There was some actual Oilers news to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a random conversation about woodpeckers attacking Jay's house. Why? It's a fair question given that woodpeckers have nothing to do with the Edmonton Oilers. Getting the podcast back on track, we got into the Oilers talk with a delicious debate about which PTO — Sam Gagner or Brandon Sutter — is most likely to turn their tryout into a contract. Will either of them even make it out of camp? Checking in on some former friends, we looked at the Zack Kassian PTO in Anaheim and Devin Shore landing a one-year with the Seattle Kraken. Seeing former Oilers land in other markets led us to discuss whether or not the bottom portion of our roster will have enough firepower to relieve the pressure on McDavid and Draisaitl to perform. What is a fair season for Nuge? What will Evander Kane do now that he's healthy? How will Connor Brown fare in his first year in Edmonton? Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold performers.Shoutout to the episode's sponsors: Betway: https://betway.com/en/sports Oodle Noodle: https://www.oodlenoodle.ca/ Cornerstone Insurance: https://www.cornerstoneins.ca/ Wilhauk Beef Jerky: https://www.wilhaukbeefjerky.com/Star Mechanical: https://starmechanical.ca/Visit www.nationgear.ca for merch and more.Follow us on Instagram @oilersnationdotcomFollow us on Twitter/Facebook/TikTok @OilersNationReach out to sales@thenationnetwork.com to connect with our Sales Team and discuss opportunities to partner with us! It's Thursday afternoon and the boys have nothing going on, which means there was plenty to talk about on the newest episode of the Real Life Podcast.Kicking off the podcast, the guys jumped in with an extending chat about the #NationVacation to Seattle and how the guys don't believe Chalmers when he says he's coming. While he says he wants to head to Seattle with the boys, the likelihood of him actually getting on that airplane is a completely different story. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys dove into the Evan Bouchard contract news that came down yesterday, and whether or not it was a good enough deal from the team's side given that the player didn't have much leverage in terms of the negotiation. The guys also discussed the Auston Matthews contract extension that came down yesterday, and how that may affect McDavid and Draisaitl's upcoming deals. Does having Matthews come in at $13.25 mean Draisaitl and McDavid have to clear that by a substantial margin? Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a live draft for the Real Life Football pool that happens every year when the NFL gets underway. Hosted on Acast. The boys dive into the rumoured 3.9 million dollar 2 year deal for Evan Bouchard and how the deal basically was forced upon both sides due to cap constraints.  How does the Matthews contract impact what the Oilers end up doing with Leon Draisaitl?  Did the Oilers part ways with Tyler Wright based on his results in the draft or simply because the new boss, Jeff Jackson, wanted his own guy in place? Inside the Numbers for Coolbet Canada take a look at how the numbers on McDavid's next deal won't be impacted by any player in the league now or in league history.

On Tuesday's brand-new episode, the boys breakdown what the future holds for such a young and talented team as the Devils, one in which fantasy hockey GMs should be focusing on for both current and upcoming talent in names like Alexander Holtz, Luke Hughes, and Simon Nemec. Aside from the Hurricanes pushing aside the Devils we also look into the bowing out of the Edmonton Oilers, this time at the hands of the rough-and-tumble Vegas Golden Knights. An historically good NHL regular and postseason, not to mention unreal fantasy hockey stats, is squandered by bad coaching decisions and poor play from goaltending and the supporting cast, meaning Stuart Skinner, Darnell Nurse, Kailer Yamamoto, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and even Evander Kane needed to be a lot better. Ray is back home for a short rest from the NHL on ESPN grind, and Dregs continues his TSN Panel coverage as the guys cover the 2nd Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In Headlines, the guys discuss the Maple Leafs blowing a two-goal lead in a Game 2 loss to the Florida Panthers. Find out why Ray thinks the Panthers were handed a ‘get out of jail free' card, and how the Leafs can prevent more ‘water bottle throwing'.  A rather bittersweet distinction is shared between Joe Pavelski and Leon Draisaitl as they each tallied 4-goals in a loss, the last player to score 4 in a playoff loss was… Ray Ferraro! Ray talks the 4-goal night back in the '93 playoffs, and weighing a personal accomplishment with the team falling short.  The Golden Knights vs. Oilers might be as ‘can't-miss' a playoff series as they come! A goal-filled Game 1, Mark Stone's effect on the Vegas lineup, and Stone's bothersome back injury are discussed as the guys predict a long battle between the Western Conference heavyweights.  Norris Trophy finalists were released this week, the guys compare their votes for the Norris, why they both felt Makar deserved a vote, and the fan-response to their votes.  Kris Abbott joins the show as the Leafs 0-2 deficit shifts their Stanley Cup favourite status, the ever-changing odds to lift Lord Stanley, and Ray explains why road-games have become less of a hill-to-climb. Plus, Draft Lottery odds, the probabilities of the bottom-3 winning, and the potential to bet on an outlier.  In Ask Ray & Dregs Anything, the guys answer YOUR questions every week! Today's episode includes questions on favourite playoff moments, the J.C Tremblay ‘flip' zone entry, and the (near-impossible) likelihood of a team trading the 2023 1st Overall Pick. And, Ray is asked about his Nonna's cooking and the Italian method of measuring.  Follow us here! He was released on Wednesday after posting $100,000 bond. During a brief virtual court appearance, a judge set another court date for May 11. The Edmonton Oilers had a legendary performance by Leon Draisaitl, who scored all four of his team's goals in VGK's opening series win 6-4. But every time Draisaitl scored a goal, VGK had a near-immediate response. After Draisaitl's opening goal, on the power play, VGK's Ivan Barbeshev scored :40 later. Then Michael Amadio, then Mark Stone. Draisaitl went to the trick shot on a goal behind tendy Laurant Brossoit that caromed off the back of Brossoit and into the net. After a scoreless second period, Draisaitl's hat trick goal was met by Barbeshev's second goal - the response just 1:01 after the Edmonton goal. Chandler Stephenson scored quickly after that on a horrible Oilers line change that eventually cost them the game. Jack Eichel added an empty netter when he picked the pocket of Conner McDavid late in the game. VGK's defense played well in spurts - they held the Oilers without a shot for 13 minutes in the opening period and cleared the puck whenever it appeared to be a long Edmonton possession. Chris also talks about the coaching edge for VGK. And we discuss Edmonton marking Mark Stone with repeated cross-checks in his back. FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. It's another episode of The Oil Stream presented by Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. Nielson and Gazzola are ready to get you set for the Oilers and Golden Knights as the puck gets set to drop on Round 2.  The boys start with the NHL completely dropping the ball on scheduling for the second round because the league is an absolute joke! OEG has announced changes for the tailgate party, the Moss Pit and a new viewing area for fans with children, so you know, nobody tries to bite off their kids fingers. For the Boston Pizza Appetizer the boys ask with their be much line matching in this series? Would the Golden Knights want to get Stone and Stephenson out against McDavid and Draisaitl?  If Janmark is ready to go with the Oilers go to 12 & 6 or will they stick to the 11 & 7 which is where Dusty thinks they perform best? Insider the Numbers for Coolbet Canada Dusty takes a look at all of the odds for the Oilers and Knights and points out that Coolbet has the Oilers as the Stanley Cup Favourite heading into the second round.

The Oilers have the opportunity to close out the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night at Crypto.com Arena in Game 6, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a guess at who could be the unsung hero for the Oilers in Game 6 and why we think that player will be the one to step up. Whether it's Mattias Ekholm coming up with a clutch goal, Kailer Yamamoto making an appearance on the stat sheet, or Warren Foegele finding redemption after the physical abuse he took on Tuesday in Game 5, there are plenty of options for Oilers that could step up with a depth marker. From there, we looked at the video that every Oilers fan was talking about from yesterday after TSN's Ryan Rishaug posted a video that made Connor McDavid look like he's injured. While we all agreed that he's probably hurt a little bit, the reason none of us believe he's injured is the fact that he's still practicing. If you remember last year's playoffs, neither Draisaitl nor Nurse practiced at all because of their injuries, which makes us feel that we're probably making too much of a deal about the video. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to make some sense of what's going on around us. Hosted on Acast.
