“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord...is in his holy temple;the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them.” - Psalms 11:3-4 (NIV)“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it." - Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)In order for relationships to work, we must let the one who designed them define them.“There is a way that appears to be right, butin the end it leads to death.” - Proverbs 14:12 (NIV) All the things that God has for you aren't there to restrict your life. They are there to bless your life.“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35 (NIV)“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?' Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." - Matthew 22:36-39 (NIV) 1. We have a wrong understanding of forgiveness.Real forgiveness is remembering what happened and still having God's peace in your heart.2.) We don't think it's fair.“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?' Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. At this the servant fell on his knees before him. “Be patient with me," he begged, “and I will pay back everything.” The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,' he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” - Matthew 18:21-35 (NIV) 3.) We don't think we can do it.“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” - Matthew 5:43-44 (NIV)A.) Pray for Them“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...” - Matthew 5:43-44 (NIV) “O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. ‘Come,' they say, ‘let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more.' With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you—...Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord... that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.” -Psalms 83:1-5, 18 (NIV) B.) Bless Them"But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” - Luke 6:27-28 (NIV) “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” - Romans 12:14 (NIV) C.) Do Good to Them“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord. On the contrary: ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” - Romans 12:17-21 (NIV) "If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes." -2 Corinthians 2:10-11 (NIV)"so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are very familiar with his evil schemes." - 2 Corinthians 2:11 (NLT)

"The starting point isn't to crack it all open, but to know it's safe to do so." 11:10 Betrayal. "It's such a visceral experience of violation [that the] 'You're dead to me' isn't a choice that's being made, it is as a reaction. It is something I notice after the fact." 13:00 What is Health? "Health is moving from the exaggeration to integration... 16:30 "A lot of times, for 8s, we don't move towards health until we experience pain." 18:05: Boundaries. How much do we put ourselves out there and take the hits? "Endlessly..." We have to decide if we want to become open or closed, and "I want to be really intentional that I am creating myself in [an open] direction..." And that will require "going back in" again and again, even if we don't want to. 21:00: Jim's poem Bless Them and Go On. "We cannot blame or shame them... they carried you to where they themselves could not go. In kindness turn and thank them. Bless them with all your love. Bless them, and go on." An invitation to move towards, rather than we held prisoner by what was behind. 24:40: Physical health is tied to emotional health. Scripture For Today: 1 Thessalonians 5:25 “Brothers and Sisters, Pray for Us!” Pray for Your EnemiesI want to continue to look at some of the other principles in prayer that Jesus taught on during His ministry here on earth. As we move through these next series of teachings, we will see that Jesus taught us to pray for our enemies and for laborers to be raised up for the harvest of souls. We will also see how the Book of Matthew records Jesus' teaching on the “Prayer of Faith” – which is believing you receive WHEN you pray. I Matthew 5:44-45, Jesus tells us for whom to pray. Sometimes, it seems people are in doubt as to who they should actually be praying for (outside, that is, of their own family). But here, we find information that gives us some specific instructions in answer to that question. “But I say unto you, LOVE your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and PRAY for them that despitefully use you and persecute you; so that you may be children of your Father, which is in Heaven. For He makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the just and the unjust.” Do you want to know who to pray for? Jesus said very clearly hear to “Pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you…” Jesus DID NOT SAY to criticize and talk about those who despitefully use you and persecute you. He said to PRAY for them. How many of us are 100% spot on with this verse of scripture? Probably 100% spot on WRONG…I know I have to raise my hand here. Amen! Don't look at me in that tone of voice! Praise God! I can see AND hear you by the Spirit… “Well, brother Bob, in this day and time, in this political climate, in this culture we are living in – EVERYBODY hates Christians and EVERYBODY is doing so much evil and EVERYBODY is so spiteful – you just can't help but criticize the evil we see them doing, promoting and participating in…it is just awful.” I know. I know. BELIEVE ME – I know! Like I said, I've been guilty of this, too. But, as in all things, let's go to the Word of God for our answer to what we should be doing. Have you ever noticed, sometimes, the “TRUTH” hurts? But it is still the TRUTH. And the truth here is the Word of God. So, let's look at it again… “PRAY FOR THEM.” Do you want to “get even?” Do you want to “punish them” for their ungodly conduct and actions? The best way to do that is to PRAY for them! Let's just look at retribution for political activists and politicians that are doing things contrary to the Word of God. The evil and sin they are promoting, etc. If YOU say or do something, that could backfire on you quickly in the natural. BUT – if you pray for them. If you pray to the Father to intervene – you are putting Spiritual forces to work that are more powerful than you could ever accomplish on your own. Amen! Notice the next verse, too: “…so that you may be children of your Father, which is in Heaven. For He makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the just and the unjust.” Jesus is inferring here that, IF YOU ARE a Child of God, you WOULD be doing what He said to do in verse 44. Since you are doing that, God WILL BLESS YOU. But, in blessing you, He will also be blessing the sun to rise on the evil doers. He will bless the evil with rain in due season, etc. But He is not sending it to BLESS THEM. He is sending it to BLESS YOU. Do you remember the parable where Jesus was in the boat sleeping when a storm bore down on the boat and the disciples were worried they were going to sink? In Mark 4:35-41 you can read about it. But verse 36 is the part I want to share. It says, “…and there were other boats with Him.” The boat Jesus was in was not the only one on the lake and in danger when the storm hit. But all of those other boats were blessed when Jesus calmed the sea so HIS BOAT could go to the other shore. This works the same way. When God...

Our prayer lives are often centered around us, but this week we explore not only what it means to really pray for others...but what the world really needs the most. We need to make the spiritual health of others our main priority. Our preaching intern, Jacob Miller, helps us to explore what it means to pray "Bless Them" in a way we may have never considered before.
Let the Children Come to Me MARK 10:13-16 13 And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” 16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
