On the evening of January 27, 2001, Roxana Verona arrived at the Etna, NH home of her friends Half and Susanne Zantop for a dinner the couple had planned with friends that night. When no one answered the door, Verona entered the home and found the brutalized bodies of Half and Susanne, both dead from multiple stab wounds. The murder of the Zantops shocked the tiny community of Etna and the faculty and students of Dartmouth College, where the couple worked at the time of their deaths. The murder baffled local police, who had very little experience with violent crime, much less murder. The first few weeks of the investigation were hampered by an overwhelming number of unhelpful tips from the public and considerable time was wasted on chasing false leads. When investigators finally caught up with the killers nearly a month later, their identities were not at all what anyone was expecting, and their motive for the murder made even less sense.ResourcesBelkin, Douglas, and Lois Shea. 2001. Leadership is more than a buzzword—it's the backbone of every successful machine shop. In this episode of MakingChips—Machine Shop MBA, hosts Paul Van Metre and Jen Dubose sit down with Kyra Tillman, owner of BTM Industries, to explore what real leadership looks like on the shop floor and in the front office. Kyra inherited a decades-old family shop steeped in tradition and transformed it into a forward-looking, systems-driven operation without losing its close-knit culture. Drawing on her experience in construction and her perspective as a non-machinist leader, she shares how she built trust, introduced new systems, and developed her people—all while respecting the expertise already on her team. This conversation digs into the mechanics of leadership in a small manufacturing business: why humility and transparency matter, how to foster a culture of continuous improvement, and the difference between managing work and leading people. Kyra also outlines her approach to apprenticeship programs, leadership training, and grants, showing that even small shops can invest in their workforce and future. Whether you're an established owner or just starting your journey, Kyra's lessons on change management, talent development, and leading by example will help you strengthen your shop from the inside out. “I still haven't got over that Super Bowl, I have yet to watch that game through because it's that painful and I was that close to getting my ring. I hate the Super Bowl. I hate February.” Charles "Peanut" Tillman On this episode of The Pivot Podcast, former NFL star Charles "Peanut" Tillman joins Ryan, Channing, and Fred for an unforgettable conversation that goes far beyond the football field. Known for his legendary "Peanut Punch" and Pro Bowl career with the Chicago Bears, Tillman opens up about the highs and lows of life in the NFL, the mental grind of competition, and what truly defined his time on the gridiron. He shares how it's still difficult to think about coming up short in two Super Bowls and how it pains him to this day to watch football in February. He takes the guys through his infamous career, some of his legendary plays and how he was the only player close to reaching a historic NFL milestone, of the 40/40 club with 44 forced fumbles and two picks short of 40 interceptions. But his story didn't end with football. In a tremendous pivot of honor, Peanut talks about his decision to join the FBI after NFL retirement—a rare and inspiring path for a professional athlete. He shares what drove him to serve in a completely different arena, the challenges of the transition, and how discipline and purpose continue to shape his life. Growing up with his father in the military, he always had a passion to serve the country and joining the bureau was his way to make an impact. But recent changes and demands in protecting the homeland led Peanut to abruptly leave the FBI after eight years of service, which he opens up on and shares why for the first time. Peanut also reflects on the most important role he's ever played: being a father. He gets deeply personal about his family, including the emotional journey with his daughter's health, and how that experience changed his entire perspective on life, love, and prayer. Fred deems his storytelling as his favorite share in our Pivot history. The guys wrap up talking ball, sharing career moments and reminisce he plays we never live down! This is an episode about resilience, reinvention, and real priorities. Don't miss this raw and heartfelt sit-down with a true game-changer—on and off the field. The Drunken Odyssey with John King: A Podcast About the Writing Life
Sylvia Plath is legendary for being a tragic poet mostly known for her novel, The Bell Jar. John and Rachael are fans of Plath's poetry and The Bell Jar, but hereby set out on a historical project to read Plath's work as the world would have known it first, and as she would have known it herself, without the legend imposing its darkest meanings onto every possible opportunity.
Welcome to Veritas Vox Populi: where the people speak their truth. Tonight, we bring you the story of a man who worked inside a top U.S. defense contractor's division, involved with some of the most advanced electromagnetic and missile defense technologies. To protect his privacy, we will call him Derek Tillman, a name he has chosen for this conversation. At first, the technology seemed almost unbelievable. High power microwave control systems, automated aircraft launch and recovery, and secret DARPA silent talk projects. But after leaving the industry, Derek faced a hidden threat - electronic harassment, voice to skull attacks, stalking, and verbal intimidation that deeply affected his life. Tonight's audio-only conversation explores what he witnessed, endured, and what it means for freedom today.

USMNT: Takeaways from the 1-2 "home" loss to Mexico in the Gold Cup final, and thoughts on the team and Poch's performance at the tournament more generally. Who is pushing for starting roles at WC26? Who helped their case to make the roster? Who did not? And where the team goes from here (starting with September friendlies). STOPPAGE TIME: Ivan Toney's Best Bets and GOAWs
The U.S. Men's National Team came up short in the 2025 Gold Cup Final, falling 2-1 to Mexico in a hard-fought battle. The match was decided once again by intensity, momentum swings, and set pieces. A controversial handball in the second half kept the drama high, and after a lengthy VAR check, Edson Álvarez delivered the decisive blow.Stu Holden and Maurice Edu joined the show to break down the performance and examine what this tournament revealed about the team's evolving identity. They discuss who stepped up, who has real 2026 World Cup potential, and who is still on the bubble. With just a handful of windows remaining before World Cup camp begins, the clock is ticking, and the path forward is coming into focus.
