Češi na sebe rádi a s gustem zahlížejí a hodnotí sami sebe velmi kriticky. Kdy jindy než na Vánoce si proto připomenout, že jiní nás mohou vidět pozitivně, mít nás rádi a obdivovat se nám. Proč vlastně? Obzvlášť pozoruhodné je takové hodnocení, když nás má rád někdo, kdo ani není migrant a kdo sem pravidelně několikrát za rok přijíždí ze zahraničí jenom a právě proto, že nás má rád. K takovým lidem patří Lužičtí Srbové, náš nejbližší národ. O lásce k Čechům a Moravanům hovoří bratři Lukáš a Jakub Novosadovi v nové epizodě svého sourozeneckého podcastu Hej, Slované s ředitelem střední školy v obci Slepé, s hasičem, náčelníkem lužickosrbského Sokola i velkým sportovcem Janem Hrjehorjem (neboli, jak sám říká, česky Honzou Řehořem).Ten bratrům vysvětlí, že národní obrození u našich sousedů vlastně není u konce, čehož dokladem je to, že intenzivně usiluje převzít z češtiny do lužické srbštiny některá slova, aby ji obohatil, zjednodušil, zbavoval německého vlivu a dále poslovanšťoval. „Moc se mi líbí, že při přímém přenosu sportovního vysílání říkáte, že je to živě. Nebo když ztlumíte telefon, říkáte, že si dáváte letadlo. To musím prosadit. Nebo běžky, protože lužickosrbsky jsou názvy těchto lyží nemožně dlouhé.“ Zato najít, zda lužická srbština nějak obohatila češtinu, se ukazuje být složité. „Možná by to mohl být poliwanc,“ říká Jan. „Jenže to je typ koláče, který u nás nemáme, takže bychom se napřed museli naučit ten koláč,“ podotýká Lukáš.Proč nás Jan má rád? „Protože všichni mí čeští přátelé jsou jako slunečnice. Všichni jste dobrotiví, všichni jste pokorní.“ Lukáše toto hodnocení překvapí, naopak Jakub mu přitaká: „To jsem rád, že tohle slyším, a zároveň nerad, protože když chci Čechy přiblížit balkánským Slovanům, tak nevím, jak to přeložit. V našem smyslu jižní slovanské jazyky pokoru nemají a nepoužívají, to slovo tam zní jako ponížení, ne jako chvála, natož jako něco kladného.“V další části Jan Hrjehor přibližuje svoje české zážitky s českými biatlonovými reprezentanty či vyjasňuje rozdíl mezi českou a moravskou povahou, což Lukáš k nelibosti Jakuba a režiséra pořadu Ondřeje Markuse Zemana poněkud rozporuje. Na závěr epizody Lukáš s Janem přesvědčují Jakuba, kdysi schopného fotbalistu, že by stálo za to podpořit Lužické Srby v jejich národním vývoji a naučit je sport, v kterém by se nehlídce na Němce mohli stát světovou špičkou, přestože zatím tento sport vůbec neznají – a to je nohejbal. Termín „sarajevské safari“ je sice znám několik desetiletí, ale znovu se připomněl v poslední době. Znamená komerční vraždění za bosenské války v devadesátých letech, kdy Srbové umožňovali bohatým cizincům přijet do Sarajeva a za peníze si zastřelit dospělého, za příplatek dítě, zdarma jako bonus starce. Znovu se termín objevil teď, kdy událost začala prošetřovat italská prokuratura a kdy se současně znovu objevilo obvinění srbského prezidenta Aleksandra Vučiće, že se těchto událostí účastnil. Bratři Jakub a Lukáš Novosadovi ovšem tuto tezi v novém díle svého sourozeneckého podcastu Hej, Slované problematizují: podle Jakuba je to klasický spin, který má odvrátit pozornost od aktuálních velkých problémů Srbska, jež čelí nebývalé energetické krizi.To je totiž tak: jediná srbská rafinerie NIS už vlastně není srbská, neboť její většinu Srbové dávno prodali Rusům. To se ovšem nelíbí Američanům, kteří Srbsku dali ultimátum, dokdy musejí rafinerii odkoupit zpět, znárodnit ji nebo pro ni najít jiného kupce, než na Srbsko (respektive rafnierii) uvalí sankce. Ultimátum ovšem vypršelo na začátku prosince, a protože se nestalo nic, rafinerie nesmí vyrábět (taky nevyrábí) a Srbsko jede ze svých energetických zásob. Leč ty mu docházejí, takže hrozí, že uprostřed zimy nebude mít země plyn, benzín ani naftu. Prezident vytváří kouřové clony v podobě vděčných mediálních kauz, aby překryl tento průšvih. Znárodnit podnik ale odmítá, protože by to byl příliš komunistický prostředek. Takže jak situaci shrnuje Jakub: „Srbsko je v aktuní energetické krizi, kterou nemá jak vyřešit.“Zdá se, že Srbové bláhově čekali na to, že se Američané nějak dohodnou s Ruskem na míru nebo příměří v Ukrajině, sankce se zruší a věc se tak vyřeší sama. To se ale nestalo. Proto Vučić přišel s novým řešením: počkat dalších padesát dní. Nezůstává však pouze u tohoto nápadu: při návštěvě v Bruselu navrhl, aby do Evropské unive vstoupily všechny nečlenské země západního Balkánu společně (Srbsko kdysi bylo premiantem, za poslední desetiletí však nevyřešilo jedinou přístupovou kapitolu, takže se bude jenom dívat, jak za dva roky do EU vstupuje Černá Hora – její prezident ostatně do Srbska v reakci na Vučićovo vystoupení ironicky vzkázal, že jeho nápad je skvělý a že se tedy v Bruselu spolu uvidí za dva roky.)Ještě jinak se v Srbsku pokoušeli zavázat si Američany a vyřešit svůj energetický problém: totiž odprodat jim symbol svého ponížení z devadesátých let, budovu generálního štábu v centru města, kterou bombardovalo NATO a která tam poškozená stojí jako památník dodnes. Plánem bylo prodat dům firmě Donalda Trumpa, která by na jeho místě vystavěla2 / 2luxusní hotel, čímž by se uvolnila pozice rafinerie. Jenže i z toho sešlo: Američané vzkázali, že sankce platí, následně Trumpův zeď Jared Kushner, který se o obchod stará, oznámil, že z tohoto byznysu neude nic (v době natáčení epizody ještě nebyla informace známa).Dozvíte se ale další fóry: jak jel Aleksandr Vučić bez ohlášení do Ameriky na party amerického prezidenta a zda mu to vyšlo, anebo ne, anebo jak v Bělehradě přes noc byla tajně zbourána celá městská čtvrť, aby na jejím místě mohly vyrůst luxusní rezorty. Zkrátka podcast, který uvádí věci do nových souvislostí.

V únoru 2025 se na Černém Mostě málem stala tragédie. Pod dvěma chlapci se na rybníku probořil led. Nebýt dvou náhodných kolemjdoucích, děti by se utopily. Udělal bych to znovu, říká Jakub Černý, jehož hrdinský čin ocenil prezident. Hostem Ptám se já byl tatér a grafik Jakub Černý.Prezident Petr Pavel letos 28. října na Pražském hradě udělil medaili Za hrdinství osmi lidem. Vedle vojáků, kteří prokázali hrdinství v boji, ocenil i tři občany, kteří díky své pohotovosti a obětavosti zachránili lidské životy. Mezi oceněnými byli i Jakub Černý a jeho otec Martin Černý. Ti s nasazením vlastního života zachránili z ledové vody dva chlapce, pod kterými se propadl led na rybníce. K incidentu došlo 21. února 2025 na pražském Černém mostě. Jak Jakub Černý vzpomínal v Ptám se já, šel zrovna na metro vyzvednout svého otce, který za ním přijel z Tábora. „Kolem toho rybníku jsem šel nejdřív sám směrem na metro a už jsem viděl, že (chlapci) jsou na kraji. Ale mrzlo, nepřišlo mi to zvlášní. V momentě, kdy jsme se vraceli, jsme si nejdřív všimli toho, že tam lidi postávají kolem a všichni koukají směrem na ten rybník. Takže jsem zavtipkoval a řekl jsem: ‚Aha, tak kluci už se tam asi propadli.‘ A táta se okamžitě rozeběhnul, aby se podíval, co se děje,“ popsal Černý.Chlapci už byli celí ponoření v ledové vodě a hrozilo, že se každou chvíli utopí. Muži neváhali a okamžitě se vydali pro ně. „Bylo to poměrně složité. Led byl poměrně silný, asi ne dost silný na všech místech, takže proto si myslím, že uprostřed se ti dva chlapci propadli. Ale když se táta za nimi snažil co nejrychleji dostat, tak se snažil ten led bořit a úplně mu to nešlo. Měl potom několik týdnů ještě docela dost pořezané ruce a modřiny. Já jsem zkusil trošku jinou taktiku a zkusil jsem se po tom ledu plazit,“ uvedl Jakub Černý. Mezitím se menší z chlapců už úplně potopil pod hladinu. V tu chvíli šlo o vteřiny. Jakubovi Černému se ho ale naštěstí povedlo zachytit a s otcovou pomocí vytáhnout nahoru. „Když jsem ho potom tátovi podával, tak jsem najednou viděl, jak už má úplně modrý obličej, fialové rty. Bylo to fakt děsivé.“Oba chlapce se nakonec podařilo zachránit. „Chodím kolem toho rybníka každý den. A teď, když je dost podobné počasí, jako bylo tenkrát v únoru, tak nad tím přemýšlím hodně často, že by se mi tam nechtělo,“ reagoval se smíchem Černý na otázku, zda by něco podobného udělal znovu. “I try to find places that still carry a bit of this [...] feeling that [...] something might be watching me in the place I try to record, or that I may have some problems with finding my way back from the recording spot. [...] [R]ecording there [gives] a chance to capture this raw energy of nature.” In this episode of Wind Is the Original Radio, the Earth.fm podcast, site curator Melissa Pons talks with Jakub Orzęcki. An acoustic ecologist and field recording artist based in Wrocław, southwestern Poland, Jakub was nominated for the Sound of the Year Awards in 2022, in the category of Best Natural Sound. Jakub has made it his mission to highlight the noise pollution increasingly affecting acoustically sensitive areas, and to archive changes occurring in sonic environments. However, as well as exploring Poland's remote wilderness and underground environments, his work also encompasses the acoustic heritage of the local folklore and traditions which are coming under threat from globalization. With his Polish Soundscapes initiative, Jakub records and assesses the relationship between biophony, geophony, and anthropophony within his homeland's acoustic environment. In their conversation, Melissa and Jakub discuss a novel way of thinking about his field recording work: the notion that different recordings have flavors. For Jakub, this relates to the emotions he feels in the place where they are made - maybe a flavor of adventure (for example, in relation to soundscapes “tied to [an effortful] expedition”), or the flavor of being “the first person in a place for a very long time”. There's even the flavor of preparation and analysis, drawing on “old descriptions of [a] place[,] [...] of settlements that once existed there” and grounded in everything from maps of topography, light pollution, and air traffic to Lidar-based terrain models. Jakub also describes a more primeval flavor - one that comes from respect for, or even fear of nature, and which “mix[es] [...] fascination and unease”. This sonic flavor reminds us that, for most of human history, natural environments were so much more unpredictable, stronger, and powerful than we were, whether in the form of forests, rivers, mountains, or swamps. Capturing that sensation tells us how “small [we] are compared to what surrounds [us]”. They also delve into topics including: ‘Sonic nostalgia': a notion prompted by the disparity between the soundscapes of Jakub's childhood, spent in his mother's picturesque home village, and those he experienced when returning to the same area as an adult. From a “quite simple and [...] even [...] old-fashioned” way of life that “harmonized with [the] forces of nature in a perfect way”, the “sounds of [the] river where [he] played with [his] cousins [and the] beautiful sounds of the hay fields” had been overtaken by quite different sounds generated from the sand extraction sites that the riverbanks had become, while the forests were filled with industrial noise The “hidden critical potential” to field recording, which means it “can be a declaration of [the recordist's] worldview”, akin to a protest song. Jakub explains how a field recordist is able to provide commentary by “reveal[ing] what is in [a particular] soundscape [...], what's disappearing and how human activity shapes it” - in his case, mainly in relation to awareness of noise pollution, but also on broader issues like migration, pandemics, or women's rights A traditionalist worldview - not politically, but one that embraces “a sensitivity to what's being lost” and an “uneas[iness] about the future”. For Jakub, that manifests as a “longing for sounds that are disappearing”, as well as “a quiet sense of anti-consumerism and anti-globalism”, given the way in which transport, industrialization, and tourism can be detrimental to biophony, geophony, and traditional folk sounds Field recording as an act of care for the soundscapes it preserves, which may encourage others to listen more closely to the world around them. But, also, the challenge of finding the time to listen to in the first place - even though slow, intentional deep listening can “sharpen [...] awareness [and] expand [...] [the] imaginations”: ideal responses to challenging times Species' changing behaviors in the face of noise pollution - such as marsh frogs or midwife toads, which are increasingly difficult to hear, year by year; songbirds like blackbirds or nightingales changing the pitch of their calls; or whitetail eagles reacting nervously to loud disturbances The need for a healthy balance between natural sounds, human activity, and modern infrastructure - and the difficulty for enabling these elements to coexist, particularly in countries which, like Poland, are developing quickly, and where governments may consider “[...] noise [...] as a part of progress and development [rather] than pollution”. This despite noise being one of the most prevalent forms of pollution, second only to smoke The increase of sedatephobia - fear of silence - particularly among younger people, who, brought up as digital natives, with constant access to online content, can be made to feel anxious or stressed by quiet environments. A possible outcome of this “is the urge to dominate a space with noises, [...] [such as with the] engines of cars and motorcycles [...] tun[ed] [...] to sound even louder”. This speaks to the influence that education could have upon healthy sonic environments: schools could introduce eco-acoustic ecology, communities set up quiet paths in green areas, and, in the home, parents “teach [their] children to respect quiet places and be thoughtful about noise” Jakub's experience of living with the neurological condition of hyperacusis, which means that particular noises, such as loud or sharp ones, cause long-lasting pain and discomfort in the ears. Yet, in spite of this being so clearly problematic for a sound recordist, Jakub chooses to be thankful, since it has made him “extremely sensitive to [...] everyday sounds” which he never previously gave any consideration to. PREVIEW NATO Dilemma: Responding to Russian Aggression in Estonia (2028 Scenario) Jakub Grygiel Jakub Grygiel's book, If Russia Wins, explores a scenario years from now where Russia takes the city of Narva in Estonia after a frozen conflict in Ukraine.
