Susan Daffron talks to Sansa Collins from Sanctuary One in Oregon. Sanctuary One is a Care Farm, a type of shelter more commonly found in the UK and Europe. In fact Double Oak Farm is the first such shelter in the United States. Sansa describes it as a working farm where people, animals and the earth are brought together for mutual healing. Bubba is about four years old, a beautiful orange and white tabby with perhaps a trace of Abyssinian. He has a sweet disposition, and is very loving with people of all ages. He's friendly with other cats and not too bad with dogs after the initial meeting. Bubba was transferred to the farm from the Rogue Valley Humane Society. It appears that he was hit by a car at some point, since he has a pelvis fracture that rehealed on its own. When he first arrived at Sanctuary One, Bubba dragged his back right leg, but a combination of diet and minor treatment has done wonders (he's on a wet cat food only diet and will continue to require a mild laxative). Bubba can now use his leg, and is a very active kitty. His perfect forever home includes indoor accommodations and a little extra care, but Bubba the super love bug would be a welcome addition to any family! Film star and animal advocate Tippi Hedren joins Jon Patch to talk about recent events in Ohio where exotic pets were released into the public. Animal rights advocates agreed there was little local authorities could have done to save the dangerous creatures once they began roaming the countryside after their owner released them. Tippi began her long love affair with wild animals in 1969 while doing a film, Satan's Harvest, in Africa. She "met" a mellow lion, and much of her life since then has been devoted to the big cats. Deeply involved with international conservation groups to save wildlife, and an outspoken voice against cruelty to animals, both wild and domestic, she's a board member of "The Wildlife Safari", founded by her friend, Frank Hart, in Winston, Oregon. Jenna Morasca is an actress, former swimsuit model and American reality TV contestant who was the million-dollar grand prize winner of Survivor: The Amazon and previously worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Ethan Zohn is an American reality television series contestant who won $1,000,000 on Survivor: Africa, the third season of the reality TV series Survivor. Zohn also appeared on the All-Stars edition of the show. After winning Survivor he co-founded Grassroot Soccer, which uses soccer to raise money and awareness to fight HIV/AIDS. On August 20, 2008, he began a 500-mile soccer dribble from Foxboro, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C. for that cause.
