That is on producer Reece and will not happen again I apologize for the impact on your listening! It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' coaching situation, Evan Bouchard's injury at Worlds, the Conference Finals, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not the boys have a problem with the Oilers allowing their players to participate in the World Championships, given what happened to Evan Bouchard yesterday against the USA. While it's definitely unfortunate to see that Bouchard got injured, the boys made a good case for why he should have gone to this tournament, given his hopes of playing for the Canadian Olympic team. Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest news on the Oilers' coaching search, including quotes from Kelly McCrimmon and Bruce Cassidy after they were asked about the situation. Despite Kelly McCrimmon saying the Oilers leaked the story and that they don't want to talk about this any further, Vegas' GM keeps booking himself for radio appearances where he invariably gets asked about it. Needless to say, this situation keeps getting weirder as more details become available. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the conference finals nearly wrapped up, the guys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the Oilers' needs for the off-season, some not, but that's the way things go on the Friday episode of ONR.

The front-office blueprint is officially changing in Oil Country. The Oil Stream is live right here on Edmonton Sports Talk as the fellas react to a massive wave of executive promotions, dissect major coaching friction down in Sin City, and break down a devastating, landscape-shifting piece of injury news that has completely shut down an elite Oilers blueliner's season.   On Today's Show: Stan Bowman Reshapes the Front Office: The Edmonton Oilers got a major head start on restructuring their executive food chain yesterday afternoon, announcing a massive sweep of promotions within hockey operations. Headlining the changes is data guru Michael Parkatti, who gets elevated to Vice President of Analytics and Technology, signalling a massive analytical push for the franchise. Plus, a very familiar local face joins the big club's upper management, with former Edmonton Oil Kings President and GM Kirt Hill being named Assistant General Manager of Player Procurement. The boys break down what this sweeping executive remodel means for the organization's summer philosophy.   The Cassidy & McCrimmon Standoff: Massive waves coming out of Nevada that have major ripple effects right here in Edmonton. Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy didn't hold back during his appearance on Spittin' Chiclets, voicing serious frustration over the organization blocking him from interviewing for open jobs—including the vacancy in Edmonton. Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon fired back with some strong words of his own, and the fellas dive directly into the drama. Does this put Cassidy on the radar for the Oilers down the road, and what does it say about the stability in Vegas? Evan Bouchard   Ruled Out at Worlds: An absolute disaster scenario has been confirmed for the Oilers. Following a terrifying, illegal hit to the head from American defender Ryan Lindgren that left him briefly unconscious on Thursday, Evan Bouchard has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the World Championships. While Stan Bowman provided some comfort by stating the injury isn't as bad as it initially looked, the boys discuss the massive anxiety gripping Oil Country regarding Bouchard's long-term health and his critical recovery timeline ahead of training camp.   NHL ECF Game 5 Tonight: Playoff hockey returns to Raleigh tonight with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line. The Carolina Hurricanes hold a commanding 3-1 series stranglehold and are looking to finish off the Montreal Canadiens on home ice. Can the Habs conjure up some road magic to stave off elimination, or is Carolina punching their ticket to meet Vegas?   So much to dive into in just a single hour! That led Tyler to tell the story about that same friend getting a hole-in-one out in Mundare on a hole that was nearly the same length as the hole as the Ace Race. As you'll hear, the boys wanted to do something fun for the milestone, but the course didn't seem to have anything prepared.Shifting gears, the boys discussed Tyler's second attempt at the Ace Race and gave the boys a quick update on what he has planned for July 13th. Given that he couldn't get the job done last summer, Tyler walked through the adjustments he plans to make ahead of this second attempt to get the job done. Turning back to the Oilers, the boys discussed Evan Bouchard taking a hard hit at Worlds and needing assistance to get off the ice. The sports world is dealing with massive playoff elimination drama, but all eyes in Edmonton are focused on a terrifying piece of news coming out of Switzerland this morning. An absolute nightmare scenario has unfolded overseas at the men's World Hockey Championship... Suiting up for Team Canada in a premier quarterfinal showdown against the United States, elite Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard was forced to leave the game early in the first period. Bouchard was caught by a brutal, high hit to the head from American defender Ryan Lindgren, leaving Bouchard visibly shaken and knocked out on the ice before being helped to the locker room. Lindgren was tossed with a five-minute major and a game misconduct, but the real concern is right here in Oil Country. Coming off a career-high 95-point season, what does an injury of this magnitude mean for Bouchard, Team Canada's gold medal hopes, and the Oilers' critical offseason plans? Is the "meat grinder" in Edmonton about to claim its biggest victims yet? The 2025-26 season hasn't just ended; it has imploded, leaving the Edmonton Oilers at a crossroads that could define the franchise for the next decade. Dusty and Tommy are back to navigate the wreckage of a week that has seen superstars sound the alarm and insiders predict a total organizational overhaul.   The Firing Line: Insider Frank Seravalli has dropped a bombshell, stating it is "more likely than not" that Kris Knoblauch and his entire coaching staff are headed for the exit. We discuss whether Knoblauch is the fall guy for a roster that Connor McDavid called "average," or if a fresh voice is the only way to spark a turnaround. Bowman Under Fire: The heat isn't just on the bench. Many are asking if Stan Bowman has "messed up the trajectory" of this team in record time. With the front office also reportedly up for a "reshape and restructure," we debate if Bowman survives the month or if ownership is ready to hit the reset button on management. The Bouchard Robbery: How does a defenseman score 95 points and not even get a Norris nomination? Evan Bouchard has officially been snubbed from the finalist list (Dahlin, Makar, Werenski), and he isn't hiding his frustration, admitting the omission "stings." We dive into the "defensive narrative" that cost Bouchard a historic honour. "Concerned" & "Average": We revisit the chilling exit interviews from McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. With the core getting older and Draisaitl openly worried about the "big steps backwards," we ask: What is the actual plan to keep #97 in Edmonton past the next two seasons? Roster Post-Mortem: From the Darnell Nurse contract dilemma to the search for an elite goaltender, we look at the "addition by subtraction" moves that Seravalli and others believe are coming. Brace yourselves, Oilers fans. The "patient" offseason Stan Bowman promised might have just been replaced by a summer of absolute chaos.   Dusty and Tommy have tons to discuss, with the fellas sharing some news and notes they picked up around Oil Country...   The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

Host Brenden Escott takes a tour around the NHL playoff landscape and the league's biggest storylines in a jam-packed hockey conversation with the big boss over at SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, Peter Berce. The episode opens in Edmonton, where frustration continues to build after Evan Bouchard was left off the Norris Trophy finalist list despite another elite offensive season from the blue line. Was this simply a stacked year for candidates, or does Bouchard still face hurdles in how his overall game is perceived league-wide? The discussion then shifts to the broader state of the Edmonton Oilers and the mounting pressure surrounding a Stanley Cup-or-bust roster. How much scrutiny should be placed on management and coaching, and just how warm are the seats of GM Stan Bowman and head coach Kris Knoblauch as expectations continue to rise in Northern Alberta? In Toronto, chaos and excitement seem to be colliding at once. The Leafs followed one of the most polarizing press conferences in recent memory — surrounding the hiring of John Chayka and Mats Sundin — by winning the NHL Draft Lottery. The episode explores the public reaction to the moves, the debate now taking place inside Toronto's draft room and whether the Leafs should prioritize organizational need or simply take the best player available with the top selection. The Stanley Cup Playoffs also remain front and centre, with analysis of Montreal's Game 1 loss to Buffalo in the second round. What has stood out about the Canadiens' surprising playoff run, and how critical is it for Cole Caufield to rediscover his scoring touch? Edmonton Post-Mortem: It's been a heavy week of reflection. Reid and Gager recap the "concerned" and "average" comments from the stars and what they signal for the locker room's confidence. The Firing Line: We get into the latest rumblings regarding Kris Knoblauch and Stan Bowman. Tyler Yaremchuk is riding solo today on Oilersnation Everyday, but there's still a loaded guest list as the offseason conversation around the Edmonton Oilers continues.Right off the top, Tyler dives into the debate surrounding Evan Bouchard not being named a finalist for the Norris Trophy. Despite leading all NHL defencemen in scoring this season and putting together arguably the best year of his career, Bouchard was left off the finalist list entirely. Did voters get it wrong? Tyler breaks down the numbers and why many Oilers fans feel Bouchard deserved far more recognition. We'll also have Ryder from The Sauce join the show to discuss the internet chaos surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the NHL Draft Lottery, his thoughts on the Oilers' disappointing season, and what changes need to happen this summer to get Edmonton back into contention. After that, Tyler asks a big offseason question: how likely is it that Tristan Jarry is still an Oiler next season? With declining performance and a hefty contract attached, could Edmonton explore a trade or even a buyout scenario?Later in the show, DJ Bean from What Chaos! stops by to share his thoughts on the draft lottery fallout and how he's handling the Oilers' playoff exit one week later. To close things out, Tyler will go around the NHL with a playoff report and hand out some daily betting picks courtesy of Bet365.

We dive into the "big moment" that set the tone and why the team finally looked like the juggernaut we saw in the regular season. The Goalie Pivot: Connor Ingram returned to the crease and slammed the door with a 29-save performance (0.967 SV%). Was going back to Ingram the defining move of the series? We discuss the stability he brought back to the lineup after the Game 4 heartbreak. Stepping Up: With their backs against the wall, the stars arrived. Leon Draisaitl potted two goals, while Evan Bouchard fueled the offence with a massive three-assist night. We discuss why this version of the Oilers is so hard to beat—and the frustrating question: Why can't they play like this every night? On today's podcast, I talked about the Oilers' recent run of games, the first few games for our new friends, a tough luck run of injuries, and much more.I kicked off this week's episode by diving right into the Oilers talk, starting with Connor McDavid's unbelievable heater that he's on right now. As much as we're lucky to watch Connor's brilliance nightly, seeing him take over games over the last little while has been a true pleasure. I also touched on Evan Bouchard's Norris bid and how fascinating the whiplash can be with him if a game goes off the rails, as it did against Utah. Yet, even with the rollercoaster that has been the 2025-26 season, the Oilers still have a very real chance to get their first division win since 1987.Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about fake spring before closing out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was quieter this week, but I had a great time with everyone's takes landing all over the place. The voicemail is my favourite way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode.
