Paulnot only prayed that they would know God, he prayed that they “may know whatis the hope of His calling”. What is the hope of His calling? It isthe hope that we have because of the calling that we have in Christ Jesus. We're called to salvation. We're called to sanctification. We're called toservice for the Lord Jesus Christ. We are called to live holy lives for Hisglory. With that calling comes hope. When you live for that which is eternalrather than that which is temporal, you are reminding yourself every day, that youhave a hope that's steadfast and sure. You have something to look forward to. Thishope that belongs to our calling is a dynamic force in our lives. It encouragesus to be pure. 1 John 2:28–3:3; "Because when we see Him, we shall belike Him. And every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself even as Heis pure." It calls us to live pure, holy lives. “Be ye holy for Iam holy”, God says to us (1 Peter 1:16). It calls us to be obedient.Obedient to the Lord, obedient to our leaders, obedient to the truths andleadings of the Holy Spirit in our lives every day. It causes us to befaithful. “Moreover, it's required in a steward that he be found faithful”. InLuke 12, the faithful steward was rewarded. God wants us to be faithful. Thishope, this living for that which is eternal rather than that which is temporal, gives us something to live for and to be glorified in Christ for. Which leadsus to the third thing that Paul is praying for: “What are the riches ofthe glory of His inheritance in the saints.” Now this is interesting. InEphesians 1:7 we are told that we havean inheritance in Christ. But now this phrase here in verse 18, does not referto the inheritance that we have in Christ, but to the inheritance that Christhas in us. What an amazing truth that God should look upon us as part of Hisgreat wealth. Justas a man's wealth brings glory to his name, so God will get glory from thechurch because of what He has invested in us. And when Christ returns for us,we shall be to the praise of the glory of His grace. God deals with us on thebasis of our future, not our past. He said to cowardly Gideon, hiding from theMidianites as he was threshing his wheat, "The Lord is with thee, thoumighty man of valor" (Judges 6:12). I can imagine that Gideon lookedaround and said, "Who are you talking to? I'm scared to death." Jesusalso said to Simon, Andrew's brother, "Thou art Simon, you'll be calledCephas”, which means a stone (John 1:42). And as you know, Gideon didbecome a mighty man of valor. And Simon did become Peter, a rock. Myfriend, we live in the future tense even now. And our lives should becontrolled by what we are already in Christ Jesus. Jesus, who for the joy thatwas set before Him, He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). He looked forward tothat day, that wonderful day when He would receive His church, His Bride toHimself. “…just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, thatHe might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, thatHe might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkleor any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians5:25-27). Onthat great and grand day Jesus Christ will be greatly glorified as He receivesHis inheritance. What a encouragement and blessing to know today that you and Iare a part of His inheritance. But even today, as we live for the future, weshould glorify His name! Todaywe should desire to be more like Jesus, and can be by looking unto Jesus, theauthor and the finisher of our faith. Jesus lived for the glory of God and soshould we. Godbless!
Christian-ish | Week 1 What happens when following Jesus leads us out of our comfort zone? What do we do when God's Word feels challenging? Let's find out in this message.
Sarah and JVL go long on the economy, The People, double standards, RFK, and . . . Hamilton. It's a super-sized Secret pod. In the comments, we want you to talk about whether or not the double-standard is real—is it true, as JVL proposes—that voters obsess over Democratic mistakes while waiving away Republican insanity? And if it is true, why is it? Remember: We're not just talking about partisans, but about the generalized broader public. We want to hear your theories.
Hey Friend! Wow, can you believe it is back to school already? We had a very different summer this year, but God's hand was in all of it and I wouldn't want it any other way. If He is in the middle of whatever is happening, there is peace. One of the many things I love about Fall is that even though here in MN things start to die, there is also a new and refreshing energy I feel. I love the crispy air and sweatshirt weather and like it to last as long as possible before the deep freeze, but for me Fall is so abundant. It is a very full season for us with all the garden produce, apple orchard harvest, bear hunting that starts at the beginning of September and then deer hunting. This is when we store most of our food for the year, so it is very productive. We only get bear tags every 6 years and our 15 year old daughter has one this year, so hoping for success for her as this will be her first one. My husband gets pretty excited getting everything ready for the hunt which starts in August. It really is such a blessing for them to get to experience it and I am so thankful they are so well rounded in so many areas of life and have more skills than 95% of their peers. I truly believe they are going to be so much further in life with the every day life they have learned over the years. From how to save on groceries and cook from scratch to hunting for food, processing it all along with all the life skills they learn on a homestead with animals! I am so grateful for all of you that reach out and are loving the podcast and now the instagram content! I am so so thankful for all of you-who knew this would grow so big just a few years ago when I had no idea what I was doing! Just trying to share everything I know to live a simpler life. Sometimes I feel like I'm failing you because I don't have consistent content, but then I remember that I'm doing the Lord's work and I don't have to burn out or give up my values especially after last year and knowing that rest is needed. Thank you for the grace. So this summer we have been getting ready for next Spring as we will have a graduation here for our daughter that is a senior. We have been moving flower gardens(they were full of the most gorgeous flowers along with many thistles and grass that I couldn't get rid of, so we made new garden beds for them. We have been staining and other miscellaneous things around here with the help of many Grandkids we have had over the summer with their daycares being off quite a bit which is fun ~ they just love it here and so fun for them to learn about the animals and milking, gathering eggs and all the fun that happens on a farm. Most of our fencing and barn work is done for now and it helps to have portable electric fencing from premier one. That works so nice for rotating the animals easily and often. There was a time in June when I couldn't get out of bed for 5 days, even lift my phone and I ended up having anaplasmosis, so glad I finally went in. I'm a little stubborn knowing that most viruses they can't do anything for, but after not getting better, I knew it had to be something other than the flu or covid and i didn't even I had been bitten by a deer tick, but I did have several of them crawling on me at different times I hadn't thought much of. That took some time to recover from and then my husband's job unexpected was off work for a while, so he ended up going to a different company putting in natural gas, so there has been alot of change around here. My 15 year old started working in the spring as a phenomenal sourdough bakery that just opened up and she still needs rides, so glad it is only 15 minutes away and our other daughter is working in a kitchen at a resort, so they have been busy girls between working, sports, 2 large lawns they mow and numerous church camps. It was just very different to not see them as much, but I am thankful to have such responsible kids. We have seen God's hand in all the hard things this summer and after testing instagram again for a couple months, my business grew really fast, so I'm working on creating more content to save you money and if you have not already, make sure you are following @claimingsimplicity on instagram. I actually niched down to talking about cooking from scratch and how to cook dinners once a week for under &75 because that is what you wanted more of, so I'm slowly but surely working on some products around grandkids, kids, farm and all the fun that summer brings! Now that we will get back to a semi normal routine, I hope to be back here weekly! As always, please reach out with any topics or questions you have! God Bless you! Have a fantastic week! Monica
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Support our mission to teach every verse of the Bible on video over the next 23 years. Read more about it here: PROJECT23 Our text today is Judges 2:1-3: "Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, 'I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, "I will never break my covenant with you, and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars." But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.'"— Judges 2:1-3 Before judgment falls, God speaks. Judges 2 opens with the angel of the Lord delivering a direct confrontation. It's not gentle. It's not subtle. It's the voice of God reminding His people what He's done—and what they've failed to do. “I brought you out… I gave you this land… I made a covenant…” But then: “You have not obeyed my voice.” This is what makes God's discipline just. He doesn't strike first—He speaks first to ensure we see the connection. He calls us back before the consequences come down. Israel had compromised. They'd made peace with pagan people and their altars instead of tearing them down. They tried to combine obedience with convenient opportunities. But God doesn't bless half-obedience. He confronts it. And now, He announces the result: “They shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.” Simply put: he gives them over to the gods they want and allows their consequences to teach. God is patient, but not passive. He won't force us to obey, but he will let us feel the cost of ignoring him. And sometimes, the thorns in our lives are the result of altars we refused to tear down. What compromise have you let linger? What altar have you left standing? The warning is abundant. The confrontation is just. The invitation still stands. Return. Obey. Tear down what doesn't belong. Do you need to tear something down? Do so, and avoid the consequences and the need to hear God's just voice. ASK THIS: What's one clear instruction from God I've delayed or avoided? Have I made peace with anything God told me to destroy? What “thorns” am I experiencing because of disobedience? What altar needs to be torn down in my life today? DO THIS: Identify one compromise you've tolerated—and take specific action today to remove it from your life. PRAY THIS: God, thank You for speaking before You discipline. Help me hear Your voice and respond with immediate obedience. Amen PLAY THIS: "Holy Spirit."

The whole chapter follows a man born blind who receives sight—the first recorded case of congenital blindness healed. Today (John 9:1–12): Jesus sees him, reframes suffering, acts with a strange sign (mud + Siloam), the man obeys, and his changed life becomes a public witness—even when neighbours doubt.Big IdeaJesus doesn't start with blame; He starts with grace. He reframes suffering from “who sinned?” to “how will God's work be revealed?” He initiates, we respond. Obedient faith doesn't earn grace—it activates our participation in it. A transformed life is a compelling (though not always accepted) witness.PassageJohn 9:1–12 (supporting: Matt 5:38–41; Phil 4:8; Rom 6:23; John 9:5; Gen 3/Rom 8 theme—creation groans).Flow / Movements 1. Jesus sees (v.1) “As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man blind from birth.” Grace initiates (prevenient grace). Our stories begin with His seeing, not our striving. 2. Reframing suffering (vv.2–3) Disciples: “Who sinned—this man or his parents?” Jesus: “Neither… this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” Moves us from fault-finding to grace-seeking; from punitive math to redemptive purpose. 3. Urgency & Identity (v.4–5) “Night is coming… While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”In our shadowed places, the Light aims to reveal God's work—not simply explain causes. 4. Strange means, simple obedience (v.6–7) Spit + mud + command: “Go, wash in Siloam (‘Sent').” He went, washed, came back seeing. Principle: Obedient faith doesn't earn grace; it steps into what grace has initiated. 5. Public fallout (vv.8–12)Neighbours debate identity: “Is this the same man?”The man's clear testimony: “The man called Jesus… I went and washed, and now I see.”Not everyone will accept your change. Live the change anyway.Key TruthsNot blame but glory: Jesus redirects from “why me?” to “watch Him.” (v.3)Law fulfilled by love: From “eye for eye” to mercy (Matt 5:38–41).Grace initiates; faith participates: Jesus saw… then the man went. (vv.1,7)Methods may be odd; the Messiah is sure: Don't stumble over the mud.Witness is visible: A changed life will be noticed—and contested.Applications Trade fault-finding for grace-seeking. Catch yourself when assigning blame (to self or others). Ask: “How might God display His work here?”Name your ‘Siloam' step. What simple, practical obedience is Jesus asking this week? (Apology, generosity, reconciliation, serving, confession.) Do it.Practice your 60-second story. Before: “Here's where I was blind.”Jesus: “Here's what He said/did.”After: “Here's what's changed.”Confront prejudice. Where are pride or assumptions limiting your love? Repent; choose mercy. (Phil 4:8—renew your mind.)Stay faithful when fruit is slow. Not all healings are immediate; not all neighbours believe. Keep witnessing through consistent transformation.#hillschurch #beencouraged #nathanbell #evertonhills #brisbanechurch #brisbane #wesleyanmethodistchurch #hillschurchsermon

Thanks for joining us for a weekly message from DuBois Light & Life Church. Today you will hear encouraging words, worship, and a message. Our goal is that you would find Hope, Healing, and Purpose in Jesus Christ. This week features our VBS program before worship. To Skip to the Sermon; "Everyone Obedient" go to 45:00 mins.
Mark walks us through what it looks like to be obedient to the word of God and how it's not just about "knowing" about God, but doing what He asks us to do.Luke 6:46-49James 1:22-25Psalm 119John 5:39
Being obedient to Christ and going against some of natural human wants and needs can be difficult at times. Espeically, especially if you are on the right path with this and start feeling your worth and value through Christ and the enemy sees it, he knows? shewww girl we then got a target on our back for some stupid enemy schemes and mind games coming our way. Doing what's right isn't always butterflies and rainbows. Doing what's right doesn't necessarily always FEEL good. It isn't always convenient. Its not always comfortable. But it's always going to be used for HIS glory. He always has a plan for us. He always sees the beauty before we do in the outcomes. & that goes right along with our fitness journeys too!
John 7:17 If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. We learn in this verse that there's a prerequisite to knowing and recognizing truth: a surrendered, obedient heart to God. One must be willing to do God's will. Where does such a heart come from? It comes from God. Having ears to hear is a gift from God. It's what makes them learners, disciples, and ultimately is the evidence that one is a child of God. If someone isn't willing to do God's will, then they won't be able to recognize truth when they hear it. The reality is that if self-ambition rules in the heart, then they won't even consider a teaching that doesn't enable or sanction their selfish desires. I've noticed this to be true after teaching for over 50 years. I ask myself, “Why can't this person get the truth or hear what I'm saying?” This explains why. They want to do something that, if they accepted the truth, they couldn't do. The desire or lust for whatever is so strong that they can't tell that what is being taught is from God. In verse 7, Jesus echoed the point, “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.” When Jesus taught, those who didn't want to do God's will, but rather wanted to do their own will, were exposed. The same dynamics occur today. When the truth is presented in words or in example, revelation takes place. For the person who is determined to do what they want, it reveals that one's deeds are evil and the lack of the presence of God's Spirit in their lives. Instead of a recognition of the truth and the goodness of God, out comes hatred toward the truth and those who speak it. Or it reveals one has a willingness to do God's will. They recognize the truth because they are seeking to do God's will. They want to please Him above pleasing themselves. Those who are willing to do God's will are able to receive the message of living to love with Jesus as their purpose in life. Why? Because they are willing to do it. As they do it, they know it is from God because the Spirit of God testifies to them by giving the grace to do it and the joy that accompanies loving with Him. We can thank God that we are willing to do His will. It is because He has loved us in Christ and given us ears to hear and given us hearts that are willing to obey what we learn to be His will. That's the power of a surrendered, obedient heart. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of "giving it forward," so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus. We're so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out Sunday's message!-- SUNDAY'S NOTES --Now Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest and requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus. Acts 9:1-2 CSB I admit that I didn't always hold to this position, for a while I thought it was my duty to oppose this Jesus of Nazareth with all my might. Backed with the full authority of the high priests, I threw these believers, I had no idea they were God's people!, into the Jerusalem jail right and left, and whenever it came to a vote, I voted for their execution. I stormed through their meeting places, bullying them into cursing Jesus, a one-man terror obsessed with obliterating these people. And then I started on the towns outside Jerusalem. Acts 26:9-11 MSGBeing passionately determined doesn't make you wrong, but doesn't make you right either! As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul said. “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting,” he replied. Acts 9:3-5 CSBReal repentance leads to incredible redemption and starts with the recognition that Jesus is Lord. I want you to get up and enter the city. In the city you'll be told what to do next. His companions stood there dumbstruck, they could hear the sound, but couldn't see anyone, while Saul, picking himself up off the ground, found himself stone-blind. They had to take him by the hand and lead him into Damascus. He continued blind for three days. He ate nothing, drank nothing. Acts 9:6-9 MSGYou may manage to minimize or even dismiss the evidentiary truth of God's word, but you will find difficult to quantify and impossible to dismiss the impact of a Divine encounter. “What could I do, King Agrippa? I couldn't just walk away from a vision like that! I became an obedient believer on the spot. Acts 26:19 MSG Obedient surrender is the second step on our repentant journey to restoration and one that can't be overlooked! There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: “Ananias.” “Yes, Master?” he answered. “Get up and go over to Straight Street. Ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He's there praying. He has just had a dream in which he saw a man named Ananias enter the house and lay hands on him so he could see again.” Acts 9:10-12 MSGYou do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Psalm 51:16-17 NLTYou can't earn, but you must turn, if you want to follow your way back to God's great plan for your life!So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Instantly something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he regained his sight. Saul stayed with the believers in Damascus for a few days. And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is indeed the Son of God!”Acts 9:17-20 NLTGod has the miraculous ability to restore our sight and redeem and redirect our destiny and determination. Then Barnabas took him under his wing. He introduced him to the apostles and stood up for him, told them how Saul had seen and spoken to the Master on the Damascus Road and how in Damascus itself he had laid his life on the line with his bold preaching in Jesus' name. After that he was accepted as one of them, going in and out of Jerusalem with no questions asked, uninhibited as he preached in the Master's name. Acts 9:27-30 MSGFor I am the least of the apostles, not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 CSBThe redemptive impact God's love has on a truly repentant heart is the greatest of all life's miraculous wonders! -------------------------------------------------Download the 828 Church app!To view our latest e-newsletter, the Midweek Momentum, and subscribe to our weekly updates, go here! https://linktr.ee/828church

A message from our sermon series Sacred Exhortations - Study in the Psalms. Psalm 100.
“Can you think of a time you knew what the right thing to do was—but didn't want to do it?” (Keep it light or serious—could be anything from eating veggies to making a hard relational decision.) S.O.A.P Scripture. Observation. Application. Prayer Mark 14:32–36 Romans 12:2 Colossians 3:23 1 Corinthians 15:58 Obeservation: What emotions or actions do you notice in Jesus as He enters the garden? How do the disciples respond to Jesus' instruction to “stay here and keep watch”? What do you notice about how Jesus prays—his posture, his honesty, and his surrender? What repeated words or phrases in verse 36 reveal the intensity of Jesus' decision? How would you describe the contrast between what Jesus wanted and what He chose? Application: Where in your life do you feel “pressed” between your will and God's will? What helps you move toward obedience when God's will feels difficult or unclear? How can you begin to practice a posture of “not my will, but Yours” this week? What would it look like to "always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord" in your daily life? Prayer: “Father, not my will, but Yours be done. In the places where I feel pressure, give me clarity and courage. Help me obey—not just in the big moments, but in the daily ones. Worship Leader Taylor Cummings reflects on the worship song “I Give You My Heart,” showing how its chorus captures the call to wholehearted devotion by echoing Jesus' command to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. He encourages believers to make every breath and moment an act of surrender and worship.
This isn't about food. It's about who's leading you. What do you do when obedience looks like failure? Like quitting? Like cheating? In this raw, makeup-free moment, I show you exactly what happened when the Holy Spirit told me to eat something I normally wouldn't, popcorn. Yes, I'm on a carnivore plan. No, this wasn't about rebellion. This was about obedience. This is for the woman who thinks she's failing if she steps outside her plan. For the one who thinks obedience only looks like self-control and restriction. But what if real discipline yields to the Spirit? What if obedience sometimes looks like what others would call “cheating”?In this 11-minute video, I talk about:The difference between being Spirit-led and self-ledWhy God told me to eat carbs (yes, really). What to do when your plan and God's prompting collide. The freedom that comes when you obey even if it looks like failure. This isn't about food. It's about who's leading you. Also available on the podcast.Imperfect. Unfiltered. Obedient.I hope this blesses you.
Father Anthony with Tony, and Cristina gather to discuss the goings on, and people in the Parish. Father mentions the death by suicide of a famous chef and the group chats about celebrities that have recently died by suicide and take note that they seem to have it all, money, success, jet set lives yet clearly something is missing. Father reiterates our need to focus on God to build our lives centered on Him as the world will deceive you and offer you a fleeting life. After Father prays, he turns his focus to St. Bridget of Sweden whose feast day was yesterday. (today was feast day of St. Sharbel). He discusses the history of St. Bridget; her life, her acts, her impact and legacy. Father shares that we need to be honest and speak of the Cross were required to carry as it is a disservice to deny the reality and the challenges that are daily life. St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish
Psalm 144 (The Message)Andrew, Isack, and Edwin discuss to whom the final lines of Psalm 144 really apply in our modern day. The people whose God is the Lord is not referring to geo-political countries, but to Christ's church, the Israel of God.Read the written devo that goes along with this episode by clicking here. This episode introduces the Obedient Critic, a villain archetype rooted in the fear of humiliation and obsession with hierarchy and order. Kristina breaks down how this archetype develops in high-pressure environments where performance and perfection are rewarded—and how it can show up as a moral superiority that isolates the individual from authentic connection. We explore the transformation journey from perfectionist and people-pleaser to the Hero (the Anarchist) and ultimately the Legend (the Equalizer), who is free of internalized hierarchy and embodies true humility and presence.Archetype Breakdown:Pinnacle Villain: The Obedient Critic — uses shame and order to control.Successful Antagonist: The Perfectionist — believes perfect behavior can prevent shame.Wounded Child: The Impostor — feels inherently outside the system.Covert Form: The People Pleaser — overfunctions to relieve pressure and maintain peace.Hero: The Anarchist — dismantles internal and external hierarchy.Legend: The Equalizer — creates belonging through humility and integrity.Key Concepts:The wound of humiliation leads to rigid systems of control. How early childhood environments (e.g. rigid parenting, institutional pressure) shape this archetype. The trap of confusing shame avoidance with moral superiority. Why the Equalizer isn't just rebellious—but relational and rooted.Releasing “obedience to the system” in favor of creating systems rooted in mutual dignity.Case Study: Reddit AITA Post AnalysisScenario: Husband lies about Valentine's plans to be with his abusive mother.Archetypes:Mother = Obedient CriticHusband = People Pleaser (covert)Wife = Anarchist in transitionThemes: Shame, inherited obedience, loyalty vs protection, moral blindness.Referenced Tools:Human Design: Root Center (pressure to act, perform, do)Enneagram: Type 1 (Reformer/Perfectionist)Drama Triangle: Persecutor (Villain), Victim (Wounded Child), Rescuer (Covert Form)Study link: https://www.canonsociaalwerk.eu/1971_stigma/1973%20Rosenhan%20Being%20sane%20in%20insane%20places%20OCR.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.comQuotes:“You are effectively keeping yourself in a toxic system and calling it integrity.”“The Obedient Critic doesn't want connection—they want order.”“Humiliation is the worst possible wound for this archetype. The most irrefutable testimony for the truth of God is a life that has been changed and healed! While Peter and John were addressing the people, the priests, the chief of the Temple police, and some Sadducees came up, indignant that these upstart apostles were instructing the people and proclaiming that the resurrection from the dead had taken place in Jesus. They arrested them and threw them in jail until morning, for by now it was late in the evening. But many of those who listened had already believed the Message, in round numbers about five thousand! Acts 4:1-4 MSGThose who are open to God's voice will hear Him, and those who aren't, won't! The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest. Acts 4:5-6 NLTThe decision to ignore or manipulate God's truth is a form of self-deception with roots in demonic rebellion! Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NLTDenying the truth doesn't make it less true or you less accountable for the consequences of disobedience. They brought in the two disciples and demanded, “By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?” Acts 4:7 NLTThen Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we've done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.' There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:8-12 NLTA man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. C. S. Lewis The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say. Acts 4:13-14 NLT Objections to God's truth and will and fall silent against an honest assessment of His Grace and Glory. What should we do with these men?” they asked each other. “We can't deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. Acts 4:16 NLTFriends, I realize that what you and your leaders did to Jesus was done in ignorance…. Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Acts 3:17 & 19 NLTJustification and pride are the right soil for deception, while humility and repentance are the right soil for a harvest of deliverance and freedom. The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn't know how to punish them without starting a riot. For everyone was praising God for this miraculous sign, the healing of a man who had been lame for more than forty years. Acts 4:21-22 NLTAll the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing was upon them all. Acts 4:32-33 NLTObedient faith in the risen Christ is the foundation for everything God does in and through His people and His church.
