Andrew is an entrepreneur, writer, game designer and publisher based out of Orlando, FL. He started Atheris Entertainment while still in school at the University of Florida, as a resident company of UF's Gator Hatchery, an on-campus business incubator. Since then, Andrew has worked six Kickstarter campaigns, which have raised a total over over $100,000, and consulted on a multitude of others. Atheris Games, a division of Atheris Entertainment, will be launching White Elephant and Ruins of Mars straight to retail at the end of 2020.
Ready to read something really different? This week in Episode 419, it’s the return of creator Andrew Birkett from Atheris Entertainment, and he’s talking about his first full comic, Sam’s Scams. Sam is a member of the alien race called the Logards, and they have a very different perspective when it comes to the environment than you might expect! Andrew does a terrific job when it comes to writing humor mixed with sci-fi, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy this original and creative book! Be sure to look for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign so you can support and access this great title!

I hope you’re ready for another double-header and Kickstarter week because Episode 376 focuses on two excellent projects! First up are Marc Gaffen and Daniel Govar, two of the creators of Tuskers, a high-quality graphic novel you can now support on Kickstarter. Com! This book is about a herd of orphaned African elephants that must escape their homeland as a vicious poaching militia chases them! We talk about how they brought this story to life as well as what we might expect from them in the months ahead. This Kickstarter has already raised its goal, so now is the perfect time to jump on to get great stretch goals! Then everything wraps up with my discussion about Tokyo Rose: Zero Hour with writer Andre Frattino and Andew Birkett from Atheris Entertainment, who is making this Kickstarter happen! Here's the series’ quick description: “This graphic novel is inspired by the true story of Iva Toguri, a Japanese American woman trapped on the wrong side of the Pacific during WW2!” We talk about how the book came to be, discuss Iva Toguri’s fascinating story, and what other projects we can enjoy from these two creators. It’s an excellent historical story worthy of your support, so I recommend you go to Kickstarter at this link after you listen to our interview!

On Andrew Birkett's premiere as a guest host on TCbH, he talks with the lovely Andy Mazeika all about game design, artwork, networking, and kickstarter. This episode is a little bit different, we'll call it "podeutainment", where I teach a guest (and you) all about the mysteries of Podcasting; or at least as good as I know at this point. Andrew Birkett of Atheris Games has been a long time supporter of The Cardboard Herald. Recently, though, he's been making a big impression in board game media through his own coverage, which can be seen in outlets including Casual Game Insider. Well Andrew is embarking on his own podcasting adventure "Games To Glory" with Cody Thompson of Gold Nugget Games, but first he needs to learn how to podcast! Also lookout for upcoming episodes with Andrew and Cody guest hosting TCbH!TIME STAMPS:00:00:10 - Intro - What's up with this episode?00:03:08 - Games to Glory Podcast00:09:30 - Tip # 1 - Get on twitter / Get involved in communities / Who to follow00:18:12 - Tip # 2 - What kind of mic to get 00:22:10 - Tip # 3 - Sit close to your mic for good sound (with examples!)00:25:55 - Tip # 4 - Gotta get a program to record with00:30:46 - Invitation for listener questions, possible future how-to episodes00:32:17 - Tip # 5 - Manageable Editing / Focus on the core product instead of editing00:37:26 - Tip # 6 - Focus on small, actionable goals and improvements / don't be worried about rough starts00:42:04 - Tip # 7 - What we do for hosting00:46:30 - Atheris rebranding as Atheris Entertainment00:49:55 - Tip # 8 - Where does TCbH's music come from?00:54:01 - Tip # 9 - Most difficult thing about content creation / Sustainability / Being present00:58:30 - Upcoming Atheris Game - Ruins of MarsTotal time - 01:04:20HOT LINKS:Atheris Games - www.atherisentertainment.com/CheapBeats - https://cheapbeatsmusic.bandcamp.comOur Site - www.cardboardherald.comOur Video Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsBLZ33CJXoUffCBF7plpjgOur Twitter - https://twitter.com/CardboardHeraldOur Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=9669551

Richard is joined by Andrew Birkett of Atheris Games. Andrew has been creating games since he was 17 and now 5 years later, he has one campaign successfully funded with Cul-de-sac conquest, and he talks about his latest Game, Mutant Crops. However, it wouldn't be us unless we spoke about Sock Ghosts, T-Rexes and Falling asleep at work. It was a fun chat, and we had a blast. Links of Note.
