In this message, Pastor Marco talks about how we are becoming a church who is obedient to God's Word. Obedience not only reveals our love for God but it also draws us closer in intimacy with Christ. And the good news is that God has not left us on our own. He's promised the Holy Spirit who helps us listen and obey His commands.

Philippians 2:5-8 - "Obedient to the Point of Death"

“He became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Jesus'entire earthly life was marked by obedience. Hebrews 10:7 says: “Behold, Ihave come to do Your will, O my God.” From Bethlehem to Calvary, Jesuslived in perfect submission to the Father. In the Gospel of John Jesus made itvery clear that He did not do what He Himself wanted to do. He always did whatHis Father told Him to do. He went where His Father told Him to go, and Hespoke what His Father told Him to speak. It is very obvious that Jesus lived alife of submission to the Father. Where Adam disobeyed in a garden, Jesusobeyed in a garden. In Gethsemane, facing the horror of the cross, Jesusprayed: “Not My will, but Thine be done.” What obedience! Notice verse 8 says: “He became obedientto the point of death.” Obedience cost Him everything. Sometimeswe speak casually about obedience, but biblical obedience is often very costly. For Jesus, obedience meant: rejection, betrayal, false accusations, mocking, beatings, crucifixion, and ultimately death. Then Paul emphasizes: “Even the death ofthe cross.” Thecross was the most humiliating and shameful form of execution in the Romanworld. Roman citizens were generally exempt from crucifixion. It was reservedfor the worst criminals, slaves, and rebels. Victims were publicly stripped, mocked, and displayed in agony before the world. My friend, that is the deathJesus willingly obeyed unto—the death of the cross. Deuteronomy 21:23 declares:“Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” Galatians 3:13 tells us: “Christhas redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.”Hebecame that curse for us by hanging on the cross. Jesusdid not merely die physically. He bore the wrath and judgment for our sins—thejudgment we deserved.Isaiah53:6 says: “The LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” 2Corinthians 5:21 says: “For God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” At the cross, Jesustook our place. He suffered the judgment we deserved so that we could receivethe forgiveness we did not deserve. My friend, this is the heart of the gospel. Remember,Jesus chose this. Matthew 26:53 says that He could have called twelve legionsof angels, but love held Him to the cross. The nails did not hold Him there. Itwas the love of God and the love of Christ that held Him on that cross when Hedied. What application does this have for you and metoday? First, we must realize that obedience always involves surrender. Youcannot follow Christ while insisting on your own way and your own will. Jesussaid in Luke 9:23: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himselfand take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Second, true obedience istested when it becomes costly. Anyone can obey when it is convenient. Obediencebecomes real when sacrifice is required. Maybe the sacrifice will involve: ourreputation, our comfort, our popularity, our financial security, our relationships,or our personal plans. When we come to Christ and choose to follow Him, it willcost us something. But nothing we surrender for Christ compares to what Hesurrendered for us!  Thecross changes everything about how we view sacrifice. Paul later tells us inRomans 12:1:“Present your bodies a living sacrifice.” The Christian lifeis not about shallow, convenient Christianity. It is about cross-centereddiscipleship. But here is the wonderful truth: the cross is not the end. Sundaywas coming. Humiliation would give way to exaltation. Death would give way toresurrection. Tomorrow, in Philippians 2:9, we will see heaven's response toChrist's obedience: “Therefore God has highly exalted Him.”  Godbless you and may you have a wonderful, wonderful day!

For years in Nigerian politics, incumbency was seen as almost untouchable. Once you occupied political office, many believed securing another party ticket was only a formality. But the latest APC primaries across Nigeria have challenged that belief, as several serving lawmakers and political heavyweights lost their return tickets despite their influence and political structures. So, what really changed? Has the power of incumbency weakened, or are deeper political forces quietly reshaping the APC ahead of 2027? Today on Nigeria Daily, we examine why many incumbent office holders could not survive the APC primaries and what it could mean for Nigeria's political future.

This week, Pastor Wes walks us through Romans 16:17–20 & 25–27, encouraging believers to stay grounded in the truth of God's Word and be aware of teachings that pull people away from the gospel. As we celebrated Graduate Sunday, we were reminded of the importance of building our lives on the foundation of Christ and remaining faithful in every season of life. Paul reminds the church to stand firm, remain wise in what is good, and trust that God is ultimately victorious over evil. The passage closes with a beautiful reminder that the gospel reveals God's plan to bring glory to Himself through Jesus Christ.Text: Romans 16:17–20 & 25–27 Recorded: May 17, 2026

The punishment for doing so was death. Mordecai appeals to Esther to make an attempt on behalf of the Jews. If the king looks upon her request with favor, they will be saved. If not, she and all her people are dead whether she makes an attempt or not. Esther agrees. She finds favor with the king, and requests that she be allowed to throw a feast for the king and Haman with the intent of exposing Haman.

Text: Acts 5:17-42 In this passage, we see two types of obedience: the first stems from the fear of man and self-made obedience, the second stems from knowing God. In this passage, we learn how Christ has fulfilled our obedience for us, and from that, we get to do because God has already redeemed us. This distinction makes all the difference; the self-made obedience leads to horrible destructions - jealousy, fear of man, and indignation. Obedience to God leads to joy - even in the face of incredible hardship.

What does Florence Nightingale have to do with fascism? More than nursing wants to admit. In this episode of The Gritty Nurse Podcast, host Amie Archibald-Varley and guest Meg Lambrych, RN tackles one of nursing's most uncomfortable questions: why can't nurses criticize Florence Nightingale? She is nursing's most sacred icon — but what if the "good nurse" myth she built has been grooming nurses to accept obedience, silence, and their own oppression for over a century? Beyond this, what happens when we cannot critize the leaders we put in places of power? This is a conversation about nursing, power, and democracy. It is about lateral violence in healthcare, racism in nursing, and the cult of individualism that keeps nurses isolated, exhausted, and politically powerless. It is about what happens to a democracy when citizens — cannot bring themselves to criticize the leaders and figures they have placed into power. Because the conditions that silence nurses are the same conditions that allow fascism to take root. In this episode you will hear about: Florence Nightingale's legacy and why nursing needs to critically examine its own icons The "good nurse" myth and how it has normalized obedience, self-sacrifice, and silence in healthcare The connection between nursing culture, the cult of individualism, and the rise of fascism Lateral violence and racism in nursing and how they are tools of systemic oppression What happens to democracy when we cannot criticize our leaders Why collective power — not individual heroism — is what changes systems Hope as a discipline: what it means, why it matters, and how nurses can lead the way This episode is for nurses who are exhausted but still showing up. It is for healthcare workers who know something is broken and are ready to name it. It is for anyone watching democracy erode in real time and looking for a way to fight back that goes beyond voting. Because hope is not a feeling. Hope is a discipline. And collective power is the only thing that has ever dismantled oppression. However, the words of Saint John Climacus at the beginning of the first chapter indicate that his intention is to address every person who longs for salvation. He says: “The gates of eternal life are open to all. The goal of our life is to follow Christ and to become like Him in His divine love.” The reflections offered here are intended as preparation for formation meetings. They focus on the teaching of Saint John Climacus about the stages of spiritual ascent, which we find in his famous work, The Ladder.

Leviticus 6:8-7:38 | JD Summers Fundamentally, only obedient worship is pleasing to God. Obedient worship honors the authority of God. It upholds the holiness of God and takes the consequences of sin seriously. As we worship corporately, obedient worship also prioritizes caring for the ministers of God. As we seek to live our lives in wholehearted worship to God, let us do so obediently, exalting our Lord in the way he deserves.

Philippians 2:8 Your King Is Obedient When my boys were little, my office was at home. One day, my oldest son decided that he wanted to act out the story of Noah’s ark. He handed out the parts to the “cast.” He was to be Noah, his mom was to be “Mrs. Noah,” and his younger brother would play the part of God. Sometime later, I could hear him calling out, “God? Where are you, God?” Apparently, his younger brother had wandered off, and as younger brothers do, wasn’t following the director’s orders. God wasn’t very obedient that day! It’s stunning to think that God would be obedient to anyone. He created all things. Nothing would exist unless he allowed it to. You and I would not draw one more breath, and the earth would not make one more turn unless God himself allowed it to happen. And yet God humbled himself. Jesus allowed sinful human beings to disrespect him, arrest him, mock him, and harm him. He could have stopped them and dropped them dead in their tracks if he chose to. But Jesus chose something else. To humble himself and be obedient—obedient all the way to death on a cross. How far does your obedience to God go? On our best of days, maybe we can feel good that we were able to show God’s love to someone, to turn the other cheek when tempted to lash out, to turn away from some temptation that allured us. And yet, even our very best days can't free us from the fact that we are sinful in our very nature. And then there are the days when we don’t act our best. Jesus, despite his power and authority, became obedient to the extreme—even death on a cross. Jesus chose perfect obedience to his heavenly Father. Jesus chose willing submission even to sinful humans. He chose obedience all the way to a gruesome and shameful death. Jesus' obedience was never half-hearted or occasional. Because Jesus obeyed, we have forgiveness. Through faith in him, his obedience has become ours. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for submitting yourself to the cross to save me. Grant me faith to grow in setting aside my own desires to serve my God and others. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. When Zion Travails with Pastor Azizah Morrison

Continuing the March focus on the fruit of the Spirit—Faith—this session explores faith as movement: the expression of inward conviction through deliberate obedience.Drawing from James 2:17–18, Hebrews 11:8, and Matthew 7:24–25, Overseer Azizah Morrison teaches that faith is not complete when it is only believed—it must be acted upon. True faith responds to what God has spoken, even when full clarity is not yet visible. This lesson examines the difference between conviction and hesitation, why delayed obedience weakens momentum, and how every act of obedience strengthens faith and establishes spiritual foundation. The accompanying prayer calls for courage to move, clarity to respond, and the removal of fear, overthinking, and delay—so that faith becomes visible through action.

What if the goal of parenting isn't raising kids who always listen…but raising kids who feel safe being fully themselves? In this episode, Kristin shares a realization that stopped her in her tracks: so much of her life has been shaped by the quiet pressure to be liked. To be the nice one. The agreeable one. The one everyone walks away from thinking, “Wow, she's so kind.” From friendships to everyday interactions with strangers, that instinct to make sure everyone feels good about her has been deeply ingrained, and incredibly exhausting. And that realization led to a bigger parenting question: how often do kids learn to people-please because they feel their acceptance depends on it? Many of us grew up believing the highest compliment a child could receive was being called a “good kid.” The obedient one. The easy one. The one who doesn't push back, question, or cause problems. But what if that expectation quietly teaches kids something we never intended, that their job is to make adults happy? In this episode, we unpack the hidden pressure behind being the “good kid” and why prioritizing obedience above all else can sometimes make it harder for kids to develop confidence, boundaries, and trust in their own voice.Kristin talks about:Why the idea of the “obedient child” can be misleadingHow kids internalize the need for approval from the adults around themThe subtle ways people-pleasing starts in childhoodThe difference between respect and complianceWhy it's actually healthy for kids to disagree, push back, and express who they really areHow we can create homes where kids feel safe showing up authentically...even when that's messyBecause here's the truth: our kids are going to grow up in a world where not everyone will like them. And while that's uncomfortable, it's also part of being human. The goal isn't raising kids who never disappoint anyone. The goal is raising kids who trust themselves enough to be who they are, even when it means not everyone approves. And when kids know they're loved exactly as they are, they don't have to spend their lives shrinking themselves to earn it.This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Pastor Hudson reviews the earlier themes of the series: the peril of the past, seen in Lot's wife looking back; the peril of the present, seen in Israel facing the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army; and the promise of the future, which requires faith to see beyond present obstacles. He stresses that before people can move forward outwardly, they must first move forward inwardly—in heart and mind. Using Luke 9:62, Pastor Hudson explains that Jesus' words about putting one's hand to the plow and not looking back speak to focus, commitment, and Kingdom readiness. To be “fit for the kingdom” means being suitable, ready, and well-positioned for God's service. Looking back, carrying too many distractions, or losing focus makes a person ineffective in their calling. He then connects this to the story of the man at the Pool of Bethesda in John 5. The man had been disabled for 38 years and was trapped in a system of false hope, waiting for healing in the water but never experiencing change. Pastor Hudson says the man's real problem was not just his condition, but the system he was stuck in. Bethesda represents the kinds of systems people rely on that actually keep them stuck—socially, emotionally, spiritually, financially, or relationally. A key insight of the message is this: you are not the stuck thing; the system is stuck. People are not defined by their trauma, environment, or condition. God did not create anyone to live in bondage. Pastor Hudson uses the illustration of boots stuck in mud: the person is not stuck—the boots are. The answer is to step out of them. In the same way, believers must step out of mindsets, habits, environments, and patterns that keep them bound. He emphasizes that the miracle for the man at Bethesda was not in the water, but in leaving the water when Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Becoming unstuck is not always dramatic; often it happens through simple but important steps like changing your environment, setting boundaries, changing your mindset, ending destructive relationships, refusing gossip, or breaking unhealthy cycles. The message closes with the acrostic FORWARD: Faithful, Obedient, Resilient, Wise, Aligned, Redemptive, Destined. These qualities describe the kind of life that moves with God. Pastor Hudson's final encouragement is that believers should remain focused, avoid rigged systems and false hope, and keep moving forward because forward is the only direction God is moving.

Financial stress has a way of getting into everything—your sleep, your conversations, your sense of security, and even your peace with God. This devotional opens with an honest picture many people recognize: the cost of living rising, unexpected expenses piling up, and the uneasy feeling that no matter how hard you work or how carefully you plan, you’re still barely getting by. When budgets are tight and debt feels heavy, anxiety can hit fast with a single thought: How are we going to recover from this? What makes the situation even more discouraging is when you’ve tried to do the “right” things—avoiding unnecessary spending, saving where you can, and giving faithfully—yet still feel trapped. The devotional doesn’t shame that struggle. Instead, it reminds us that Scripture takes money seriously and speaks to it often, because finances reveal what we trust, what we fear, and what we serve. Philippians 4:19 offers a steady anchor: God promises to meet our needs according to His riches in Christ. That doesn’t mean believers are guaranteed wealth or a problem-free financial life. But it does mean we are not abandoned. God’s provision is real, and He invites us to live with open hands—using money as a tool rather than a master, practicing generosity with joy, and seeking wisdom to steward what He has entrusted to us. In seasons where money is tight, the devotional encourages a posture shift: from panic to prayer, from striving alone to seeking God’s discernment. Faithfulness isn’t just about giving; it’s about honoring God in the way we save, spend, plan, and respond under pressure. When we ask God to show us where to adjust, to build healthier habits, and to trust His care, we begin to experience His guidance and peace—often one practical step at a time. Main Takeaways Financial pressure can stir fear, but God invites us to bring that anxiety to Him. God doesn’t promise prosperity, but He does promise faithful provision for our needs. Scripture calls believers to steward money wisely, not be mastered by it. Generosity and gratitude are part of trusting God, even in uncertain seasons. Asking God for wisdom can lead to practical changes that reduce stress and honor Him. Today’s Bible Verse And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19 Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Show us areas where we can improve… Grant us ways to foster healthy habits with our income… as we give, save, and spend wisely.” You can listen to the full prayer here, or read the prayer and devotional at the links below. We live in a culture obsessed with vision boards, goal-setting, and manifesting the next best version of ourselves. But what if God isn't asking you to envision your future. What if He's asking you to obey Him today? In this solo episode, Brittany shares what the Lord has been gently convicting her of in this season: that vision without obedience can quietly become control, and that following Jesus often looks far less aesthetic than we expect. From stepping away for a season of rest, to wrestling with comparison in ministry, to learning the beauty of quiet obedience, this episode is an invitation to lay down our plans and pick up our yes. Brittany opens up about hidden seasons, surrendering desires, and why God rarely gives us the full picture… but always gives us exactly what we need. If you've ever felt pressure to have it all mapped out, struggled with comparison, or found yourself asking God to bless plans He never authored, this episode is for you. You don't need another vision board, you need to be obedient. In this episode, we talk about: why vision boards aren't bad, but can be a form of control the danger of turning our relationship with God into something transactional how comparison in ministry can mute the voice God gave you why God often speaks in steps, not summaries the purpose of hidden seasons and private obedience choosing gratitude over future potential what it really means to surrender, die to self, and follow Jesus learning to say, “If not — God is still good” Connect with Brittany Dawn and the SLF Podcast: SLF Instagram: www.instagram.com/shelivesfreed Brittany's Instagram: www.instagram.com/realbrittanydawn Learn more about your ad choices. In spite of our broken world, the existence of evil, the presence of sin, and our own mistakes, God is faithful. His redemptive power is sufficient to rescue us from any damaged situation. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses obedience to God's purposes and the reality of living our lives as advocates of Jesus. We learn from the Apostle Paul that no matter our circumstances or the hardships we deal with, we can be content under the Lord's spiritual protection. We will face disappointments, but we can rest in the truth that God is faithful to those who seek Him.
