Jamie Kocur has had an amazing journey in her life of music. From singing in choirs to getting a music degree from Florida State, to being the musical director for the African Children's Choir, to worship leading, all of it was soundtracked by Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). Along the way, Jamie has some realizations about what is being sung in these songs and struggles with many different things along the way. In this episode of The Church Music Makers Podcast, Craig talks to Jamie about her book, her life and where she's at now. It's a fun and insightful conversation, especially for those who may be wrestling with doubt or struggle with things relating to faith. You can get her book on Amazon or Apple books! As a young boy struggling to find his way through the immense poverty, secrecy and war-time suffering that gripped his life in Northern Ireland, Ray Barnett dreamed of a life of adventure and travel like that of his hero: famed missionary-explorer David Livingstone. As an adult, he has lived that life—leading a human-rights based ministry that has brought hope, healing and humanitarian aid to hundreds of thousands of people across the globe. In his riveting autobiography, *Don’t Tell Me It Can’t Be Done*, Barnett takes readers on a rollercoaster journey through his childhood in the rough, working-class neighbourhood of Killowen—a childhood marked by loss, abuse, learning disabilities, rejection, and the crushing discovery that the family who raised him was not his own.

Born in Portstewart, raised in Coleraine, emigrated to Canada, and travelled to Africa to fight humanitarian battles. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the life and legacy of Ray Barnett. After being told that his mother was killed in 'The Blitz', he found his 'real family', and his developing faith brought him to a ministry which took him around the world; from negotiating with Hezbollah in Beirut to starting humanitarian causes in Africa. Ivan was delighted to welcome him to the 'Thursday Interview' to talk about his book, 'Don't Tell Me It Can't Be Done'.
Today's guest is African Children's Choir tour leader Janelle Hoekstra.
