Ask Dubey Episode 31 is here, and there's a LOT to get into — from historic Oilers defencemen performances to big-picture questions about goaltending, free agents, and life in Edmonton.Dubey kicks things off by showing love to the Oilers' blue line after back-to-back hat tricks from defencemen (yes, really), breaking down Evan Bouchard's Bouch Bombs and Mattias Ekholm's unreal highlight-reel goals. If the Oilers can get even half of this kind of production from the back end consistently, it could be a massive boost heading toward playoff time. From there, Dubey answers your questions, including:• Has Jarry officially earned the Oilers' starting job?• Where does Edmonton's goaltending duo rank across the NHL?• How valuable is having a true goalie tandem in an Olympic, condensed schedule year?• Has Edmonton become a more desirable destination for free agents?• How different is the city now compared to Dubey's playing days?We also get some great storytelling as Dubey shares his most memorable moments as an Oiler, including his NHL debut in Vancouver, a wild win in LA that helped earn a one-way contract, and getting the opening-night start against Pittsburgh. As always, this episode is packed with insight, honesty, and a few laughs along the way.Drop your questions for future episodes using #AskDubey or leave them in the comments below

TSN Hockey Analyst Mike Johnson joined OverDrive to discuss the perspective of the Maple Leafs' losing streak, Auston Matthews' needing to make a statement, Toronto's goaltending's role, the players dressing for games, Evan Bouchard's omission from Canada view, Zach Hyman as a replacement and more.
It's Tuesday afternoon, and there's a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio set, which means the boys were back in the studio to recap the week that was. On today's episode, the guys discussed the Oilers' record-setting run by defencemen, Josh Samanski's NHL debut, and much more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Josh Samanski's NHL debut, and how everyone thought the undrafted centre fared in his first game as an Oiler. While he played only 7:43 in TOI, Samanski was noticeable in his first game in the bigs, and the boys spent a few minutes talking about how he didn't look out of place. Given that he played two years of pro hockey in Germany, it definitely looked like he was comfortable playing in that third-line role.Changing gears, we looked at how the Oilers set two NHL records in Monday's game against the Ducks. Starting with the four goals by defencemen in a span of only 3:49, it was wild to see Edmonton's d-men getting into the rush with that much space as often as they were. From there, we looked at the back-to-back hat tricks by Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm, and how it was the first time in NHL history where two defencemen scored hat tricks in consecutive games. Finally, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Baggedmilk's Trivia. With none of the other boys coming up with anything new, the guys went back to old faithful with a round of Devils-related Baggedmilk Trivia questions. Think you know your San Jose Sharks history? This game was for you. Did the quizmaster have to step in? Did Baggedmilk get his questions right? You'll have to listen to find out for sure. Hosted on Acast. We witnessed history last night! The Oilers scored four goals in less than four minutes all from defensemen. And Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard become the first defensemen in NHL history to score hat tricks in back to back games, wow! We start today's show by briefly recapping yesterday's game, Dusty went to Ikea, and YTT doesn't think Alex Honnold could climb our building. We also dove into Morning Announcements to recap some of the action from last night. After the break, we got right into The Prolux Lighting Morning After Show! In this segment, we took a deep dive into last night's game. What was the key moment, what the super stat and who were the fourth and 38th stars… We then heard from Mattias Ekholm to wrap up hour one.
Craig Button was the first guest on today's show. He first touched on Ekholm and the Oilers making history last night, then touched on Evan Bouchard and the unicorn that he is. Lots of Olympic talk before Craig gave us his thoughts on the Anaheim Ducks and how brilliant Beckett Sennecke is. Craig was absolutely bringing it today, so we finished with his thoughts on the Toronto Maple Laughs… It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day. After the break we got into Weekly Confessions for Spectrum Rent All. What are the fellas confessing this week? And to cap off hour two, we got Fired Up for Gemco Fireplaces! Today we're fired up abut the upcoming Super Bowl Party at Celly's Sports Bar & Lounge.
Tyler and Liam are back to break down the Oilers' wild 7–4 win over their Pacific Division rivals, the Anaheim Ducks, in a game where the blue line completely took over. Edmonton's offense came almost entirely from the defence on Monday night, as Oilers defencemen accounted for six of the team's seven goals in a truly unbelievable performance.Mattias Ekholm led the way with the first hat trick of his NHL career, capping off a dominant night that also made history. With Ekholm's three-goal performance coming one game after Evan Bouchard recorded a hat trick of his own, the Oilers became the first team in NHL history to have teammate defencemen record hat tricks in consecutive games. Tyler and Liam recap the chaotic second period, which saw four goals in just a 3:49 stretch, and discuss how rare — and ridiculous — that sequence really was.The boys also break down Tristan Jarry's night in the crease, as he stopped 36 of 40 shots and made several key saves to keep the Oilers in control during some pushback from Anaheim. They'll discuss what this performance says about Jarry's role moving forward and how the goaltending situation is shaping up during the current homestand.Oilersnation News Director Zach Laing joins the show to share his thoughts on Edmonton's play at home, the momentum they're building, and what he believes the team should prioritize as the trade deadline approaches. Later on, Daily Faceoff contributor Matt Larkin stops by to run through his latest trade board, highlighting which names could realistically be available and how the Oilers might fit into the deadline market. The episode wraps up with What's Trending around the NHL and the world of sports, before finishing with the daily betting picks for bet365.Website: https://oilersnation.com/https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne are joined by Edmonton Oilers analyst and former NHLer Rob Brown (1:07) to chat about Evan Bouchard recording a 6-point night against the Washington Capitals despite the team's continuing struggles on the defence and goaltending sides, the glaring differences between the top and bottom lines, Oilers' needs heading into trade deadline season, Troy Stecher's time in Edmonton vs. in Toronto, and Zach Hyman's chance at becoming a replacement for Team Canada at the Winter Olympics. Then, Nick, Justin and Sam McKee touch on the New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy calling out his forwards and benching his top line for the entire 3rd period in their loss to the Buffalo Sabres, William Nylander addressing and apologising for his gesture towards a camera during the Maple Leafs vs. Avalanche game, and Bryan Rust's elbow on Brock Boeser. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
We start the show with a big question, Are The Buffalo Sabres Good? Sitting third in the Atlantic Division, can the Sabres snap their playoff drought this year?Sticking in the Atlantic, the Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling sitting five points out of the playoffs. Are Toronto's playoff hopes over? The Detroit Red Wings are a team that has surprised with their record so far and with an abundance of cap space could we see the Wings make a big splash before the Olympic Break or at the deadline to vault this team to another level in an Eastern Conference that remains relatively open for the taking? The Boston Bruins continue to hover around the final Eatern Conference playoff spot. Bruins' backup Joonas Korpisalo has been sensational since the beginning of 2026 with a 4-0-0 record, sub two GAA, and a SV% over .940. With Jeremy Swayman heading to the Olympics, could we see more starts by Korpisalo and a tandem forming similar to when the Bruins had Swayman and Linus Ullmark? The Pittsburgh Penguins are giving Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang their storybook farewell. Considered at the beginning of the season as a team that could turn the chapter on their veterans and rebuild, the Penguins currently sit second in the Metro Division and are riding a four-game winning streak.A big question for Penguins' GM Kyle Dubas will be what to do with Malkin? The veteran forward is a free agent after this year but has shown he still has gas left in the tank. With Crosby under contract still for next season, could we see Malkin resign and ride off into the sunset with his long-time teammate or will Dubas look to turn over this team to some of his younger prospects climbing the organizational ranks?Malkin and the Penguins' situation brings up the topic of development and is it better for younger players to grow with other young players and go through those growing pains together or is it better to have a group of seasoned veterans in the room to ease rookies into the league and pass down their wisdom? The Anaheim Ducks have had a rollercoaster season but sit third in the Pacific and are on a seven-game win streak. This mix of veterans and youngsters could be the blueprint for other teams going into a rebuilding stage or trying to breakout from their rebuilds to get back to contention. Evan Bouchard had a monster game Saturday posting six points, including his first ever hat trick in a 6-5 overtime win over the Washington Capitals. How rare was Bouchard's night for NHL defenders?Nikita Kucherov now sits third in NHL scoring and with Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid stealing a lot of the spotlight, it's hard to overlook the Russian winger's impact for the Tampa Bay Lightning who have had a slew of injuries this season yet still sit second in the Atlantic Division. Does Kucherov not get the attention he deserves on a national scale?Pat joins the show for another edition of Buy or Sell: Carter Hart and Adin Hill will be the goalie tandem for Vegas come playoffsVegas to win the PacificA big trade will occur before the Olympic BreakLastly, the guys discuss all the new faces that could be in the playoffs this season and if this parity is good for the NHL or if the parity devalues the Stanley Cup?0:00 - Intro3:15 - Are The Sabres Good?6:40 - Are Toronto's Playoff Hopes Over?11:15 - Red Wings in the Market12:05 - Boston Bruins15:00 - Pittsburgh Penguins15:20 - What Does Dubas Do With Evgeni Malkin?17:15 - Development21:40 - Anaheim Ducks28:00 - Bouchard Hatty35:30 - Nikita Kucherov38:40 - Buy or Sell50:55 - New Teams in the PlayoffsYou can get involved with all the NHL futures action over on bet365 by using the promo code NATION at bet365.comConnect with us on ⬇️TwitterInstagramWebsiteDaily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast. Let's do this! The Cult of Hockey podcast. By the Faithful and for the Faithful. Today Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal digs into the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 win over the Red Wings of Buffalo Game Overview: The Oilers celebrated a satisfying victory, with the team showcasing a solid performance against the Detroit Red Wings. David and Kurt noted that the game felt secure once the Oilers netted their third goal, with the team effectively shutting down any potential threats from their opponents. The hosts emphasized the importance of managing fatigue, especially during back-to-back games, which can significantly affect player performance. Zach Hyman's Comeback: One of the standout performances in the game came from Zach Hyman, who scored a hat trick. Kurt pointed out that Hyman's recent struggles stemmed from a wrist injury sustained during the playoffs last year, which raised concerns about his ability to return to form. However, his performance in this game suggested that he might be regaining his previous prowess. David recalled a moment from a prior game where Hyman demonstrated improved wrist strength, hinting that he could be back to his old self. Hyman's contributions are crucial for the Oilers, especially as the team looks to enhance its scoring depth. The Importance of Team Dynamics: David and Kurt highlighted the synergy between Hyman, Connor McDavid, and Leon Draisaitl, noting how their on-ice chemistry resulted in beautiful plays. One example discussed was Hyman's first goal, which was set up by a remarkable pass from McDavid, demonstrating the patience and vision that elite players possess. This discussion underscored the significance of teamwork and communication in achieving success on the ice. Evan Bouchard's Performance: The podcast also touched on Evan Bouchard's contributions and the criticisms he faces regarding his defensive skills. While both hosts acknowledged his offensive talent, they agreed that Bouchard needs to improve his defensive play, particularly during crucial moments. David recounted a story from Gary Galley about Ray Bourque, emphasizing that great players often take risks to make exceptional plays, which can lead to turnovers. This analogy served to frame the discussion about Bouchard, suggesting that while he may have defensive lapses, his offensive capabilities are invaluable. Conclusion: The Oilers' recent victory showcased not only individual brilliance but also the importance of teamwork and resilience. Zach Hyman's return to form is a promising sign for the team, as is the continued excellence of McDavid and Draisaitl. Additionally, while Bouchard's defensive play may need refinement, his offensive contributions are vital for the team's success. As the season progresses, monitoring these players' performances will be crucial for the Oilers' aspirations.
Boomer, Pinder & Rhett are joined by TSN's Noodles as they dive into Evan Bouchard's blunders in the loss to Buffalo. The guys break down what's going wrong, why these errors keep happening, and ask the big question: when is it panic time in Edmonton?VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/ZgNorWlDTdE#nhl #nhlshorts #nhlplayoffs #nhlpredictions #nhlhockey #nhlpicks #stanleycup #stanleycupfinal #edmontonoilers #edmonton #oilersnation CHECK OUT OUR STUFF ⬇️BARN BURNER MERCHhttps://nationgear.ca/collections/shirts/FlamesnationBARN BURNER SHORTS https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj_bcGtvvo-cW2DHEDZ6dEO5ePDmlhZc9&si=jo8iNGxT4ImhS2Y8

On today's edition of 2 Guys and a Goalie, the fellas recap Saturday night's beatdown over the Winnipeg Jets as the Oilers rolled to a 6–2 win and suddenly looked like the team we expected. We'll catch up, look back at what went right, and once again ask the question… are they officially back? Kass and Gager will weigh in. Then it's on to tonight, where Edmonton looks for some revenge on the Buffalo Sabres. The boys will run through the expected lines, what to watch for, key matchups, and everything you need to know heading into this one. To the Olympics, Dusty asks Kass and Gager about the possibility of Evan Bouchard making Team Canada for 2026. Could he flat out make the team? Would he be an option as the extra man on the roster? Who else would be above Bouchard to make the list? 2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!
Are the Oilers back? That was this first question we asked Craig Button on today's show. And as always, a very educated answer he gave. He then had some choice words for both the Canucks, Flames and the Sabres. Craig finished with his thoughts on Matt Savoie and his ceiling and an update on team Canada's Wold Junior. It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day. After the break we got into Weekly Confessions for Spectrum Rent All. Plenty of good confessions from the boys today. And to finish off hour one we got Fired Up for Gemco Fireplaces. Do you think Evan Bouchard should be on team Canada for the Olympics? The boys discussed.
Tyler and Liam are back to break down the Edmonton Oilers' 6–2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night — a game that featured strong goaltending, scoring depth, and another statement performance from one of the team's rising young stars.Stuart Skinner grabbed the win with another .900+ save percentage, continuing his steady run after a rocky stretch.Matt Savoie stayed red-hot, scoring again to give him three goals in his last two games, while Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard both found the scoresheet as the Oilers' top players kept producing. The bigger story may have been the depth contributions, as Curtis Lazar and David Tomášek each scored to give Edmonton the kind of support they've been missing for much of the season. We'll run through the full scoring summary, break down what clicked, and discuss whether the Oilers are finally turning a corner — and if this team might actually be back.Later in the show, we're joined by DJ Bean to get his thoughts on the win, the team's recent turnaround, and some individual performances that stood out. To close things out, NHL insider David Pagnotta stops by with updates from around the league, including the weekend report that the Oilers and Penguins are not close on a potential Tristan Jarry trade.Website: https://oilersnation.com/https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
