The Sharks, now hanging by a thread, looked like they couldn't quite meet the moment against a seasoned playoff team. In the West Wildcard race, the final playoff spot appears to be Nashville’s to lose with four games left, though the Kings lurk with an easier schedule and a game in hand. In the East, Columbus may be fading in its chase of Ottawa, where belief is becoming a real factor—Ray noting that if the Sens get even B+ goaltending, their overall strength should carry them.
