, and a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is set, edited, and ready to massage your earhole. On today's episode, we discussed Evan Bouchard's next contract, McDavid and Draisaitl's injury timelines, Jeff Skinner, and much more. We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about a neighbour in Dan's hood who keeps running his diesel truck for extended periods every day. As you'll hear, the neighbour is clearly trying to troll his neighbours with his vehicle, which led the guys to offer a range of solutions, from calling the bi-law officer to being much more petty than that. As a bonus delicious debate, Tyler wanted to know how the Jacob Chychrun extension in Washington will impact Evan Bouchard's upcoming negotiation. Needless to say, it's going to get expensive. Changing gears, we looked at the updated injury timelines for Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl and how the Oilers will be without their two stars for (at least) the next three games. Given that the Oilers have some winnable games — Dallas aside — over the next week, it's not the worst idea to give the team's two best players a little some extra time to get healthy. The good news, however, is that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has caught fire over the last week or so, and having the secondary scorers start to warm up certainly helps the decision. The tricky part of the situation is that the secondary scorers need to keep chipping in.Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a discussion about Connor McDavid's contract extension after a quote from Stan Bowman on Hockey Night in Canada had the fanbase buzzing. We also walked through some NHL and CFL futures in our betting segment for bet365 before wrapping up the podcast with a round of keys to victory ahead of Wednesday's matchup with the Dallas Stars. It's Tuesday afternoon and we're only a few hours away from the Edmonton Oilers taking on the Utah Hockey Club, which meant there was plenty to talk about on today's podcast. In today's show, we covered the Oilers' modest win streak, Leon Draisaitl's dominance, new line combinations, and much more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the power play and whether it's time for Kris Knoblauch to make some changes with his personnel. As you'll hear, the boys aren't opposed to making player changes, but if Knobby doesn't want to do that, he needs more than one player shooting the puck. Despite having a laundry list of quality shooters on PP1, there are only a couple of players who are willing to fire the puck. From there, we looked back at the Oilers' successful weekend in New York and how crucial it was that they beat both the Islanders and Rangers to wrap up their road trip. For a team that seems to be battling confidence right now, securing those four points at the end of the trip was crucial, especially with the way the L.A. Kings have really started to heat up over the last few weeks. It's amazing what a bad two-week stretch of hockey can do for the standings, right? We also touched on the incredible run Leon Draisaitl is on right now and how his 18-game point streak is not only the longest in the NHL this season but the longest of his career. No matter how well or poorly the team has played this season, the one constant has been Draisaitl's dominance on a nightly basis. In even better news, it looks like Connor McDavid is also starting to heat up after sniping a beautiful shot past Igor Shesterkin on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a random collection of topics, including some betting talk ahead of Tuesday's matchup vs. Utah, what the Oilers need to do on their home stand, and much more. Needless to say, the guys always have plenty to talk about when the Oilers are battling to get back to the consistency that saw them be one of the best teams in the NHL for a 30-game stretch.SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
